We go every week if not twice to village kitchen, we just love it. The place is a hidden gem, well not so hidden now as it’s not very often it’s quiet now! The food is amazing, honestly the best cafe around. The staff are so lovely and friendly. We always sit outside in all weathers, the staff will pop the heater on for us. My little girl loves visiting because of the toys outside.

Lovely hidden place to visit for a relaxing drink or something to eat throughout the day. Situated in a converted stables building, behind the Church in Edwinstowe where legends have it that Robin Hood and Maid Marian wed. Eady reach of Sherwood Forest, the cafe offers seating both inside and outside away from the busy thoroughfare. Wide choice of lunches, snacks and cakes available; plus many hot and cold drinks, all served on vintage style plates to suit the heritage of the location. Friendly staff. Worth a visit.

I had a chicken bacon and cheese panini which was honestly pretty good. The place inside was a bit small, you could sit outside but it's a bit cold for it at the moment. The staff were friendly enough but we didn't feel like they were as warm to us as those who must be regular, maybe it's as we are foreign🇦🇺 but they seemed a bit short with us. The cappuccino was I'm sad to say very unpleasant. Either the coffee is being burned when it is being pulled or the coffee is old, it didn't taste fresh and was far too hot, it shouldn't be over 90° and this coffee was scalding, I couldn't even sip it for about 15 minutes, but the taste wasn't worth the wait.

Took a trip here today, we were looking for a tearoom close to Sherwood Forest. Definitely the right choice. Family members had lasagne and a tuna melt, both huge and lovely. Kids choices we found limited, ours have typical kids plain tastes so they just had the kids picnic box. The star of the show was the separate vegan menu. I had a delicious salad with grains, potato salad and coleslaw. They had several other options I would have happily eaten them all, spoilt for choice. Would definitely return.

We stumbled upon this little gem whilst on a visit to Edwinstowe. We were staying in a lodge in Clumber Park and had decided to explore nearby towns and villages, take a light lunch and then self cater in the evening. The sun was shining and we managed to grab a table in the very sheltered courtyard area. I had loaded nachos while my husband opted for pate with toasted focaccia. Both dishes arrived promptly and were delicious - a perfect light lunch. We then shared the best Tarte au Citron we have had in years, complete with clotted cream and Raspberry Coulis. The meal was completed with an excellent double espresso, an americano and change from £20. There was no kitchen area to speak of and the owner and her staff managed to produce good food quickly and efficiently, and were all very friendly. Well done team Village Kitchen

This is a thoroughly delightful spot for a breakfast, lunch or morning or afternoon tea, if you happen to visiting Sherwood Forest or the village of Edwinstowe. The cafe / coffee shop is located just off Mansfield Road, in a collection of shops / businesses in the Church Farm Centre. It’s well-signed on Mansfield Road, and it is just by the entrance to the Church of St Mary (where legend has Robin Hood marrying Maid Marion). The Village Kitchen serves up a delectable selection of soups, sandwiches, toasties and paninis, and more substantial lunch offerings such as homemade lasagna, quiche, and a cheese and potato bake. There's also a lunch-time 'specials' board, with a decent selection of hot dishes and lighter snacks. Add to that a mouth-wateringly sumptuous selection of cakes, scones and slices, and outstanding barista-style coffee, and you have the perfect spot for a perfect bite to eat. We loved our lunch-time visiting here, after a wander through Sherwood Forest and a visit to the Major Oak. There’s inside seating in a fairly small cafe space, but plenty of outside seating, some under canopies with heating. The cafe was very busy inside, so we sat outside. The day was cool but sunny, so we didn’t mind the fresh air at all; blankets are provided for cold knees! I love the vintage chic approach to the cafe: a mismatched but fabulously eclectic mix of crockery and china, the non-matching chairs and tables, and various curiosities in the yard. That kind of look really works for me. It creates a very homely and welcoming feel, unpretentious and not stuffy, but with considerable care and attention given to detail. We had a great lunch. The carrot and coriander soup was a very ample serve, and hot and tasty. The 'Lucy's Club Sandwich (from the 'specials' board) was outstanding; the breaded chicken breast was plump and perfectly cooked, and the sandwich laden with bacon and salad, with crisps and home-made coleslaw on the side. We enjoyed our food very much. A sign of a good cafe for me is its coffee. We had a perfectly brewed double espresso, and a latte. Coffee at its best, that’s for sure. Service was prompt, welcoming and friendly, without being overbearing or obtrusive. It was certainly ‘service with a smile’. We had parked in the visitor centre4 car park (£4.00 for the day), and the cafe is just a short walk from there. We loved our visit there; we recommend it highly, and will certainly be back when next we are passing through the village.

I was travelling into Edwinstowe and looking for somewhere that had well organised outdoor seating and a considered menu and I got all that at The Village Kitchen. The outdoor seating is arranged really well, offering sunny and shady spots, covered and non covered as well as the offering of hot water bottles and blankets if needed. The menu is full and contains so many options that I've been back since for another lunch. Not only are there options printed on the table menus but they have the specials board and delicious cakes inside. It is an accessible venue and you can reach it from the car park with no issues. The car park is spacious and serves the surrounding businesses but there is always space and feels safe. The owners and workers are so friendly and do all they can to make your time there enjoyable.
