Avoid!! Just bought chips peas sausage x 2 and single sausage, drove 3 miles up the road stopped to eat and the food was disgustingly cold. In the bin it has gone thanks for relieving me of £11.90

bought 5 meals tonight order short, absolutely awful, soggy batter, soggy chips discoloured inside ..everyone left their meals esp the chips ..wont be going back

Disappointed today everything was a bit off. Chips floppy, Haddock (made to order) dry and mushy peas not mushy but hard. Normally this is our go to chippy but if it doesn’t improve we will need to find another.obviously we didn’t know the issues until we got home. The owner Steve was not on today and that might be the problem.

You cannot beat their lightly battered fish👍

A chippy located on Darwen Rd opposite the Coop. Ordered 2 battered cod, a large chips, a tub of mushy peas and a tub of curry sauce for 2 of us and it was the perfect size, plenty of chips for both of us. The fish was nice as was the peas and sauce but the chips could have been cooked a little longer for me. They were OK but that's all. Everything was average, nothing outstanding, I've had better and I've had worse.

Very bad fish was awful under cooked and the chips wasn't great to don't know what's going on with the new owner 😕

Staff very welcoming, helpful and polite. Ordered sausage, chips n gravy which was lovely! Will definitely return to try the fish. Couple of parking spaces directly outside the shop, also possible to park on the Co-op car park across the road. Shop is cash only.

Service and atmosphere are what was expected for a chippy. I have had chips here a number of times and thought them ok, but today I ordered a tray with gravy. Half the chips were inedible. Dry despite the gravy, discolored, old and chewy. What's worse is the chippy is closed from 1330 to 1630 yet they were putting in more chips as I was leaving at 1320. Maybe there is a reason, but regardless, I won't be going back.

Fish was so dry,chips limp and the potatoes used had dark marks. Not one full chip,all bits and half chips. Nearly £15 for 2 fish one regular chips, regular peas and 2 cans of pop. Waste of money. Did not enjoy at all.

Chippy advertised as opening until 7 pm - husband just drove to find it shut at 6.30 - disappointing

Decent chippy, chips are fine, not soggy and I always ask for haddock or sole so it's done fresh. Can't complain. Staff friendly.

Such a poor chippy. Slow service. Chips rock hard, peas rock hard and gravy non existent. Expensive for what you get. 1st time here and i live in BX. Ill stick to my usual chippy on belmont road!

Good quality food but service painfully slow and people who bulk order ahead are allowed to queue jump which seems extremely unfair and most frustrating.

This place is horrible I was given re-heat chips from the night before don't use this chippy it's dreadful

Great chippy, always been awesome for years, sometimes the sausage can be a bit naff sometimes but generally doesn't effect the experience. Keep in mind though it's cash only.

Very poor. Not my first time at this place but definitely the last. Soggy chips, rock-hard peas and fish that had definitely seen better days.

Why advertise to be open when you’re actually closed??? So annoying. I can only assume this laziness reflects on the food. Very poor business.

Brilliant fish and chips every time.

Purchased Fish and Chips from here on 5th June . Dreadful meal. Fish did not taste fresh . I could not eat mine. When my husband phoned the shop to relate our experience the owner said that it had been a quiet week and the next time we visited the shop to ask for a "lightly battered fish " . What this had to do with the poor quality food that he had served us i have no idea .We will not be using The Village Chippy again.

Peas are like bullets,gravy is loaded with salt. Avoid

Awful. Was told it was fresh out the frier but it was far from it, could’ve been yesterday’s. Very dry fish and doughy batter, I gave one star for the mushy peas and curry sauce alone. 5 years away and no improvement.

I visit every Friday for my fish and chips.really lovely.

Friendly, good food, sometimes the chips are reheated and that knocks it down in rating for me. Good overall though.

Always tasty. Perfectly cooked. Try the curry sauce.
