The Village in Croydon

Honestly the best Chinese in the area. The king prawns in black bean sauce has juicy prawns and a lovely spicy kick to the sauce. The lemon chicken is LEMONY (but get a veg dish to go with it) and the mixed starters are fab. Definitely recommended but I suggest you go there, take a photo of the menu and order from home - it can get busy.

Hidden Gem! - The decor may be a little tired but the staff, food and service are very good. Our son has a severe nut allergy and although there is only 1 or 2 dishes with nuts in, the staff make sure that the woks and utensils for his food are freshly cleaned before cooking his food. We always have adrenaline with him but he has never had any problems eating from here. Highly recommended

I want to order from here tonight, but there's no menu online or on the window...5 stars because I don't want to ruin their score and it looks as though they are excellent, but surely they are missing customers by not having anything available to view.

10/10, ordered the roast duck in Cantonese sauce, kind prawns king do style and special fried rice and thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Everything is well cooked, well seasoned and flavourful, generous portion sizes and good quality ingredients. My new favourite Chinese spot

Sad to say ive been enjoying my recent past meals untill today, i ordered my usual Chicken Fried Rice with portion of salt and pepper wings and half way into eating my rice ive pulled out an extremely long hair from my mouth which was 100% not mine as im African/American race. Will be my last order from the village, i insist you take health and hygiene into consideration when dealing with other peoples food.

The best in Croydon, dare I say London ? Never had bad food and only delivery it’s always hot! If you haven’t already get the Singapore duck fried rice and their salt and pepper ribs.

First time here as my usual Chinese can't be bothered to answer/sort their phones! (80x calls later then told an hour wait) Well the reviews don't lie! Fantastic flavours and great choice, service with a smile too. It's cash only but there's a cash point nearby so all good! I walked in and although it was meant to be a longer wait, the lovely lady made it a little quicker for me. 5 stars and I will be back thank you! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The BEST Chinese take away. Reminds me of late 90s early 2000s classic Chinese take away before many of them sadly went down hill. The Village is one of the rare ones that really know what they’re doing! Consistently great food at such good value which is so hard to find these days. I’m in South Norwood and I’ve tried them all in the area and so glad we discovered The Village a few years ago. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Personal favourite dishes are Ribs in BBQ sauce, King Prawns in Black Bean Sauce, Prawn Toast, Crispy Chilli Beef, Mixed Veg, Chicken Balls. They never let you down. Seriously very hard working and lovely people run this place. Don’t waste your money or time elsewhere. 100% The Village every time! Bring cash.

Me and my family have eaten from this Chinese shop for several years it does look dated and perhaps needs newer decor, however don't be fooled the Chinese food here is the best I have tried many and this particular shop always cooks it just right every time!!! Very delicious and I highly recommend they are happy to always meet my requirements I will remain a loyal customer thanks

One of the best Chinese takeaways in London. The food was delicious. My fiance and I absolutely loved it.

Best Chinese in South. NEVER had a bad experience. Highly recommend.

I used to live close by and in many year's i have never found a takeaway as good as i have from here. Would always whip up food for me very quick and was never any problems in the 100s of time's i have ordered. Always respectable and honest and would tell me when their drinks weren't very cold so better to nip to the shop if i had time. The food is absolutely excellent from their beef to their duck to their pork. I hope to visit one day again in future. So if you ever see this goodluck for the future from Tom who used to live across the road.

I have tried many Chinese places and this one right here is worth the 40 mins drive since moving out of the area. Food is freshly made and the service is fantastic.

My favourite Chinese spot and I have tried many. You can tell a good Chinese spot from the chilli oil and their one is splendid. Their BBQ duck is sweet, sticky and spicy with star anise coming through. Their honey ribs and salt and pepper ribs fall off the bone and I’ll highly recommend. Their prawn balls too got that good sweet and sour sauce and the dough is light and fluffy. Special fried rice is top notch. It’s my number one go to place when I’m not cooking at home.

Absolutely amazing ! Best Chinese in south London and I literally have tried so many. Haha The standard of the meat used is great, my fav dish is the salt and pepper chicken.. yum!

King Prawn Chow mein today was not good.... Did not taste like it was freshly cooked but re heated in a lot of oil.... I have that lingering taste of old cooking oil in the back of my throat...... Had a few meals from here that were OK, but to be honest I've had more that were not nice.... So after this Chow mein, sorry not going back...
