Bawarchi Indian Street Food (Vegetarian) in Croydon

Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Read great reviews on here so thought why not go and try and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, super tasty food, and very affordable. Pani puri casing is nice and crunchy and fresh. I wasn’t sure why people were raving about the puff but now we know why. The flakiest puff pastry ever. So good! Can’t wait to go back again to eat and try more dishes.

Nice small place with varities of Indian foods including sweet for the auspicious occasion. Tried Mutter kachori and pav bhaji. It's delicious. Must try. Also low in price compare to others.

Bawarchi Indian Street Food truly lives upto its name. Home away from home kind of cuisine. Homely and authentic Indian food served piping hot and with a lot of care and concern by the owner personally, which surely makes it worth a visit. Do try the Cheese Paneer Butter Masala which is delectable and goes very well with plain Roti !

We had a lovely and delicious array of dishes at Bawarchi. The owner is very polite and the food was served promptly. Everything was well flavored, balanced but most importantly, it was all fresh and yummy. We enjoyed the Peas kajori and the Methi Gota very much. We'll definitely be back again 🙏

Every day I cycle past this restaurant to and from work. The aroma of the freshly cooked food is so enticing, finally my partner and I relented to the temptation and went inside. As it was around 5 o'clock there was only one other customer inside but it didn't dissuade us. The owner came over and offered some water whilst we perused the menu, small bites - street food like an Indian version of tapas it was perfect for us. We were astounded at the choice on offer and everything we ordered, I mean everything was freshly cooked, quickly and most importantly with love. The chef asked about our dietary restrictions and our tolerance to chilli, my partner was less of a tolerance so the chef amended her dish, it was all delicious, particularly the samosa chat. Home-cooked food at incredibly reasonable prices. We loved it so much my partner is going there for breakfast with her friend. great selection of drinks too. The chef (tina) I think was so kind with a great energy, we really felt like a guest in somebody's home. It's just the sort of restaurant Croydon needs.

It really is a great spot. Everything's homemade + vegetarian/ vegan. I had a lovely late lunch, with my favourites being the masala chai and pani puri. As a local it's nice to try something different - can't wait to come again!

The food here is pathetic!! I ordered dosa, idli and masala Chaas. The sambhar and chaas were so bad, drinking plain water would be better than consuming this tasteless food!!! No color, no smell, no taste in this food. Never ever order from here and save your money.. I wasted £18 on this. Zero stars from me!!

The wonderful chef’s husband was really patient and explained the different dishes to us. We tried a variety and really enjoyed everything. The flavours are fresh and each dish highlighted a different spice or texture. For the price, we left stuffed and satisfied. Will be back for sure! Thank you.

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Bawarchi. I had a couple of dishes, with a couple of lassi. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who are Vegetarian!

The food here is exceptionally authentic, I wanted to treat my friends on my birthday with Rajasthani meal Dal Baati churma. Tho this dish is not on their regular menu, they went out of their way to accommodate my request, and on the day team Bawarchi has done an excellent job, we were looked after I had a lovely birthday party. I am in awe of the service and the chef's culinary skills and passion for delivering exceptional cuisine. I wish they move to a bigger place with a parking facility.

This place is great very good and satisfying food. Very home feel! Lighting and decor could be better but doesn’t matter!

Amazing mom & pop type spot; all-vegetarian Indian with lots of vegan options. The chef came out and explained exactly what was vegan friendly. We only had time for a quick bite but DEFINITELY would have loved to try everything on the menu. The bits we did get were so flavourful, good spice level, and amazing homemade mango lime pickle!! Food also came very fast. Absolutely loved.

Never had such bad tasting food in recent years. The poori was soaked in oil and bhature was not bhature but something else. Chole curry was so bland. Wasted my money. Such a rip off!!!

Did a takeaway. Lovely service. Tastey food. Though the bhaji in Pau Bhaji could be considered a bit on the hot side for some.

Great little find, if you’re ever in the area and want authentic food then come here. Tash and Tina are the best hosts, nothing is too much. Tina went out of her way to make me something that wasn’t even on the menu! 5* all round!

Ordered panner curry and pav bhaji yesterday for dinner take away. Must say, was completely disappointed and angry at the end of a working day. For the pav bhaji, the bhaji was just some dal which smelt so awful. Not sure if it is end of day, and they were trying to get away with everything for the day. Never could anyone give some yellow dal for bhaji. I should have clicked some pics for record which I missed. And for the panner curry, some cooked panner were added to the peas curry. More felt like I had peas curry. I am truly surprised at all the comments here. Is my experience a one-off? I hardly care to drop reviews but this one I could not avoid. Very disappointed and never again!

Very glad to see great reviews of this little gem of a restaurant in Thornton Heath Pond. I happened to pass it on one of my daily walks on Monday. I fancied a thali, so went in and asked. The owner, who is a very lovely, and chatty lady, said they only serve them on Wednesdays and Thursdays. So I returned on Wednesday and ordered Thali and Chai. The team are super friendly and welcoming. The lady said she will put together a thali for me. LOVED IT. This is pure, fresh, home made food. The toor dhal was especially yummy. She also gave me their popular "savoury puff" to try, which was delicious with the excellent tea. If you want fresh, yummy, taste like home vegetarian food, then this is the place to go. Great service, food and atmosphere.

I ordered Puri Bhaji, veg Puff pastry and 1 desi tea. It was great taste as always. Veg puff was fresh, crispy and warm. Tea was also just as expected, although I forgot to mention anything about sugar quantity but I guess default is 'no sugar', the way I prefer.

Had a lunch at the restaurant yesterday with my family and it was a delightful experience. The food is made fresh and felt homemade and had an authentic flavour, thanks to their talented lady chef. Their bhajia dishes were a real treat – bursting with spicy flavour especially methi ones…soft and tasty. The puff pastry was a pleasant surprise, and the bhel and vada pav were again truly delicious. Looking fwd to trying out more dishes next time and plus side is that the prices are very reasonable. Definitely recommend the restaurant.

Visited this place for dinner. We had fantastic food and hospitality was great. I could feel masala Dosa was not upto the mark but other items and Mango Lassi were delicious.

I placed an order for 30 samosas for a work party. They were fresh, hot, crispy and lip smackingly delicious. The samosas were all homemade and at a very good price. I would definitely try their other food options and would highly recommend them.

We try Puff , Dahi Puri , Mango Lassi and test like home. India ni yad avi gai. Also Owner is so humble. Interior of the restaurant is awesome. Must Visit.....

Sejal who runs this business one of the most down to earth person, very kind hearted and that’s probably the best ingredient of everything that she prepares and serve’s. Me, my wife and kids just love the food and Sejal’s warm hospitality and I would recommend everyone who loves Indian street food to give Bawarchi a try and I guarantee you will never stop coming here again.

Food was bad, the kachori was like it was cooked a month ago rock solid. Paratha had minimal filling. Sambar watery. Chutneys watery

Order anything but dosa. Ordered uttapam and got an overcooked dosa with sprinkles of carrot on top with watered down sambhar and chutney.

I had very good experience with them there are so much variety of food they have. About taste it's delicious. The staff was too friendly such a nice people.

Tasty vegetarian Indian food and snacks (dosa, puri bhaji, dahi puri to name a few) made by a lovely lady, at very reasonable prices. As well as the menu items she also does a delicious thali on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Cholay were such a small portion and was a joke more like it, few chickpeas were sinking in yogurt it's something I have never experienced before, chapatti were ohkie but I ordered tandoor roti instead I received chapatti as nan were not available. Khasta kachori was all gone off with smell of fungus in it so didn't even touch that. Disgusting to be allowed on here to rip people off like this, chips were fried in old used oil it had black bits on it.
