Mithras Turkish Mediterranean Restaurant in Croydon

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mithras, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. I ordered the lamb shish with a fresh salad, and both dishes exceeded my expectations. What truly made my visit special, however, was the exceptional service. A special shout-out to Rizen, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was exactly to my preference. His attention to detail and friendly demeanor made the dining experience even more enjoyable. It’s rare to find such attentive service, and it certainly left a lasting impression. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Turkish cuisine paired with top-notch hospitality, I highly recommend Mithras. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

This is a restaurant for people who really enjoy food, a thoughtfully curated drinks menu, and a cosy atmosphere where one can easily bare their soul over dinner. The staff were friendly, warm, and highly efficient. We were greeted and seated quite quickly. We ordered King prawns and stuffed aubergine for our hot starters. The prawns were beautifully cooked, not overcooked - just right and absolutely delicious. The aubergine was divine. Seasoned to perfection with garlic and a proper authentic ripe tomato sauce that complemented the chargrilled flavour of the aubergine. It's not an easy task, and quite frankly, this is the best aubergine I've had in London. We ordered Merlot, which we thoroughly enjoyed and decided on the Calamari as the main which was golden and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The chips and salad were evidently freshly prepared. Portion sizes are brilliant. As a treat, we had Baklava with strawberry ice cream and a couple more glasses of Merlot. The ice cream had real strawberry pieces and the Baklava; rich with nuts and sweetness. Again, it was completely indulgent and tasted wonderful. Very pleasing. The Turquish tea was served hot and freshly brewed, with absolutely no sign of oversteeping or bitter aftertaste. I would happily visit again.

I eat in Mithas everytime I visit Croydon, frequenting for around 3 years now, the food is always delicious and top quality. I note that their prices have not increased despite many businesses having to close due to rising costs. The portion size is always adequate and filling. The meat is tasty and well cooked, accompanied by flavoursome rice and a beautifully tasty rainbow salad which was perfect, finished off with baklava and Turkish coffee. I could not have asked for anything better.

The food was superb 👌. I have been to Turkey many times, and ai can say the food was even better than some restaurants there. The cocktails were also excellent. Try the Long Island iced tea if you want something strong.

Not the best atmosphere as I would have expected from a turkish restaurant. Furthermore staff got my order wrong, made me wait for the food. I'm a big turkish food fan, and this by far did not live upto any of my past experiences at Turkish restaurant.

I have never had such a delicious kebab anywhere in Turkey or England. I come here often with my family. The staff is very friendly and very attentive. They are very good in terms of cleanliness. The service is very good. We love the atmosphere. A real family place. If you want to eat delicious food, you should definitely come here. I highly recommend it.🥙🍢🥗🌮

Came for lunch here with a friend as I was in the area. Not a local for me. Food was delicious, I can’t remember the names of the dishes. Possibly an Adana. All of it was recommended. Excellent service, the waitress Gözde was extremely friendly and efficient especially since she was new to the restaurant first day or week I think. She served me again at dinner another time with another friend more recently. Food again was super.

Very pleasant, good food. Our "Friday Lunchtime Club" will be adding it to our Croydon rota. 28/1/2025 Revisited with a group last Friday to be told the lunch time deal was no longer available on a Friday, OK but disappointing. Took photo see below. Friday back in or was it never out? Food was still good but that discrepancy does leave a "bad taste" in the mouth. May be dropped from our Friday Lunchtime Club rota as a result.

Had the meal deal, food was nice but a bit mean cuisine, then 2nd dish lovely again mean cuisine again. Left there still hungry. Then to top it off a £2.50 service charge not mentioned. Food is nice but wont be going back, to mean then a sneaky service charge shame. Greed ruined the experience for me.

I have was here for the lunch deal a few times last year . it’s very tasty as you can see from the pics - but sorry Mithras, in 2025 you have reduced your portion size for the lunch deal and we were just not full up! I advise to increase portion size!

We went there on Christmas eve and took the special menu they offered for £29.95. It was a good choice. For your main meal, you had different options to choose from. It included fish and meat. I selected the mixed grill, and it was more than enough, and the selection was great.

I hosted a team Christmas dinner at Mithras Restaurant, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was lively and festive. The service was outstanding- every member of the staff went above and beyond to make our day extra special. The food was simply scrumptious. My team had a lovely time and left with smiles on their faces to. Thank you for making our celebration extra special, and we will definitely be coming back.

I moved to Croydon recently visited this restaurant for the first time I can honestly say i loved the atmosphere, service and the food was really delicious. I will recommend this place. I’ll be most definitely visiting again.

12% service charge during this crunch crisis is alot?! Happy to pay if the service was good..but when the whole restaurant is empty and the staff still don't attend to you and take over 15mins to take your order, then 15mins more for you to have the bill. We had issues with these flies everywhere, which did concern me, felt uneasy, my brother Wasn't impressed either, The food was tasty/good, but the portions are little small for rice. If they can consider the current time crunch and understand youre in the middle of croydon, parking fees apply, please consider your charges or give your UPmost service, where customers feel like theyve spent well.

Visitors to Croydon. Found this restaurant by chance. Had dolma, falafel and chopped lamb with hommus followed by chicken kebab, all very good and more than enough for 2. Friendly welcoming service and local to East Croydon Station.

We were walking around looking for a place for dinner and this seemed promising. It was an excellent choice! Lovely staff and great food. We had lamb shish kebabs and chicken izkender and they were both excellent. The portions were very generous and we didn't have room for dessert. We will be back!

I visited the restaurant on the 12th of November 2024. It was a bad experience, the food was not of a good quality... got GIT upset, and the portion was small but yet expensive. I used to live in Croydon in 21-22, it was really good at that time. But now .. it is really not good at all based on my recent experience.

Where can I start probably one of the best Turkish restaurants I've ever been to and trust me I have been to a few! The hospitality soon as you walk in is fantastic the manager comes and where welcomes you l, and the service staff are second to none we was lucky to get a young receptionist the name of ABIR fantastic young lady. The food is proper traditional Turkish food If I could give them of 10 stars I would.. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that likes proper traditional Turkish food. Cocktails are fantastic. Got a deal on at the moment for buy one get one free😉. As I say again this is probably one of the most best Turkish restaurants ever the food the meat is so tender it is delightful and the prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is very family orientated. ❤️🙏🏽💯😋

I recently dined at Mithras, a Turkish restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful Turkish decor that set the tone for a great meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was delicious—each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. We started with a mix of mezze, which included creamy hummus, baba ghanoush, and fresh pita bread, all of which were excellent. For the main course, we had the sharing platter which included lamb kebabs, chicken wings, lamb chops and chicken shish, all cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. Overall, it was a great dining experience with good service and authentic flavors. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy Turkish cuisine!

Everything is fine, one thing is not clear - in the pub next door they are sitting on each other’s heads, but here there is almost no one, although it is much tastier

We were famished by the time we arrived. Unfortunately ate bland, heartless, not well cooked, lukewarm food. Suffering for it this morning. Mentioned the food was near cold when they asked for feedback. Cutlery wasn’t very clean either. The food wasn’t cheap and not too pleased they added a service charge, which was over 10% of the bill. We had to leave in a hurry so couldn’t follow up. Was a bad experience and very much regret going.

Dropped in on a whim. Had an excellent meal. It was a quiet Tuesday night. Polite and quick service. Watch the 12% service charge ! Food was excellent. I would recommend.

Delicious food, perfectly cooked, good atmosphere (dim enough, warm lighting although overhead). Waitress effective and charming. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 for food is that the menu page of pictures of each dish is misleading. With the £13.95 lunch special the lamb shish kebab you get is half the size you see in the photo, which is presumably the a la carte version. I found that disappointing.

This was my third visit, and once again, it was a delightful experience. The food was perfectly seasoned, with just the right blend of spices, and the portion sizes were very generous. The service has been consistently outstanding on every visit. I’ve come at various times of the day and each time, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the experience. Highly recommend! It would be fantastic if the playlist could be improved to elevate the overall atmosphere for an even better night. Thank you for a lovely evening

It is really hard to find a nice tender Adana kebab in London. Had Adana kebab and it was very juicy and tender. I definitely recommend it 😊

The food was served in good time and had a very tasty, authentic Turkish dining experience with charming and attentive waiting staff. I’ve had the best kebap experience ever! I haven’t eaten a kebap this good, even in Turkey. The owner Dear Zülfü Ağırbaş is such a kind and caring soul! %100 recommended!!

I was there alone but never that i felt i was just by myself at one corner, Ekrem and Uncle Zulfu made sure i received the authentic Mithras experience. Brilliant human beings. I went there a few days ago with 2 of my friends and we not disappointed! The food there was excellent and in generous portion size (we ordered the Doners). The environment was lovely and the staff were friendly and polite. 10/10, would definitely recommend.

Family celebration held at Mithras on Sunday about 28 of us including children. The food was amazing, I had Dolmas and Lamb Shank great portions and cooked to perfection, everybody enjoyed their meals. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend Mithras.

We were visiting family in Croydon and all went out yesterday for dinner. Spotted Mithras Turkish Restaurant which looked very nice and we were not disappointed. The service was very good even though they were clearly busy. The menu is very good, has a wide variety and prices are reasonable. Our group chose the chicken shish kebab and homemade donner kebab with side orders of chips. All meals were served very quickly we thought and we thought the food to be delicious!!!. The owner/manager was a lovely welcoming chap who really makes the whole visit even better for customers. We would definitely be visiting again soon and would highly recommend you check Mithras out yourselves. Perfect in every way!

Out of all the restaurants in Croydon, I would say this is probably the best. The food is extremely delicious and the prices are really fair. The atmosphere is also really positive, and the owner and waiters exuded happy energy that made dining more enjoyable.

Our host and waiter Ekrem was amazing. The food was top-notch. It’s been a long time where I can say that a restaurant has met all my criteria in food, excellence, service, and elegance. The server was exceptional. It was an honor having him host us. The food was a banger. I definitely recommend not one time not two times but 1 million times come and hear the food is great.

I went to Mithras and had a combination of chicken and lamb, the meat was cooked well but the portions are quiet small including the rice. At £21.50 I found it at bit expensive

We visited Mithraz today , looking to enjoy a nice relaxing lunch with authentic Turkish food. On entry, the waitress smile and service made us feel extremely welcomed. We chose the lunch special , particularly because we knew it included the cigaro feta borek. We also ordered shakshuka, and for mains, lamb Shish and chicken shish. We had two cocktails too, sex on the beach and a strawberry daiquiri. The cocktails were off menu and the manager bar guy, went out of his way to make them extra special. The starters were extra delicious, clean, presented so nicely, we had Turkish bread too. The chicken and lamb shish both came with a nice relaxing delay between the courses and was again so beautifully presented. The staff were extremely accommodating, they charged my phone and I also used my laptop in the restaurant. The price for the lunch special was great and the staff were superb. We would absolutely go back. Service ambience value for money and service were all five stars. Made our day and afternoon exactly what we hoped for. Thank you

What a great experience. The service was really spot on. Greeted at the door by the waitress and got a nice table. Seating was comfortable and the overall environment inside was really nice. Not overboard but really well done. The music was on light enough to hear and not be overwhelmingly loud. Ordered drinks right away and an appetizer that came out quickly and was quite enjoyable. The meals themselves came out in a timely manner. We never felt rushed or anxious about getting our food, or being rushed to eat. We got two different chicken meals and both were moist and delicious and really didn’t need any sauces although I did use some of the garlic and chili sauce, quite sparingly because the taste was really on point. Got an order of sutlac for desert and it was plentiful to split between two of us. Closed the meal off with some Turkish tea that was quite delightful. I have two days left in London and you can count on my last meal being here.

Great turkish food and options, slightly pricey but great quality!

A family gathering; the food was copiuos of the highest quality. The owner himself checked in on us regularly. Filling up our bread basket, gave great banter and some baklava and tea on the house. The best in Croydon !

If I could give -1 star I would absolutely terrible. If I was in the restaurant I would send the food back and refused to pay, just cuz it was over deliveroo they are lucky I couldn't send it back and refused to pay. £70 for 2 people and one of the portions were 4 tiny pieces of meatballs for £16!!! What a robbery!! Never again!!! The worst order I EVER had in my life!!!

I went to Mithras restaurant in Croydon for a lunchtime birthday celebration. We had a great time the food was amazing and the waiter we had gave us wonderful service. We had there set menu, the cost of the set menu is value for money.

Thank you all for making my birthday party so memorable. Especially the manager Ekrem who went out of his way to make it so enjoyable. All my guests 29 of them commented on the scrumptious food and plenty of it. Even provided takeaway containers because there was so much left over. Also just as I was leaving they presented me with a bottle of a prosecco as a birthday gift. Will be popping in for lunch soon.

The place is really cozy and vibrant. It was my birthday and they sang me a song!! The professionalism of the staff was top tier. The food tasted homemade all the way from the starter.It was a very warm and inviting atmosphere.
