Greeted with a warm smile and seated at your table with great sea views. The set menu offers great value and for that little extra on ordering steak it’s only a £5 supplement. There is ample car parking at rear of property and it’s a restaurant my family and I visit frequently.Would highly recommend.

What can I say, the View never ceases to delight!!We went for dinner tonight, starter of Pate on toast, followed by smoked haddock in a gratin sauce, superb! Finished with carmalised banoffee pie, the pastry was wonderful! Food to that standard is a snip at any price! My hubby had Macaroni cheese with leek and sticky toffee pudding to follow, he is still in raptures!! We had a coffee and a gin and tonic Wonderful atmosphere, Covid-19 Regs followed to the letter! Great experience every time!

Booked weeks in advance for Thurs 3rd Sep as were staying at The Hydro.Shown to our seat and drink order was taken. The Peroni delivered promptly but had a 15 minute wait for a Passion Fruit Daquri.Steak order then taken.Waited another 35 minutes for this to be delivered where the staff even admitted having to chase it up as the chef said the fillet was taking ages ( I asked for medium !!)Food eventually delivered and was lovely. We then ordered a sticky toffee pudding.Once the last patron left the "manager" dissapeared. After 15 minutes we were still waiting the pudding so asked the young lad and he said "it won't be long we are just making it"We cancelled the order as were so annoyed with the service and the fact we were waiting that long for a pudding.Paid the bill and headed downstairs. At reception we saw the " manager " from upstairs and expressed our dissatisfaction and she said "awwww sorry about that honey"Which I personally found patronizing as a paying client. We felt that she should have stayed in the restaurant until the final customer i.e us had left to ensure all had run smoothly instead of leaving young children to deal with problems. We have stayed in the hotel quite a few times and loved the rooms. But after this we won't be back to stay or dine.Clearly you don't care about paying customers !!!

Family of 3 had a table booked for 4pm, welcoming arrival with good parking to the rear. We were shown upstairs to the restaurant which was nicely laid out and spacious with good views to the outside. I found it quite relaxing albeit it was too hot to endure over 2 hours of poor service like we did. Seated promptly by less than charismatic staff and drinks arrived soon after. Good upto now. Starters came and went, kids main came at the same time as requested. The position sizes were nothing to write home about and the kids were quite frankly very poor. My son ordered the cheese and ham pizza. It was genuinely the smallest pizza I had ever set eyes on, no ham on it either and no chips? Odd for a kids main. My son wasn't fussed so we carried on. Onto the adults mains, they took their time, the waiting staff I mean. I think we were over an hour at this point. Food was lovely to be honest but the portion sizes again were underwhelming. The empty plates sat for 15 minutes on the table. Upon asking for the menu for the desert, a laborious task it would seem, it arrived a while later. There's a pattern forming here. We ordered, i asked for vanilla ice cream instead of 'rum n raisin'. Needless to say I got what I was given, which was not vanilla. However, they only took 25 minutes to arrive so that was good! Now for the bill, I was charged for 2 pints, I only had one. I raised this with the waitress, she went back to sort it with the bill wallet filled with cash. I expected to receive the amended bill and the correct change. I received the incorrect change and the unattended bill. My partner has enough at this point and after over 2 hours she took the bill to the bar, sorted it quickly and we left.Nice place, service lacked badly, and the broccoli stuck to another customers shoe was a given at that point.

We went for a “first out of lockdown lunch” we couldn’t have picked better!!My husband had mushrooms to start, I had Pate all presented beautifully. Mains were superb my husband had Macaroni Cheese with leek added which he told me was wonderful! I would like to congratulate them on their old take on Steak & Ale Pie, done like you would use a pie dolly to make with shortcrust pastry, the meat was superbly cooked and tender and juicy and lots of it, and a lid, gravy in a little jug, wonderful whipped potatoes, separately served peas and onions, it’s a long time since I tasted anything quite so wonderful. Well done, what a treat! I had 2 gin & tonics, my husband had 2 Americano coffees, the bill was very reasonable, the service was as always excellent, all regs on distancing and moving around and seating all done to great effect! I would recommend to Local and visitor alike, a place to go in Seamill/West Kilbride

Booked for lunch first day the restaurant was open since lockdown. Receptionist explained the safety measures in place very well. The restaurant had spaced the tables out well with loads of room between diners. The place was really quiet, understandable given folk are probably nervous about going out, but the staff were really pulling out all the stops to make sure customers safety came first. We ordered from the lunch menu, 2 courses for £15. You were also able to have the main menu or a lighter menu with sandwiches and salads, so between them all there was a great selection. My partner had pate and I had tarragon mushrooms on toast. Both starters were delicious, well presented and really fresh. My only gripe would be with two bits of toast an extra few mushrooms would have been better. For mains my partner had beef and ale pie and I had butternut squash and spinach cannelloni. Again both dishes were beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. My partner said her pie was the best she had ever tasted, and it came with smooth creamy mash, seasonal veg and gravy. There was garlic bread with my cannelloni, which was ideal to mop up the creamy, cheesy sauce. We were comfortably full for lunch time so didn't want to push it with dessert but the selection looked great and if the rest of our meal was anything to go by im sure they would have been scrumptious.Waitress was really friendly, engaging and attentive. This is our second visit here and our first was equally as good.If I was to nit pick at anything to change it would be background music, I would replace the existing selection to something a bit more ambient. I would also add some touches like, plants, pictures, flowers to the reception area of the hotel and the restaurant. The place is beautifully decorated and tastefully decorated, it just lacks a bit of atmosphere, that nice music, some interesting soft furnishings could add some character.I do hope the place grows in strength as the quality of food and service is fantastic. Its a gem of a place for the area, and if the owners could inject a bit of character and ambience to the overall look and feel of the place, I have no doubt this will become our favourite and most of those who visit it's favourite too.

Visited here on our stay in West Kilbride for dinner, we had passed this when out for a walk and read the menu and gave it a try, the dinner was very good as were the serving staff, it was presented well and was tasty, the restaurant has a fairly open outlook over the other buildings towards the sea and is well decorated, this hotel is a small boutique hotel with about 10 rooms and is very well set out with another bar on the ground floor, the hotel has ample parking at the side and rear for guests staying or visiting for dinner, we liked the look of this hotel and will look to give it a try staying here after lockdown ends.

The waitress did offer a replacement but I declined and waited for my desert which did not disappoint,my husband had the monkfish, scallop and king prawn curry which was delicious we did have one constructive criticism which was the constant noise from our rooms radiator which kept my husband awake a good deal of the night we did mention this to reception who did apologise but unfortunately did appear too interested so with this we left a bit disappointed

The restaurant is sited on the upper floor but there is a lift also. Ambience is great with fantastic sea-views and 'very-tastefully' decorated. The staff is well-trained,courteous and efficient. I have now dined here on several occasions and believe it to be superior within the vicinity.Menu choice is comprehensive without being over elaborate and is worth the short waitto be served enticing dishes. Car-park recently extended which tells a story. Incidentally, the boutique venue does not mean excessive charging.

Family visit here for lunch and for my wife and I, it was a first. Not the best of days to see much of the view, but overall experience means we will return and perhaps see the view! Food itself was excellent and the menu was ideal. Not too big but decent choices. We all went for the three course set lunch menu for £19.95 and can say that it is really good value. The restaurant itself is very well finished and as the last time we had been in this property was many years ago as a pub, we were very impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful and it actually looks like a good place to stay also. Decent car park at rear and only concern for us is that it it is not as obvious from the front how big, and nice, it really is. So, happy to recommend and will definitely return!

How l would love to give you 5 stars but your lack of leadership in the restaurant let you down. The staff are pleasant and welcoming but it takes a bit more than that. There were long periods between courses whilst we waited to order. Used dishes remained on the table throughout. Individual meals arrived in fits and bursts. Two drink orders took an absolute age, one was for 2 gins which seemed also to delay the next course? Odd. If you're going to have candle holders then put candles in them or at least don't leave last night's used tea light on display, it's shoddy. Generally the food was very good. It seems you lack a Maitre d'hotel (if there was one they are totally inept). The furnishings and view are delightful. On the whole we had a wonderful lunch but there is room for improvement. Thank you.

Food very ordinary indeed nothing like as good as it used to be.Chicken goujons were not as good as something you could buy in the freezer centre.Fish and chips were small and rather luke warm.A moaning member of staff also added to a rather flat ambience. Morale seems low. Apparently the old manager has left to go to Auchrannie. Sadly any standards have followed him out the door.Lacking atmosphere. Very average food. The young staff are very pleasant and trying hard to please but poor management means the whole thing is a big let down.Avoid... PS The Hydro next door is much better.

Ate here in the downstairs bar last Sunday and had a similar experience to our last visit 2 months ago. The food was lovely......really tasty (I had salmon on potato salad & my husband had steak pie). More than 30 mins after finishing our main course, empty plates still on the table, and no sign of any available staff, we left to have coffee and dessert elsewhere. This was the same at our last visit when we had to leave the bar to ask the hotel receptionist for a menu!! (Again the food was great but it was difficult to get a second drink due to disappearing staff). Last week there were some staff around but a distinct lack of organisation / supervision....a man intermittently appeared (? from the upstairs restaurant) to issue some instructions but the young staff were unable to cope. This has been the case nearly every time we’ve visited, and seems to be the locals’ perception of the venue which is a real shame & must affect business.

I visited The View Restaurant for Sunday lunch with friends and was very disappointed I am sorry to sayThe food was enjoyable, however:-There was not a lot on the menu that I would have chosen. WE have eaten here before and I felt the same at that tie. We had been advised that the menu would be reviewed. It just didnt enthuse me, but that is ME.The starters were all received, Goats Cheese, Chicken Strips and Soup of the day. The starers were enjoyed, however no bread rolls were offered with the soup which was disappointing and other tables were offered rolls.Three main courses were delivered to the table, 2 x Rissoto and Lasagna. They all looked good and were enjoyed. The fourth main course was Haddock and Chips which did not arrive at the same time. The waitress was reminded soe 8 minutes later that there was still a fish and chips to be received. This then arrived a short while later as the kitchens were having an issue. The food was enjoyable but the lack of communication and delay in serving food was really not acceptable. It is embarrassing for everyone to have to eat when someone else has not been served. Standard practise is to serve everyone at the same time, not one at a time.Very disappointed and embarrassed for my guests.

This is now our all time favourite restaurant for family occasions . The whole establishment has been beautifully renovated to a very high standard and in good taste. The views across the Clyde are lovely especially on a sunny day like today. They have made good use of the table arrangements to give everyone as much of a sea view as possible. The menu offers a wide enough choice whilst still allowing everything to be cooked fresh in their own kitchen by a proper chef. This is the place to come if you are looking for really good quality cooked food, fresh vegatables and delicious, homemade desserts . The prices were very reasonable compared to other local restaurants where the food is just very poor quality, bought in pub grub such as the Loch house in Lochwinnoch. The staff deserve a special mention too, despite being very busy, they coped well and were very pleasant. My personal favourites today were the Roast sirloin of beef lunch with all the trimmings and the passion fruit cheesecake!Special thanks to the chefs for another wonderful family meal at Seamill house hotel from the Altan/Mackie family.

The hotel is beautifully finished, but I wouldn’t expect any less from the building team-that done this. The staff, yes overall nice, young but nice. The service, slow, and there was only 4 parties, including ours in.The Food, mmmm pate was typically pate, the “Cullen Skint Risotto, like a near by restaurant who simply call it haddock and pea risotto, this is what it is, there is nothing else fancy about it, though pleasant it was just haddock and pea risotto. Now to the passion fruit and coconut cheese cake, the passion fruit sauce piped on the side of the slate serving plate was extremely tart, the coconut cheesecake, sprinkling a few shards of desiccated coconut on the top of a tasteless cheese cake topping does not constitute as coconut cheesecake. One of our group told the waitress this, but she simply gave a wee side smirk and that was it! Oh and ensure you eat the ice cream first so that it doesn’t melt off the side of the roof slate serving plate. Now to the drink, what bar runs out of gin in this day and age, especially when their menu advertises all flavours!!!! Seriously they had ran out one drink down! Now I’m no genius but when you know you have such a popular drink you stock it, when you run out, nip to asda and get more in!!! We were really disappointed Overall overpriced and a bit small!!!

The restaurant is nicely decorated in a modern style and the view out to Arran is fantastic. I would love to go at sunset. We went on an Itison 2 course deal which was exceptional value. Crispy chicken strips with jalapeño sauce and salmon roulade with dill salad were lovely starters. I took the risk of trying the Cullen Skink risotto (risotto can be a bit hit and miss in the UK) which was perfect, flavoursome and just the right texture for me. Would love to return on a Summer's evening to see what must be a fabulous view over the Firth of Clyde. Anyway, on a cold dark evening the restaurant was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The food was amazing, with everything home produced - beetroot and whiskey cured salmon, crispy duck croquettes followed by venison bourgignon, pan fried chicken breast with white onion and chestnut puree. This beautifully decorated and refurbished restaurant within the hotel lets itself down with bad service. We went there yesterday for a birthday lunch we arrived at 1pm and it wasn't busy got a nice table near the window with the view over to Aaran. We waited 40 mins for our starter which was delicious and another 40 mins for our main. The waitress apologised for the delay and said she dropped the plate my lunch was on. She said it would be 5 mins and we accepted that. After 20 mins it still hadn't arrived and we decided to leave. Such a disappointment as the meals coming out looked great shame about the service.

Decided to introduce my elderly mother to the Seamill House Hotel, her reaction was going to be much valued, after my partner and I's recent stay with this new, quality player on Ayrshire coastline. Upon arrival, Justine welcomed us with an exceptional manner. As per the last report, first impressions count. Her manner was warm, friendly and engaging. I asked if she wouldn't mind giving my mother a sneak peak at room number 7 (Suite) and The View dining room. Both left her speechless..Compliments asked to be paid to Justine's father in Law (Owner) and Husband (Manager). This is a Hotel of the highest cleanliness, quality and attention to detail.. We took our seats in The View dining room and were presented with the 2 or 3 course, set Festive Menu options. Good choices but as we were still recovering from Xmas Day, we decided upon 2 starters in my case and mum, a starter and desert. My beetroot and whisky smoked salmon tasted lovely, followed by goats cheese and grilled vegetables quite nice.. Mum's ham hough and lentil soup was very tasty, followed up with Xmas pudding and ice cream. Without exception, all of these dishes were lovely, but even for starters, verging on Nouvelle in portion size. Don't get us wrong, it's a stunning place to dine, but am absolutely sure the family owners will want The View to be renowned also for it's food choice, quality and value, in addition to what can be seen off shore. Without ANY prompting en route back home, mum said she had thoroughly enjoyed her lunch but was slightly surprised at the final bill amount, versus portion sizes, which she described as nearing "small". Mum's roll with soup was hard and her Xmas pudding, tiny. For a restaurant of this quality, you don't really expect to be presented each dish with a " there you go" from the waiter. £45 pounds for 4 very small courses plus 1 drink.. It's a really hard one picking any form of little niggle for such a friendly high class place like this. All we know though is, we would love food experiences, to match the rest of this fantastic hotel and people within.. Thank you once again Seamill staff for your warm hospitality..

I was taken to Seamill house hotel by friends and was taken aback by the beautiful surroundings, the moment I went through the door I knew I was in for a good time.We went to the reception and was taken to the restaurant which is up stairs, again the beauty of the place was outstanding. We were then invited to take a seat at one of the tables and given a menu which was suitable for all tastes. The meal when it came was beautifully cooked and plentiful, well worth a visit. We did not stay overnight because we only stay a few miles away, but the receptionist told us the have a room with a bath that looks over the Clyde .

Situated on the first floor of the hotel, this restaurant offers not only a great selection of well prepared food, but pretty much every table has a view of Arran and the sea. In the evening it has a lovely ambiance and a good buzz to it. Waiting staff very helpful and pleasant....all in all a great venue for sampling the best in Ayrshire hospitality.

What a beautiful hotel/restaurant! This place has been renovated to an amazingly high standard and no expense spared. From the luxurious thick carpets to the gorgeous Jo Malone toiletries in the public bathrooms and stylish staff uniforms- lots of thought and investment have been made in this place. The view restaurant is spacious and looks across to Arran. The tables are set far enough apart that you feel a sense of privacy when you are chatting and enjoying your meal. The menu is varied and it is obvious that the chef makes an effort to source good quality produce and you don't get the impression that anything is just bought in ready. The bread rolls were very fresh, soup was homemade and the Sunday roast was wonderful. We were a party of 8 and we were all pleased with our food. The vegetables were well cooked, coleslaw delicious and homemade, good roast potatoes. Good selection of desserts. Very reasonable prices for 2 or 3 course menu. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. We have already booked for another family group meal next month.

We booked a table for 9 to celebrate my son’s birthday on the evening of Saturday 20th October. All of us had a wonderful meal. The table arranged for us was nicely positioned. The quality of the food and the presentation of the 3 course dinner was superb. We had venison, sea bass, trio of lamb, burger and the fish and chips. We did have to wait a while for our order to be taken BUT this was because the food was all freshly made and once the order was taken everything went smoothly. The ambience in the restaurant was lovely and the waiters were attentive. The cocktails were delicious too. We will definitely be back. Well done to the chefs for an outstanding meal!!!

Reading the reviews, I am now wondering if we just went on a bad day. I had reserved a table, but still had to wait for a table to be set out for us. Waitress told us she would come back for our drinks order and we waited ages until another waitress took our order, we decided to order the food at the same time, seeing they were a bit slow. Received drinks and our order of soup came much later. No soup spoons accompanied the soup, not sure how they wanted us to eat the soup, perhaps with a knife and fork? Had to ask for soup spoons. Then came the butter and a while later after catching the attention of the manager we received the bread rolls. We all ordered steak, but once again we were not given the correct utensils and had to flag down the waitress once again to give us steak knives. The staff seemed to be more impressed in chatting with their barman than serving their customers. The manager was not doing his job and needs to train his staff. The only plus side to our evening was the view and the food.

I was in a party of nine people, we all had lovely food with no complaints. Staff were lovely and professional. The decor was modern and trendy. The views from the window look out to the sea and we watched the sun set as we finished off our food. The fish and chips were amazing, the best I've had in a long while. Would really recommend this restaurant and would defiantly come back if I was in the area again.

Food was amazing, staff were very nice and friendly, good atmosphere. I had the chicken breast, which was cooked perfectly, maybe a touch too much salt for some but very good indeed, great sauce. Dauphinoise potatoes could have had a bit more colour on them but that's nit-picking, excellent meal. By all accounts the Burger and Cod special were excellent too.I went for the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Tablet ice cream, sounded a bit too sweet on the menu but was actually just right. Honestly, the best STP I've ever had, whoever made it needs commendation because it was just out of this world! My co-diners had the Peach Melba and were raving about that too.Highly recommend this place, I've been going to The Waterside for years but it's so hit-and-miss, The View knocks it out of the water. Staff are fantastic, really couldn't have been better and the food was sensational. If the owner/chef/manager is reading this, it would be great to have more local seafood on the menu, I know there's sole and bream on the main course, but something like a seafood linguine or maybe lobster/langoustines/mussels/cockles/oysters etc would be good on the main course options, so much great produce on your doorstep :D

It was very busy with several parties in and although we had a wait for the main course the staff apologised and made sure we had drinks and how long the food would be. Overall the service was excellent and the general decor and view of the sunset over Arran makes this a special venue. Decided to chance having a lunch on a Saturday without booking. Hotel is still fairly new and the receptionist who greeted us was really lovely, showing us the downstairs informal bar and restaurant, then took us upstairs to the more formal restaurant "The view". It wasn't too busy and we were accommodated without a problem. We had the fish and chips and it was delicious, really fresh and although it took a wee while between starter and main, it was evident that our lunch was cooked from scratch. The view over to Arran can be seen from the restaurant and although it us a bit obscured it does add a nice extra. Had a really relaxed time and will definitely return and recommend. Receptionist deserves a special "well done", as her friendly helpful attitude definitely made us want to eat there and to return

This was my first visit here with my Mum as a treat for her. The views are lovely and it was a beautiful, if cold, sunny day. There is a small lift to the upper floor where the restaurant is situated but an easy access to the car park at the rear would be of great benefit to guests as we had to enter via the front door.. Nevertheless, the restaurant is tastefully and well-designed with attractive lighting. The food was perfect, every course, though we didn't have coffee and the staff were very attentive as a previous diner said. Nice Elemis toiletries in the ladies, which were conveniently situated. I'll be back with friends to try one of the booths next time as I'm soon to be a near neighbour here.

The furniture and fittings were of high quality. The top floor restaurant offered terrific views over the Firth of Clyde .The tables were set with first class cutlery and the wine list was reasonable priced .The menu choice was varied , to suit all tastes ,and the food was not expensive . Each course was well presented in a eye catching arrangement. The soup we chose was carrot with a twist of ginger. (very tasty).Main courses taken were roast, steak pie and chicken. All had good sauces to accompany, although the steak roast was a little underdone for our taste. Most of the group thoroughly enjoyed the meal however.Unfortunately the service was a little slow although there were clearly enough waiting staff, in what was not a busy dining room.It suggested that the difficulty may have been in the kitchen staffing? All in all a good experience.

Visited here Sunday 3rd February with my partner and aunt, all I can say is wow the place is beautiful inside, we had booked for 1.45 and our table was ready when we went in. Our coats were taken promptly and once we were seated we were asked for our drinks order really quickly which is excellent. The three of us had potato and leek soup to start with which was delicious only downside was that we didn't get the bread with the soup but they clearly forgot. Three mains was the Sunday roast which was roast beef, aww it was so tender and delicious I just wanted more of it, it was served with mash, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and fresh market vegetables and done in a lovely rich gravy. It was out of this world. The staff were very pleasant and attentive, I wouldn't hesitate to go back here. Cost £72 for 3 and jar was 4 alcoholic drinks. Forgot to mention my partner and I shared a raspberry and strawberry delice with marshmallows and raspberry ripple ice cream. Please try this place you won't be disappointed . X
