Booked a table for 1300. Arrived at 1250 and waited for table to be prepared. Food ordered and waited 70 minutes and still no food and no explanation as to the delay. Other tables experiencing same problem even though there weren't too many diners. Had to leave without food and, again, no reasons given as to why there was such a long delay.

1st impression… dated venue but the views are brilliant. Food was just standard, chicken fillets were definitely the frozen ones and unfortunately we had to send the nachos back because the chilli was still cold in the middle. But rectified promptly by the staff which was great. The chips were a tad overdone and had that crunchy chip fat taste. Deserts were lovely though.

Perhaps people do not know that the public are allowed into the cafe/restaurant; it is never overly busy. The upside is that service is friendly, food comes quick and coffees are made with care. The view across the bay is fantastic too! Having visited a few times now we've been impressed with sandwiches, drinks and hot food. Traybakes nice too. It is a nice walk up from the town either along the old coast road or through cowie and up the cliffs. The new footpath to Skatie Shore means you can do a short circular past the golf course too if desired.

We got a very warm welcome and the service was excellent. The room is very clean, neat and tidy. The location means the view is great.Easy access and parking. The menu is limited but should satisfy most visitors ( check it out online). The food was delicious- real homemade tomato soup! Haggis balls didn’t last long - crispy on outside and soft within as they should be.Both had fabulous smoked haddock goujons and chips etc.Prices are very reasonable. Looking forward to a return visit.

Visited The View today with my sister for lunch. We were told about it having a new chef so decided to give it a try. We were far from disappointed. I ordered with combo lunch of soup of the day and a choice of either a sandwich, panini or wrap. I settled for a tuna mayo sandwich on brown bread and the soup of the day which was mushroom. The soup was thick, flavourful and delicious. Good quality homemade soup. The sandwich was also good. We both followed our lunch with espresso cheesecake. The cheesecake was also homemade, creamy and delicious. Very good quality and delicious. This will become a very busy restaurant. I would definitely recommend and return.

Lovely food and nice staff serving. Try the fish or steak pie very good. On a good day you may even see dolphins swimming by in the distance. It’s called The View for a reason. Very well priced.

We are social members and regularly visit the club for brunch or lunch and always pleasant staff experience and food quality high. The Cullen Skink soup, tomato & mozzarella dish with excellent bruschetta bread, macaroni cheese are particularly good and tasty. Lovely coffee. Absolutely stunning views😊definitely worth a visit.

My son and partner had their wedding reception at the Golf Club on Saturday September 2017. It was a fantastic day all over. Started at Castle Fraser for ceremony and Golf Club for meal and dance. I would just like to give my compliments to the chef for a beautiful meal the catering staff and bar staff for excellent service and especially for everyone who decorated the club and made the whole event a night to remember. Well done to all concerned and thanks once again for a fantastic venue.

Totally recommend "The View" restaurant for a bite to eat. Everything is first class from the service to the food. They cater for all diets inluding fussy eaters like my 12 year old son, nothing is too much trouble. If you live in Stonehaven or are just passing through it's well worth a visit. You won't be disappointed.

Went today for Sunday Lunch. There were 4 of us. 3 Soups starters and a hot salmon starter. 2 of the soups where Green Pea not bad and the other Cullen Skink. Now I've lived in Aberdeenshire for 5 years and from what I know of this ancient recipe, it contains various types of fish together with potatoes, onions etc. This soup was basically made of fish broth, potatoes and either cream or creme fraiche, couldn't really decide. You would need a magnifying glass to find any trace of fish. We opted for the pork belly main course special with potatoes and vegetables. The only mistake I made was not taking a photograph of this appallingly presented meal. Not only that but it consisted of a 2 inch piece of pork with crackling, 3 small baby potatoesi, a few FROZEN green small sliced beans, a FROZEN floret of cauliflower and one piece of asparagus. covered with a greasy gravy. It looked worse than something you'd order at a Roadside Cafe! for £10.95 there was probably about £2.50 worth of food on the plate and thats being generous. The other main course being Moroccan Chicken supposedly served with couscous and some kind of sauce. The chicken was a couple of drumsticks in a dish with this mysterious watery sauce over it and something not remotely resembling couscous with a small jug of Creme Fraiche. We did not complain as there was no point it would be more hassle than it was worth. We ate it as it didn't taste too bad and we were very hungry. We avoided another disappointment with the desserts just in case. What we ordered was RUBBISH again. I am not sure who is reviewing this restaurant and providing it with a top class rating. We all must have been in a different location. We had to go to the supermarket and buy more food to eat when we got home - a lesson sadly learned.

Travelling back from Aberdeen we went in to Drifters for a takeaway. It was mobbed with families and small children. The noise was in bearable. And the staff very busy, but they served us straight away. Nothing was too much trouble and food was excellent. Can't praise them enough for the service, food and friendliness. Highly recommend.
