Duncano's in Aberdeenshire

Was there for Sunday roast with a group of friends. For £20 dish we felt cheated and the roast beef came medium without us asking. When you asked for mixed you are given just a slab of beef which were inconsistent in sizes for each plates and HALF a piece of chicken breast. I order dinky roasted chicken for my son who was given the one same small piece of chicken for £12 with the veg and yorkshire pudding. One of my friend got a ridiculously small size of roast as shown. When asked to correct the orders. They explained that the portion sizes are correct (though one of the mixed plate got also another small piece of chicken thigh more than other) but manage to add more beef for the obviously small piece and changed the overcooked beef for us. We won’t be back and won’t recommend.

We are at the holiday inn for a couple of days booked this restaurant for our evening meal food was excellent recommend the Ribs the best Ribs I have ever tasted we were served by Kateland lovely manner great service even checked the buses for us to go to Aberdeen in the morning thank you

What a brilliant afternoon we had at Duncanos last weekend! Singer Paul Black was the entertainment and had the place bouncing! The food was great, the service was spot on, great to see the staff enjoying the entertainment also! Would definitely recommend the espresso martini cocktail, so good! Myself and my partner went as an end of the week treat, and we were absolutely delighted with the service and tastiness of the food. Shoutout to Poppy our waitress that served us, she was very professional and polite with us. Our food was delicious and fresh. If you’re looking for somewhere for a Sunday roast I 100% recommend Duncano’s. Finally a shoutout to Lynne the owner, she gave us a very warm welcome when we entered the restaurant and made us feel at home. Thank you team Duncano’s! We will always have our roast here!

Visited for the Sunday Lunch (third sitting of the day) and the food was amazing. Chicken was beautifully cooked, moist and the veg (which there was loads of) was lovely. Also served with huge yorkshire, gravy and stuffing. Staff were lovely and good choice of wines.

I ordered the ‘vegetarian option’ from the menu. I checked with the waitress what this was (I expected it would be a wellington or pie) she said it was a risotto or vegetables from the roast dinner and you could swap the meat for a side from their menu as the main part of the meal. I ordered the cauliflower cheese (side order option) with the roast vegetables. It was a shock when the bill arrived and we saw we had been charged £12 for the ‘vegetarian option’ (the vegetables) and then an extra £4.50 for cauliflower cheese?! (it was also tiny) I was under the impression the side was replacing the meat….not that it was extra for it. It felt a bit of a cheek considering the Sunday Roast with the meat is only an extra £1.50 more. I would have no problem paying £16.50 for a substantial vegetarian meal (or if they had included the cauliflower in the £12) but £16.50 for a plate of roast veg and a few pieces of cauliflower cheese!! In this day and age I think it’s pretty poor if they think those are acceptable offerings for vegetarians. There’s definitely other venues in Aberdeen city & shire (including Westhill) offering better Sunday alternatives for vegetarians…

Went for a Sunday roast fir our 1st visit here. Whilst the food was good it was very noisy in the restaurant & the service was just ok. One of our party had to ask for 4 different beers before they found one that was available & was then told it was the last bottle. Despite this a diner on a nearby table received a draught Peroni after we'd been told it wasn't available?? Would have liked more drinks during the meal but server was nowhere to be seen. Will probably give it another try as the food was good. Shame about the,service, could have been better!

This was our second visit for the Sunday Roast deal and it didn't disappoint. The platter for two is £36 and has plenty of everything - roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables.....and of course, it is Aberdeenshire, so skirlie! All of this was very tasty and served quickly by friendly staff. Excellent value, but book in advance as it is very popular.

I should set the scene that I am gluten and dairy intolerant and I don’t eat meat (do eat fish) - my 4 friends all eat everything else, we had so much to choose from. When I fancied a few things that didn’t have the (gf) mark next to them the waiter was so helpful in getting feedback from the kitchen about what was safe for me. There’s a whole vegetarian menu and loads of options. The food was 10/10 excellent. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The owner was a total delight! The atmosphere was great - perfect for families, friends catching up, or even a romantic date. We enjoyed some seriously delicious cocktails after our meal. All in all, I would highly recommend this place. Just what Westhill needs - I’ll be going back soon! Would recommend booking a table - I get a feeling it’s just going to get more and more popular.

Duncano's is nicely decorated, staff were nice, service was quick (but it was fairly empty)cocktails looked good. For the price of the dishes I was expecting bigger portions or high quality, unfortunately we received neither. 2x sliders had stale buns, chicken wings tasted cheap and just smothered in sauce and the calamari was terribly battered, rubbery and the bottom of the pot they came in was stuffed with paper to make it look like there was a larger quantity. Overall a disappointing eating experience.

Went for the Sunday roast beef. Nice cut of beef, plenty of veggies and potatoes, but soon got cold the way it was presented on the wooden platter.

Really nice place, food is great but really could benefit from a proper veggie roast option that isn’t a risotto when there’s so many good meat alternatives or a nut roast and also veggie gravy.

Took 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to the table, which only happened because I went to the bar and asked for drinks for the table. Waitress took our drinks order, and our food order at the same time (party of 2) and before she left the table forgot our order. One of the drinks was wrong. Drank it anyway as I had already sat for over 20 minutes before the drinks arrived. When the mains arrived, one of the sides was also wrong. Ordered mac and cheese but got cauliflower and cheese instead. Didn't make a big deal of it as I could eat that too, but there were so many errors in such a small order. Asked for the sweet menu, waited a further 20 plus minutes, and it didn't arrive; so I just asked for the bill, paid, and left. It was disappointing, as the food was nice and the place had a good ambience, etc., but I don't think I'll be back.

Despite being in a shopping centre, AMAZING food! The butternut squash and sage risotto was to die for. My sister opted for the lemon sole wrap ..equally as tasty and the chargrilled corn on top of the home made coleslaw was a great touch. My only criticism would be that the music choice was awful! Barry White and Culture Club...quite an eclectic mix 😳

First time at Duncano's and certainly won't be the last, roast beef was to die for and all the sides were beautiful, had creme brulee for dessert and my partner had sticky toffee pudding, both were absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to come back! Staff are outstanding, place is spotless and it's run so well, very impressed!

Fantastic meal to celebrate Grandma's birthday - a day early but suited kids and Grandkids! Meal was wonderful - 6 adults, 2 kids and a high chair. We decided on a Sunday evening especially for the Sunday Roast - cannot be beaten anywhere!! The Yorkshire puddings are to die for and the sides - macaroni cheese and honey, bacon wrapped sausages were a hit with the younger members. Excellent service, food and atmosphere - we will be back!!!!!

I had heard lots of great reports about this restaurant but hadn’t managed to get there myself till last night. It is hidden away in the shopping centre but what a treasure to find. The place was buzzing as soon as we arrived, fully booked and a real mix of friends, couples and families, i was greeted immediately by the most welcoming friendly staff and shown straight to a great little table to have a long overdue catch up with a friend. The cocktails were delicious and the menu provided a great mix of sharing platters, tapas or main dishes. We opted to share a Charcuterie Board and some tapas. My friend requested Gluten free and they provided a fantastic choice for us both. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and very reasonably priced and the drinks and chat flowed. I especially loved that even in a really busy restaurant we never felt cramped or too close to adjoining tables. Already booked for round 2 and really looking forward to trying even more of the menu. A real gem and just wish I’d gone sooner.

Had a lovely lunch at Duncano's. A real breath of fresh air for this area. Decor is stylish. Staff are smart and knowledgeable. The food choice was excellent and two gluten free diners were accommodated with no problems at all. Highly recommended. There is plenty of free parking and if you think you will overstay the 3 hours allowed in the car park, there is a machine inside the restaurant to extend your parking stay for free.

We were lucky enough to be given a voucher as a gift. Visited today for lunch and honestly can’t fault it, food was amazing & service perfect. We will be back, highly recommend.

This used to be the local pub and we thought we'd drop in for a bite on Sunday. It is much posher than we expected and although we felt a bit underdressed, the staff did not make us feel so. The only choice was the carvery or vegetarian option. This suited us quite fine and jeans servicecwas quick and the food excellent.

Every time I’ve been it’s been absolutely heaving but the staff always seem pleased to see us, are very friendly and provide quick, efficient service.

Big shout out to Lynne and her team. Great evening celebrating a family member’s 70th. Terrific ambience and whole team went above and beyond to make the evening memorable. Amazing food which was enjoyed by all. Will certainly be back in the near future.

We were looking forward to a lovely local night. The staff were lovely (Rory), good at upselling! We had the Tomahawk s steak to share - great value for money. However - cooking temperature of the steak was completely off. We asked for medium rare and got a blue steak. Love Rory - he is brilliant and we hope the menu may be better next time :)

There is no doubt that the food is amazing and staff are lovely but the service can be hit and miss with how long it takes to bring food out especially at lunch time.

Service very slow, not much choice on the menu had a steak and it didnt really have any taste to it, 2 of us was £100 woulnt be back.

Had the most delicious roast beef and chicken, served on its own wooden board with all the trimmings. Gorgeous roasted veg and potatoes, an excellent Yorkshire pudding and your own little jug of gravy (or jus if you’re posh…which I’m not). What more could you...

Lovely atmosphere, good service and tasty food! The side dishes definitely made it - if you get a roast make sure you splash out and get the sides.

The restaurant might give a more simple first impression - guest ill be positively surprised as food and beverages as well as service are very good!

I came here on Friday night for dinner around 19:00. They had a live singer which gave the place a nice vibe. They were really busy. Our food took about 45 minutes to come after ordering, so we were about ready to eat our hands...

Can definitely say I will be back again! New menu but same quality of food and service from the Duncanos team. Recommend the iron bru chilli dip.

Excellent service. Enjoyed a very relaxed lunch with my friend. It was quiet on a Thursday lunchtime but still a pleasant atmosphere and we enjoyed the food. Reasonably priced too. Shout out to the sticky toffee pudding which was very light and delicious.

Lovely venue, great service good menu food very very nice. The cost of drinks is higher than you would expect in a 'shopping mall' venue.

Really enjoyed our visit Saturday evening. Good vibe and quite a lively atmosphere for the weekend. Our server was Jake, who was really good. Able to explain the menu well, was very polite and friendly. First time we've been and will look forward to our next visit. Food is excellent, love the concept of sharing plates etc. Great modern food. Loved the Bao Pulled pork buns my fav. Also the sweet potato fries with parmesan cheese. The tiramisu was delicious. We came to Duncano’s for a double date. The layout of the restaurant is lovely, stylish and attractive. The owners have put in a lot of effort to get the place to where it is, especially considering that it used to be a pub - a massive well done! The server was great. The restaurant operates a tapas style menu - where you are meant to select several small dishes so that you can be full. The only problem is that each of the dishes are quite expensive. We felt that the dishes quality did not match the price tag placed on it. I understand prices are going up, but genuinely, they shouldn’t be this high. For example, two small burgers is £10. The bread and olive oil was around the £5 mark, yet was basic bread that was toasted slightly - looked like it was from Tesco. Perhaps baguette rounds? There was also such a range of dishes in the tapas, some Italian, others Asian, others Greek. Perhaps sticking to one style of dish from one country might help drive more customers and brings cost down, so you can lower the prices? Just an idea, I’m not the owner and I don’t mean to tell you what to do, just trying to work out a solution for what we experienced. Something to consider - perhaps doing full size Italian food (Westhill needs one of those, create some competition with the Holiday Inn?). Although we were impressed with the internal layout, we left feeling a little ripped off for the standard of food exhibited. I’m sure we’ll be back again!

I have dined here a few times now. Each time the food and service have been first class. . The fish finger wrap was a first for me but it was delicious. Its really worth a look. You wont be disappointed.

We visited with our 7 year old and my parents. The only option was the roast dinner despite having a dinky Duncanos menu . They didn’t accommodate our request of goujons for our daughter and she ended up with a bowl of chips and ketchup!...

We went in a three generation family group for Sunday lunch. Platters of food are provided from "dinky" to shared and are generous in size and of excellent quality.

I have visited Duncano’s now on two occasions and both times everything has been excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was very tasty. The afternoon tea was the best I have had and everything was perfect - will definitely be back...

Absolutely lovely red haired waitress who really prioritises customer service (sorry I didn't catch your name), the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a nice relaxed atmosphere and we did have a nice enjoyable meal. In total we had four small plates and drinks and we did enjoy it. Good quality food, nice and tasty, just unfortunately in my opinion it's a bit overpriced. £54 for the food pictured with a diet coke and a beer. It is however nice to have somewhere a bit classier to eat in Westhill. I imagine it'll be a hit for client entertaining for some of the local oil service companies.

We had a fantastic evening out at Duncano's in Westhill last night. Glancing in whilst passing the last few weeks I was impressed with what appeared to be a diligent staff and happy looking and sounding customers, so I was keen to try. It truly lived up to my expectations. The food was fantastic, beautifully presented and portion sizes were spot on. The staff were lovely, appearing magically any time they were needed yet nearly invisible the rest of the time. The decor was quietly classy and the ambience extremely pleasant. Just had a lovely light dinner here, we each had 3 small plates plus dessert. We had heard about it online and were at the shops in Westhill so thought we would pop in. Very nicely decorated inside, warm and relaxing atmosphere, it's hard to believe you are in a shopping centre and not on Queen's Road. Food was lovely, very tasty and service was excellent, very pleasant staff. Suited to couples and catch-ups with friends I would say. Well worth a visit if you don't fancy driving into town. We will be back!
