The Victoria Bar & Kitchen in Gateshead

Last night I booked a table as I have many times before always having good food BUT this was not! I ordered a chicken pizza and chips, they sent a bolognese by mistake. The replacement came and although it tasted all right it looked anaemic and the chips were very under cooked. My wife has a chicken burger and the upper bun was rock hard and inedible. This really was not as we had eaten on other occasions so please be aware standards may have dropped. On a positive note the Madri lager was lovely.

Absoulutly Amazing time food was amazing and the price is really good. I had a pizza and my mum had the salad super fresh food and really nice and helpful staff. Will definitly be coming back

Had my 50th Birthday Bash here it was perfect! Hired side back room which was beautiful, and also had room next to it too which was really good for those who wanted a quieter seating area. Manager & Staff were amazing and so accommodating, always asking if everything was OK. I had so many friends and family come up to me throughout tge night saying how nice the pub was and the vibe. I thoroughly enjoyed having my 50th here, and I had my own playlist music in the room, Manc/ Dance/Music it was a top night! Xx XX BIG THANK YOU TO THE VIC XX

I’ve been coming here over the years and it never disappoints, my absolute favourite is the Sunday dinner. It’s super tasty and you get plenty on your plate. It’s always a good amount of busy but never seems crowded, staff are well attentive. We were served by a lovely guy named Dean who was super friendly, it always makes the world of difference! I would highly recommend this place

Popped in here for a drink with friends the night before a wedding. I ordered a Guinness, which the young barman nearly threw over us as he put it down with such gusto. The pint was pouring all down the sides of the glass and it hadn't been left to settle like a Guinness should, there was no head on it at all. I said, in a polite manner, that that is not how a Guinness should be served and would it be possible to have another, these things happen with inexperienced staff so I didn't think it would be a problem. He disappeared and an older lady, who I assume was the manager or landlady, approached me from behind and began shouting at me that there was nothing wrong with the Guinness and they weren't going to pour another one as it would be wasted. She was quite unnecessarily aggressive when I was within my rights to request a new Guinness based on how it was served. They wiped the glass and topped it up so it had a head on it, but the whole encounter was bizarre and unnecessary. It's a shame that this happened as the bar has a nice vibe and it made myself and my friends feel very uncomfortable.

Sunday lunch,food was good but everything was luke warm,the plates/containers were stone cold,gravy was fantastic but cold!?Didnt complain as we really like the place and the staff are FAB!

Organised for a family gathering. Food was good value for what we received. Waiting staff were attentive and helpful. Only thing I would ask is that they turn the music down in the restaurant, or work out a way to separate it from the main bar because it was deafening at times and made it incredibly difficult to hold a conversation. Absolutely no reason for the music to be that loud and it's bad enough as it is when older members of our table struggle to hear at the best of times!

I came here with friends for Sunday dinner and had the most amazing meal with fantastic service. I had the trio of meats, all of which were faultless. The portions were very generous and included everything you would hope to see on a Sunday dinner - all the trimmings, not just some of them. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted great. Our table had a good view of the kitchen and we could see that Gary the chef runs a very tight ship - he clearly enjoys cooking, takes great pride in his work which is why the result was so good. Thanks again Gary! Special mention also to Emma who served us throughout the afternoon - polite, professional and service with a smile. Will definitely be back for more soon!

Booked here after our son who lives locally received a few recommendations, we booked a latish lunch for his birthday on a bank holiday Monday. It was busy with a nice vibe, as a family of 3 we have very different tastes and all very much enjoyed our meals. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, courteous and attentive but not overly so! Would definitely go back as we all enjoyed the food, there was also a good selection of drinks to entice ys back.

This venue has lost a 8+ years visiting customer for good for shier disraspect. I ordered food whilst at the venue at 11:55am on 7th April 2024. The venue was not busy, I waited 25 minutes with no one noticing I was still waiting for food, the venue filled and the whole venue had been served food before any of mine had arrived, I approached the manager who tried to initially say 10 minutes I waited, that was the forst instance of disrespect don't gaslight the situation and lie, bad managment, I advised him he was completely wrong and it was 25 minutes he agreed, not a single penny was taken off our bill which is so disrespectful regardless of the reson a customer should not have to pay the bill when there is a sheer lack of service, if the staff spent less time watching the football mabey they would have noticed. Such a shame when the chefs are amazing and the food is fantastic.

We came on Monday for my partners birthday meal and had looked at the menu beforehand really looking forward to it both wanting to try the rotisserie section of the menu. Upon ordering drinks the waiter double checked our order however my drink was still wrong when it arrived. My partner ordered the beef brisket and had the idea it would be lovely soft brisket kind of smokehousey vibe however what he was served was top side or silverside beef slices not brisket at all. Still very tasty but not at all what was on the menu. I ordered a side of greens with my meal which also never arrived. The food we had was tasty and the waiter was attentive however it was not at all what we were expecting and the errors with our order would put us off returning.

Absolutely shocking takeaway Sunday lunch. £27 for 2 dinners I’d expect much much better. Barely anything in the trays, the smallest amount of meat, 1 small soggy Yorkshire pudding each, the veg was hard. The whole thing was just a mess & hardly any of it. Won’t be going back! Rip off!

This place never fails to deliver. Food, service & staff all fantastic. Honestly can’t find fault at all and would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Team Vic for another cracking service.

I went to the Victoria last night with family for their festive fare. The food was delicious, I had the ox cheek as I’d never tried it before and it was so tender really nice. Service was great too, not too pushy but there if needed. The restaurant was busy so a lovely atmosphere. A really great night!

Mince n Dumplings wow fresh and delicious Also green vegetables and carrots , waiter even asked more gravy or vegetables … very nice touch … More mash please not a problem , one moment lovely little extra .literally 2 min pipping hot mash . We love the Vic food and have made several visits during the week however, we were very disappointed with sunday lunch. I had chicken meal which was £13.95. I got a thigh and a small leg and both were very dry. We got one small bowl with a small portion of turnip about 3 carrots and a couple of broccoli stems and this was for 2 people. Definitely not worth £13.95!

Came here with my 2 friends for Sunday dinner & really enjoyed it. Pork was cooked to perfection & veg was lovely. We shared 2 cheesecakes for dessert which were lovely too.

We called in for lunch on passing and what a lovely place it was. The food was reaonably priced, well cooked and nicely presented and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We are regular visitors, often have a sandwich but we went for pizza to share this time. It was lush! Thru also do a fab banana gin which I love! Be back next week.

Nice food. A good menu. Great portions and very cheap/excellent value. Meals are good but on my last visit, I opted for the Rotisserie Lamb which actually had no taste and was more like braised beef. The rest of the meal and other meals I've had are always great. Big portions, and good value. Will return.

Absolutely love this place. Excellent food and service, especially Tom the pizza chef, whose pizzas are outstanding and Michelle the server who got us seated even though we hadn’t booked and there was a large party in. Great banter as usual,can’t wait to return.

Went for a lovely Sunday lunch today and would thoroughly recommend but when it came to pudding my mum (the vegetarian ) asked if the cheesecake was vegetarian and was told by several of the staff that it was . We double checked and treble checked , but another staff member overheard and said she wasn't sure so would make sure . Then came back and said there was gelatine in there . Just seems that it needs a bit of veggie education as unless we pushed mum would of eaten it . No markings on the menu advising what is and isn't veggie . But a great meatfree selection on the Sunday lunch . Would go again but it did make a great experience a bit uncomfortable.
