The Verne Fish & Chips in Hart

The Verne Fish shop didn't, in my opinion, match up to other fish shops. The fish was smaller even though we had a large cod. It felt like a cheaper cut, and the skin was left on. The chips felt like they had been sitting around. They were soft and not crispy. Shame, really.

Very good chippy where everything is as it should be and the fish and chips are always fresh and good quality. Same people own the one in Ancells nearby if I understand it right and that is the same level of quality.

N/a for atmosphere as this is a takeaway. Always excellent fish and chips (and battered sausage, curry sauce and spam fritter - not tried the others but I would assume they’re also great!)

Staff are always friendly and fish and chips always excellent.

phoned in an order. it wasn’t ready so had to wait longer. then over charged not once but 3 times, guess they didn’t listen to the phone order… 2x cod & chips & 2 sausages isn’t really that complex, they still got it wrong when i got home, they gave me battered sausages instead, also food not wrapped up correctly so spewed out in the bag. i guess that’s what happens when you employ children to run your business. food was ok, service is dreadful.

Lovely food at good prices, the only reason it lost a star is the quite long serving time and the odd opening times. Sausage was tiny

Excellent chippy, pre ordering is possible so you can just collect on arrival. The food is really tasty, and they do kids meals eg chicken nuggest and chips, etc. Parking available outside, also sell ketchup bottles etc.

Nice fish and chips freshly cooked to order. Small cod and chips with mushy peas cost £11.40. Well cooked fish in a light thin batter and decent chips, could have been a bit crisper but still pretty good. Not quite as good in taste or value as the nearby Ho’s Fish Bar but still a decent chip shop.

Best fish and chips in Fleet by far. Always go here. Drive past other chip shops to go here. Always good service too. Very well run.

Was very busy on Friday and seemingly no system for ordering and paying. Food was fresh, but nothing special. A bit of organisation might help.

Best fish and chips in Fleet! Lovely big cods, chips are great. Never enough salt and vinegar but that's just me! Battered sausage is always a winner! Really great staff, always chatty and smiling with customers.

First time here in a while. A bit of a wait but you don't mind for great fish and chips. Owner also very friendly to everyone. Place to go really for your Fish and Chips

If you are after cooked to order food, that is of a high quality and standard, then go here. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food always tastes amazing. Myself and my family use these guys regularly, and have never had a bad experience with them.

I havent used this chip shop since before lock down as It was greasy and horrible, I was very unsure of trying again, But the new cook is absolutely AMAZING everything was cooked perfectly, not greasy and so tasty, will 100% be going back. Well done to the new fryer, made my family's evening

Absolutely unreal beef and onion pie and chips. Only made better by the charismatic, attractive and charming server with the long brown hair and beard. Best chippy around, also try ancells.

I love this Fish and Chips Shop, I always find the staff are very friendly and talkative, and of course they provide good food to takeaway in a short amount of time. The prices are fair and you get what you'd expect, this is definitely your typical British food at its best. Highly recommend it to everyone.

The fish we had was amazingly fresh and delicious, fried really well in a good crispy batter. Looking forward to eating through the menu!

Fab and they do chips, couldn't believe it, my luck was really in that evening and no mistake.

Virtually cooked to order, very little kept in the hot display cabinet - excellent food - l have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Arrived in time to beat a rush of customers. Prices are normal for the area. The fish was nice white & flakey, batter was crisp & pleasant. The chips were brown & a little disappointing.

I can't figure out if the chips are warmed up Or the fat needs changing 3 times I've been in a few months There dark brown in colour and taste horrible And more bits then fat chips Disappointed as my local chip chop Means a trip to ancels farm As you can't go wrong with the chips from there

Always overcharging but when questioned they come up with right amount straight away so they know what their doing,has happened few times now so this is not a one off, but no sorry from them especially owner who just stares at you as if you're mad for questioning it. Zero customer care but food is good i wonder how many elderly people get done.

Very disappointed with fish and chips , looked and tasted as if they were reheated from lunchtime. Maybe better if bought on Friday or Saturday but will not buy on early weeknights again. 😔
