The Vaults in Carmarthenshire

Stopped in for 1 drink to kill some time, staff were friendly and the pub has a nice vibe to it, chose a Guinness and it was the worst one I've ever had, tasted like it'd been watered down which isn't what you want for a fiver.

We popped in for a quick bite to eat. The Vaults is a lovely place, great atmosphere and food. Staff are brilliant. Friendly and professional. We had the sharing tapas menu of 2 tapas +a side for £16. It was delicious, the quality of food was great, and it was very enjoyable. Our only complaint was that the tapas only had 3 pieces of bread and 3 of the meat. Could have done with 4 of each to be a true sharing tapas, but meh. Otherwise, fab.

Had our Christmas party meal here which was very nice - but the food was not quite hot enough. Quite a long wait for puddings but they were short staffed & did their very best. Room nice & warm & drinks not overly expensive.

Sadly left it late to book a meal for some friends, the seats were split up & right by the front door. All the girls kept their coats on!! So so cold, when asked if we could be moved - no answer came. Food was average, but don’t order the prawn starter - only had 3!!! Not great, won’t be going again.

We walk in and grab a seat, quick look at the menu and approach the bar, my wife asks if they do cocktails? A sarcastic reply is "well we are a cocktail bar". Let's clear that up, they are a cocktail bar with no cocktail menu, in response to my wife's question no menu was offered. Then there's a problem with food and some excuse about changing menus (try telling customers there's a limited menu before they order). The sarcastic barman changes his attitude when we want a refund and he doesn't know how to process it on contactless payments, some apologies are given but the guy was not a good host and should probably look for some other employment that suits his personality better. Other than cocktails the drinks on offer are standard fare. The sausages I had with mash and gravy were chip shop sausages, nice enough but you'd expect better quality, the mash was heavy and not nice. The fish and chips my friends had looked decent and they said that it was okay. Certainly not going back.

Incredible meal in a lovely setting. Steak, chicken supreme and truffle fries were all delicious. Our server Meg was wonderful, friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed our experience here

Pleasant restaurant early lunch, clean, tables not close together. We had fish/chips. Only wish I could cook fish and chips like that so crispy. Compliments to chef.

Upstairs for a surprise birthday party! It was very well organised with very helpful staff! Food was tasty and plentiful! There has been a few years since we've been here, we will return if we need a place for a special occasion! Very popular as a bar now and was very busy when we visited!

Very pleasant enjoying a beer from the pop up bar looking at the harbour shame it wasn't there the next time we went.

Had a quick pint, over priced and not much atmosphere

Really disappointed. Took friends out for the afternoon/evening that were visiting for the weekend. Arrived at 5pm had booked a table, tried to put us upstairs first of all on a table for 3!!! Opted to sit outside, managed to get a table for 4. Table was dirty hadn't been wiped and had cigarette ash all over it. Cocktails had so much ice in them thought I was drinking a slush, hardly any alcohol (couldn't taste the gin and I did watch her make them one shot of gin for 2 drinks!!!), barmaid was not particularly friendly and was quite huffy when I ordered half a dozen gin fizz. Was meant to eat food there but we decided to eat elsewhere after happy hour. Such a shame as it used to be lovely. Not sure if I will go back again now.

Atmosphere was nice and the live music acts were great.

We had an absolute ‘find’ here yesterday (5.3.22). We were searching for somewhere to eat and they were so accommodating. Simon was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Friendly staff too. We had the fish and chips and 3 x burger - all presented well and were delicious. The tartar sauce and pea accompaniment to the fish were perfect. Thank you guys - some very happy visitors.

Order the Baby Guinness, trust me 😉

We ordered our Valentines meal on Saturday and we weren’t disappointed. The service was great and food was delicious. We can’t wait to order from here again and can’t wait to come dine in when we’re allowed.

A lovely place to have a Sunday lunch, the staff were friendly, the service was good and the dinner tasty and fresh. Great value for money and the sticky toffee pudding was wonderful!

Came to carmarthen to meet friends and considering the way the world is right now the vaults absolutely have it right!! Staff were attentive and massively covid friendly. Nothing was too much for them. Our waitresses cerys and tasha were incredible and clearly take their job very seriously. Will definitely return and recommend to everyone I know. Best few hours out on ages!!!

Honestly the best place in Carmarthen to go to for food and drinks! The food is cooked to perfection, I had the hunters chicken with chips the first time I went then the buttermilk chicken strips with chips also! The portions you get for your money is amazing as my plate was bursting! I also has a side of garlic bread which was cooked lovely. The friendliest staff too in the vaults than in any other place in Carmarthen I’ve been for food and drinks, they came over and had a good old chat once we finished our food and it was lovely to have someone so polite and nice to have around! We also came during happy hour and the cocktails were 2 for £8 which is amazing and definitely getting more for what you’re paying for! Also the restaurant and bar have an amazing atmosphere, it’s very rustic looking and just so inviting! All in all I would be back here in a flash, keep up the amazing work! (I wish I took pictures of my food but as soon as it was set down I ate it all!)

Not much of a menu, fish and chips was nothing to write home about ,

Had smoked mackerel pate from the lunch menu, and a pint of Guinness. It's set right on the square, so a brilliant location on a sunny day. The food was fresh and tasty. The butter fried bread was cooked well, not fatty, just light and crispy. Salad, crispy and fresh. Pate tasted of mackerel and herbs, a bit of salsa to add some kick. Nice and balanced for a lightish lunch. Not too heavy. Guinness wasn't great, but I'd still give it 5 for the other factors.

Lovely lunchtime meal and cocktail here today. Staff very friendly. Husband said it was the best cod and chips he has had in a long time. Lovely cocktail menu, well illustrated. I opted for the war of the roses cocktail. Keep up the good work. We hope to return again soon.

Partially our own fault because we left it late to book a table so this was the only place we could get in. We were seated outside even though it wasn’t busy and we appeared to be the only table eating food. The tables were very wobbly. The service was not very welcoming at all, except for the other young boy who was friendly. We were served by a young girl with dark hair who was not very accommodating or friendly and was rather blunt. We had to ask for cutlery and to order more drinks and when one end of our table asked for a drink she just left instead of asking would anyone else like anything. They made us order our dessert before we’d even received our starters because the kitchen closes at 8:30 - we would’ve expected to be treated a little better as a table of 7 having 2-3 courses each. The food was ok - The steak was “alright” (didn’t give steak knives) risotto was good, but the garlic bread was very thin, dry and too crispy. Mayo in a sachet is a bit mediocre. The brownies would’ve been nice if they were warmed and the lemon “meringue” was disappointing as there was barely any meringue. Apple tart was nice. Overall not worth the money and won’t return to eat. A bit of TLC could improve this place easily.

Brilliant lunch , seafood plater and charcuterie and nachos - coming out of lockdown , welcome enjoyable lunch and friendly helpful staff. Good service from the new ‘Vaults “ back in Carmarthen!
