Great place to have a pint, food is lovely and plentiful, always an event on for something to do and does a lot for local charity causes

Went for Sunday lunch. Lamb tasted lovely. The gravy didn't have much flavour and the presentation wasn't the best. Veg could've done with being drained off more too as there was a pool of water on the plate. Possibly some roasted parsnips and a bit turnip(swede) would be a good addition. Overall it was okay, I ate it but wouldn't rush back.

Attended a private event, had a great night, bar staff were fab 🙂

I was asked if I was selling anything or was a mackem. I confirmed I was neither and finished half a disconcerting pint and left. Wife was also accused of being my friends mother, which went down well.

Bar tender and member of staff fighting behind the bar another customer grabbed man and held him in arm lock around neck he was unable to breath untill a lady interviewed and man let go of other man

My wife is a singer and played at this venue recently. We received a really warm welcome from the staff and the customers really got into the show. Lovely family who run the place, highly recommend this place!

The food is delicious and I have never been disappointed Ann's fish&chips are to die for and curry and sunday lunch or lush

Me and mam tried this for the 1st time today. I've got to say it was a very nice dinner. We both had roast beef dinners. The roast beef was beautiful, falling apart, very little fat if any and very tasty. 2 yorkshire puddings, which were lovely. Lots of peas. As mam is old she likes her carrots reasonably soft and she enjoyed them very much. Cabbage, nice, mashed potato, nice and roast potatoes very nice and the gravy was very nice too with enough on there. The only negative is that they put it in a polystyrene container and I can always taste that on the food, I think I may have super sensitive taste buds, as I seem to be the only person that I know that can taste this. Overall, very nice and will be back for more. £7.50 each for the roast beef.

Been here a few times and the food is gorgeous. Love the Sunday lunch and pudding. Worth the drive over from Birtley. Top notch

Don't be put off by the exterior of this typical 1970s pub! It's a gem, with warm, welcoming, friendly staff, absolutely fantastic home-made food (remember what that is like???), at amazingly reasonable prices. Drinks are very reasonably priced, too. The bus stops right outside (terminus) so travel couldn't be easier, either! I'm already looking forward to returning there soon.

Nice beer but it's a shame they allow vaping at the bar . It's a good replacement for smoking but still not nice if your a non smoker . They don't allow dogs either. They would get more passing custom if they did. There excuse is they serve food however kitchen and restaurant is separate from the bar . Again shame
