The Valley Restaurant in Broadland

Upon entering there was a strong smell and decor to match walking into an elderly person's care home. We were very surprised, however we didn't want to judge as the kitchen aren't in charge in decor so the food could be amazing. When I looked at the Carvery you could clearly see it had been sat there a while. There wasn't much on offer by means of vegetables and the gravy was like water. We went to our tables to still not have our drinks and I looked down at the plate with low expectations. Not one piece of what was on my plate tasted edible. I called the manager over. She asked what was wrong, despite me saying all of it was disgusting, and so I went through every item on my plate: Turkey was dried out and rock hard, gravy was water and light brown, roast potatoes had been reheated and been sat a while and got hard, cauliflower cheese was so hard my fork nor knife will cut it (and I showed her a demonstration) and the cheese sauce is just like the gravy - water, the broccoli was like the cauliflower and the Yorkshire pudding - wow - I've never tasted anything like it. I asked what recipe the chef was using or was his flour severely out of date as it tasted like plasticine from school, like the play-doh and to finish it off the sausages were still pink inside so I didn't feel comfortable eating it considering the state of everything else on my plate. I tried everything on the plate but could not take more than one bite of it, it was that bad.

A restaurant within the hotel. New tdh menu each day but bar menu stays the same. Lots of tables reserved for golf groups.

We travelled here from our holiday cottage for a slap up meal to end our holiday and were sadly disappointed. They had put on a carvery and one dish was sausages! We did not stay. They were full of apologies and our drinks were free

Always a consistent standard of food .. sadly staffing issues at busy times often mean that service can be painfully slow

Ideal venue for ladies that lunch food and service very good. Also Sunday carvery to be recommended.

Pulled pork steak burger is very nice. The staff are very friendly but the bar restaurant is very dated.

golfing break with friends, so the meal was part of the deal. Excellent Carvery, with plenty of fresh veg and selection of meats.

Good food at dinner but was disappointed with the breakfast being poor quality food products. Poached egg was done to perfection and waitress was very cheerful and quick on her feet.

Went for the Sunday carvery and found no change from our last visit. Helpful staff but very ordinary food overpriced compared with other local venues.The 1970s building needs updating,no atmosphere and to much noise from out of control children.plus point was the staff.

I've been to various functions with my wife and friends held in the Valley restaurant. The food is of a high standard and the service staff very friendly and helpful.

Friendly helpful staff good well cooked food varied selection of meat and vegetables attentive staff who were not pushy and did not rush us.

Went with friends for lunch ans as always wonderfully friendly staff, very helpful, good food served hot very good value for money! Thanks

This was a Golden Wedding Celebration, we had 62 guests, it was a 3 course meal, chosen from several choices . It was excellent.

Great pre wedding meal - about 20 in our party, hadn't booked, just turned up ! Food was fab, staff lovely - we did have to wait a while as there was a big function on and their meal was being served at same time as ours but didn't mind waiting as staff were friendly, accommodating and apologetic.
