The Unicorn Hotel - JD Wetherspoon in Harrogate

The staff work hard at providing a very comfortable stay within the confines of a listed building. The room hd everything we wanted- an extensive selection of refreshments, lots and f towels,hanging space,iron,hair dryer etc & we literally didn't want to get out of the bed. Add that to the excellent location - we would definitely come again.

Had dinner here was a pretty good steak for the price! Vodka nice and cheap too

Called in for a quick pint . Good atmosphere decent pint or two and a bite to eat .all in all pretty good

We were staying at the spoons in Thirsk so we went over to Ripon to check out The Unicorn with a future stay in mind. Great location. Staff friendly and informative. Will definitely visit in the future.

Excellent stay marked rooms as 3 star simply because the building is extremely old and wetherspoon have done the best possible however our carpet was fraid to the bathroom door I'm thinking rooms must be getting ready for a re vamp however, don't be put off the place and staff are excellent. Despite the fact that it was a busy new years eve the service was the best I've experienced at any Wetherspoons.

Great hotel, clean, comfy, warm and the staff are courteous and helpful. The bar and food is absolutely brilliant and the staff, who are obviously busy remain courteous and helpful. We love this place!

Been to Weatherspoon's hotels before so know how good they are and the service from the staff is excellent. This is no exception, clean, friendly, and a great base to go exploring the local area's. Only Saturday night decided not to drink in there due to a very roudy group of young girls shouting and screaming loud (I'm too old for that) . So popped round the corner to the Unruly Pig. The food in spoons is cheap and cheerful and a fantastic choice of ales to choose from see photo of the bar. Would definitely recommend this place as a great place to stop off. Carl

What a terrible experience. We walked into the unicorn hotel as the first place we arrived in ripon. We were met with abuse from the locals as my wife is suffering from cancer and has unfortunately lost all of her hair. We spoke to some staff as we had children with us. The first member of staff tried to help but as soon as the manager turned up he was referring to the man by name and seemed to take no action. Obviously a local drinker can get away with murder in here. Disgrace of an establishment

Was impressed with fish & chips..best fish I've had in a while from anywhere and cheap .. I will return

Everything you expect from Spoons ~ friendly, quick service, good choice of cask ales and toilets upstairs! Handily located in the Market Square; a great base to explore Ripon from.

Very accessable and quick service.

Owned by wetherspoons this is the place to go if you want to feed a family at a reasonable cost. The place is always warm with a real fire in colder seasons and is clean. The staff are friendly and accommodating

It's a fairly compact room...but with everything u might need to hand..plus plenty tea n coffee etc...but more importantly...excellent location..and for £74 per night...what's not too like..

Nice room.. clean, comfortable and a good stock of tea / coffee. Great location in the centre of Ripon..a lovely place. Only seemed to be one very busy member of staff in the restaurant Monday morning and no fresh fruit available for breakfast options as they had run out.

Wifi doesn’t work at all in either of our rooms. Mattresses quite hard and pillows very hard - luckily I brought my own. My room was at the back and over the beer garden so had to keep windows closed even though it was very warm. I was told that though there might be noise it would be quiet after 10pm, but they were still going full throttle at 11.30pm. Rooms clean and shower pretty good. Main attraction was price and location. Wouldn’t rush back.

We ate at the Wetherspoon. Food was OK. But when it came to dessert, we ordered a chocolate brownie with ice cream. The brownie turned up with no ice cream. The girl said "we haven't got any". I said nobody told us that. She said "it would have told you on the app". I went to the bar and the girl who served me said she hadn't realised. So I asked for a refund to which I was told "you can't have a refund as you've eaten it". I said no, my granddaughter has eaten the brownie but not the ice cream. And then came the punchline: "the ice cream was free anyway".The menu of course lists it all as part of the dessert. What amazing customer service (not).

Saturday evening and onwards, you know what to expect at Wetherspoons. Busy, loud, and noisy. But great value.

Good value place to stay, rooms clean. Staff pleasant and friendly.

It says this is a 2 star hotel. It’s far greater than 2. Everything in the room that you could possibly need for a short stay , complementary bottled water, nice tea tray. With biscuits, drinking chocolate and nice tea bags .

Great cheap and the rooms are lovely. Fantastic pint of Guinness and the service was spot on...pub was busy but didn't take long to get served

Lovely Hotel in the market place, unfortunately not enough staff in the bar to cope with the amount of customers 😞.

Problem with food available as fryer gone off however staff all seemed tired and not really very pleasant

Stayed for 2 nights,busy pub due to d day celebrations in the Square,good staff,good service,parking,kid friendly. Found out better deals were on offer than what we paid in advance and try and check your room view from window. We got view of above kitchen I think.

Good pub to get yourself a drink at a relastic cost, especially Ale. Staff here are friendly and professional. Must give a shout out to Luke, who grafted through waves of customers during a busy weekend and went the extra mile.

A good witherspoons with a good choice of real ales and good service well worth a visit

Room 106.... If you like a view... 106 is not for you... But... the room is, very comfortable and very clean. Of cause, on suite bath and toilet. Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate with biscuits..! Breakfast was filling and as with JD.. prices are not bad. WiFi in the building is patchy, full in the bar area, but nothing in the area, where we was staying. Interaction with staff was welcoming and helpful 2 night stay for a local wedding. (Photos taken just before we left...)

Nice and cosy room, cheap cider downstairs at Wetherspoons

A nice pub in the centre of Ripon. Called in after a trip to Fountains Abbey. Good service and a good atmosphere and most importantly, a nice pint of cider! 👍

Couldn't order at rhe table food and handy location. Room had a nice view of Ripon Cathedral

For its price it’s very difficult to criticise this hotel. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. Also the location is perfect. Staff I also felt tried their best to accommodate us wherever possible. Bar staff were a little surly , letting the other hotel related staff down in my opinion but all hotel staff seemed extremely friendly. Would recommend.

Love my F&C here, but their chicken wings/chips take some beating. & on the table (Hot) within 5mins,, & they have my fav’ Theakstones Old-Peculiar on draught (@£2.:65p) really takes some beating 💜

Had the chicken bites with sweet soy dip and spicy rice. Very nice, the chicken was very succulent, the dip was good.

We went for a meal but had a drink and left. The tables were sticky, menus grubby and although they had vegan options on the menu they were all very high calorie and I wanted a small meal.

Service was good. Food was poor but cheap. So it filled a empty hole.

Called in for a drink and a bite to eat, nice place friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere will definitely call again sometime. Served quickly via app even as the place was quite busy. Bank Holiday Sunday yesterday very busy, but again served quickly and with friendly staff....couldn't fault the food!

Typical of any spoons a little grubby but you know what to expect so the choice is yours . The food couldn't be faulted. The great plus were the staff .. very friendly polite and efficient well done guys

Great pub with good selection of food and drinks. Nicely located in the centre of town. This time we enjoyed a chicken katsu Curry and a kids chicken strip burger. Budweiser was my choice of tipple and it didn't disappoint, ice cold!
