The Turpin View in St. Helens

Took advantage of the £40 deal for 2 people offered, this included entry to club for the Rod Stewart tribute act, main meal and bottle of wine. Entertainment was great and the food was amazing. Friendly welcoming atmosphere. Thanks Ant n team, will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Food was lovely. It was a bit quiet which was a bit surprising as the food was great. Toilets need a refurbished but were clean.

Had funeral wake there. They supplied room for free and the buffet was discounted slightly too which was a nice touch. Pleasant staff. Food nice. Room lovely. A few people made comments about the ladies toilets but overall was a nice place.

Had a good night on New Year's Eve 2023 here. Hope to return in 2024 to watch other acts performing.

Spent New Years Eve here being entertained by the talented Bad Science. Great local venue, cheerful staff and great value. Looking forward to returning.

Just been for the bonfire and fireworks display and have to say it was a dreadful experience. Gates opened at 6 we got there at 7 because my daughter is autistic and gets quite stressed in crowds so thinking we won't have long to wait. Unfortunately the money grabbers running the show started it at 8! I heard that the reason behind this is pure greed and just to milk people for all the money they have obviously. Walked round and we had an awful singer on for a bit, no stalls and nothing to keep my daughter entertained. Ok let's make the best of the situation I'll get my vegetarian daughter some food, ah let's see hot dog, burger or hog roast ...... Honestly I was fuming. Still the fireworks will be decent surely I mean I've paid £12 for the two of us to walk around in a wet field! The fireworks lasted 5 minutes. It was a seriously awful evening.

Would give 0 stars if possible. I Would absolutely NOT recommend. We hired out the venue for my sons 1st birthday party and what a shambles. We Was told on booking we could arrive at 9am originally to set up, that then changed to 10am on me contacting the venue to confirm the booking. Staff (who I presume weren’t actually staff, I think they were the owners parents) roll up at 10:30 after us waiting outside for 35 minutes, with balloons and decorations in the rain. From the moment we walked in we was being pestered by the owners parents who were on the phone to the owner, asking what time we was planning to leave. Bare in mind this was 2 hours before the party started. We Was left unattended in the venue for 2 hours, not a single member of staff came back until 12:45. This was after being told the owner himself would be in at 11am. The Bar was not re-stocked, we had all of our guests arriving at 12:30 and not a single person could get a drink as there was nobody on the bar. The floor was FILTHY with mud and leaves and rubbish from what looked a previous function, all over the floor. And this was after being told the original reason we couldn’t go at 9am was because we were told the cleaners would be in from 9-10am. We had No music as we had to connect to their speaker which we was told to ‘just wait 5 minutes’ for when staff turned up. The women’s Toilets were completely covered in mould on the roof and in one toilet cubicle a wall had smashed tiles all over the floor. The roof looked like it was about to fall through, It’s a Massive health and safety concern. The fact that this is a restaurant is the real concern. No toilet paper in any of the toilets. My sister rang to make a complaint and the ‘owner’ was disgustingly rude! He asked why we waited 3 days to make a complaint, firstly because there was nobody there at the end of the function to complain too, and secondly that is irrelevant. I Had to clean the floor myself as babies were arriving to the party. We Was told on the phone that we was basically lying about there being no staff there from 10:30-12:45. So Basically everything we complained about was a lie according to him. Was also told they don’t usually take bookings for first birthday parties, however this wasn’t an issue upon booking and now it is. Would certainly recommend to the owners to not take anymore bookings for any parties until you sort out your venue. We was also told if we wrote a bad review he would make sure we got done for slander. It’s an honest review with no false information and pictures for evidence, I guess it’s just hard for them to take responsibility. Never again!

Great rwmt rates, great facility for a gathering or private party

First visit to the Turpin to see Tina Turner tribute Act. The special meal deal was amazing - husband said his steak was perfect. Show was great , enjoyed the bingo and lovely atmosphere 😀👌

This place is an absolute dump! Their ‘function room’ leaves a lot to be desired. 1- only one toilet working in the ladies, no paper towels and hand driers let out minimal air. 2- no hand drying facilities at all in the disabled toilet- disgraceful! Neither of these rooms are finished, holes in the walls, tiles missing, spiders everywhere. Apparently the gents toilets were the same. 3- we were ordering double pink gins and the staff were only pouring singles. Conveniently charging for doubles though! We had to keep an eye on them, god knows how many people they ripped off with this! 4- poor choice behind the bar. They know an event is booked in and have hardly any stock. No rum, JD etc. Only a handful of J20s for guests not drinking alcohol, these run out pretty quickly. Overall, I’d never return and if we hadn’t been at an event and a captive audience, we’d have left after the first drink. Avoid like the plague! It’s the worst ‘venue’ (if you can even call it that) I’ve ever been to!

We didn't eat ourselves maybe next time. The food we saw looked gorgeous The singer was really good good mix ballads and dance. atmosphere was good. I wouldn't sit on the raised seating no handrail so risk of falling . A hand rail at the end of each table giving stability to step down would reduce risk.

Booked a table for 6 over a week ago. Google states opens at 17:00 we turn up for the 19:00 reservation time. Sorry no food chef is sick. No phone call to advise the previous 5 days. V v local to us newly opened so we want to keep local. Unfortunately not coming back, clearly they don't need the business. Hospitality?

Poor service from start to finish, I had to ask for a menu, ask to order after waiting nearly 20 mins. Once I did order was then told 5 min later there was no fish and chips. The food took 50 mins to arrive which for 3 burgers seems excessive and a long to wait when you are 9. Whilst the burger itself was good the meat was tasty and plenty of it the buns were toasted to the point of being black and the handful of chips were average after nearly being tipped on the floor by the waitress. My daughters beams never arrived even after we had finished nobody managed to make it over to ask if everything OK etc. It says something when a 9 year old says we're not staying for desert are we mummy! My husband and daughter were back in the car and I was waiting at the bar before anyone even realised we weren't at our table. The toilet has tiles missing and plug sockets hanging off the wall, there were crisp crumbs on the floor and miss matched tables of different heights caused a spilt drink. I appreciate its a new business and the staff are learning, everyone has to learn but honestly not even the basics were there and that's a real shame as it has the potential to be a great venue for local residents. We certainly won't be back in a hurry

Had Sunday dinner here at the weekend. Food was beautiful and very well priced. All products sourced locally as well. Great service from Brad and the young lady.

The food at the Turpin View was outstanding. I'd heard of good things, but this was the best food I'd had in a long time. Both starters and mains were of such a high quality that you'd expect to find only in the finest of restaurants. Use it or lose it!
