We met up here as friends back in February 2024. I had the fish and chips and, as you can see from the photo, the portion size was very good, and it all tasted great too. Chips cooked exactly as I like them. We also had puddings too, but didn’t manage to take a photo of those! Service was good and the prices are great value. Definitely recommended.

Absolutely stunning food, we had the Gammon and the ribs, both of which were huge portions! We had the apple and rhubarb crumble with custard and the crunchie cheesecake with ice cream for dessert, these were both beautiful! Would highly recommend a meal here and advise to book to guarantee a table! We will definitely be back!

Stayed here one night after a day at the Royal Welsh. Really friendly and welcoming landlord (Dave) showed us to our family room on arrival. Room was spotless and a generous size for 3 of us. We decided to have an evening meal, there was a good choice on the menu for all. Food was cooked by Heather Dave’s wife. The food was good home cooked pub grub. Had an enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend staying here. The following morning we wanted to leave early for a second day at The Royal Welsh. We were offered breakfast to take away. (This included bacon or sausage Roll, sachet of brown sauce, Bottle of water, carton of orange juice, an apple, packet of crisps a Twix and a flap jack). This was included in the price for bed and breakfast. It was delivered outside our door before leaving. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Seven of us had a reserved table and were met by the friendly waitress. We ordered starters that were quick to arrive, but the chicken goujons were overcooked and dry. Four of the party ordered the slow roasted shoulder of lamb from the menu, but on arrival, we were given the breast of lamb. The waitress apologised for the confusion, but we felt the problem was having two lamb meals on the menu, which confused the chef. It was disappointing. We ate the meal rather than waste the 4 meals which was fine. Three went on to have puddings, which was delicious and not on the final bill. We cannot fault the young lady that served us. She was very professional, polite, and friendly and knew the menu well even when asked about one of the sauces served.

The Trout Inn is an ideal base to explore the lovely countryside of south Powys and Carmarthenshire, where you are made to feel at home by the host and hardworking staff. The trout is highly recommended, as is the steak and gammon - they were just the tonic at the end of two busy days in the area. A shout-out for the delicious home-made puddings as well - equally impressive, and great value for money. Highly recommended, and we can't wait to return there.

We had been staying nearby and hadn’t found anywhere to eat that satisfied the whole family, everywhere else seemed to be microwaved food and bland. Whilst letting the family play I found this place online and thought why not, but of a drive but can’t be any worse than where we had been previously. To say the food was lovely is an understatement. I ordered chicken skewers and they were perfect, full of flavour and the chips were to die for. My boys are notoriously difficult when it comes to food and they woofed down their meals. My husbands lamb shank was also beautiful. The desserts were also amazing. This place is worth the travel for sure. Staff were attentive but not hovering. If we lived closer, this would become our regular. Thank you for the great service and food

Staying locally for a few days we made a booking at the Trout Inn having been advised by our hosts that it can get very busy at weekends. We were politely helped on the phone when making a booking and advised that the public bar was getting busy so to come in via the front door. The pub is clearly popular with locals and great to see the pub busy. The restaurant area is separated. The small team were up against it a little but worked diligently to get drinks and food to everyone speedily. Food is prepared to order, so they request you bear this in mind. Honestly, we noticed no particular wait and food was served to us quickly and generous portions. The pies were very tasty although the pasty base was left on one we ordered as slightly under done. However, just one of those things it didn't spoil our enjoyment at all. The lamb shank caused food envy. Really enjoyed our evening.

We called in for a drink as we were passing by. We walked in to a busy bar at which point everybody stopped and stared. The barmaid looked my very friendly and agreeable partner up and down before saying bluntly “We’re closed” and nothing more. If she’d have said “this is a local pub for local people” I really wouldn’t have been surprised! I understand closing time but there are ways of delivering the message … so we didn’t feel quite so unwelcome.

Just had food here, I’m not one for reviews but here goes we ordered the cod and chips, food came all looked good but then we start to eat, now I’ve never had Gristle in fish in my life but one the second mouth full of this delicious looking food (hungry as so a dog sh**t sandwich would look appealing) There was this mass that I could only describe as rubber in my mouth, so after spitting out and a bit of investigation it looked like the frozen cod was not cooked in the middle, and that’s not all the chips of all things weren’t cooked properly either, so went and complained was told there was nothing they could do with the fish so offered me something else or money back I asked for my money back so after waiting half hour with no sign of them we decided to let them keep the money as they obviously needed it for the menu’s that were wrote on paper and photo copied as we left they just watched us leave, don’t think we going there again 🤮

Called in lunchtime today after doing a scenic tour in the area. We received a very friendly greeting from the bar lady who served us drinks straight away. We ordered food from the large wall board and also noted a sign that said “All food freshly cooked to order”. Well, my wife and I were not disappointed. My wife had scampi and chips which was also served with a portion of mixed salad. I had already gammon, egg and chips. All were cooked beautifully. The chips were golden and crispy and probably the best we have had for some years. The gammon was lovely and tender too. The scampi was a generous portion and very tasty. My wife struggled to finish her meal. We rounded off our meal with a portion of vanilla ice cream which was delicious. Certainly on a par with the best Cornish ice creams! All in all a cracking meal that we could not fault for either quality of ingredients or the service we received.

Never been here before so thought we’d go in for a cuppa and decide then if we would have lunch too. Ordered a coffee and a pot of earl grey. Cup of coffee was done immediately and we were told she would bring over my tea. Took the coffee over to a table then waited and waited for my tea. 15 minutes passed before it arrived, my husband had finished his coffee. Started to drink my long awaited beverage but it tasted awful so we had to take it back. Despite being shown the box that the teabag had come from that did nothing to alter the fact it was undrinkable. Waited another few minutes for a fresh pot which was ok, after all this is a pot of tea not exactly rocket science. As a result we decided not to order food and left after drinking half a cup of tea. I don’t like writing negative comments so I’ve been quite generous with my rating of ‘average’ but being able to serve a hot pot of tea quickly is a pretty basic thing to get wrong.

So my Mother turns 60 and as a local resident there is only one place where she wants hold her birthday party!Dave and Heather hosted a wonderful evening for us all. . . . . And when I say 'all' I'm talking over 40 of us. The food that Heather prepared was out of this world. Beyond delicious and it was clear she had put her heart and soul in to the layout and presentation! Dave's charm and wit is a welcome addition to the pub's cosy, homely vibe.On this particular visit we booked to stay in the guest rooms upstairs. We had 4 rooms booked out and each one was as spotless and fresh as the next one. There was everything we needed for a stay well away from home. As someone who suffers with long term back issues I find it so hard to get a good nights sleep out of my own bed. The beds we had (room 6) were so comfy and I woke up feeling refreshed after a night of partying. The full English breakfast prepared for us all was the icing on the cake!My family visit often and when we do we arrive on mass! Traditional choice of food. The only minor criticism is that there are only chips with all the meals. I have had a steak, surf and turf and a curry (with rice) but I ordered chips as an extra because they are nice here. My wife had the home-made pie. From reading the reviews i wasnt sure what to expect. However i know now the degative reviews were very wrong!!! The food was lovely and all the staff were very welcoming, as for the signs i understand why there are so many as when i parked in the car park i saw around 10 cyclists urinating on the carpark fence! And people walkig in not asking and just using the loo and also people eating food from the shop in the pub garden. I thought this was digusing and rude. People need to have more resect and realise the pub is someones home! You would tollerate someone urinating in your garden. Beulah is so lucky to have such a beautiful pub to go to. Even if it is not respected!

I was drawn to this place by the name and the fact that I had not tasted trout for ages. Not only was the trout cooked to perfection but everything my wife and I had asked for was beautifully presented and tasted great.I had read reviews about The Trout which were nothing special, and though we had no lodgings there I have to say that the place is tastefully decorated, well laid out and the service could hardly have been better.

Decent food and a proper friendly landlord - everybody seemed to know him by name so the place obviously has a lot of regulars. Quite a busy boozer, so not the most relaxing location for a restaurant on a Saturday night but a good atmosphere. Service on the slow side - possibly due to an error by the waitress who took the order - but all sorted out well in the end. Would go back next time I'm in the area. Does B&B too, but didn't try that.

Went in for lunch as the outside looked lovely. Far too many notices-particularly the one about the carpark not being a toilet ! (perhaps we should have turned around at that point). The one bar didnt allow under 16s and the other didnt allow dogs. We had 2 dogs and a 9yr.old but eventually we were allowed in the bar. We had to rush our orders as a funeral was expected. Meals were very average-frozen chips, frozen everything., service was a bit unprofessional-asked from behind the bar if all OK. We felt as though we were a bit of a nuisance. Finally we left and still no sign of a funeral. Will we return? Probably not

my husband and i visited here on a saturday night. the food was just ok, we didn't enjoy our visit that much as we felt that as we did not book they where doing us a favour by finding us a table and when i asked for some bread and butter i was told may be a while as the chef was very busy....for bread and butter. the was nice but i would go there again. you must count the signs from the car park to the pub. The owners like their signs.

We stayed here as part of our Freerein horse riding holiday. The rooms were simple but comfortable. The food was delicious & the owners really went the extra mile to provide several gluten free options at dinner, breakfast & even our packed lunch. The portions are generous & food well prepared, our Garlic King Prawns, salad & jacket potato were very tasty. There were several gluten free desserts too, I had a wonderful gf apple crumble but they all looked good. Breakfast is extensive and again well prepared with gluten free bread available (we requested in advance) Thoroughly recommended.

We had dinner there and enjoyed the steak and kidney pudding and some excellent cask conditioned ale. The Trout Inn is a beautiful place, and the folks there are friendly. We recommend it.

Amazing home made burgers and nothing was too much trouble. Hubby had the Beulah Pie and he said it was gorgeous. We loved this place not just because of the excellent food but for the lovely atmosphere, the warm, friendly welcome we had from the owners and the staff. Well worth a visit.

Had an evening meal here as staying nearby to Beulah. Wasn't sure what to expect but had checked out the menu on-line beforehand and looked as if they were serving good traditional pub grub. We were there bang on 7pm opening time and greeted by a very genial landlord. Plenty of seating both inside and outdoors. Parking area out back and next door to a filling station. As we were looking for something simple I had lasagne with garlic bread and my partner had the scampi and chips. Both meals came with a side-salad which provided a variety of salad ingredients including coleslaw and sweetcorn. For desert we had the knickerbocker glory and American pancakes, would like to have tried them all as they were great value at £4. The food was plentiful and good quality and great value for money. Although its unlikely we'll be in the area again for some time to come we would definitely go out of our way to pay another visit knowing the quality of the food available.

If you are in the area you must go here. we travelled for half an hour and was worth every minute. We don't ask for much just a good clean traditional pub with a good atmosphere and food and of course drink. You wont be disappointed this is a charming inn. the main bar area is very comfortable. we sat on soft bucket seats next to a small library of interesting books and magazines. We also had a slide show of wonderful photographs form around the area taken by the owner. The menu was small but that didn't bother us. The Trout inn is primarily run by a husband and wife team so it is only practical they limit their menu. They also do a Sunday roast which I am sure will be as hearty and tasty as our meal. The food was cooked perfectly by the owners wife and was well presented and very hearty. The owner was attentive and spent a considerable time talking to us. It wasn't very busy so he had the time but we felt he would always do his best to do this. The inn offers bed and breakfast facilities and ample parking. We just love these family establishments and they must be supported so they can continue serving guests and locals. Please take a trip there. a warm welcome awaits you, we will make it a regular haunt for sure.

Definitely not the fine dining experience promised! Very disappointed, mediocre food with overcooked vegetables. Knew we were going to be disappointed when offered cheese savouries (think 1970’s party food) as an appetiser! Salt and pepper squid - lacking either salt or pepper but with the addition of soggy parsnip crisps and grapes. The waiting staff were pleasant!

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop
