The food is ok, as they were saying they’re best, not sure how other Korea restaurants are like! But the service was definitely the worst I’ve experienced! We haven’t finished our meal, the bill was brought to table and ask us to pay at desk ! Then kept reminding us few time to pay! There were still have 3tables guests eating, it’s not the end of the day and we’re not the last table, it’s just ridiculously rude and unpleasant!

Hostile customer service on Saturday afternoon 13 May at Tree Stone Greenwich. There was a language barrier with the man behind the counter who spoke only Korean. My husband asked for one 500g cut of Wagyu Ribeye at £140 per kg. He understood enough to tell husband to come back in 10 minutes. When he came back, he was presented with lots of small pieces of steak and told to buy 500g worth. He said this is not what he asked for. He got a rude reply and no apology. Basically told to buy what they had or leave. He bought two pieces as it was getting late and was making dinner for the family. He felt he was not given the time of day because he didn’t speak Korean. He spent £70 but had an awful experience. There was a young man working in the shop who offered no assistance to help with the language barrier. I was shocked when he told me as I often went to the shop and had a great experience with the female staff. I wrote an email to the owner at Tree Stone New Malden afterwards about the incident but I received no response.

Lovely meal, interesting Korean BBQ, lots of meat, marinades, pickles, kimchi, sauces etc. our server, Samria was wonderful, explaining what to choose. Good value too. Only issue being we booked a table for 5, but had to wait for half an hour.

Bad service! Sat us down made us wait to order and then 15 minutes later they told us the kitchen is closed! Wasted my time!

Went for a birthday dinner, trying a Korean restaurant for the first time despite living quite near for many years. Really pleasantly surprised by the range of food. We tried a fair few dishes and enjoyed each of them. We were considering popping into the adjoining butchers but then thought for a first visit we’d keep to the chef’s dishes. And the service was great, with helpful advice, keeping an eye on our bbq grill, and very smiley. Before visiting, I’d read a few comments about service (not just this restaurant) but the lady who served us was very forthcoming and attentive. Would definitely visit again and we’ve also been inspired to try cooking our own Korean dishes too! Couldn’t fault it - we all had a really nice time.

I used to go here often. But recently the staff and management was different, perhaps new. They pretty much only serve if you are white or korean. Otherwise you will experience truest form of modern racism. I never knew this existed in modern age like today.

My husband and I diner at the Tree Stone earlier in the year on a rare and much needed date night. We hadn't booked a table anywhere so instead wandered down New Malden High Street and saw what took our fancy. We opted for Tree Stone as we had never tried Korean food and it appeared busy which we thought was a good sign. We went in and were offered a table and given a menu but unfortunately no one took time to further explain the menu or give recommendations. We fumbled our way through the menu and picked a few dishes which sounded nice. We noticed other customers around us popping next door to choose meat from the butchers to bring back to their table to cook on the BBQ, which looked really tasty and like good fun; it was a shame that none of the staff spent any time to explain this to us. Having said that, the food we ordered was all really tasty and we enjoyed our evening.

We went this restaurant for lunch. It was empty and we picked a table near to the door as we have prams and we didnt want to block anyone, in case they have customers later. As we sat down waiting for high chairs and menu, she was making calls. After a while, she brought a table that we didn't need and we asked for high chairs and menu. We were the only customers and she just couldnt accommodate us. Later chef(?) Came out of the kitchen and suggested to put us to another table??? Then she said " I know but they wanted to sit there. F***king annoying" in KOREAN. I just couldnt believe what I was hearing! It's because we were speaking in English, she assumed that we didnt understand korean which made it worse as this is how she treats customers who doesnt know Korean?! For whatever the reason and when we weren't being rude but just asking for high chairs and menu. Such disrespectful! Glad we didnt stay there and we had a lovely lunch at YAMI, the next door to this rude place!

I have recently visited this restaurant with a Korean friend. They have only few tables and the atmosphere is nice and warm. We selected the meet at the butcher next door and then cooked at our table. We got pork belly, beef, mushrooms and sesame leaves. The quality of the food is great, we were so happy. Everything was tender and delicious. It was the first time I tried sesame leaves, the taste is really good. Everything was wonderful except for the service. There was only one waitress for all the tables. I will visit this restaurant again in the future.

We visited the Tree Stone last weekend for the first time. What a fantastic experience. I went with a Korean friend and he said it is very authentic and almost like in Seoul. The meat cannot be fresher. You know exactly what meat you get and the service is swift and friendly. Finishing the meal you even get a very reasonable if not surprisingly low bill. We highly recommend the Tree Stone.

We had enjoyed Beef Bugogi at Han's Korean restaurant in New Malden so decided to try it for lunch at the Treestone Kitchen. The Treestone Bugogi was a huge disappointment, mainly because there was no sauce on the dish at all. So we ended up with plain boiled beef strips with rice and salad. The beef is supposed to be marinaded in a rich sweet soya sauce but there was no trace of any sauce. The dish was devoid of flavour, taste and any enjoyment. Later I noticed I'd been charged £2.50 for a small can of coke and they'd automatically added 10% for service. They failed to mention this when I added a couple of pounds as a tip because the waitress service was good. So I paid double service for a tasteless meal that any professional chef would never have allowed to leave the kitchen. Will I be going back? Have a wild guess.

Place charges £7 a head, and you go next door to select your meats. Meats are all of very good quality, several marinated options, and very very good value. Cooked options we sampled were also generous and delicious. Easy recommendation.

Being a regular goer to New Malden, I was curious about this restaurant but always had another place to go. But yesterday was the day. First impression was not great. As it was a Friday evening, the place was packed. We had a booking but the staffs couldn't find a table and they probably have been happy if we told them we'll go elsewhere. And before giving us table, they were only asking if we intended to do a table BBQ or not. Being a 1st timer, all seems be strange. Soon it made clear. This is an extended arm of next door butcher store. Customers for the tabletop bbq, need to purchase their favourite cut from the butcher next door and then bring them to the restaurant to cook it on the table top. Butcher had a good selection of cut in Korean style. Korean butchery is known for more detailed cuts and have varieties of speciality cuts for tabletop bbq like 3 sec pork slice. We went for 300g Wagyu sirloin, 3 roll of marinated short rib aka Kalbi, and a pack of thin sliced short rib, came up to £42. There is £7 pp table setting charges which covers a tabletop bbq grill, 3 types of Korean bbq sauces, 3 side dishes, lettuce and garlic slices for wrapping. There is a restaurant menu to order popular Korean dishes like Jeon (pancake). But for us, it was bbq only time. We started with one chunky Wagyu sirloin. It was soft and buttery taste just melt in the mouth experience, superb! Thin sliced short rib had more texture but still tasty. And lastly the marinated kalbi was amazing. We couldn't get through all the meat so I came home with 2 roll of beautifully marinated kalbi beef. Was the whole experience worth it? Definitely. The questionable welcoming service got better when I understood how they operated. It's DIY and I kinda enjoyed they left us alone. It's like eating at home (but no need to do clean up afterward). Most importantly, I enjoyed quality and variety of meat cuts. It's subjective matter but i felt £75 was good price for a meat feast for two which incl. 300g Wagyu and 2 bottle of Cass beer. I will be happy to come back to this place very near future.

Went here with my grown up son Monday evening. Hadn’t been to a proper Korean BBQ before so really enjoyed it. They have a very full Korean menu and a long sushi menu but we went for the Korean BBQ. You pay £7 per person and you get lots of side dishes and sauces. You then go through to their butcher section and pick out whatever meats you want (you pay for them separately). Tip: the marinated meats are in a fridge near the back and are all amazing. The waitresses help get your bbq hot plate going and you just cook the meats bit by bit m, the sauces they provide are lovely and we ordered some rice to go with it. You can use the lettuce leaves to make wraps too. Will definitely be coming back.

I celebrated my birthday in this restaurant. We were the first customers that evening. We love Korean food and we have been in several restaurants in the area so we thought, we wanted to try The Tree Stone this time. The ambience was lovely from the outside so it ticked our curiosity. It’s modern and roomy enough. What is unique about The Tree Stone? Nothing in particular, really. So, you essentially buy your meat next door which is connected to the restaurant. Anything to your heart’s content then cook the meat yourselves. We didn’t see any seafood selection so it was a bit of a disappointment. They have set menu too but when craving for Seoulful food why do a set menu when you can do the traditional on the table grill cook out for authenticity, right? My overall rating is 3.5 to 4 stars. Ambience - good. Friendliness of staff - great. Cleanliness - great. Value for money - not very. They are quite pricey. Beverages & tea 🤔 plus you pay ‘individually’ to use the table BBQ grill. There were 3 adults and 2 children - so it was a bit much. The food we ordered from the menu were amazing though. I can’t remember my soup’s name, it was beef and OMG - 😉 amazing!

It is under new ownership and is a Korean Restaurant now, under the same name. We decide to try this place which is next door of our usual restaurant, Yami. The service is terrible! (slow and some drinks we ordered did not arrived) The food is not as good as our usual Korean restaurants. I had the pork ramen with 3 tasteless piece of pork and the seafood pancake is oily. We will not be coming back here.
