The Travellers Well in Neath Port Talbot

Took my granddaughter and her partner for Sunday lunch, our first visit and I was really impressed. The young Staff were lovely can't praise them enough. The food was great and I can't wait to return when family are " available" they have such busy lives.

Didn’t book but got In easily. Nice atmosphere very clean and waitresses welcoming. Good menu plenty of choice, one complaint is that the chips were very pale and could have been browned more, you eat with your eyes so the chef needs to make sure this is resolved. The ice cream cheese cake were delightful probably the best part of the meal. Next time I go I will ask for the chips to be served differently. Will be returning very soon

Lovely seting and as usual food really good quality. one of my favourite places for a reasonably priced good meal.

Part of a group booking for 20 people celebrating friends 70th birthday. Pre-ordered food disappointing, barely warm. One of the waiting staff very abrupt, unfriendly...apparantly the manager !!!!

Had a lovely meal here to celebrate my parents upcoming 50th wedding anniversary. All 5 meals were lovely and my salmon was large and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and attentive and prices very good value. My first visit here but we will certainly return.

Booked a week previously as my friend and I come here quite often for a catch up. Arrived at 6 to be told they needed the table back at 8. I said i should have been informed when booking to be told that the table might have been booked after i had done so. If that was the case why didnt someone ring me to let me know so we could make alternative arrangements? Went to La C down the road and had a fab 3 hour night instead.

Visited the Traveller Well yesterday for the first time. The meal was outstanding, best meal out we have had. The staff were very attentive and service top notch. Will definitely visit again.

First time eating here. And will definitely be going back. The place is beautiful. The menu had so much choice. Food was served quickly and was so delicious. The Diane sauce was superb and the serloin steak was cooked to perfection. Only down fall was the staff were very inexperienced. They were hanging about the bar giggling and chatting and we as well as the 2 tables behind were quite frustrated as we had to fight for their attention. We asked if we could get served, the young girl said yes and then had very obviously forgot. It wasnt until the other young girl caught us staring a good 10 minutes later that they had realised their mistake. It was definitely not that they were busy. Don't get me wrong, they were lovely girls, very well mannered, just not professional enough for such a wonderful place.

Went here for some lunch. Nice friendly waitress, drinks orders and food orders taken quickly. Standard pub menu I ordered the cod and chips. Chips are nice and home cut chips. Cod was not massive but nice and crisp. Nice little side salad. Decent portion and I pretty much ate if all and I am normally quite picky. Place was a little bit dark and patio doors were open which made it a little cool but some people were going back and forth. Would perhaps be nice if they had a light or a lamp further back maybe?

I don't often write reviews but felt I had to as my experience was so good. We stumbled across this place and I was a bit skeptical as didnt know anything about it I was totally blown away with the service and the quality of the dishes. I had the cajun chicken with salad and boiled potatoes....its the best I have had. The cajun chicken sauce was homemade and delicious. Everything cooked to perfection and you could tell the chef takes pride in his cooking. The side salad was great too. They also had decaf coffee which was served in a cafetiere. I live in Swansea but would travel there for a meal anytime!

I can’t emphasise how delicious the Sunday roast was. It was absolutely perfect and the staff were lovely. We had bountiful amounts of gravy and veg too. Everything was just spot on. I’ve told the rest of my family we all have to go again. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite but the swede was the best I’ve had, I finished other peoples too

Always beautiful food and outstanding service. On this occasion we were celebrating a family member’s retirement and they were so helpful and even gave the little ones books and colouring while we waited for our food. The food is superb quality and plentiful. Looking forward to our next visit

Had a two course Sunday lunch. Starters and mains. Pate for starters can’t go wrong really 3 small bits of toast pate and chutney. Beef for main very nice. Overall a nice dinner, will go back again if a tad expensive.

Visited for christmas day 2019 with family and friends. The food was ok, not reflective of the £65 per head charge by far. Attention to detail was lacking and the food had a canteen feel to it as opposed to a restaurant we were expecting. Starters were ok, my partner was served burnt bread with her soup and told "more bread will be coming" this didn't happen. Again my partners main, a vegetarian bake was served burnt and overcooked. Vegetables and trimmings were ok but could have been better presented. Desserts were fair but sadly my partners sherry trifle (served in a teacup) was a sloppy mess and didn't seem to have any sherry in it. Overall the meal was ok but we wouldn't go back again for christmas day food.

Had a three Christmas lunch at the Travellers yesterday and all the courses with a bottle of wine were spot on, excellent resturant with excellent staff, thank you Tony and all your staff, we will return.

Always a good meal here. Great size portions at a reasonable price. Staff always friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.

Works Xmas lunch, we paid a £5 deposit per person in advance for a party of 15 people, one person couldn’t make it at the last minute the Travellers Well decided in the wisdom to keep one £5 deposit, no gesture of goodwill considering the size of the party, not the most customer friendly establishment.Our first and last Xmas do at this venue!

Our second visit in as many weeks and great food on both occasions. Proper heartwarming, home cooked food. Large portions. Lovely on a cold wet evening! Great service and friendly staff.

Were fitted in at a window table, and orders were taken quickly. Soon the food arrived, hot and plentiful. (For those with a smaller appetite child's meals are available too). Meat, potatoes and yorkshires came first, with little delay,followed by stainless/steel serving dishes, with a plentiful array of vegetables. No complaints here. Desserts were good too...only complaint here....the cheesecake was unavailable, but so what!! We were all "stuffed". Very good meal, and the service was great too. Brian

My wife and I were heading home on a tuesday afternoon and decided to stop off at the travellers well for a spot of lunch.

What a fantastic Sunday lunch could not fault anything and very friendly staff we had a starter and main course and did not require any desert.

Booked last minute and had a nice table by the window. Started to fill up whilst we were there so good timing. Ordered our lunch. Option was beef Turkey or pork. I had pork. Really great service and fast. Food was really good. Pork crackling was amazing. Food left over. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Well done.

Called here on the spur of the moment for the second time. Had the fabulous steak deal. Once again it was fabulous. The offer is on from Monday to Thursday and I would recommend it.

Visited this establishment for the first time last Saturday. The food was excellent and there was plenty of choice on the menu. The staff were very friendly and attentive and went out of their way to help my husband who s in a wheelchair. Looking forward to many more visits!

We popped in hearing good things since the pub has changed owners. We went for the 2 for £12 menu. Burger and chips and sausage and mash. It was fantastic value for money and high quality food. They serve the cheaper deals menu until 7pm. We will definitely return. Sunday lunch is meant to be lovely so we’ll probably have that when we go next. One complaint, the coke from the pump tasted of cheap cola, it was really awful, unless they do cans of coke I would not have coke again.

It was our first time eating here since it re-opened. The food was delicious- I totally recommend the garlic mushrooms to start the staff were friendly and the service was quick. The atmosphere was chilled and with the real log fire crackling away it made it cosy to chill in the bar area before and after our meal. Mothers day lunch was superb.food was stunning , had 4 meals here since the new owners took over 2 weeks ago and each one has been great . Really nice atmosphere huge log fire and fab decor , hugely recommended. Keep it up guys youre doing brilliant .10 stars from us .

Booked the meal for 15:00 was informed that there was a bit of a wait. After half an hour asked again to be informed it would not be long. Finally got to the table after about an hour and twenty minutes. They haven’t long re-opened under new ownership. I feel they may have overbooked on this occasion. When at the table the wait for food wasn’t that bad and the food itself was ok. There was no offer of a free round of drinks or money off as a token gesture which I thought was a little poor. I will go again to give them another chance but they will be third or fourth choice.

Great food, proper chips and beautiful food all round from steak to burgers. Will be back here very soon.

I went to The Travs yesterday for Sunday Lunch and must say it was superb.The whole experience was great form the service provide by the staff,fine selection of ales and wines and the Sunday Lunch was great.Im so glad now ive booked for Xmas Day

Visited here last week with friends and we all really enjoyed our meals .... i had the scampi and it was cooked and presented well and the chocolate fudge cake was to die for....Good friendly service will definitely meet up here again .

We had a meal here a few weeks ago a group of 8 and our baby granddaughter. My son is gluten and dairy free and he finds it difficult to eat anywhere. The chef went to great lengths to accommodate him by making gluten free pasta and adapting things to suit is dietary requirements. All the food was excellent with brilliant service and we can't recommend highly enough. Also offer take away which is fab, it is a real delight to have such a good quality restaurant close to home and this will become a regular treat. We've had several meal in the travellers and have never been disappointed. The food is always so spot on and quite big potions. They cater really well for everyone especially the kids. The staff there are friendly and are always will to help if you've got any questions.

Having always enjoyed both the atmosphere and food / drink at the Travellers Well, we enquired about booking for our son’s Christening reception for 40 people. Booking could not have been easier and both the management and chef personally ran through all of the buffet menu options and prices. On the day we simply dropped the cake / decorations off and the staff laid this out for us which was great as we were pressed for time. During the reception, as always the atmosphere was lovely - the buffet food was simply outstanding with all of the buffet made freshly and on site by the chef. All of the guests commented that it was the best buffet they had ever tasted and both my wife and I must agree. The bar also has a great selection of drinks. Overall I’d highly recommend the Travellers Well for a drink, meal or party and we look forward to our next visit, thank-you. 5*

Fantastic place for food! Each time I've been the service has been excellent and the food is real good. The lasagne is one of hte best I've had in a restaurant. Home cooked chips are delicious, as are all themains we have tried so far. I have had a takeaway a few times too when working late but want proper food to go home with. Looking forward to trying hte breakfast one day too.

Second visit over the last few months. Excellent food. Excellent service. Can't really fault it. Went for a pasta which was perfectly cooked. All round good experience. Will be returning very soon

No bar service available, needed to order from dining table, not a good start. Wine choices very poor by the glass, sauvignon blanc only. Bottle of house red exceptionally poor. Sunday roast just OK , much better available elsewhere, sharp word for the friend who recommended.

Had a fab evening for my sisters birthday. Pub is cosy and the menu had improved and has lots to choose from. The waitresses and Maria made our visit special. The mixed grill was excellent and had succulent cuts of meats and when I changed my mind last minute with my choice of potatoes they changed them with no fuss. We all had hot tasty food and Maria made sure we were well looked after. Shall visit again soon . Thank you

We went as a family last year and found the service slow to say the least. We had to wait over an hour for our food, and even then not all meals were hot.

We came here for a meal this evening for my birthday ,there were 11 of us in our party group ,we were greeted shown to our table (young girl with dark hair she was very pleasant and friendly , the young man who took our order was very good and patient and also very pleasant , we didn't wait very long for our food to arrive and I must say the food was very tasty and hot .

Visited on the way to the local Crematorium. The front of house was just Maria, but she was amazing and it wasn't long before we were served with a nice beer and our food ordered. A large choice on the menu with about 8 specials as well. We needed to have our meal turnaround in an hour which it was. Limited parking, but no problem parking on the road outside. Very nice toilets and good ales. What makes it special is Maria's service.

The menu choice was limited. I had steak which was cooked to perfection. Other members of the family were not so lucky with their choice. If you like plenty salt then this place is a winner.... not for me though. Service was just about average.

Terrible food , but pleasant waitress. Very disappointed, will not return . Do not have the duck in the bizarre rosemary sauce.

Average and over priced. Garlic bread was soggy and served with salad and balsamic vinegar, put my hubby off straight away! The food came out pretty quick but I think because it was quite quiet there. Service was good and they did ask if we liked our food. I wasn't in the mood to complain. The plates were red hot! Even stuck to the table they were so hot. My daughter burnt her tongue on her cannoli, the edges of the plates were all burnt so you could see they were Kept under hot plate. Quality certainly wasn't there for the price paid. Prefer the Fendrod any day.

“Packing” food which was rather piled unto the plate. Food quantity rather than quality - definitely not high dining and not particularly cheap! Certainly will fill a gap if your hungry but otherwise I won’t be hurrying back.

We went to the restaurant for a birthday family meal. We were a largish part of about 15. Order was taken quickly but that was the end of the good service. Food came out in dribs and drabs. We had to ask numerous times for the baby meal which eventually came on a boiling plate, so much waitress warned us it was hot, clearly had been put under a hot lamp or in a micro to heat up (who serves a toddler on a boiling plate!!) . We had to chase garlic breads we had ordered which arrived after we eventually finished food, one was fine one was inedible as was rock solid. Waitresses were less than helpful, not even an apology for the late food, no offer of free drinks or anything.

We really wanted this place to be good, and indeed some of the food offerings here were very good (duck, pasta dishes, chips) but some of the food was average at best (tough steak and overly thick cream sauce with chicken). Likewise, whilst the service was friendly the food was slow to materialse with some people having almost finishing their meals before others had been served and side dishes arrived late. Deserts were really good and coffee was nice, but with some extra training and focus this place could be much much better

A nice place - lovely, tasteful Christmas decor. The food varied - but overall was acceptable pub food. Not much for vegetarians to choose. The menu seemed too big and I think they would be better off cutting down the range and focusing on quality instead. The dishes were very garlic heavy. Very friendly staff. Small car park at the back.

Came here spur of the moment for my birthday found it because another place was closed.. and boy im really glad the other place was closed.. claire is lovely friendly and helpful.. the food was delicious, starters of creamy garlic mushrooms was delicious, my hubby had the meatballs and he wanted to clean the bowl..lol..the offer on the steak meals fantastic and steak medium rare cooked to perfection..huge thick cut proper chips too, with a beautiful garlic sauce.. amazing.. the panna cotta dessert was absolutely gorgeous my hubby had the ice cream trio with toffee sauce and he loved it.. can't wait to come back to try the other meals.. the place is gorgeous and cosy & welcoming..

Tried this pub whilst on a mountain bike weekend with a few friends.

As a Skewen resident I really want this place to do well and have a good reputation.

My wife and I moved to the area a year ago and have been looking for a local. The reviews of this place are good to great so expectations were high.

Well everything l can say about this place is brilliant . We went as a family on Sunday lunch. I had beef with all the trimmings and lots of vegetables and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen. Booking is necessary but it is well worth it. The beef melted in my mouth. Yes I have been since and will go again.

Having read the reviews we visited on a monday evening, wow your slow cooked braised lamb was to die for. Meal was so fab we came back tuesday evening . My friend had the same meal again as it was so good, I chose to have the large pork chop, wow it was enormous and very tasty, your chefs gravies on both nights were to die for, if bottled I would buy. Thank you for making us feel welcome, the staff were a great laugh and service was good. My son's pudding was lush.
