The Travellers Well in Neath Port Talbot

Delicious Sunday lunch today at the Travs , the meal was superb . The beef and gravy were amazing could have done with a bit more veg maybe. The service was first class , quick and efficient. Will definitely be returning.

Went here tonight after finding on trip advisor. Have to say a big thank you to the staff, they are so warm and welcoming and great at creating an atmosphere. The food came quickly, was a great sized portion and tasty. The wine selection suited me and I can't believe I paid £23 left stuffed and with 2 glasses of wine inside me. I am so glad I found this place and will make a bee line next time I'm working in the area.

A fantastic welcome from all the staff at this pub/restaurant. Very clean, great menu, delicious deserts. I recommend you book though as its one of the best eateries around neath and Swansea. Mid range prices which is impressive considering the quality of the meals they proudly dish out. A great welcome awaits.

Arrived once pub opened at 5:30pm. Waitress had her back to us on the sofa on her phone, we had to speak loudly about the fish to make her known we were there. We requested a high chair when we called for our table but wasn’t provided when we arrived which wasn’t a problem the waitress went and got it when seated. We ordered drinks and food, portion of chips were so uneven, we decided to split the chips evenly between us as one of us had about 8 chips on our plate where the others had over double that. Food was lovely, we ordered a second lot of drinks which was brought to us incorrectly but quickly amended. We were asked if we wanted dessert which we said yes, we ordered a child’s ice cream, chocolate cake and ice cream cheesecake. The child’s ice cream came and then the waitress told us that they have no cheesecake it will be a blondie, which we agreed was fine. The chocolate cake came and about 15 minutes later once everyone was finished the waitress came back out and said the blondie hadn’t be defrosted over night so we were unable to have that dessert. We said it was fine and as everyone was already finished we won’t have anything else, she then said she will take the cheesecake off the receipt which we said fine. My mum went up to pay and they didn’t offer an itemised bill which she thought was strange but paid the £77 and gave a £5 tip. I said I’m going to check the bill to make sure the cheesecake was taken off, when I asked for the itemised bill the cheesecake was still on there and I advised the cheesecake was still on there and we had be charged for it. There was no apology or explanation, she just said have you got the card you paid with? Which I said yes, she refunded the payment still no apology, she could see we weren’t impressed and only after the refund went through and I had to ask for a receipt of the refund she said ‘sorry about that’. Really don’t think it’s good enough, even if it was a mistake and missed by accident an apology should be the first thing you do. You could of taken off the child’s ice cream or offered a free dessert for making us wait so long to be told the cheesecake hadn’t be defrosted. An itemised bill should always be printed and showed to the customer prior to taking payment as due to this situation we will not be returning again which is a shame as the food was nice.

Had a very nice Sunday lunch , excellent value . 2 starters, lamb for 2 , beef for 1 desserts for 2 and drinks . Very quick service

Awesome meal and excellent service. Most meals priced within a £ of each other which makes choosing what you want rather than what you can afford much easier. We'll done.

Absolutely disgusting the garlic bread was cold and rock solid, in bin now. The carbonara is in bin too full of grease and smelt disgusting, I had one mouthful tasted reheated as the pasta was soggy. The only thing I was grateful for was the dessert which I managed to eat. What a waste of £10. Please think twice about ordering food from here. Absolutely awful. I am so upset my only £10 for a treat this month as food is so expensive. Lesson learnt next time I will cook myself.

Went there for a 50th birthday staff are shocking service is shocking told to go sit down wen your at the bar trying to by drinks by the time you get your food the rest of the party was leaving never going back don't recommend anyone booking for a party thay just can't cope

Place was nice with great decor to make it feel like a classic pub. Toilets were a bit manky but most places are. Food was incredible however the chicken was completely uncooked and cold for a chicken wing starter. The peppered pork dish was very tough. The burgers were gorgeous however. Great drinks also. Staff were quite good. However I didn’t think they really cared about serving raw food!

First time ordering takeaway from here. Food was really good and still hot on arrival, was all tasty and past my expectations.

Haven't been here for many years, disappointed that the bar has now gone and it really only caters for food. Garlic bread was average.

Absolutely fantastic service, too many people saying guys tho , I hate that but its obviously a thing. I had the sea bass special, absolutely outstanding! I was so impressed, sauce was amazing and fish just fell away from skin, saute potatoes were lovely. My partner and son had the mega burger special, both said it was lovely but hard to eat, chips weren't great for my son, but he enjoyed the rest. Garlic bread wasn't very good but we liked the onion rings. Icecream cheesecake was lovely with cream. Service was amazing, asking us if food was ok, any sauce or drinks ,couldn't ask for more. Second time here, only thing for me , I didn't have enough saute potatoes which were lovely. I have to say we will definitely book again,,I really enjoyed. Wasn't too busy which we preferred as well. Bit of a pain parking but the food is definitely worth it. Thank you so much . 🙂

Just picked up 3 takeaway dinners and we have had them from here regularly but today was disgusting! 3 strips of meat in each not even full slices and 1 tub of veg to share between 3 of us. If you don’t have enough to put out a full dinner then don’t take the orders! Will not be ordering from here ever again!

Away with work and found here on the internet so took a punt which turned out to be a great decision. Lovely food and friendly staff, i’ll be sure to come back if I find myself in the area!

What a fantastic experience at the travellers well Skewen. The service was exceptional,they couldn't do enough. The menu has a wide range of starters, mains and deserts. We had fiery chicken starters followed by steak which was perfectly prepared. We visited here quite often in the past and its nice to see the high standards kept at this restaurant are still in place, if you haven't visited this very clean ,well run establishment yet book a table and treat yourselves. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Had gammon it was delicious and huge....fab food and really cheap

Food was very good well presented and very hot. The staff were very helpful and attentive couldn't do enough for you and asked often if we needed anything else sauce drinks without being a nuisance. Would def recommend and will return.

Loved it here. Staff couldn't do enough for us, that kept coming back making sure everyone was happy - even went as far as asking the kids for thumbs up if they liked theirs. Nice friendly atmosphere and they even bought fries in for the kids as they don't normally do them. Price was very reasonable and we've booked to go there for mother's day we enjoyed so much.

I have been there 3 times in the last couple of months and each meal has been outstanding, the staff are extremely accomodating and happy, I only wish it was open Mon- Fri for lunch because if everyone new how gorgeous the food is they would have to open all week !!! This is my new local and can't wait to try everything on the menu, cannot praise it enough ( and I am normally quite critical) well done awesome 👏 xxxxx

I went here to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday and my birthday we got there at 6.40 meal booked for seven and when we arrived tge banbers had not been put up liked they said they would do so spoilt the surprise for my husband has I had to put them up after doing a pre order the meals came out slowly all steaks that were ordered were all cooked wrong we were the last to receive our meals my mothers chicken came about 15 to 20 mins after everybody else

Wonderful. Obviously a popular place for Sunday lunch as it was still in full service at 2.30 when we arrived . We had our lunch at 3 . We didn't have starters . Tasty ,tasty Sunday lunch and well worth it. Very, reasonable prices too. Well done. Front of house staff were all very attentive and checked we were ok on numerous,timely occasions. You all worked so hard and your timings and team work were impeccable. House Wine at £3.40 a glass ! I'll be back 😄

Went here for Sunday lunch to celebrate my birthday. The Sunday dinner was amazing but the service was really poor. We requested the menus for dessert but after 30 mins of waiting, gave up which spoilt things for me. The customer service we received upon settling up and leaving was really poor and they didn't seem that bothered that they'd lost our dessert order.

Lovely little restaurant at the top of Skewen. The food here is great and at a reasonable price. Book a table just incase as it can get busy.

Took my granddaughter and her partner for Sunday lunch, our first visit and I was really impressed. The young Staff were lovely can't praise them enough. The food was great and I can't wait to return when family are " available" they have such busy lives.

The best Cumberland sausage, mash and peas I've ever had!

Fair was in town, so rather quiet. Had plaice and chips, best chips I've had for a long time. The young staff were great, kept the drinks flowing. A very pleasant evening.

Have been here several times and can't find fault with the food or service however parking isn't easy.

Whenever I visit the parents, they always take me and the family here. I can see why the service is outstanding and the food amazing. We are always welcomed with a friendly smile.

Delicious food friendly staff. Parking is a bit of a pain. A van had blocked the entrance to the carpark.

Didn’t book but got In easily. Nice atmosphere very clean and waitresses welcoming. Good menu plenty of choice, one complaint is that the chips were very pale and could have been browned more, you eat with your eyes so the chef needs to make sure this is resolved. The ice cream cheese cake were delightful probably the best part of the meal. Next time I go I will ask for the chips to be served differently. Will be returning very soon

Part of a group booking for 20 people celebrating friends 70th birthday. Pre-ordered food disappointing, barely warm. One of the waiting staff very abrupt, unfriendly...apparantly the manager !!!!

Had a lovely meal here to celebrate my parents upcoming 50th wedding anniversary. All 5 meals were lovely and my salmon was large and cooked to perfection. Service was friendly and attentive and prices very good value. My first visit here but we will certainly return.

A group of 5 adults and 2 children had a meal here last night. Food and service was fantastic. Not one of us had a problem. Even asked the question has anyone any food allergies. Don't get asked that very often.

We had a Sunday dinner there today, it was great apart from the child like size portions vegetables in the adult meals. Which most perplexing, as the meat portions. Were far from the chain restraunt whaffer slices and so tender and cooked well it could be cut with a spoon. And the gallons of delicious gravy I could happily drink by the pint. As for more? This was considered as 2 boats came to one veg. But on seeing the same on other tables and no informed that was an option so not asked *

Booked a table for 2 at 6pm well in advance. Arrived to be told they needed the table back at 8. When i asked why i hadnt been informed before hand told they must have had another booking after. They had my number but didnt give me the curtesy of asking whether that was suitable or not. Went to La C instead. Been many times before but this was extremely poor customer service. In response to reply - Most restaurants DONT offer a 2 hour slot and if the do they let customers know in advance. If that is policy let customers know so they can make a choice. When we passed later resturant was quiet. More to do with lack of staff we think which has been evident on previous visits.

Booked a week previously as my friend and I come here quite often for a catch up. Arrived at 6 to be told they needed the table back at 8. I said i should have been informed when booking to be told that the table might have been booked after i had done so. If that was the case why didnt someone ring me to let me know so we could make alternative arrangements? Went to La C down the road and had a fab 3 hour night instead.

Staff are all very friendly and welcoming, food is always piping hot and you're not rushing your meal. Lovely friendly atmosphere well done.

Laat time, I visited this place, it was a pub. Was pleasantly surprised how well it has turned as a restaurant. Food was excellent. Service was abit slow but that was understandable as they had two big parties in.

Absolutely disgusting! Order for takeaway Sunday lunch on 6th November placed on Friday, 4th November. Daughter having lunch at the premises and was going to bring them home with her after her lunch. Was informed that there was no food left when she went to the bar to collect them. Waitresses having a laugh at the situation, practically in my daughters face!. I spoke with "man in charge "and was told,my daughter should have reminded them,oh yes of course she should have,silly me ,I forgot customers have to remind staff how to do their jobs!!!! "Tony" (man in charge)told me that they had provided 70 takeaway lunches and ours was the only ones not provided for,he was extremely ambivalent relaying this. My 93yr old dad had been waiting patiently for his lunch only to be told,there was none. Absolutely disgusted with not only the poor service (or rather no service) staff attitude was appalling, rude,discourteous and unprofessional. Will advise family and friends not to go there.

Visited the Traveller Well yesterday for the first time. The meal was outstanding, best meal out we have had. The staff were very attentive and service top notch. Will definitely visit again.

First time eating here. And will definitely be going back. The place is beautiful. The menu had so much choice. Food was served quickly and was so delicious. The Diane sauce was superb and the serloin steak was cooked to perfection. Only down fall was the staff were very inexperienced. They were hanging about the bar giggling and chatting and we as well as the 2 tables behind were quite frustrated as we had to fight for their attention. We asked if we could get served, the young girl said yes and then had very obviously forgot. It wasnt until the other young girl caught us staring a good 10 minutes later that they had realised their mistake. It was definitely not that they were busy. Don't get me wrong, they were lovely girls, very well mannered, just not professional enough for such a wonderful place.

Went here for some lunch. Nice friendly waitress, drinks orders and food orders taken quickly. Standard pub menu I ordered the cod and chips. Chips are nice and home cut chips. Cod was not massive but nice and crisp. Nice little side salad. Decent portion and I pretty much ate if all and I am normally quite picky. Place was a little bit dark and patio doors were open which made it a little cool but some people were going back and forth. Would perhaps be nice if they had a light or a lamp further back maybe?

The Travellers Arms is fantastic. We went for my birthday, thoroughly enjoyed. I had the mixed grill, a large chicken breast, nice rump stake, lovely gammon and two sausages. The chips were homemade and fresh, all of this filling a plate that was two times the size of a normal one - all for £22! My mother and father each had a T-bone steak, taking up 1/4 of the same exceptionally large plate. It also came with homemade chips and salad. When my mother asked for her steak to be cooked a little more (which is only because she doesn’t like the slightest hint of pink) the staff were extremely willing to help and they even gave her fresh chips. All three meals for under £70 with huge portion sizes (so much so we took a lot of the steak home for the dog, who I assure you will accept it gratefully). Thank you for the excellent service, food and prices, I recommend for anyone who’s looking for a brilliant place to eat out. Will be back ASAP!!

Beautifully cooked food, excellent service and great value. Parking was a little tricky as their car park is very small, but once we found somewhere to leave the car, we were given a friendly welcome. Gluten free menu available with a wide selection including desserts. The staff were very much on the ball about allergens. A fantastic experience from start to finish, highly recommended.

I don't often write reviews but felt I had to as my experience was so good. We stumbled across this place and I was a bit skeptical as didnt know anything about it I was totally blown away with the service and the quality of the dishes. I had the cajun chicken with salad and boiled potatoes....its the best I have had. The cajun chicken sauce was homemade and delicious. Everything cooked to perfection and you could tell the chef takes pride in his cooking. The side salad was great too. They also had decaf coffee which was served in a cafetiere. I live in Swansea but would travel there for a meal anytime!

What an amazing pub. We had Sunday lunch and desert the food was outstanding. The service from the waiters was friendly down to earth .I would recommend to anyone.we will be back soon and to try the week menu. We'll done nice to feel comfortable and welcomed .

Food was excellent. A bit of a mix up with booking and first table we were given was very close to another party but we were moved on request without any issue. Had to wait about 30 minutes for food after order was taken. In response to your reply - ask your staff. There was a mix up with the booking as when we arrived we were told that we had not booked. It took 3 staff members and my idea of checking for phone number instead of name to sort it out.

Cracking pub grub with proper chips, reasonably priced too. Plus you can have a conversation without shouting at each other.

I can’t emphasise how delicious the Sunday roast was. It was absolutely perfect and the staff were lovely. We had bountiful amounts of gravy and veg too. Everything was just spot on. I’ve told the rest of my family we all have to go again. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite but the swede was the best I’ve had, I finished other peoples too

Food good service slow food cold spaghetti bolognese is bland in my opinion . Shame because service is good just niggly stuff like waiting for condiments no wonder fries were cold waited 10 minutes for vinegar I had T bone really nice but I like Worcestershire sauce and English mustard only had mustard

Been here quite a few times,never had a bad meal.always fresh and friendly staff.prices are as you would expect for a fabulous meal.

Food was good and plentiful, staff were nice and the setting was comfy. Traditional pub restaurant setting and the price was good especially since everything has gone up. Would recommend only slight issue is that the pub is on a busy road and have to park away and walk and there is a narrow walkway just before entrance and road quite busy.

Always beautiful food and outstanding service. On this occasion we were celebrating a family member’s retirement and they were so helpful and even gave the little ones books and colouring while we waited for our food. The food is superb quality and plentiful. Looking forward to our next visit

Went to the Travellers Well for a get together with our ukulele band. We were given the side room as we are all silver topped. We had a variety of different foods, they were all delicious and quite quick to serve nine of us at the same time. We have now booked for Christmas to have the same room and food

Nicely presented food and very generous portion size considering the reasonable price range...food was served quickly and efficiently, with the bar staff happy to accommodate all requests.

6 of us came here for a meal for my sons 18th birthday, good choice meals, was delicious, freshly made, served hot and reasonably priced. My son had a steak which was cooked to perfection. Didn't have to wait long for meals. Delicious deserts, lovely and attentive staff. Definitely recommend and will be going back again

Terrible food inexperience staff I will never go there again
