My husband announced if we had found this place on the first night he wouldn’t have gone anywhere else. To be fair some of the other eateries in Ystradgynlais were dire Great service and fabulous tasty food

What an amazing place with superb-fantastic-scrumptious food. Couldn’t just pick one word to describe, so had to use them all. We went for my sisters 50th birthday and from start (booking) to finish the service was exemplary. The staff are fantastic and do everything to make you meal go smoothly and ensuring that everyone’s food is as they want it and are enjoying. I would Recommend the restaurant over and over again. Definitely give them a try and you will become a return visitor for sure. My dad is super fussy and never really goes out anymore for food for this reason and he enjoyed everything even the wild garlic and potatoes soup that he never would have tried in a month of Sundays. So huge praise form him and us too. Reasonable priced, we had starters, mains, sides and drinks and it averaged about £35 pp. the inside of the restaurant is lovely with original word and ironwork. Thanks again to all the staff you’re amazing!

first time for going there. for 3 birthday celebrations. got to say food was beautiful and the staff where excellent. they went out of their way for us. about 13 of us including 4 children. .never recommend anything .but got to say will go again. they didn't even say hurry up because closed. we didn't realise bless. but thourhly enjoyed. xxwell done meet and greet. thank you so much 💓got to say price with that is including wine drinks etc. 🍸 😀

Only 3 stars as the food was fine but nothing special considering it was £19 a burger - £25 a rump steak and £31.50 for a fillet. Staff were friendly and served quickly. However, worth noting that they close at 9pm and we certainly were aware of this. I witnessed glasses of wine that had barely been touched - cleared away when unattended for just a few minutes. I assume this isn’t normal practice- but indicated to me that staff were keen at around 8.30pm for us to leave. Also, food and drinks were put on separate tabs. Not a major deal for me, but it did make paying at the end a bit more of a faff than necessary. I appreciate that this may have been because we were a large group.

Went here last week for my brothers 40th birthday and omg!!! The food was absolutely outstanding - world class in fact!! Have you maybe got Gordon Ramsey hiding in your kitchen? :) also the staff were really lovely too. Nothing was too much trouble for our 2 waitresses. We will definitely be back

Great food (good quality meat) and service. We dinned as a large table, the food came out very efficiently with our pre-order. The staff (manager/host and waiter) were very friendly, professional, making sure we had drinks and worked hard on a full restaurant week day night. No complaints at all, we shall be back!

I ordered chicken when it came it was cold when they took it back and checked it they said well it was ok when they cooked it so do you want it back I said no because you’ve been poking around with it no apology for it being cold and all he kept going on about was I must pay he was almost threatening.They were not helpful at all and would not recommend it at all or be going back plus it was expensive I would say a rip off not happy at all so if your thinking of going don’t waste your money 🥶😡

Took my parents for a lovely early evening meal. The food was exceptional. We were asked if we wanted a downstairs table for my mums disability very considerate. Always a joy to eat at this place.

The quality of the food was excellent. Portion sizes were enough for us. It was a busy Saturday night when we went there so you may wait a little between courses but attentive staff were at hand for drinks. A relaxing evening so no need to rush. Worth a visit.

I then had a chicken dinner to follow and my partner had the pork (the veg comes out separate to the plate so you can choose what you’d like) and both were cooked to perfection with a big shout out to the roast potatoes that so many restaurants get wrong… not the Meat and Greet! We then somehow split a Biscoff Cheescake that was just simply stunning. What a stunning venue too with gorgeous decor and a warm, vibrant feel to it which is also testament to the exemplary staff there. We can’t wait to go back!

Met by a lovely picture of Anthony Hopkins as we were taken upstairs, however, we were sat in probably the worst seat in the house. We sat next to the upstairs bar which is not in use and is unfinished. It only seems to be used as a home for forgotten straws and napkins. It was also difficult to get the attention of a waiter at this table. There was a band, which I’m not usually a fan of in bars but they were actually quite good, with a country spin on once popular songs. I wasn’t too impressed with the ribs. They were absolutely caked in a thick layer of sauce and I sensed that they may have been a microwave job. The burger on the other hand, was nice and hopefully homemade. At least, I thought it was homemade. If anything, it was a little small compared to others I saw going to other tables.

Recently enjoyed a lovely lunch here before watching the opening match of the Six Nations rugby. There were obviously some new staff who were polite, friendly and personable. The Cote De Boeuf was cooked to perfection and we are already looking forward to a return visit.

Visited for lunch on 31st of Dec. Good points: The belly pork starter was great and the amuse bouche was stunning, lovely looking restaurant and the servers were very friendly. Bad points: The servers seemed scared of management. Drinks took quite some time to be served because only 1 person is allowed to prepare drinks. You are not allowed to look at the menu prior to the time you’ve booked a table, when I asked the server for the menu she became visibly nervous and said they’re not allowed to. When I questioned this Shaun, the owner, said it’s their policy to not give out menus until the time you booked because “some people think the customer is always right”, obviously doesn’t want customers ordering even a minute before their booking time. He did point out that the TVs flash the menu up, I should’ve taken my glasses had I known. So basically, 10 minutes early, no menu, you can only look at it once you get to your booking time. We asked if we could order 3 starters as a main, but was told the company policy is every customer MUST order a main. I pointed out that the 3 starters were more expensive than the main and would she mind asking. Unfortunately, the server said the chef and manager will get mad at her for even asking the question, so she couldn’t. My wife ordered salmon which comes with boiled potatoes, she asked to exchange them for chips as she doesn’t like boiled. The server said they’re not allowed, I asked her if she could ask the chef, she said she can’t because she’ll be shouted at for asking. Again, Shaun said it’s company policy to not offer different potatoes. If she wanted chips she’d have to order an extra side and waste the potatoes. Salmon was very overcooked and dry. I ordered the pork chops, they were also very dry and not particularly tasty. The chips weren’t triple cooked as advertised and looked nothing like the images on social media, very bland and limp. The meal was expensive for what it was. Took 10 minutes to get the bill, although at this stage the servers had very little to do and when I asked to pay it they couldn’t as only 1 person is permitted to use the till and she was busy, after another 15 minutes or so, we got up and paid at the till. Which isn’t a problem, but again, not what you’d expect from somewhere this expensive. I emailed my points directly to the company and after a week I received a reply from Shaun, one of the owners, he more or less dismissed every I said, just stating that’s their company policy, but ignored my points about poorly cooked food and the servers seeming scared. In my view it’s overpriced for what you get. My advice, either go to the Mine or Juniper Place, better food, better priced and way more customer friendly. Such a shame as I’d heard so many good things.

We visited the Banwen MAG in November and if I’m being honest, I wasn’t overly satisfied. It was extremely busy which is great to see, especially in a time where the hospitality industry has been struggling. However, being so busy, the service was lacking and the gravy was incredibly salty. From reading other reviews I would assume it was a one off and we are understanding people. My wife suggested we try the Neath MAG on New Year’s Day. The staff were incredibly helpful in securing us a booking for the time we requested. Having never visited the neath restaurant before, I was instantly blown away on entering, at the building itself. Plenty of original features on show, it really stands out. We ordered a starter, both of which were superb. The roast chicken butter to go with my bread is a game changer. The roast dinners, were the best I’ve ever had. We go out most Sunday’s for a carvery or dinner, and I have never had one where everything on the plate was perfect, until today. All of the staff were friendly and attentive, and made the experience even better. I couldn’t recommend any higher and we can not wait to return. The

Lovely Sunday roast - came with some family for Sunday lunch before the Christmas exodus. It was lovely - staff took time to make sure things were correct and to make sure we were comfortable. Food was (as always) gorgeous.

Appalling customer service. The managers attitude was horrendous, a very rude man who ruined our evening. A lovely meal, but will never return to a place that is so unaccommodating for their customers.

Service was good and atmosphere was pleasant. Overpriced burger was standard pub food, salmon had nice sauce but felt like it had been sat under a hot light for a while. starters were nice but value not great. Vegatarian option got a particularly bad rating.

Exceptional Sunday lunch in a unique building.

Came here with my partner, in an almost empty restaurant we got seated next to a large table full of drunk loud males. We couldn’t hear ourselves talking, the waitress even said she’d ask them to quiet down but she never. For the prices we paid it was an awful experience, really just wanted to sit & eat a nice meal but felt like we just got in the way of a mens party I wish I hadn’t spent my hard earned money here 😞

Fantastic food, service and general ambience. We booked the restaurant for a group of 6 and it was my pre-birthday meal. They gave us some ‘compliments from the chef’ items, which really started off the meal in the best way and were delicious - as was the rest of the meal. The added extra of birthday ice-cream and Prosecco really was a bonus. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience fantastic and the restaurant itself really is beautiful. So grateful for finding it!

Truly the best Sunday lunch we have ever had. We have been numerous times now both on Sunday's and mid week so eaten off both menu's and loved every meal. Beautiful people in an equally beautiful place.

We both had the vegetarian dinner which was delicious. Plenty of food and we ordered the truffle and cheese cauliflower because yum. You won't be hungry leaving this place.

The staff were all lovely, service was exemplary, the rustic decor of the place is gorgeous, as is the building itself and they have live music weekly there to compliment the good vibes that the front of house team and management have already set. It really is a standout gem situated somewhere that really is crying out for an establishment like this. Go get it with your friends, partner or family!

Don't let the bad reviews sway you as they must be talking about another place as when you are here they don't make sense I.e tables too close together etc there's plenty of room. Dined at Meet & Greet, Windsor Road, Neath for the first time yesterday evening. The menu gave many options and the food was delicious. I opted for the Gower Welsh lamb which was perfectly cooked and presented. Unfortunately due to a theater booking we didn't have time for dessert! The service was first class. The staff are friendly but professional. It's a wonderfully welcoming relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning soon.

The Sunday lunch we had blew every roast dinner either of us has had anywhere else out of the water. Extremely high quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and very friendly staff

Went on a Saturday evening after hearing good feedback. There were only two steaks available out of four (ribeye and fillet) and no specials, despite them being advertised on screens. Ordered a ribeye and a fillet, both medium rare. Fillet was essentially a small sirloin cooked medium, at £30. Chips and wine were nice. Pub food at restaurant prices, and lack of choice on a Saturday evening. Not as good as their marketing suggests. Wouldn't recommend.

This place knows how to do meat! Sunday lunch was excellent - really great tasting food. We had pork belly, chicken supreme and beef - I have to say I wish I had ordered the beef, it was so tender, cooked to perfection and served with potatoes,v Yorkshire pudding, mash and veg. My only gripe would be that there maybe could be more veg served, although we couldn't even finish our meals! A little more expensive than other options around the area, but the quality of food, service and options means that we will definitely return! I'd really like to try the weekday menu as well! Very attentive staff and good surroundings make this a strong recommendation from me!

Bath and London prices, but located in the small town of Neath! My partner and I have been fortunate enough to live in London and Bath for a number of years, but we were taken aback by the prices on the menu. For example, 15 pounds for a basic vegan burger with no sides and a drink. Another example is the cheeseburger which is 18 pounds also with no sides and a drink. You can easily spend 70 pounds between two people, on a budget! The food is decent, but very much let down by the astronomical prices. The building is located in the old Guardian Press which is great, so a very nice place to sit and dine. Thanks for having us.

I really enjoyed my meal here tonight. The brie to start was gorgeously melty. And there is nothing better than good, rare filet steak. Really recommend the red wine sauce and the sweet potato chips. I'm not the world's greatest pudding person, but the chocolate fudge cake was calling me! Overall, a really enjoyable meal. Sweet, prompt service. Really pleasant atmosphere. Eating in Neath always carries a slightly retro vibe to me (it is our lovely town after all), but this was truly lovely and I'm looking forward to eating here again.
