The room was clean and the owner was very friendly.

Room is perfect very clean and well laid out. There is a fridge in the room and a microwave, I found this very helpful it meant I could save money on eating out. And could keep my drinks cool. The staff are very helpful and respond back very quickly. Plenty of parking in a carpark at side of building. And it is easy to access the building and room. I am very happy

The room was clean and warm, the shower pressure was excellent and the water was nice and hot. The bed was very comfortable slight problem with the key code getting in but it was easy to get hold of someone to help me with it. Plenty if parking quiet area and lovely views. Good village about a Mile away with good shops, restaurants, lots of pubs and a theatre .

I'm really disappointed. We've had issues from the start. Couldn't get into the building. Code didn't work took almost an hour to gain access. Not clear signage. We're in the apartment so we had allocated parking space which backs to a very unsightly bin area. The apartment stairs and hallway has a awful smell. This was reported 3 days ago, nothing has been done. They've told me this morning they are sorting it. It stinks of poo. The apartment isn't clean even though they stress it's cleaned throughout. It hasn't. We've had to move furniture around, the sofa was under the TV. On moving the sofa it was dusty with an old sock under it. The shower room needs a good scrubbing. I've had to clean it for our use. No general waste bin. We've had to buy sacks. No washing up liquid. Again we've had to buy our own. The first day no hot water in the kitchen. An engineer came out and sorted that. 👌 Had to ask for breakfast bowls. The road outside is noisy but didn't bother us. I'm not normally one for complaining but all the little things have upset me. My husband has Dementia I'm disabled and coming to visit family for the last time has put a damper on our much needed holiday. We've paid far too much to stay here. I've asked for a part refund. No reply. I've also said I really didn't want to stay here. But with no refund we have to stay the week. As They've said this place is home from home. It sure isn't. We are planning on where we can go today and get out. We also have to find a restaurant for this evening dinner. Positive.. The bed is comfortable. Washer dryer very good. Big flat screen TV. The big negative. The stink! Cooker not clean No restaurant.

Booked last minute so didn’t expect much but they definitely went out of way to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Everyone we spoke to was so friendly and polite, lovely room, clean, comfortable and even got Disney plus on tv for relaxing! Bathroom was also so lovely, and clean. Will be returning and would recommend booking for a relaxing night

I needed a place to get away and Lauren was absolutely amazing. A lovely courtesy call with me over sharing my situation and she was absolutely amazing. So friendly and helpful. Checking in with me to make sure the room and I were OK. She even arranged a meal to be sent to me. Absolutely top class! The room was everything I needed it to be. Enough room in the fridge for meals for a few nights and my lunch stuff. Love the pressure of the shower too!

Room is perfect for my overnight stay, the management company were faultless, couldn’t do more to make my stay easier. Location is amazing, with a shop a short walk and some lovely pubs within a stone’s throw. Definitely stay here again.

I’ve stayed in Swansea for work the last 3 weeks, and The New Lodge is by far the Best. The room is a nice size, with a Comfy Double bed. Pillows specifically were heavenly to sleep on. I’ve seen previous comments moaning about the room size? I mean I don’t know if there trying to play a game of badminton in the room but it’s plenty big enough. I’ve been here for a week and couldn’t be happier. Water pressure and water temp in the shower was amazing. The room has everything you need, Mini Fridge, Microwave, Kettle, Cutlery, Plates and bowls, Hairdryer and Tea and coffee. Almost forgot, it has a great large HD Smart TV to watch anything you like, Netflix, Amazon Prime ETC. Honestly Couldn’t Fault it! Amazing

Excellent stay at the New lodge. Lovely Helpful friendly staff. Would defo recommend anyone to pop down to the new lodge for food. Both the meals we chose were amazing. Excellent quality of food and really tasty all washed down by a pint or 8 of madri. We stayed for one night and were made to feel at home. Wouldnt stay here again, walked through the bar area was looked up and down as in to say what are these doing here, we was taken to our room witch cost £60 a night roughly to a room that the wall paper is falling off, wasnt told nothing about wether we could come down to have food or nothing we thought due to staying up stairs we could have food there but was told we couldnt eat there as fully booked but we turned up at 2 in afternoon no one told us about booking! We didnt know then if we was aloud to order food to our room or even go get drinks from the bar so we ended up leaving and drinking else where and eating else where, no information on anything was given about what we was aloud todo or not, we came to swansea for a weekend break due to my partner beating cancer so we was having a weekend away and we thought we stay here for our last place befor we go home but we could not wait to get out

Was treated to a meal here for my 40th birthday by my mother in law. The service was friendly and prompt and there was a lovely varied choice on the menu. The steak was cooked exactly to how I ordered it, it came with mushrooms, peas and chips and a half slightly grilled tomato. Everything tasted lovely and was presented well. Would definitely recommend going here again.

2 star hotel with a 10 star staff. They resolved an issue we had straight away and went above and beyond to make our stay excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Beautiful place to visit. The staff are very friendly and food is outstanding. My family all had main courses and deserts. Everything was cooked fresh and was delicious. Cannot wait to go again.

I came to visit my son and family in Alltwen, Pontardawe, and decided to stay at The New Lodge, I was lucky to be given the deluxe suite, stunning views over the valleys, new modern bathroom, excellent shower. Only gripe no hangers in the wardrobe, I should have mentioned it, but forgot. The owners have recently taken over the property and are improving it bit by bit. The only other problem is they don't provide breakfast, they informed me on arrival that it was stated when booked room only!!! Maybe it was me not looking, but I double checked and saw nothing saying room only, luckily my son lived across the road, so I had breakfast with him, but if you were staying, there is no where locally to get anything to eat without driving afar, I did mention this to the owners, saying if maybe they didn't want to offer a cooked breakfast , offer a continental in bar or a hamper you could eat in your room. Considering there are only three rooms, total of 6 people at any one time, it's not hard to cater for !!. I would recommend and stay here again providing breakfast was provided. The hosts were very warm and welcoming, fingers crossed they can improve there business.

First time at the The New Lodge and it definitely won’t be the last. The food was off the scale, fresh, tasty, well cooked and great portions. From a shared starter of Nachos, plenty for the four of us, to the four different main meals this place surpassed our expectations. We go out for lunch every Friday to different venues, this place has beaten every other place we have tried so far. I would say do yourself a favour and try this restaurant you won’t be disappointed.

By far the best meal i have had in a long time. I highly recommend this place. The service was also fantatsic we felt so welcome. We will definitely be returning. Please try this place you will not be disappointed x

When your allowed to go for food as a family after lockdown this place is highly recommended. The food is off the scale of size portions and beautiful the peppercorn sauce the best I've ever tasted! As for the service Gareth, thank you. A lovely family run pub restaurant and b n b I might even book a room for a night,and I only live 10 mins away lol

Staff are so friendly especially the Ginger lad ( owner I think) he is so funny and generous, the kids love him, always got time to talk to you and is always on the go. Just visited the New Lodge New American Menu Drive In and what an experience, they blow the well famous burgers joints out of the water... fast, friendly and amazing service, and the food, Hot, stunning and cheap. Can't wait for them to go back to thier original menu and have a sit down meal when things get back to normal. Well worth a visit

Fantastic Xmas lunch, the guys could not be more accommodating to make sure you are happy. Couldn't decide on a meat "do you want a bit of both?". Huge portions. Highlights Swede mash mmmmm Beef and turkey were to die for Real chips (for the 3yr old) Mushroom stroganoff was so good my niece doggy bagged the left overs for tea Vege dinner was so good that my sister paid to get the roast "thing" that replaced the meat on her meal for her Xmas Dinner this year Superb staff

Really enjoyed my visit. Went for a `Christmas Meal` with a friend. There is an immediate welcoming atmosphere there and the staff are outstanding and so helpful and friendly. The food was delicious and the staff are very attentive and go the extra mile to ensure your experience there is an excellent one, which mine was. There was an array of alcohol free drinks, which was nice to see, even alcohol free gin.. It was good to see them being creative in that respect in keeping with the covid rules, yet providing excellent choices. Well Done all I shall certainly recommend you XXX

We visited for the first time last week on a friends recommendation and absolutely loved it. We decided to go for a pre-lockdown last supper last night and decided to go back because we'd had such a good meal last time. Food is cooked to perfection and the service is fantastic. All of the staff there are lovely - so friendly, welcoming and attentive without being over the top. We can't wait to come back.

I am lucky to eat in very nice restaurants quite often and so am used to good service however the New Lodge still manages to stand out as being a really special dining experience (despite our last visit being a standard non occasion Friday evening). Their team cannot do enough to make you feel comfortable and are attentive without being intrusive, there is a lovely homely ambience and the ongoing modernisation of the restaurant have brought nice touches (tv’s with forthcoming special menus/promoting local initiatives). The food itself is always excellent, plentiful portions and well priced, with a really broad menu which would usually mean a compromise on quality but this hasn’t been the case any time we’ve enjoyed a meal at the New Lodge.

I really enjoyed my first visit to The New Lodge such a welcoming atmosphere, staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough, the food was outstanding with good size portions and very reasonable prices. Will definitely be going back and would recommend to family and friends.

We stayed in this B&B for one night whilst visiting family in the surrounding areas and I would happily go back! We had a call earlier on our check in day to warn us that most of the local eateries close early on a Friday and the owner didn’t want us to be hungry! When we arrived he was so happy to meet us and was friendly to our whole party- the rooms are “compact” however we were told we had the smallest rooms. They had everything you need in them and the bed was lovely and comfy! The breakfast had everything you could want including the option to build your own fry up which worked perfectly for our fussy eater! We really felt like we were guests in their home rather than in a business!

Not stayed here. Regularly meet up for food and the staff cannot do enough to help. The food is simply delicious.

Stunning home cooked food, generous portions and super reasonable

A great selection of burgers and the usual pub grub, often come here if we want to stay local. Big portions and a friendly service, they offer kids meal with drink and ice cream in the price, so all round value for money.

I have to admit I often go to the Lodge for a takeaway Dinner as I live near by and not once have i ever had a complaint.The beef is incredible and vegetables all cooked well with a very sizeable portion.Value for money you can't beat it :)

We’ve been here a few times now and have always enjoyed our meals.Sunday was our first but not last for the Sunday lunch. We both chose the lamb which was lovely but we could have had the turkey or beef. There was roast as well as new potatoes and stuffing and Yorkshire puds. There was 4 veg served in tureens - peas / mushy peas, carrots, swede, and cabbage. It all went together with a lovely tasty gravy. Will we come again? Yes definitely!

Second visit. Varied menu. Lunch menu available which has specials at a lower cost. I had the chicken balti off the special selection and the gammon was ordered. It was ok, meals cooked better last visit. I'm putting this down to a birthday party celebration and the meals being rushed.

Liked the look of this from previous searches..not many places open on a Monday..so decided to give it a go.So glad we did.Lovely welcome,good selection of drinks and an extensive menu.Decided on 2 course special as ticked all boxes.Thai fishcake and Chicken goujons to start,Rump with scampi and homemade chips,Chicken with stilton sauce and sauteed garlic pots.An oligatory visit to the salad bar was an added bonus.All very well presented,generous portions to boot.No room for dessert,but was so tempted by the selection.Finished our drinks in the beer garden.All in all a wonderful nightWill be returning to try Sun dinner very soon.....

Our family of 20 recently celebrated my wife and my 70 th birthdays here with a Sunday lunch.Most had Sunday lunch but some had steaks chicken etc.Lamb beef and turkey were all available.The meat on all was very succulent, served with roast and new potatoes,peas,carrots,swede ,cabbage and mushy peas also stuffing and Yorkshire pudding with plenty of lovely home made proper gravy.The six girls including the talented chef looked after us really well and were all very switched on.The landlord bent over backwards to supply us with drinks and sourced some lovely Prosecco.Thanks again for a lovely family lunch in a separate room.

We went for an evening meal tonight and the food was beautiful. Such big portions and so cheap I couldn't believe it! I had a chicken burger, upgraded to sweet potato fries, garlic bread and a pint of cider for less than £10! It was the 2nd time I've visited but we'll definitely be back again!

Went here with the family for sunday lunch & we definitely wont return. The veg which is served in taurine's were swimming in water. The veg consisted of mushy peas, cabbage, Swede, carrots, boiled potatoes and garden peas while the meat, roast potatoes & Yorkshire come served on your plate However the Swede was like orange runny mush, the garden peas had been way overcooked which were also swimming in water so they were like mush, the Yorkshire's were hard and burnt on one side & to be honest all 4 of us hardly ate anything. I must say the gravy was nice though. If you have no teeth & like a plate of mush then you'd love this place but we as a family definitely will not return....

Fancied a quick, tasty and local meal so decided on the new lodge. We ordered the special lamb balti and chicken & ribs meal. The balti meal was delicious. It came with poppadom, naan bread mango chutney, chips and rice. A little salad bar available to accompany your meal. Nice sauvignot the pub was quiet and the service not intrusive but satisfactory. We viaited the butchers the weekend before (which i love) but have to say we enjoyed this whole experience inc the price, more. Good, wholesomw, tasty meals at an affordable price.

My wife and I visit on Wednesday or Sunday as we please because these are the two days Calvary Dinner is catered for. The chef serves the meat, then you he,p yourself ;) I would advise to book as these are popular days but I’m sure you won’t get turned away if no booking. On other days, a salad bar is available for starters, self service before your main course arrives. Staff always helpful. Very good prices. Plenty of parking spaces in car-park.

We called to the new lodge we had 2 courses 1st we had over cooked fish cakes with chilli sauce . Well what can I say about our poor main course chicken breast with oily sauté potatoes and peas very bland .

What a great find, the rooms are functional but clean, good beds. The food and service is excellent. Vegan choices. Brilliant value for money. As a business traveller it is ideal for Swansea, Port Talbot etc. Well done.

We visited last night based on recommendations and weren't disappointed. The food was gorgeous, proper home cooked food and so reasonably priced. The staff were so attentive and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be returning and passing on further recommendations.

We visited here on the recommendation of family and friends. We visited on a sunday and attended the 12 o clock sitting. The building itself is very old and would benefit from a lick of paint.

Amazing meal, great value for money and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We can’t wait to come again, the rest of the menu looks great, time for bed, I’m full as an egg.

Lovely cosy pub feel, waitresses were really nice and very help full. Had the chicken mountain and steak Mountain which was really nice. They have a lovkeybsalad bar that is free if you but a main meal. The steak was a bit chewy but other than that first class

We've eaten here for family evening meals in June and August, both times excellent, but went lunchtime on the 11th December for my husbands birthday as a smaller family group with a new baby. I had a beef dinner which was lovely. We all had different starters and meals, all enjoyed them.

Comfy bed but room was so small. Food in the evening was lovely and the staff and owner pleasent. Breakfast was disappointing and there was no thankyou for staying please come again or anything. 2nd time just went for a sunday lunch....beef was lush and the rest was tasty would go again.

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. It was a very pleasant experience as (almost) everything was fine. The owner, family and staff are very welcoming, and do what they can to make your stay enjoyable. I was shown to my room, which was clean and bright, with a good size TV in the right position to view (sometimes a rare thing!). There was sufficient tea and coffee products and a packet of biscuits to go with them. The bed was a single (Twin room) and quite comfortable for me. There was a good duvet on the bed, but because of the temperature at the time, felt a little warm with it on, but too cool not to cover up! Apart from doors banging until late, it was a very good nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was very good, although due to an access problem, was delayed for myself and another guest for some 10-15 minutes. The breakfast itself was good and substantial, with a great choice on the menu. The menu offered a Breakfast A, B, & C, but you could add or omit anything, so seemed a little strange way of doing it! A good way to start the day and a friendly wave goodbye completed what was an enjoyable stay. I would certainly stay there again if I was in the area! Very good value.

To be clear, the food was okay. There was a sort of carvery thing going on where you chose a plate size and then it got filled up. I know a lot of people who equate portion size with value but that isn't me. The meat was tasty but the vegetables were mostly overcooked. There was no table service at this point although they may do it at other times. The exterior decor is kind of bland and nondescript and this blandness continues inside like something which has been there since the 1970's. The odd thing is that, as far as I know, it's changed hands at least twice and you'd presume decorated. I'd go again if I had to though.

Warm and welcoming. Lovely place to stop for the night. Very clean. Resturant food lovely. Went out there way to help.

On this occasion I booked for a party of 12 to dine at 2pm. We arrived 15 minutes early and our table was set and waiting for us. I ordered drinks for everyone and our order was taken quickly afterwards. Service was faultless and the food was both tasty and plentiful. All 12 people thoroughly enjoyed and a big thank you to the staff on the day for making it an enjoyable experience.

Came here with friends, a table of four. We did waits little while for food, but the place was quite busy and when the food was delivered with perfectly cooked homechips, and delicious mains, the waist did not matter! Between us we had lasagne, steak, fish and cottage pie- no complaints with any of them and all cleared the plates. They have a good selection on the Gluten Free menu which seems to be a rarity so Excellent if you are GF and fancy a bit of choice for a change. Will definately be back soon atleast to try their midweek carvery!

I took my husband here for lunch after having a lovely experience with friends a while ago. There was only one girl working but it wasn't overly busy. She directed us towards a table, brought menus and took our drinks order.

Visited at lunchtime and had the 2 for £12 deals. Lovely food, good size portions and real homemade chips. Salad bar selection was included in the price and a welcome surprise. We all enjoyed our meals which are very good value for money. The waitress was friendly, welcoming, helpful and efficient. The restaurant is clean and warm. Looking forward to our next visit for the Wednesday carvery!

Just returned home from this fantastic hotel staff were very friendly, helpful, food was great and to top it all rooms very comfortable, modern and exceptionally clean. The owners couldnt do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble. Would definately recommend a stay there :-)

Food excellent ( garlic and chilli prawns, garlic bread, fish and chips and Cajun chicken, real chips), staff very friendly. Lovely place to go and have meal.

Very polite staff - food is cooked great. The space between the chairs is a nice amount as you are having a private dinner and the special menu is very nice.

Food wasn't the best and took an absolute age to arrive (two and a half hours to eat a steak and a sweet), the butter is in foil and the condiments are in plastic. I've been a few times before but I won't be going again.

A nice place to go for sunday lunch , choice of 3 meats and plenty enough veg for 4 people . All at a reasonable price with lovely , friendly staff . Even better value if you go midweek .

I have been here previously for Sunday dinner and found it to be reasonable quality home cooked food, generous potions and excellent value with attentive staff. During this visit it was still generous potions and I was pleased with the bill at the end BUT.... the food was poor, we waited about half hour to get served and food took an absolute age (table booked at 6:15, food arrived 7:30), the staff seemed to think this was normal. Too top it off 2 of us have had upset stomach from different meals, don't think we will be returning.

We went on a Saturday night, booked for 10 people from the time you entered the pub you were made to feel very welcome. Staff were all lovely, food was really nice at reasonable prices the desserts were nice as well. Would recommend and will be returning.

Called here on advice of friends and we were not disappointed. The service and the food were first class, and well worth the visit. Will pay another visit for sure.

I went here last night woth my family. We arrived late and called the place first. They were willing to fit us in. We went in. It is very very modern and clean. We sat down. Was greeted and made welcome. Food was second to none. Could not have asked for more. The lady serving was brilliant. Played woth kids and more than helpful. Brilliant

This is a really lovely, friendly pub/restaurant . Its food has been consistently good since Colin,Ann, Matthew and Sam re-opened The New Lodge in 2015.

Visited with five friends with great anticipation on 4th February following good reports. Car park too small Access road narrow due to resident parking Ah well. Food reported good.Free salad bar ok Soup tasty. Prawn cocktails bit thin on prawns! Mixed grill tasty apart from steak. Three steak meals sent back as too tough. Replaced by two further further two fresh steaks not much better.One steak changed for Gammon which was garnished with burnt bits off the grill rendering it tasting of burnt barbie. The service was good and obliging but the food was dissapointing Two plaice portions were all breadcrumbs with little fish Why can't resteraunts serve fresh fish when we live by the sea. Real fish would be so nice. So I won't be back Total bill £120 with drinks for six I was so disappointed by the food

We have seen a huge improvement in The New Lodge since Colin & Ann have taken over. We have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. Not only a great bar & restaurant, I recently arranged a Birthday Party here for 20 people 6 of whom stayed overnight in there modernised rooms. If you enjoy freshly cooked meals, a good pint at outstanding value for money give the New Lodge a try!

We were a party of 21 for Christmas lunch. It was very busy, but the service was good, and the meal was tasty and value for money. I had a tasty leek and potato soup for starters , followed by a substantial turkey dinner, with a generous selection of veg. The Yorkshire pudding and turkey were frozen but I enjoyed them. Unfortunately I didn't have enough room for pudding. I would definitely go back again.

My second visit here since they reopened a year or more ago. The pub has been done out to a very good standard and the food really is top notch grub, the menu will have something for everyone for me it's always the steaks or the big mixed grill which isn't for the faint hearted. The staff are really friendly and the chef Mathew really does do great food. Be up again soon

Very good quality burgers. Excellent service. Had a starter which was nice. Meals are very filling. Next time I'll have a main and see if I have room for a dessert. Very good value for money. So popular you will need to book. Enjoy!

Went with friends last night. It's a very friendly pub with a homely atmosphere. The first thing I noticed as I looked through the menu were the very reasonable prices. They had a good selection on the menu along with a full gluten free menu which I was impressed with as we have a few gluten intolerant in the family. I had the curry combo and was chuffed when it came with home made chips and not the frozen kind that most pubs do. My meal consisted of two curries, chips, rice, pompadom, naan bread and mango chutney for just £9! And it was all freshly made too. Already planning my next visit!

Me and my husband along with some friends booked here recently for our Anniversary and we all left extremely satisfied. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Also very helpful. The food spoke for itself as I don't think any of us left anything on our plates. I would highly recommend people visit here for a meal as you will not be disappointed. We will definitely be back. Not sure why this place has such good reviews, just finished Sunday lunch with the family and it was pretty bad.

We enjoyed our evening! Two very tasty steaks, well cooked and presented ....free salad bar. Decent bottle of wine at a reasonable price too. Nice welcome, comfy atmosphere. Large carpark adjoining

My friend and I have just had a fantastic meal at this relatively new pub/B&B; it was a good start when pulling up in the car park and seeing the well known Billy Upton butchers ( butchers in swansea market) delivering a huge delivery of fresh meat, always a good sign that they use a reputable butcher, upon entering we were greated by a lovely lady at the bar, we ordered a drink and was shown to our table, the restaurant has been decorated really nice, modern but keeping it homely, the restaurant is devided into 3 areas with ample amounts of space around the tables, a very attractive looking large salad bar was available free to all diners everything looked and tasted fresh. The menu had so much to offer all of which was home made, the grill section was impressive and after seeing the butcher out side it had to be the 36oz mixed grill( there was 5 different types of potatoes available ) for me and also my friend, it was huge and each individual peace of meat cooked perfectly cheesy garlic bread and dianne sauce also ordered as a side they also were most enjoyable. The service from the two ladies was lovely, attentive but not intrusive, we also had a look at there Sunday lunch menu 1,2,3 courses available at a very good price. I have eaten in most pubs in swansea and am tired of paying good money for poor food and the majority of them using processed food, tonight we experienced good quality produce cooked by a skillfull chef that cares and the end price on the bill was the icing on the cake £41 for a huge amount of food if anything I think the menu is underpriced I certainly would not complain if there was another £15 on that bill most certainly recommend and also my new place to eat quite happy to drive from Dunvant to here thank you to all

Me and me wife dined here recently ,the meals were very good quality ,we ordered the cheese garlic bread nice but bread too cheesey for us ,reasonably priced drinks very good will definately return
