Overall nice restaurant. For a garden center restaurant. The quality of ingredients were good Wife had a soup of the day and I had a roast beef Sunday lunch. Overall reasonable value but I take umbridge at the ridiculously small amount of gravy.Especially as the first question asked when I ordered was do I want to purchase an extra Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Please stop profiteering.Provide enough gravy .Change the price of needs be but don't make me pay extra for what should be provided in the price of the meal.Soup was very nice and overall not bad value .for garden centre prices.

The website stated plenty of vegan options and when got there only had cake, soup and fried breakfast. This was a SUNDAY. Ordered the vegan soup and when arrived several options removed as stated were NOT vegan and cooked with the non -vegan. The soup was awful like baby food and had a weird taste. 1 hour later husband and I had bad stomach pains and later loose bowels so food was either OFF or not vegan. We complained via email and were told that the toppings WERE vegan and they had 4 separate fryers. This makes zero sense as food was cooked fresh and suggests the fryers on that day were MIXED use. We are locals and have eaten cake there before. We won't be using the restaurant again as we ended up paying for a meal which had less and was NOT worth £6. It was a Sunday lunch and apparently only on Mother;s Day can you order a decent vegan meal..

We’ve been here many times and always found the food and drinks a little on the pricey side but were of good quality. However, upon purchasing the usual drinks today, we were very disappointed as they tasted watery and weak. Back to the tills we went and a very friendly and helpful member of staff explained that the boss had changed supplier recently. For that you can read the high prices have remained high but the quality has vastly reduced. It’s a shame that this has happened to increase further their profit margins. There is only 2 ways to make this known. 1. Here on Tripadvisor and 2 by not coming back. Shame

The online menu has Specials, but it wasn't offered at the table which was surprising for a Saturday I thought. Limited choice at after 11am. We ordered Fish Finger Butties, which were served with Mayonnaise not Tartar Sauce. They were nice but definitely not worth the £8.95 price tag. The coleslaw was nice but the"side salad" consisted of a few items placed atop a very small little gem lettuce leaf! Cake selection is poor, not the options they had when they opened after refurbishment and nothing like the choice there used to be pre Strikes. We also ordered x2 buttered scones, only for the waiter to add "with Jam and cream?" so we agreed. The price for a buttered scone was £2.45 ... don't know what the charge was with the "extras" as its not on the menu and we didn't get a bill.. We had to go to the till to pay as staff did not come over to us even though it was not busy.

Just been for a sunday lunch here, and we will not be rushing back anytime soon. £11.95 each for 1 course which was ok but expensive for what it was.Had to order from waiter but could have ordered through my phone app if it had been explained properly. The mezls are placed at a drop off table which you have to go and get? No condiments were offered to you,and the way out which is a different route to coming in ,was not informed of that until nearly out!

The Topiary has never failed to deliver quality food and service but this year especially with all of the difficulties it seems to have gone the extra mile when we went for our afternoon tea. There is a new and easy innovative system involving ordering by mobile, social distancing within the restaurant was very reassuring and the service remains polite, upbeat and delightfully friendly. My friend and I felt safe there and were provided with plentiful cakes and sandwiches with our tea. For those looking for a treat and want reassurance that wherever they are going will take every care they can to look after you, this is the local place to go. Highly recommended to beat away any looming lockdown blues. The staff are all very prepared for the new demands on them, they are friendly and most importantly patient with their customers.

This was our first visit since lockdown, having eaten there on many previous occasions and have always enjoyed reasonably priced, home cooked food. However, the first thing we noticed was the changes to the dishes on the menu and how expensive the meals had become. A small 330ml bottle of Diet Coke was £2.30! We ordered our food via mobile phone, which we thought was a great idea. When our drinks arrived, however, our waitress left them on an adjacent table, which meant that we had to get up from our table to get them! See attached photo. My husband's choice of food was already out of stock, despite it being 11:50! So he was offered an alternative, which was a little more expensive, but we were not charged the difference. When my food arrived, I was surprised by the portion size. I had ordered the quiche platter, which was supposed to come with garlic & rosemary roasted potatoes, salad & coleslaw. I think I had a teaspoon of coleslaw and the 'roasted potatoes' were actually crushed new potatoes, so not what I was expecting and was looking forward to. All in all, though we felt safe in the restaurant with the social distancing precautions in place, we were very disappointed with our food. It was expensive and the portions were a lot smaller than normal. We will not be returning for food again. Enhance this page - Upload photos! Visited today with friends for Christmas Lunch, arrived to a reserved very nicely decorated table, lots of care had been taken with this. We were given a warm and friendly greeting from the lovely and attentive staff. The food arrived quickly and was hot, tasty and well presented. The portions were huge with everything you expect on a traditional Christmas Dinner, one of our party had the vegetarian option, this came with all the trimmings and she said it tasted great. Three courses with coffee and mince pie for £20, superb value!

Called on Saturday with two of my grandchildren. Brilliant kids' menu and very reasonable. The size of the portions took me by surprise - they were very large. Chicken in a wrap with chips and peas for one, fish finger buttie with chips and beans for the other. Freshly cooked, excellent. Hannah on the till was very accommodating and is a credit to the restaurant. Tables were cleared regularly and there was a steady stream of customers. The cakes looked lovely but ideally need to be covered. I'd like to see the menu more obviously placed as I struggled to see what was on offer. Hopefully there's a good vegetarian selection for the next visit - I wasn't hungry this time around but will definitely eat here next time as everything looked freshly cooked and the restaurant spotless, far nicer than the old café which was just toasties and cakes with very little choice with canteen style tables/chairs. A much nicer atmosphere now.

The new re-furbed cafe looks much better however the feel of the place and the food is a big disappointment. All the cakes are open for people to touch or cough all over, everything looks bought in or ready made, the prices are far too high. Bought a gardener’s breakfast (tiny) And a round of toast and it came to £7. A child’s round of toast was £1.55 and adult £1.99, but both were exactly the same! The food isn’t as homely as it used to be. Bring back the paninis and the specials (lasagne, cottage pie) far less choice and not much for kids although they do get an activity pack with a bottle of water, which one of my kids wont drink so had to pay £2.70 for orange juice. Also, where did all the old staff go? None of the original friendly faces that had been there for years seem to be there, not on the 2 times that we’ve been anyway. Such a shame that you had to ruin a good thing. If its not broke, don't fix it!

Glad to see old faces back behind the counter. Still cannot get rid of the smell as you enter from the perfume candles - very off-putting!Would like to see cakes covered, not openly displayed to the air and insects. Visited the redesigned cafe/restaurant and its looks very nice. Clean and sleek. Comfy areas to sit and not too close together. Wasn’t disappointed till the meal came. Truly never had a worse Sunday lunch in my life. Bought in slices of meat, inedible green beans and one vegetable I couldn’t even identify! I can not begin to describe how bad the Yorkshire pudding was. I could see several uncleared tables and EVERY plate had the Yorkshire pudding left so I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t eat it! I’m not fussy or hard to please but this was truly awful. I won’t be returning again and used to visit here regularly. Extremely disappointed in what had the potential been a lovely place. The café / restaurant has been recently refurbished and moved from its original location to the far end of the garden centre. The food it tasty and well cooked, and provide breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon teas. The new café is a little dark, but comfortable enough. You have to choose your table before ordering, which is a bit of a pain if you're on your own, as you can't leave a bag etc. to reserve your table while you go to the counter to order your food. The old café would give you a table number so you could choose your table after ordering your meal, which was better. The array of plants, shrubs, trees is very good, and the garden staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. There is a wide range of gifts, household goods, and some clothes available. A delightful centre to visit. Prices are not cheap, but the quality is good. The staff are very welcoming. Lots of parking space, and an overflow carpark for busy times.

We visited the new restaurant today and ordered our usual lunch items. Not to happy with having to choose a table number before sitting down. We used to take our table number on the tray when ordering. The layout of the restaurant is too regimental, other Strikes restaurant being more cosy and quieter. My teacake was burnt and my husband had a toasted bacon sandwich. I think the bread must have been toasted for about 3 seconds, he was very disappointed. We have been regular customers of the café but have decided to try somewhere else for our Tuesday treat. My sister, myself and a friend ate lunch here today. The menu options are pretty standard stuff which are simple to cook. I decided on the vegetarian omelette as there wasn't much choice for the non meat eaters. This was advertised on the board as filled with roasted peppers, red onion and rocket, but in actuality was just a small overcooked dry omelette with a scant dice of raw pepper, red onion and four pieces of rocket placed in the omelette after it was cooked. This came served with a portion of salad that was not particularly appetising to look at, or indeed eat. I found the cost of this omelette at £7.05 to be overpriced for the quality and quantity of food.

Visited the café with friends and not for the first time! We always go there as we know we're in for a treat. Service a little slow, but it's worth the wait as food is always lovely and served with plenty of extras, such as salad or crisps and hot enough too. A little busier as it's half term, but that just shows how good it is. Unfortunately on this occasion we didn't have the extra appetite for one of the lovely sweets, but we can save that for the next time! Large coffee instead, which was good.

The garden Centre is nice been a couple of times but it is spoilt by the extortionate cafe costs. A small carton of Ribena and a Yazoo milkshake cost £4.30. Im glad we didnt eat there!! Ridiculous for 2 small drinks. Will never go cafe again and unfortunately this makes me doubt the cost of items in the garden centre.

This is your typical run of the mill garden create cafe.I would like to see the menu reflect what you receive as a full English breakfast is not 1 sausage 1 rasher of bacon etc and where's the hash brown!£5.99 for a small cooked breakfast is over priced! On the flip side the staff were helpful and polite to me, but did not acknowledge or reply to him which infound to be very rude!Because of this rudeness and the over priced food I have rated this as poor this is because the food was ok.

The leek and potato soup was absolutely disgusting. Way too thick and tasted funny. Paid over £6 for this and a small drink.

Overpriced for what is on offer. Captive market. Could do with making the full breakfast available all day. Sausage rolls at £1.60 each...you get the drift?

Having been given a voucher to enjoy "2 for 1" on the Festive Afternoon Tea, my fiancée and I decided to give it a go.A few days before going though, I phoned up the cafe to ensure that my fiancée could swap her tea for a hot chocolate (I could drink tea for Britain in the Olympics, but she hates the stuff). The woman on the other end of the phone told me that it wouldn't be a problem.Anyway, we got to the cafe and were quickly ushered down the line of people waiting to be served. Quick service, but incredibly rushed. When I got the voucher out and ordering our Festive Afternoon Tea, the lady service me seemed completely unaware that I could swap one tea for a hot chocolate. "Either tea or coffee". In the end I just shrugged and ordered an extra hot chocolate. Two teas for me!When I reached the next lady in the line (I felt like I was on some disinterested conveyor belt of staff) she placed the hot chocolate on the counter in front of me and a pot of tea and a cup. I placed these on my tray. She then filled another pot with hot water. I then reached for this second pot, to which she barked: "That isn't yours sir! Tea for one!" - obviously the rest of the queuing public turned to look at me. Bemused, I simply laughed nervously and apologised. One person tells me that I can't swap my fiancée's tea for hot chocolate, and now this one is telling me that I can?Eventually I reached a third staff member who was manning the till. She was much warmer than the first two and even offered a smile! Again, something the other two staff members had no idea how to do clearly. After accepting my voucher she smiled once again and said "Okay, you've swapped one tea for a hot chocolate, that's fine" and I paid. Why couldn't the first two staff members be as people friendly as this lady? Two Grinches and Mrs Santa Claus it seemed. Before I'd even reached my table (my fiancée had gone ahead to claim a table) our Festive Afternoon Tea had beaten me to it! It was almost as though they had dozens of these Afternoon Tea platters ready in the back to bring out when ordered... which nullifies the 'fresh' aspect of what they were trying to sell.Suffice to say, most of what was on our plate tasted cheap and had obviously been defrosted (the scones in particular). Neither of us agreed that one of these plates was worth the £10 odd that they were selling them for. They must be making a £8.50 profit on each plate! If the customer service didn't put me off coming back here to eat again anytime soon, the food certainly did.

Holland arms has become overpriced, unfriendly, non-atmospheric. Café food is ridiculously expensive and service from staff was rude, unenthusiastic and unfriendly. After so many years of being my favourite place during Christmas time, they have Disappointed me...

Went here on a busy Saturday afternoon in December, I highly agree that the cafe has gone down as I have been coming here all my life and never had such a meal as this, I ordered a chicken tikka masala that came with naan bread that was on the specials menu and I can tell you now that it was not special at all, when we finally got the food it was stone cold and then when I bit into the first chicken piece it was all fat and every chicken piece except one in the whole sauce was fat, the sauce was also like water, it was digusting! I paid £5.99 for a plate of cold fat! I was not and am still not happy! Also by looking at the menu the prices are ridiculous, £2.50 or £2.75 for one individual mince pie is ridiculous, I will not be eating here again!

The cafe used to be one of those places we would go for a treat, as it was so lovely. Note "used to be".Unfortunately, a few years ago the family run garden centre was taken over by Klondyke and since then the whole place, but particularly the cafe, has really gone downhill. The so-called modernisation has ruined what was once a friendly place with delicious food. Now, the once extensive menu has been reduced to make way for fancy drinks machines and hi-tech tills, that the staff have little or no interest in using. The range of cakes made this cafe a particular pleasure but now the choice has been decimated to allow for "pretty" plating, with fruit decorations on the pre-plated portions. Why do we need this? It adds to the cost but the choice is so meagre, cake sales have probably gone down when taken portion by portion.Prices have gone up and service has gone down. The staff remains the same, so one can only assume that they are so demoralised by the way in which their former treasure has been destroyed, that they have lost heart. It's such a shame when these big companies take over and feel that every location has to be a carbon copy of everywhere else, instead of allowing it to be run properly by people who know what their loyal customers want.Oh and in case you're reading this Klondyke - your Christmas display this year is rubbish! Holland Arms Garden Centre used to have a stunning display that encouraged multiple visits and much spending each year. It's been going down over the last few years too but this year it's dire.We won't be going back, to either the cafe or the garden centre (and we used to go at least twice a month). Very disappointed.

This place has so much potential, unfortunately the staff, the price and quality of the food lets it down. The food is of hospital cantean quality, but charged at triple the price. Staff are misrable, and when I pointed out that they had overcharged us, there was no sorry, just "Oh ye, hang on" The tea/coffee cups are miniature, and bitter... The owner/managment should look at Fron Goch or Treborth Nursery as an example of how to run a good eating establishment....

My wife and I have a holiday home in Anglesey, so occasionally pop into this garden centre which, apart from the usual gardening stuff, also has some interesting gift ideas. We went there a couple of days ago at lunch time, so decided to use the coffee shop.By no standards is this 'fine dining', but then it doesn't pretend to be. It's a coffee shop in a garden centre and you get pretty much what you'd expect. My wife chose a bacon, brie and cranberry toastie and I chose the equivalent panini. Even though the place was quite busy, our order came out fairly quickly. The sandwiches were well filled, hot and tasty, though my wife said hers was a bit short on the brie. Our hot drinks (my latte and her pot of tea) were fine too. Price was pretty fair for what we had.I note the comments about the staff attitude but, as I so often find, if you offer a greeting or cheery word, you'll get a similar response.Overall, this place is average, no more and no less, but it wouldn't put us off a bite of lunch on a future visit.

The coffee shop is in spacious surroundings, coffee was good and I had a scone which was definitely better than most I have tasted at various coffee restaurants. Welsh speaking staff.

Ordered Soup and Sandwich as a lite snack, soup was tasteless and the sandwich was made with cheap sliced bread and had cheese slices (plastic cheese) as the filling! And at the price of £7.25 it wasn't worth it at all, what a waste of money! Could have had a decent meal somewhere else for that price. Never will I be going there again, shame really as I live local.

Had been to see Father Christmas in the Garden Centre Grotto, (Which incidently was grotty apart from the Father Xmas who was lovely with my grandson) Fancied a quick coffee and Xmas cake before heading home. The coffee shop closes at 4:45, was told at 4:20 we couldnt have any coffee except black expresso as machines were being cleaned. Would have thought this would be done after the cafe had closed. Staff rude, off hand as if we were interfering with them getting off home. Not even a smile. It was if I had committed a crime asking for coffee at that time!

£2.25 for a Latte, normal sort of price. Well it would be in a large proper latte glass. This was in a cup, barely bigger than an expresso cup, and the hole in the handle was not big enough to get a finger in. Garden centre nice, coffee shop not nice. Will only be visiting the one section in the future.

A nice afternoon spent with friends catching up over coffee and cake, lovely hot milky coffee as usual, difficulty choosing from such a broad range of fresh cakes, opted for an egg custard tart which was delicious, staff were welcoming, friendly and approachable as they have been on each occasion I have visited, looking forward to returning before Christmas.

Come here regularly, and mainly its for a break on the weekend coming for a nice piece of cake and a nice coffee. Recently though the quality of the food and service here has gone down considerably. The cakes arnt as nice to what they were and the coffee is terrible (Americano) i usually have. The staff here can be at times unpleasant and some have attitude problems. Just hope that change is on the way soon!!!!!

I went here with my wife, young daughter and mother in law for lunch. I've been here a few times before and found it very expensive for average food at best. We placed our order and I noticed the lady serving had written it down wrong, we pointed it out at which point she scowled at us and told the cook what we'd actually asked for. She scowled again when we pointed out she hadn't taken my heavily pregnant partners order. Not even a simple apology was offered. They weren't busy and nobody else was queuing so quite why she was in such a rush I don't know. We sat down and low and behold the food arrived wrong for my daughter despite correction twice so we sent it back. Then my food arrived also wrong. On the third attempt it was right but a simple baked potatoe was burnt to a crisp. We will not ever return despite being local. Overpriced rubbish. £30 for two baked spuds, a panini and two cups of tea and a tea cake (also burnt). If you like food avoid this place!

I am local and have been here about 4 times with different friends, relatives and for different reasons. It is in a convenient place full stop. I had a sausage roll ( horrible) and an awful Dime Bar. The worst thing is the service in this cafe. They are local and so ill mannered. They can not smile, can not give you a welcome. I am not sure what to do but Strikes who now own the establishment really need to so something. It is common knowledge that the staff are rude and people take no notice of them but why should that be so?? The manageress is a joke I fear. The shop itself is well stocked but so over priced.

Usually food is acceptable today 10 November 2023 I ordered fish and chips and peas chips were good peas acceptable fish was horrible and under cooked batter ok 🎏 fish was hard especially middle part Caffe staff had no interest at all spoken to duty Manager Tom who told me that the store and Caffe are different identity and could not be bothered to do anything for customer satisfaction Very disappointed that Tesco has no appreciation for regular customer to be cared for. Will not eat there never again and I urge people to keep away and dine at Morrisons or Standing Stones nearby where you will get properly cooked food and your custom appreciated.

Last time we had fish & chips from here they were very nice but unfortunately tonight's were awful! The fish wasn't too bad but the cone of chips was diabolical, they looked like reheated leftovers & a very small portion indeed. Not good enough considering the price, I was very disappointed!
