I have been going there for a number of years for carvery meals and the food has been good and well priced. Today I didn't have to wait long for the carver to appear and I had very good service.

The Stonehouse is our favourite pub with food in Coventry. It’s a carvery with turkey/beef/gammon or the pizzas are great and are freshly cooked to order. With the carvery you choose your meat and then have as much of the large selection of (freshly cooked not frozen) vegetables as desired , I like this as you can keep going up for hot vegetables and try a bit of all of them. Best value is their twin course meal, we have carvery and bottomless ice-cream (with a choice or 3 or 4 sprinkles). Staff are friendly, place seems clean (I hate dirty cutlery) and drinks are reasonably priced. They always ask if you are happy with your meal and resolve any issue. Children are welcome and students get a 10% discount with Totem. I guess for balance the meals have gone up a few pounds over the last years but so has everywhere. In summary, we keep going back, can’t remember ever having a bad meal, would definitely recommend👍

Just had a home made pizza, oh my it amazing, the cook absolutely nailed it. 100% will be having it again. I can't recommend more. The service was amazing as always

Meats are beautiful and very slow cooked, beef just falls apart. Staff behind the carvery counter extremely friendly and helpful. We had the all in carvery with two Yorkshires, Cumberland sausage, 5 pigs in blankets and abit of all the meats on display then help yourself to all the vegetables and roasters. Definitely would visit again.

Had the carvery yesterday horrible meat cold beef like gum and turkey cold and dry . Yorkshire pudding hard and dry . Roast potatoes hard and dry again . Veg cold .

Only me and one other customer in the pub. The carvery looked really sad, green beans dried up and curly. So I had a meal and pud deal. The meal was OK except the beans were cold. I eventually managed to interest someone in providing replacements that were only luke warm. Third time lucky - hot beans. After nearly an hour, someone finally noticed I was eyeballing to be asked if I was ready for pudding. I had the sticky toffee pudding. £5.50 at regular menu pricing for something smaller than a tennis ball. It wasn't sticky and had that toffee sauce they provide for the ice cream drizzled over it. Inside, it was hard as a bullet and burned. Over nuked in a microwave. Like I said, I was only one of 2 customers. Embarrassed, I had to complain yet again, and the second pud was cooked properly. What happened here? This used to be a great place to eat a meal at good value. Now it is expensive and hopeless.

We popped along around 8pm on a summers evening, wasn’t to crowded and received lovely service from entry, bar staff, chef & more. We ordered from their 3 course meal option & all courses arrived in good timing. They even helped facilitate our 6m weaning baby with a high chair & a small portion of potatoes just for him. Great interactions with staff & brill food. Thank you.

Been 3 days in row breakfast and carvery excellent everytime

Came along with a friend this evening, enjoyed a meat free meal and drinks. Staff were amazing, was served by a staff member named Reece who was polite, courteous, and could not be any more attentive, excellent service all round. Many thanks.

Staff were lovely, carvery looked like it was out since 1pm veg and meat looked very dry, ordered off menu nuggets were over cooked and very crispy and burger patties was very cheap meat (McDonald's have better patties) Shame as like I said staff are good and very polite and professional just food let it down 👎

Probably the worst meal I’ve ever eaten. Veg dry and freezing cold. Could of re-soled working boots with roast potatoes. Was asked by the chief / cook how my meal was and when I said it was freezing he laughed and closed the door!!! Won’t be going back. On the plus side the mint sauce and cranberry sauce was nice the meal I got and what I left

Me and my sister went here for food today. The chef Matthew went above and beyond for us. He served us on the bar, and then served us our carvery which he was really helpful with our requests. The food was great, and all in all the service we recieved from all the staff was great too!

I Had the calzone, can honestly say it was amazing, so full of meat etc. and covered in garlic butter -yum yum. My hubby had the carvery, the beef was gorgeous. Staff so friendly. Can't wait to come back. (shame not dog friendly)

Brilliant food roast potatoes are amazing

We went into The Tollgate Stonehouse for a drink after a busy day. It is a very relaxing and comfortable place and the staff are warm and welcoming. It's quite sizeable and well laid out inside and we shall definitely be going back for a meal. Looking at the menu there is a good choice, with traditional pub food and also vegetarian and vegan meals. The Tollgate public house was opened in 1938 and was named after a toll gate where money was paid years ago in order to use the nearby road.

We were really disappointed this morning with breakfast. Arrived about 10 minutes after opening for breakfast. Everything was cold. They must have cooked everything so early that morning. Not good.

Absolutely dreadful, the roast potatoes could have done with at least an extra hour in the oven, the mash potatoes tasted like smash powdered potatoes. This is the second year we as a family have celebrated my father in law’s birthday but it will definitely be the last.

The atmosphere is unfortunately a bit dull. We were the only ones in and didn't we know it. Poor choice or draft beer and especially cider

Beef not edible stringy fatty couldn’t cut it or eat it Everything else was nice Plates left on table for a long time had to ask for them to be taken away Ordered puddings and took a long time, I noticed they were left on the counter so I went and got the myself Place was empty so no excuse.

Amazing breakfast. Everything was hot and fresh real good for money. Was welcomed and served my mat who was lovely. We came for birthday breakfast with my cousin so thankyou for not disappointing, is not the first time I have eating at the tolgate and will not be the last time.

Went for a carvery with a good friend, had eyes bigger than my belly. Food was fantastic service and atmosphere were very good. Will definitely make a return visit or two

Absolutely gutted with the experience I had at this restaurant. The food was gob smacking - went for a carvery on a Sunday and could not eat most of the food especially the roast potatoes - charcoal black potatoes... Rock hard and over cooked. You would break your teeth trying to bite into them. Had to wrap them in a napkin and throw them away was disgusted that they were left to be served like that. The same with the green beans? They were still hard, undercooked? Embarrassed to of taken my friends for a Sunday dinner there.

Staff are friendly and helpful . Will carry plate for disabled customers. Food always good especially roast and mash potatoes. Would like roast parsnips other times not just Christmas!

Walking in, it looked like a "copy paste" pub and the decor isn't much to commend it but the food and staff set it apart. The pizzas and burger we had were really enjoyable; fresh and tasty. The staff were helpful and considerate. Would easily recommend.

Carvery was very good. Three meats and plenty of veg. All piping hot. Really good value for the cost. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again. Thursday afternoon so not very busy.

Place is an absolute joke the food is disgusting the place is empty no wonder why when the woman who works there must be a manager has a disgusting attitude blonde hair and glasses should not be working there rats out the back aswell of the car park bushes

Food and service was ok. However, upon receiving the bill, we were told off by the server, as we had ordered 2 child's carvery s for adults . My mum is elderly and does not eat much and ordered an adult dessert anyway. With drinks we spent well over £100 and felt the comment was unwarranted especially as we have used 'The Walsgrave' recently and the child's carvery was never an issue.

Was here today and I seen one of the customers been really horrible and shouting in the waitress face her name of the waitress was grace and the women was very rude, we have a great time with the service and the food
