We hadn’t booked but arrived quite late on a Sunday (just before 8pm) & thankfully were given a table. We both had the chicken Sunday carvery & it was delicious & v reasonably priced! We finished with chocolate brownies & pannocotta. A good find, thanks to trip advisor

What a little gem ! We stayed over recently and were blown away by how lovely the bedroom and facilities were. The room was spotless and had everything you could need for an overnight stay. We dined in the hotel that evening. The food was beautiful as was breakfast the next morning. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

Sunday lunch was lovely. The only gripe was out drinks ended up with a load of cleaning fluid in the because the wait staff liberally spray the tables instead of putting it on the cloth. It's very unpleasant to have it on your food, arms, in drinks etc.

We stayed on the 5th of August for one night. What a lovely pub and restaurant. The pub has five bedrooms and we stayed in one of the doubles. We couldn't fault it. Much nicer than a lot of hotels. We will definitely stay here again. The food was excellent. We had evening meal and breakfast and both were excellent. Excellent , clean and comfortable country hotel. Menu reflects the local history and traditions. Very polite and attentive staff. At dinner times really nice atmosphere. Great value for money. Thank you!

i received one piece of cauliflower, broccoli, mashed potato, yorkie pud and 2 roast potatoes as a vegetarian lunch. I am not a big eater but I was still hungry after it. My mum asked for peas and no veg but got veg and no peas. Will in no way be back. We eat out most days but wont be coming back here. Staff were sorry but nothing else, didnt ask if meals were ok or we would have told them.

Just visited here this evening with my daughter and grandson for my 50th Birthday. Lovely place but the roast of the day from the lighter menu was to me yesterdays Sunday dinner left overs.... nothing was fresh but reheated like I say from yesterday. My grandson (not even 2 year old) food came out very hot, even the waitress mentioned the plate been very hot. Just as well my daughter and myself were on the ball as he could have easily scalded his mouth.

First time back at ‘the Shoes’ for 20 years and what a change. Bar is the same but the expansion of eating areas is significant. Three sittings for Sunday lunch shows how popular this pub is. Couldn’t fault the beef or pork. Vegetables a little undercooked, the Yorkshire puddings had been around for a while but generally the meal and the service was good. Starters and puddings not expensive at 3.95 and well presented. However when the bill came we were staggered to find that we had been charged £2.15 for a Diet Coke direct from the pump...not bottle or can!! A pint of Diet Coke from the pump £2.70. Nearly as much as a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord beer in the bar...which I wish I had had. 8.95 for main course excellent value for money..why spoil the experience with overpriced soft drinks especially for families with children. We did note a number of people had asked for tap water. They must have been before! Obviously a lot of people are prepared to pay the going prices at this pub and I suppose they need to recover their significant investment, but we were still left with a sour taste in our mouth.

This was our first visit to the pub, at first I was confused with the amount of menus and sub menus offered - 4 in total, I'm all for choice but this was perhaps too much, a specials menu would have sufficed. The pub itself was very cosy during the evening and the atmosphere and service was very good. Now to the food; my food was ok but did feel like it was left over from the previous days sunday lunch as I had chicken with mushrooms, rosemary potatoes and red wine reduction. The potatoes were roast potatoes and the chicken was very soft again telling me it was from the previous day, as it arrived very quickly. My colleagues meal was the belly pork, it looked good but had an over riding smell of off / sour vegetables and this was the same with the two vegetables plates that arrived. Which no one in our group touched. I will add the rest of the groups meals were great. Its a shame the food on this occasion was not so good as the pub is very inviting right down to selling fresh eggs behind the bar.

Visited Tuesday evening 6pm. Took advantage of the kebab night offer. Absolutely delicious. Value for money. Great service. Plenty of other choices on menu. Would recommend and will be revisiting. My husband and I have been visiting different restaurants every Tuesday evening. This is our favourite so far.

Spontaneous lunch time call in passing and what a stroke of luck, the place is well layed out and well done. The service and staff were excellent. As was the food.

We found this country pub online when looking for places to eat whilst visiting the Durham area. Our food was served very quickly and was very tasty. The waitresses were very friendly, as were the bar staff. The decor of the restaurant area is lovely and not over the top. Perfect place for an evening meal. Only downside was the wait to get the bill.

A very enjoyable lunch, with great food and service - we'll be back. The lamb kofta wrap was amazing!

I am wheat, gluten and dairy free and I was reassured when I got a slip to fill in to list my dietary requirements so I could explain what I couldn’t eat and request what I wanted. I was really impressed as I have never done that before in a restaurant. What could go wrong? So I requested a roast of the day and it arrived with mashed potato and a Yorkshire pudding. At this point I was really impressed as I thought that they must have made me mash (with no butter or milk) and a dairy and gluten free Yorkshire pudding! The vegetables arrived on a large plate to share and I put some on my plate and started eating and I must say that the food was really nice. The mash and the Yorkshire pudding was lovely and the vegetables tasted amazing. It was only then that I realised they tasted buttery. I looked at the plate where the vegetables had been had been served from, which was now empty and there was all the butter that had drained off the veg. It was at this point when I doubted that I had special mash and although I am confident that the Yorkshire pudding was gluten free as it was much smaller than everyone else’s, I don’t think it was dairy free, as I have never found one yet, they normally have milk powder in. So I had eaten some of the vegetables, the mash and the Yorkshire pudding so I had undoubtedly eaten dairy and I suffered for the next couple of days, confirming my suspicions. Don’t get me wrong, what I had was really nice, and I would happily eat here again if I didn’t have any specific requirements but for people with food allergies or intolerances it was terrible. I thought for a second maybe they have used dairy free butter, but as it was on everyone’s vegetables, not just mine I doubt they did. What a shame, as it started so well.

It was the first time that we visited. The food was really good value and the service excellent . We had a variety of dishes and they were all of a good quality . We will be back.

I've been here many many many times and have not once had a bad meal. The food is very cheap for the quality and I do not understand how anyone could complain about either. Whether its sausage and mash, fish and chips, burgers, light lunches, or anything its always good.

Always assured of great food and service. Extensive menu choices. The own brewed ales are with the visit alone.

This is a nice traditional pub that welcomes dogs and serves good food. There is even a large selection of ales as well and a lovely friendly atmosphere. The only problem I have is getting the other half to leave the roaring fire when its time to good. I'd thoroughly recommend the Three Horseshoes.

We were staying at Ramside Hall and Spa and this was a pub we seen which we looked at the menu before hand. It was very reasonably priced for what you got. I had the corned beef hash cake, which came with and egg, chips and salad. This was lovely and my boyfriend had a sandwich. He said this was very nice and filling too. It was quite full when we got there despite being a Wednesday. This was a good sign! It was a very cosy pub with a nice atmosphere. We would love to see what it is like outside in the summertime.

This was a vey disappointing outing. We had a private room for a birthday celebration but the service was so poor it took 1 hour to even get a drink after they took order and then 3 hours overall for our meal which was just average food but expensive We were sure the staff forgot about us as I don't think there was enough staff on duty

Went here today to celebrate my sister's 60th birthday. We were invited to celebrate her birthday with an Afternoon Tea. The table was set with lovely vintage china, the food arrived on tiered plates. Lovely fresh sandwiches with a variety of fillings, cheese scones with butter and fruit scones with jam and cream. Brownies, cheesecake and individual creamy, mousse. Endless supply of tea and coffee.We all had a lovely time thanks Sis.

My family and I have been coming to this pub and restaurant for years on and off. Unfortunately it looks like we won't return. Visited mid week just after new year. Bar area barricaded with locals who glare at you on entering. Staff don't offer eye contact or any acknowledgement you are there. Bar always sticky and full of dirty glasses at busy periods. Restaurant was empty but the young girl still didn't turn to greet us..not a great welcome. I think this place is tired out. Young staff not attentive and have no idea how to be hospitable. We chased her down for drinks. Food we ordered was basic and had errors. Disappointed with my last few trips here. Won't be chancing it again. Shame

I am always hesitant about going out for a Christmas lunch but this year four of us decided to return here as we like their normal menu.The place had a good atmosphere and although the staff were extremely busy they were very cheerful. Three of us had prawn cocktail which was ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The roast came with plenty of veg which was cooked to perfection. I would have liked the plate and meat to be hotter. Two of us had Christmas pudding which was lovely but the portion size was small, especially when compared to the sticky toffee pudding.For some reason our table didnt get Christmas crackers but I can live with that.

Been coming here on and off for years and sincerely wish we'd had a better experience tonight as we choose r there venue.Really struggled with some of the service and food tonight. TheSalmon was awful. Almost like an Iceland frozen portion. Presented cold and just smelled fishy. Second serving was better but overly heated to compensate for the cold one before. Others had steak which was good and the special Christmas turkey dinner was also good. I got unlucky and there fish was poor. Priced like a restaurant when intact it's just an average pub. Hope to see this improve.

Called into the 3 Horseshoes for a dinner time snack . We stayed in the bar area which always has a good atmosphere even when quiet with the log fire burning. Beer is first class here with a great choice from there own brewery. We chose off the bar menu and food was good and very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

A great place to meet and eat, and for a real ale drinker a must if your in the area. Reasonably priced food and ale, with food to gourmet level. Try the steak, fantastic.... I'm a hard critic of food being an ex-chef and a steak is a good test of skill, with the trimmings of course. Ales are very well kept also, with all the other usual drinks on hand too!Had a great meal with the wife and a cosy pint by the log burner....

As a regular to sister pub I gave this a try with a few friends. As expected food and staff were top drawer, fantastic service and priced competitively. We all said food was delicious, cooked perfectly and loads of it. Atmosphere was good although the place seemed too full. Noisy and overly busy for me but goes to show how popular it is. Definitely go again

This is a great place to water as you can sit outside and look over fields, particularly in summer. After that then go inside of a great meal, with Specials nights almost every night of the week. The food is of good quality, the waiting staff charming, and the portion size is substantial. Hope it never gets too popular as I like to go there on spec', not booking in advance which is a must on Sundays, and they have always managed to fit me in.

We frequent The Three Horse Shoes on a regular basis as we enjoy both the food and the atmosphere here. The service is excellent and have enjoyed many happy times here. Food is reasonably priced and well cooked and you have the choice to eat informally in the bar area or in the restaurant. Both are good

Chanced upon this venue by accident. Excellent meal and very good service in very pleasant surroundings.

When we have eaten here on all occasions, it has always been busy so booking required.Excellent choice of beers and a wide menu to choose from, specials lists and now a pizza menu.The staff were friendly, but inexperienced and this, together with how busy the restaurant was, impacted on service.I made slight changes to my starter and main course, both had to be sent back as those changes (written down) had not been auctioned in the kitchen, this meant I was eating my food when the others in the group had finished, all I asked for was no apple with my black pudding and 'normal' gravy with my lamb, rather than mint lamb.The food was excellent, although other members of the group who had chips, suggested they were poor.

Arrived as a party of six for Sunday lunch. Booking had been made four hours prior to going there. Nobody had bothered to write down the booking despite taking our family name twice. No table available. Was cheekily asked if we had actually rang the right number. I then showed the staff member the number that I'd phoned on my iPhone. He confirmed that it was the correct one. Ah well no one wrote it down so there's no table. Not great business practice and they weren't bothered about sending a hungry family of six out the door. Rang the delightful Beamish Hall from their car park who were able to accommodate us at short notice and enjoyed a lovely meal and afternoon spent there.

We were having a family meal out and decided to go to the Three Horse Shoes as we have really enjoyed our previous visits. The bread they give with the starter was lovely as always but for 5 we got 4 bits of bread, when we had nearly finished the starters we were asked if we would like some more bread we said yes please and were served some more. It would have been nice to have had some more to start with. The meal I had (Rib Eye Steak with Diane sauce) was lovely although the chips were cold. My Wife and Daughter had the Pork which again was lovely but just 2 small pieces of pork and not enough veg. We should have asked for more but didn't want to cause a fuss. My grandson had the Mussels which were beautiful and my son in law had the steak with peppercorn sauce, the sauce was not very peppery and a bit cold. We still enjoyed our night and the staff were great as always, helpful and very attentive. The restaurant is clean and well laid out and we had a lovely table, nice friendly atmosphere. We will be return and hope it's back to it's normal 5 star standard.

Booked a table for 8.45pm after my girlfriend and I had both worked long days at work. We arrived on time and were told by the staff to "pick one of those tables, and I will have some menus brought over" as the restaurant was half empty. The owner was present. We sat down where instructed and I spent the next half hour wondering why we were being ignored, trying to attract the attention of numerous staff in a half empty restaurant. We weren't even offered a drink or a menu in 30 minutes and both my partner and I both agreed it was the worst service we had ever encountered. I let my feelings known politely to the owner, who was apologetic, as we left. We ate there approx 3 weeks earlier and the food and service was poor, and only tried again as it's local to us. Never again!

After passing on numerous occasions and noticing how busy the car park was I was really looking forward to eating here. Very disappointing! My food arrived cold and had to be sent back to be reheated. Young girl behind bar was extremely helpful and apologetic which is more than I can say for the guy who gave no eye contact whilst sat at a computer seeming to be doing very little other than dictate to the young girl.

Ok Sunday lunch booked for family of 8 first issue I had was the tables where very sticky rather unpleasant to lean on with clean shirt,We ordered drinks , waited waited and waited!! In the end we had to chase the order with a member of staff, Asked a member of staff if it would be possible to order our food any time ?!, our order was taken , we specifically asked for no meat on one dinner as my partner was vegetarian !!!The waitress brought out starters and put down , hold your horses lady we didn't order starters!! we looked around to see family on other table looking rather irritable and confused that there starters are getting treated like game pass the parcel, This family just had tray drinks split all over them!!Our food arrived the Yorkshire, meat and two roast potatoes gravy served separate from veg, I couldn't believe the VEGETARIAN meal was served with beef on!!!!We complained and meal was taken away brought back where the meat was just removed !!!! Little flakes chunks beef on plate.I was just told by the missus to leave it, fuming isn't close to how I felt, if that was a allergy issue it would been different story!!!.The Beef was cold and two small plates of veg between eight people and one tiny serving of mushy peas. We ordered some sort of baileys flavoured deserts that where void of any baileys or resembling taste.Been a local I was always under the impression this place was the upper levels of local eateries, as far as Sunday dinners go I'd rather have not bothered.I'm sure it's not a bad place and I'm hopeful the staff are all nice people but this visit was terrible feel guilty about leaving bad feedback but it was just plain bad food bad service.

Nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos desde el momento en que entramos, llegamos sin reserva para 2 adultos (pero volvería con niños).Tenía entradas de morcilla y patatas grandes y estos eran fantásticos, comidas principales elegimos, curry y mejillones. Visited mid afternoon so quiet atmosphere. Party of 4 two meals from the light bite menu and two from main all great value. Nice surroundings and friendly helpful staff. For a big eater can recommend the gammon. First visit but definitely not the last

We use this regularly either for a quick bar meal or in the restaurant. Food is consistantly good, excellent real ale and great service.

Nos fuimos para mi cumpleaños mams, y todos lo pasamos genial! Cada uno tenía tres campos, y nosotros 6 convino en que cada uno era hermoso. Los dos miembros del personal que cuidó de nosotros eran tanto genial. Fueron muy atentos, todas las bebidas más rápidamente y era extremadamente amable. Sin duda volveré.

Experiencia muy decepcionante. Primer intento de plato principal estaba recocido debido a la falta de pancetta a envolver el cod. Sustitución ofrecieron estaba envuelto en tocino, ya no pancetta izquierda pero en lugar de al horno pan frito fue en mantequilla de ajo y el tocino rasher se había quemado negro bajo el grill. Por ahora mis 3 compañeros se habían terminado su comida, que era mediocre en el mejor de las patatas fritas eran pálidos y dura.Mi tercer plato principal era la orden de alguien y bien pero me comí solo y la concesión en el proyecto era sólo cobra el bacalao en la lubina pancetta como era más caro.No volveremos.

Nos presentamos sin reserva, y el amable personal encontraron una mesa; no estaba lista, así que nos tomamos una copa en el bar mientras esperábamos. Fue muy concurrida, un montón de familias, y un ambiente agradable. Todo el personal era encantador y amable. Había una buena variedad en el menú, sin embargo, la comida estaba bien. Hemos visitado este pub/restaurante ahora en un par de ocasiones y nunca me ha decepcionado. A la llegada hay una zona "tradicional" donde podrá disfrutar de una copa antes de ir al restaurante. El bar tiene una buena selección de bebidas incluyendo tonel sin mencionar una gran selección de bebidas alcohólicas y también unos caracteres! . El restaurante está muy bien decorado, con una variada selección de mesas y una pequeña biblioteca para los comensales. El menú tiene una buena selección de platos con variedad suficiente para hacerle todos los gustos. Hemos probado varios de los platos de la carne al curry con pollo a la col, y todos han sido excelentes. La comida siempre llega caliente y las porciones son perfectas. . . También hay un descuento Early Bird en la platos estándar entre 5. 00 - 6. Sin embargo, 30 nunca he visitado en ese momento. El menú ofrece una gran relación calidad-precio.El equipo de personal contratado en el restaurante y bar son todos excelentes, todos son muy profesional, cortés, educado y muy atento, sin ser dominantes.Maurice (creo que lleva el bar & Restaurante de la zona, no estoy seguro) es un chico que siempre está centrado en el servicio al cliente como es Amy en el restaurante. El personal es un crédito al dueño, que él mismo siempre se asegura un gran nivel de servicio. . . . . . Sin duda vale la pena una visita.

Paramos aquí para el almuerzo en nuestro camino por la A1 desde Escocia al sudeste. El pub es más grande de lo que parece desde fuera, con habitaciones diferentes para comer. Nos encuentro familiar que viven localmente y que había reservado una mesa. Hay un menú bastante extenso con algo para todos, incluyendo varias opciones vegetarianas. Buen servicio y buena comida, especialmente los postres. Muy práctico para el A1 y un buen lugar para tomarse un descanso.

Mi esposa y yo fuimos para una comida "noches de filete" que estaba muy sabroso y muy buena relación calidad-precio. La elegimos era de 3 platos + una botella de vino de la casa para 2 personas a 30 libras. 00. Toda la comida estaba muy bien y el servicio era bueno. Se lo recomendaría a todos como un buen lugar para comer. Reserva imprescindible como muy popular.

En spec uno llamado el domingo por la tarde algo de comida. Rápidamente, bien sentado un personal atento y amable. El menú estaba bien explicado, y realmente nos quedamos atrapados por elección! Yo opté por carne de almuerzo de domingo y mi marido eligió el pastel de carne con cerveza. Tanto llegó en una buena cantidad de tiempo y estuvimos bien caliente. La carne en la cena fue agradable y tierna como la carne en mi marido. Un montón de verduras en la oferta. Las bebidas rápido cuando pedimos otra ronda.Los postres eran igualmente preciosas. Tuve que servían el pastel de zanahoria con crema y era casero, no compramos productos en masa comida. Mi marido tenía cheesecake que era muy gruesa y cremosa.Sin duda volveremos! Muchas gracias.

Los colgantes de Leamside kebabs y una bebida por £11. 95 representa un gran valor. Mi Cordero Kofta kebabs con un plato de ensalada y un plato de patatas fritas era muy abundante y mi pinta Leamside cervecería de Sicknote era una encantadora rubia amargo. Comimos en el bar que era acogedora y una gran alternativa al restaurante, que estaba lleno y no habíamos reservado. El servicio fue rápido y la estrella era amable. En general una gran comida de pub. Pruébalo.

Acabo movió cerca de este pub, hemos estado en 5 veces y cada vez, recibimos un servicio excelente y la comida era deliciosa cada vez. Nada es demasiado problema para el personal, ya que soy muy exigente con la comida, pero no me puedo quejar de nada. Mantener la comida sabrosa que volveremos y sin duda recomendaría las tres Cabalgatas a cualquiera.

Very disappointed, unlike previous visits. Food was luke warm and I do not think serving mushy peas is acceptable with a Sunday lunch. Gravy was like water and veg selection was very poor.However, staff were very nice. Great shame 😢

We didn't book table but got last free table as it was really busy, Lovely meal garlic mushrooms for starters which we really enjoyed followers by steak which was cooked perfect, my husband had surf and turf skewer which he really enjoyed, drinks arrived quickly and no long wait for our food to arrive, we will definitely be visiting again soon.

Went to this restuarant again after excellent previous experiences , my wife and I fancied an evenibg off cooking and saw an advert for their two for one special on the hanging kebabs , well what a tasty meal along with a drink for a less then £25.00 We did not book and although they were busy they sorted us out immediatly

Great choice of food from several different menus. Service very good and food was fantastic, visited two nights running while in the area because it was so good on first night. Everything we had was up to a high standard and although it was busy service was great.

I went here with my mother and aunt. Absolutely fabulous meal. I had fish pie and it was very hot and very fresh. We got lots of veg and it was piping hot and done to perfection. The waitress was quick with the meals and very attentive when needed. I would thoroughly encourage you to try it. I will certainly go again when I am up that way.

Always welcoming with a table at last minute during the week. Weekends can be tricky as often booked as popular. Can recommend the food is always excellent and steak cooked brilliantly. One we regularly visit.

after visiting this restuarant approximately 5 years ago ,we did not have occaission ti vist again until we had visitors ,firstly late summer bank holiday , a table for 8 was booked , the food was very good ,fresh,hot ,and the service was very good ,waitresses attentive but not overly ,very helpful, drinks served quickly and food shortly after /excellentwe returned two weeks later on spec ,and again were seated quickly ,attended to smartly ,again food was excellent . would definitly reccomend.

Estábamos pasando por y me di cuenta de este pub tiene su propia destilería. Probamos tres de sus propias cervezas y a todos a ser refrescante, diferente de la habitual cervezas y bien merece una re-visita en un futuro muy próximo. El pub tiene un tamaño decente espacio al aire libre con bancos púnica. Went with a group of 18 friends on a Friday night. Staff were very good. The food was lovely and not too pricey. The drinks at the bar were a good price too. Nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend.

Been here twice for lunch mid week and on both occasions food lovely, plenty of choice and the service was very good. I would have no problems in recommending it or from returning again.

This is a really good pub. Had lunch there today. Big choice of cask ales. Pleasant, friendly service. I had the minute steak which was truly delicious followed by a great chocolate cake with cream. Plenty of room inside and a good sized car park.
