Revolution Durham in County Durham

I popped in to here with friends for lunch. The place wasn't overly busy but appeared to be very understaffed. There appeared to be one person serving at the bar with no acknowledgement of anyone wishing to order food, looking at the app which you have to download it came up that they were busy and couldn't accept any more food orders. No one engaged at all with us. We left. All in all appalling service and we won't be back. The lady behind the bar was working her socks off though and was clearly doing her best.

No puedo esperar para volver y visitar de nuevo. *visitó la revolución de Newcastle hoy y fue tristemente pobre en comparación con el restaurante Durham*

Revolution Bar Durham. I do not to believe we could have received a worse service anywhere else. We wanted to order 2 Bubble Gum Daiquiries with flying sources and 2 main meals. We were told we would have to wait 1 hour for the meals, so decided to just have 2 cocktails which took forever to make and when they eventually were served, they looked nothing like on the drinks menu and the flying saucers were missing. I complained and was told they did not have the correct glasses for the daiquiries. Seriously? The blond woman serving was incredibly unpleasant and obnoxious. She said we had ordered these cocktails. I told her we had not and they looked nothing like on the drinks menu and she either gave us the correct drinks or a refund. I told her we would not accept those cocktails. She was argumentative and indifferent. She said she did not have the flying saucers. I told her we should have been informed when we ordered and we would have chosen different cocktails. She walked away and found two flying saucers under the bar and just stuck one into each cocktail. I told her that was unacceptable and wanted the manager who, unknown to me, had stood at the bar all this time and not muttered a word. He came over, no apology, and processed a refund. If was the most disgusting and appalling service. We must certainly will never go back. 😡👎

Pasó la noche del viernes en el 28 / 2 , aquí con su hijo y su pareja. Tenían el fondo, valía cada centavo. El tipo que tocaba la guitarra era increíble, tocaba una buena variedad de música. El ambiente era perfecto y el chico que traía las bebidas, los mantuvo viniendo. Excelente noche, esperando la próxima vez.

Shame there's no option for 0 stars! Where do I even start on the bottomless brunch, the 'less' bit was the only accurate description of this shambles! On arrival we waited to be seated, met with soggy, dismantled menus, don't even think the table had been cleaned it was so sticky! Bearing in mind it's 2 hours time limit. We were told by the waiter we would have a drinks order taken every 5/10 minutes. Welcome drink arrived 15mins after we sat down, 1st drinks order arrived about 20mins after that....then no further drinks arrived. We had to flag another waiter to take food order (we now 40mins into the brunch) .... the food never arrived! We asked numerous times to speak to a manager and was told he's busy but will be with you soon...he never came to see us, I went to the bar to speak to the manager again and he quickly went to a room behind the bar out of the way. Eventually we managed to speak to a manager and was told we could leave and to email for a refund on Monday. Eventually after many emails we were refunded. The place itself is disgusting, wading through the unknown to get to the toilet, half were blocked and overflowing, no toilet rolls, locks hanging off doors and the smell was revolting. Avoid this place at all costs! And the none exsitant bottomless brunch!

Entrad para esto amigos, es malo. Así que estábamos reservados para el sábado de brunch sin fondo recién salido (alerta spoiler, no era ni bottomless ni brunch). Estábamos sentados y nos reunimos con menús empapados y pegajosos (¡a un volante! ) y nos dijeron que nos revisarían cada 5 / 10 minutos para ver si queríamos algo y con las primeras bebidas tomaríamos el pedido de comida. Después de 15 minutos tuvimos que marcar a un camarero que pasaba para pedir que se tomara una orden de bebida (tenga en cuenta que solo tenemos 2 horas). Las bebidas tardaron unos 10 / 15 minutos en llegar y no se tomó tal orden de comida. Esperamos unos 10 minutos más hasta que marcamos a otra persona para tomar nuestro pedido de comida y otro de bebidas. Así que ya llevamos 40 minutos y tomamos una copa con otra a pedido, que tardó unos 15 minutos en llegar. Avanzamos una hora y no comimos ni bebimos más después, nos rendimos. Les dije que nos íbamos y que queríamos nuestro depósito de vuelta (que se ha dado después de algunas 'discusiones' de correo electrónico). La siguiente maravilla a contemplar era los inodoros - ninguno tirado, bloqueado, solo dos tenían rollos de papel higiénico, pisos nadando y absolutamente atascado. En general, no te molestes con el brunch sin fondo aquí, ya que tampoco lo consigues.

Bottomless brunch disgraceful service in 45 mins only 2 of us had a drink other 3 waited over 1 hour for there drink. Complaint to the waiter as was told they doing there best as they busy. £35 each we only had few drinks no food came till we were about to leave the table after sat on it for 2 and half hours then food came which again was so disappointing think it must been kept warm and forgot about as the pizza was dried up and waffles where black couldn’t even eat them. Would I go again or recommend DEFINITELY NOT. There’s loads other lovely places in durham to do bottomless brunch. Other tables near us also complaint and got there money back and left

had a bottomless brunch booked for 3/1/2024 at 1pm, the establishment failed to inform us that they weren’t opening until 3pm after letting us book in for brunch and taking the deposit from us. poor communication from management with an email at 2.30pm informing us that they weren’t opening until 3pm

Amazing service by Kyrah, Charlie, Joy and Danny. So attentive and lovely people. Brilliant food and drinks too!! Thank you very much for having us!!

Reservamos un brunch premium para 14 personas para una celebración navideña de obras. Esto estaba lejos de ser un servicio premium, con algunos miembros del grupo esperando más de 30 minutos para su primera bebida. Mal servicio de mesa, con muchos de la fiesta solo recibiendo hasta 4 bebidas en la franja horaria de 2 horas. Numerosas preguntas / quejas hechas al personal de espera y como organizador puse una queja con el gerente que dijo que nos habían dado una extensión de 30 minutos en nuestra reserva, esto no se transmitió a la parte que ya había comenzado a irse. Huelga decir que no volveremos a usar este lugar y que escalaremos con nuestra empresa para evitar usar Rev en el futuro.

Came for a bottomless brunch. Absolutely terrible service. Had 1 drink in the first 50 minutes and some of our party didn’t get served any at all. Spent a fortune. Make sure you pay these people after you’ve been because if you pay early they’ll just rip you off. Will not come back After the 2 hours most people had had 3-4 drinks. Had to go to the bar to iterate our order. We paid £45 a head. Basically works out £15 a pint and a dry chicken burger. Avoid avoid avoid

Extremadamente gran servicio! Personal muy servicial y amable. Muy rápido con las bebidas (aunque estaba muy ocupado) la comida era agradable. Sin duda volvería y recomendaría este lugar para una barbacoa

Not my idea for a beer, but people seemed to love it...

Attended the childrens Halloween party with my daughter and granddaughters and they had a wonderful afternoon. It was value for money costing only £4.50 for the little ones and free for my daughter and I. They got a spooky mocktail and pizza which they enjoyed, plenty to keep them entertained with crafts, balloon making, disco and games. The staff were lovely and friendly and overall we had a lovely afternoon.

Really enjoyed my time at revolution a few weeks back. Hannah couldn’t have been a more attentive host, kind, caring and a gracious smile to top off all my drinks. Can’t go wrong for £35 bottomless either.

I went there for the past couple of weeks on every Friday to get food to go. The first four times were great the servers were wonderful, but the last two times I went there was one girl server who had an issue and kept saying that I could not get food to go. I told her that I had no problems with any other server in doing this. She had a bratty attitude even when I thanked her for my food.

We found all the beer options very expensive.

Brunch sin fondo servido por Luke, muy atento desde el principio, genial con las bebidas, sin embargo, mientras estaba en su descanso nos quedamos sin servidor sin bebidas y tuve que buscar a alguien que resultó en casi media hora de espera. Le expliqué esto al gerente y él felizmente se ocupó de nuestras bebidas y extendió nuestro tiempo, que era totalmente justo. Luke regresó de su descanso y las bebidas y el excelente servicio fluían de nuevo. La pizza estaba bien. Buen ambiente. Volveré 🍸

The waiter Jake was absolutely fantastic. Glasses never empty and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be choosing Revs for future Brunches.

We had arranged lunch for 14 of us a week in advance. Upon arriving, we were told that our (reserved) table had already been taken by one person, so the waitress put together a couple of tables which was fine. However, when we asked for the vegan chicken wraps on their menus the waiter told us that there was none, nor was there any oat milk (also advertised on the menu) for lattes. Still we carried on. I tell you, it took at least an HOUR for our food to arrive. One of our guests ended leaving because it had taken so long, while the rest of us were forced to grin and bear it. I asked the waiter 3 times if he could check with the kitchen how long our food would take, but each time after he said yes, he just continued taking orders from other tables. Food was nice when it eventually arrived but the service was appalling, Will not be returning.

It is a good place to have a cocktail or beer but the service is almost never in service. It is like a self service place. You have to go to the bar and order.

En primer lugar, me gustaría animar al equipo de Revs que lee esto a revisar mis otras reseñas en trip advisor - ¡Soy un compartidor de positividad siempre que sea posible! Sin embargo, el estándar de la comida y el personal cayó tan por debajo del estándar en la víspera de la boda de mis primos que tuve que dejar una reseña. Como punto a tener en cuenta, hemos visitado una vez para el brunch sin fondo y tuvimos un tiempo encantador! Sin embargo, el viernes fuimos a tomar el té (cenar) y bastante rápido nos sentimos decepcionados, no había jugo de piña o leche para nuestros cócteles solicitados, pero luego fue la comida que fue la más decepcionante. Al ordenar, el miembro del equipo que servía volvió a leer la orden, sin embargo, por cualquier razón, la hamburguesa de filete de fili salió del kirchen, lo que era incorrecto. Al informar al personal que no era lo que pedimos nos encontramos con una actualización de que tomaría otros 20 minutos para corregir el error, momento en el que se solicitó un reembolso. El servicio recibido fue realmente horrible, que nos dijeran que estábamos equivocados, otros miembros del personal riéndose detrás de sus menús, hablan de vergonzoso. De todos modos, el reembolso fue dado y luego... la comida correcta llegó en 5 minutos! ¡No podíamos creerlo! Como nota adicional, la comida no era genial en absoluto, una hamburguesa de coliflor tenía más “recubrimiento frito” que la coliflor y la pizza estaba fría, pero la principal preocupación es la falta de servicio al cliente, que tenía que ser el enfoque principal de mi revisión. Tal vez solo un día libre, pero con suerte se pueden hacer mejoras para garantizar que las cenas pre-boda no se arruinen así para nadie más. Gracias.

I'm on a bit of a bad run of luck recently. We visited here 14/09/24, we were the only table upstairs in the conservatory part, and the service was absolutely shambolic. We were here for 12, the young gentleman serving must be new because he was more intent on chatting to the other server behind the bar than carrying out service. Upon entering, there is a huge sign outside that says all pizzas £5. When we go in, I ask about it, and the server says, I have no idea about it, says £11 on the menu. After ordering our drinks, we were served with 1/3 drinks to the table. 10 minutes go by and i notice the second of our lovely refreshing beverages sitting on the bar waiting to be delivered for the last 10 minutes. The third drink, just a mirage. Eventually I have to get up from the table to go and ask if that was our drink, it was, alas it was delayed on it's journey to the table because "I'm just finishing off inputting your food order" So now we have our drinks and we're just sitting waiting for food. 1 o'clock and we are finally delivered some food. A chicken skewer starter and a mac & cheese main, unfortunately the server putt the mac through as a starter, which although tasty, was tiny. The vegan burger and fries was rated a solid 2/5 as it was cold. The chicken vegan wrap was a more solid main and was moderately warm, so that was always a plus. When the two vegan mains arrived we asked for some vegan mayo. The young guy went to go get them from downstairs, then stood at the bar for 5 minutes chatting whilst the food went even colder. I decided to ask a different server and they said "we don't serve vegan mayo". 5 minutes later the mayo arrives and I give it a try, to confirm it is certainly not vegan mayo. (This just meant I had 2 mayo's to go with my chicken skewer starters). Ultimately this was an abysmal experience. Whilst we were there another table came in and ordered drinks, where half their drinks were brought to the table, the other half left on the bar. On another table a father was furious as he'd been asked to moved tables with his child for the third time. I'd seriously avoid this place as the food was bang average, the service was terrible and it wasn't the warmest either.

Waited over half an hour for food and drinks to arrive (approx 20 other customers so not at all busy and other customers complaining about very slow service). Cup of tea arrived, dirty cup (see photos), no milk or teaspoon. Food arrived, decent fries but bread stale (see photos). Had to request serviettes. Cutlery on table dirty. Asked 3 times about Meerkat deal as was a Wednesday, told manager would check on placing order. Poor lone waiter having to deal with customer concerns about service, Manager Josh was nowhere in sight and did not answer when waiter tried to contact him. Would NOT recommend PHOTOS OF UNEATEN STALE BREAD ATTACHED There are so many negative reviews, I wish we’d seen them beforehand. It seems the manager is so busy responding to reviews he doesn’t have time to see what’s happening on the ‘shop floor’

Booked in for birthday brunch our table was given to someone else but we were found another one. Waited nearly 45 minutes for food which was OK but was clearly all microwaved egg was like a rubber joke egg! Staff really need to smile a little more. Had a lovely atmosphere but the music was very loud at 5pm while eating

Basura no malgastes tu dinero. Sobreprecio. 24 libras por cuatro pintas. No me importaría, pero los baños son asquerosos. Si quieres que la gente pague estos precios al menos arregla los baños. No volveré a visitar

Paid for a premium bottomless brunch, the wine came with no glasses which then took a further 10 minutes. The cocktails took too long to come out and were of poor quality and then they had no pizza claiming that they had run out of dough! Won’t be back. As to the comment below, I appreciate that it was busy however I was booked in for that time and as for the table it was not prepared we were put on a small round table next to the bar which we were fine with but that does not excuse the fact that no glasses were supplied and if we hadn’t gone to the bar and asked a different member of staff we would not have been given them. Due to the lack of dough one of our party did not eat had this all been explained we would have come back another time and despite the excuses you gave each person paid £42.50 for a premium brunch that you did not provide.

I didn't try the food so I can't comment on that, it's very nice inside and out, but the prices are stupid, we've all seen the cathedral we know what it looks like, the view doesn't justify the prices

No stock so couldn't order FIVE different cocktails we tried to order. Chaotic at best. Food was not great. I'm hospitality staff and perhaps it was a bad day, but the lack of wet stock suggests this is a regular thing

The worst place I’ve ever been for a brunch. We had a booking for 5pm and was not seated till 5.30 and both the seats were absolutely drenched in the previous persons drinks. The floor was absolutely disgusting with more spilt drinks and dirty forks and napkins. Took 45 minutes to receive our first drinks. Food arrived just over and hour and half later (people who came after us were all served food before us) chips, pizza and burger absolutely freezing. Finally received our second drinks which were all the wrong order. Left before the 2 hours was up it was the most disappointing place I’ve ever attended. Please avoid

Visited with friends and asked about the cocktail offers at the bar , the young girl with fair hair in plaits replied can you wait for a minuite as I am stressed , I replied oh I’m sorry to hear that and she did not reply … she continued making a cocktail in a dirty jug and at that point I walked out with friends , I thought it was maybe a one off so returned again just a week later and again we were not greeted and got ignored at the bar while they all chatted , place was very dirty and again the cocktail jug and glasses were disgusting , there is no way I would return here , worse place in Durham … for the record if was a blonde girl and a dark headed guy and 2 young girls both very rude and clearly not trained as it was the same girl that told me she was stressed the week before .

Excellent location and view of the river and castle. Food and drinks were ordered by the app but service was friendly. Food was excellent with plenty of choice. The only let down was the amount of time for the food to arrive….. ☹️ Overall a very good place for eating and drinks but ensure you are not in a hurry

Wouldn’t go back ,staff are very rude,pays full price for cocktails even thou they didn’t have the right garnish to finish them ,so half a cocktail,staff weren’t bother just wanted the money,give it a miss !!

We recently celebrated my son's birthday at Revolution Bar in Durham, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the beginning, Michael was instrumental in planning, ensuring everything was meticulously organised. On the night, the atmosphere was lively and vibrant, perfect for such a special occasion. The staff, particularly Reece and Harry, were incredibly attentive and friendly, ensuring everyone had a fantastic time. The drink selection was extensive, featuring expertly crafted cocktails made by Reece that everyone enjoyed. The music was spot on, keeping the energy high throughout the night. Overall, Revolution provided the perfect setting for a memorable milestone celebration. Highly recommend for anyone planning a special event!

Disappointed no entertainment at all and for £35 the atmosphere was really poor. I did purple peacock a few weeks before for an extra £10 the entertainment was amazing and we had a laugh from start to finish. At Revs this did not compare and we had to make our own entertainment at the table. There was also a hen party on and the girls were all starting trouble in toilets so drunk and off there heads at 4pm! The venue was not very clean and the drink options are not as they are described on line

Revolution was a blast! A blonde girl randomly hooked us up with free drinks—awesome, right? But, uh, there were flies in our drinks. At first, no biggie, but they multiplied! Still, can't stop thinking about the fun vibes and freebies at Revs.

Ordered a margarita and a sex on the beach cocktail for £21 tonight. The margerita had no salt rim or lime and the sex and the beach tasted like stale water. No straws available. :(

Stood at bar for ages with barman x2 serving all the women. Once all gone I finally got served lol ohh and had no pino and only chardonnay at £9 a glass 🤢🤮 one glass and left 😅

Lovely salad lunch. Great value. The place needs a bit of TLC. Sticky seats and table, paint work looking tired and dirty, toilets very drab.

Went for a quick lunch before heading back to work. Both got a drink and a lunch meal. Asked for sour cream and tomatoes to be removed from wrap - server added note to chef and still the chef discarded this request. Be very careful if you have allergies or intolerances.

Just went in for food on a family visit to Durham. The food just wasn't very nice. Chicken was quite soggy. Chips were rock solid. I wouldn't recommend for food if going to Durham. Edit: in reponse the girl that was working kept leaving. We waited ages to get our food to begin with. I bought a cola and had to ask to get it because your staff forgot to bring it out. One of you staff said i don't get paid enough for this. So I felt bad to even tell her it was awful.

Shocking attitude from staff, especially the girls name I wasn’t allowed to know (long blonde hair in ponytail). manager said she was going to have a word with her. Won’t be going back to this place again. If you’re not booked in for bottomless brunch there’s no point going at all paying just about £7 for a Guinness plus well over £10 for a cocktail.

Long blonde hair with ponytail female member of staff absolutely stinking attitude. Were told to move from our seats but we’d already ordered drinks. Was more than happy to move once we had received our drinks but was told ‘that’s not my problem’ by this delightful staff member after I asked where I should wait for them if we weren’t sat at the table we’d ordered them to. No reserved sign on the table when that was mentioned apparently we’d ‘pounced on the table’ before they had time to put a sign out but was at the bar for 10 mins looking at the empty table and sat on it for 30 mins before anything was said. Told the member of staff I didn’t like her attitude which resulted in her calling the bouncer over !!! Bouncer clearly couldn’t be bothered after I explained the situation cos he knew we weren’t in the wrong and he was absolutely no bother with us. Had the same attitude from this member of staff before in December when I came for bottomless brunch. Won’t be returning until she’s not working there any more. Bouncer was fine, what I assume was the manager that came over was absolutely fine cos she actually listened to me calmly explain the situation. Was just that one member of staff, not the first time I’ve had to deal with her miserable attitude.

Had a very unforgettable afternoon tea. It was afternoon tea with a difference. Forget the little cucumber sandwiches and have some sliders and chicken tenders! Best one I have had yet!
