Stood at bar for ages with barman x2 serving all the women. Once all gone I finally got served lol ohh and had no pino and only chardonnay at £9 a glass 🤢🤮 one glass and left 😅

Lovely salad lunch. Great value. The place needs a bit of TLC. Sticky seats and table, paint work looking tired and dirty, toilets very drab.

Great view of the wear flowing past, beer not so good for real ale drinkers.

Went for a quick lunch before heading back to work. Both got a drink and a lunch meal. Asked for sour cream and tomatoes to be removed from wrap - server added note to chef and still the chef discarded this request. Be very careful if you have allergies or intolerances.

I go a fab ceser salad on there special and it was the best I have ever had.

Just went in for food on a family visit to Durham. The food just wasn't very nice. Chicken was quite soggy. Chips were rock solid. I wouldn't recommend for food if going to Durham. Edit: in reponse the girl that was working kept leaving. We waited ages to get our food to begin with. I bought a cola and had to ask to get it because your staff forgot to bring it out. One of you staff said i don't get paid enough for this. So I felt bad to even tell her it was awful.

Long blonde hair with ponytail female member of staff absolutely stinking attitude. Were told to move from our seats but we’d already ordered drinks. Was more than happy to move once we had received our drinks but was told ‘that’s not my problem’ by this delightful staff member after I asked where I should wait for them if we weren’t sat at the table we’d ordered them to. No reserved sign on the table when that was mentioned apparently we’d ‘pounced on the table’ before they had time to put a sign out but was at the bar for 10 mins looking at the empty table and sat on it for 30 mins before anything was said. Told the member of staff I didn’t like her attitude which resulted in her calling the bouncer over !!! Bouncer clearly couldn’t be bothered after I explained the situation cos he knew we weren’t in the wrong and he was absolutely no bother with us. Had the same attitude from this member of staff before in December when I came for bottomless brunch. Won’t be returning until she’s not working there any more. Bouncer was fine, what I assume was the manager that came over was absolutely fine cos she actually listened to me calmly explain the situation. Was just that one member of staff, not the first time I’ve had to deal with her miserable attitude.

Shocking attitude from staff, especially the girls name I wasn’t allowed to know (long blonde hair in ponytail). manager said she was going to have a word with her. Won’t be going back to this place again. If you’re not booked in for bottomless brunch there’s no point going at all paying just about £7 for a Guinness plus well over £10 for a cocktail.

Had a very unforgettable afternoon tea. It was afternoon tea with a difference. Forget the little cucumber sandwiches and have some sliders and chicken tenders! Best one I have had yet!

Stood waiting to be served for almost 10 minutes and still didn't get a drink. It was a Saturday night but wasn't that busy.

Cracking place for food and cocktails

This place was grim. We called for a brew, the cups were dirty and the milk curdled. To be fair the staff went out for replacement milk and gave us fresh teas but we weren't the only ones who complained regards cleaning issues as the table next to us asked for clean glasses, sorry but this venue is off our visiting list.

Very quiet when we called in, only 3 other tables occupied, so hard to assess the atmosphere. Food was nice and service prompt - good value food for students!

Unfortunately, this dining experience left me thoroughly disappointed, especially with the staff. A group of us gathered at Revs to celebrate a friend's birthday, but it turned out to be a letdown. I ordered small plates and waited an hour for four of them, with the fifth arriving half an hour later. My partner ordered pizza and chips but received a completely different dish after a 45-minute wait, with no explanation or offer for a replacement. None of us got our food at the same time, and the staff even asked, "Does this look like what you ordered?" The service was chaotic, and no apologies were offered. I would have raised a complaint had it not been for my friend, whose birthday we were celebrating, already feeling embarrassed. It's safe to say I won't be returning to Revs, and I won't be recommending it either.

Wouldn’t even give the food a one star it’s far too generous. Pizza was dry, my jaw was clicking eating the chicken burger, half the food was cold. Came for a 21st birthday and the service was awful took them 10 minutes to sit us down. Furthermore, the glasses were wet and dirty when they came. Also took them 45 minutes to get the second drink in a bottomless brunch. Complained and all they could offer was free shots and one brunch took off. Will never be returning. Don’t recommend to anyone it’s not worth the money. Been to many bottomless brunches and never experienced something so poor. As well as all of that the bouncers made my friend get up her bank details to prove her ID was her. The only staff member I would recommend is kasey she is absolutely amazing I couldn’t recommend her enough xx

The place is good for lunch & drinks, but the tables are always sticky & nearly all the tables wobble making it a bit annoying. The toilets are down either 2 or 3 flights of stairs right in the basement so be aware. It's a mixed bag of who serves you as some of the staff are very friendly & helpful, but unfortunately some staff are not very welcoming spoiling the visit. If you like shots I would definitely recommend giving this revolution Durham a visit.

If I could give a zero I would. We pre booked for pre drinks before Xmas party limited time. So we got there on time 4 and the door man was a bit abrupt to my daughter asking her to log in to bank account as she didn't look like her licence. Well I could tell difference. Got inside revs and it was rammed like sardines we went upstairs was told to go down stairs. No one at door but then 2 people came to sort it but nothing got sorted for 15 mins eating in to our time. We then got told to go back upstairs after 20 mins after the team member had his head in his hands. Place was rammed. Can't hear yaself think. We waited another 10 mins for pre drinks which we had booked already. Was just awful. Dirty glasses on tables tables not cleaned. Friend had lovely new jacket on then there was red goo all over her new jacket. It's an absolute Circus

Rude staff. Took us 20 mins to calm our kids down while staff just looked at us. We got a food order which they saw us trying to get. Then just said it a 45 min wait on food. No just to let you know there's a wait on food the staff were to busy just cahtting about there weekend.

Booked a table and was sent up and downstairs 3 times!! No one had a clue what was going on. Would never book again !!

First time we've been in here for many years. Took me back to the early 80's when it was The Coach and Eight. Just popped in for a short stop after having been to the pic's. Service was great, food was good, we had 3 plates of 'grazers', absolutely delicious and hit the spot. Beer and cocktails were good too. We'll definitely be back.👍

Came here on a lunch time to celebrate a birthday. Very impressed how I got fish,chips and peas for £2.99 on a deal . Lovely big fish and very tasty 😋. Had a great afternoon

Cant comment on the drinks. But the food was a joke. Chocolate brownie advertised with ice cream and strawberry. I got half a strawberry. Cookie dough advertised made with Nutella. Wasn't Nutella, I eat enough of it to know the taste. Very dissappointing.

Revolution Durham is in a really easy to access place but be aware that like much of Durham City there are stairs -the entrance is half way up the stairs leading down from Framwellgate bridge. More stairs inside up to the main restaurant area. This venue is on two floors, the bar on what we could call the ground floor is dark and cosy, looks great with plenty of drinks available, the restaurant is in a large glass conservatory which is boiling in the summer. I took a table and found I needed to download an app to order. Once downloaded I realised that my table was missing it's number -so went to the bar to order food/drink direct, was told ten minutes later that my meal wasn't available so I picked out something else. Food was nice but overall I can't be bothered with the amount of faff. If you like people watching it's really exposed with great view of the castle.

Nice bar with lovely view of the river and friendly staff. We had some of the small plates of food and it was all very tasty.

Ordered two servings of Fish and Chips though when arrived it appeared only my father's order was right but my serving was wrong, as I received fried chicken and chips. I informed the waitress the mistake and said she would go and check for me, though she never returned so after 10 minutes of waiting I just decided to eat what I was given and though it was nice it still is not the point. The place seemed nice and modern but I personally was uncomfortable with customer hovering behind my chair smoking and making out, though I do not blame staff for this it still ruined the experience. I personally will think twice next time I'm in Durham, which is a shame as the food was nice just not the service

Ok, let's start with some of the positives. Place seemed reasonably clean (didn't use toilets though), lovely views out onto the water and electric heaters above the windows were great, seeing as it was a bleak and wet day. Easily found a table as only 3 others occupied at 12.15 noon. A young lady came to take our order in good time and the drinks came shortly after. Unfortunately, it went a little downhill from there. We waited 35 mins for the food, which I consider to be a slightly over average wait (based also on there being only 2 other tables ordering food in front of us, 2 people at each). We mistakenly thought the food would be good after an over half hour wait. I'd ordered a chilli burger, my husband a buffalo chicken pizza and daughter mac n cheese balls (of which there were 3 for £6, no indication of the amount on the menu, which would be good). Almost immediately I saw a hair sticking out of my burger on the right side, it must have been mixed in with the chilli or lettuce or whatever. Definitely wasn't mine, it was long and brunette!! I discreetly removed it and didn't make a fuss as my husband had been getting fed up and was hungry. He soon noticed I was picking at my burger and mostly the bun and staying away from that side. The burger may I add, although seemed fully cooked, was luke warm. No staff members came up to see if everything was ok and then to be honest, after hearing them telling other customers who were coming in that there was a 45 minute wait, I just couldn't be bothered. My husband managed half of his pizza but said the chicken was dry, chewy and tasteless, regardless of all the sauces it was smothered in, maybe that's the way it's supposed to be, if so, he won't be ordering that anywhere again if that's the case. I also tried some and I really couldn't tell what meat it was! I told my husband about the hair and we both decided we'd had enough. Goodness knows why I didn't complain in the first instance, makes my stomach roll thinking about that hair and how I tried to pick at the other side, but that's on me. When we went to pay, credit to the young lady behind the bar. She asked if everything had been ok and that's when my husband said that it wasn't (he "never" complains). He briefly explained about the hair and the seemingly low grade meat on the pizza. The young lady apologized and removed the burger meal from our bill. We couldn't take it out on her, but did express our disappointment and appreciated her effort to attempt to redeem our experience a little. I'm not sure if there were new staff in the kitchen, staff shortages or if hair nets/hats are worn or hair tied back during food prep. Reading other reviews, it seems there are some areas that need addressing. I'm a fair person and it is unusual for me to leave anything below 3 stars. Oh, daughter's salt n pepper chilli fries were lovely though.

Great location and lovely ambience. However, we ordered falafel and mushroom truffle pizza, and it was such a disappointment. The falafel wasn't cooked properly and the pizza lacked the taste. We waited almost 40mins for the food to arrive and the service wasn't great too.

Nice restaurant. Food ok. Waited an hour for food. Service ok but one person not great. Very nice interior but wouldn't go again because it was an unrealistic wait.

Arrived on a quiet monday afternoon when the terrace was 25% occupied, main bar was closed. Tempted in by the meal deals but shouldn't have bothered. Despite 3 staff being behind the bar and a maximum of 30 seated customers (couples and groups) we waited 30 minutes to place an order despite approaching the bar and trying to use the app (which won't let you order pints for some reason??) Told that "I'll get to you shortly" they never did - we went elsewhere and are unlikely to return. For context, I've worked in hospitality for years and even single handed I could handle that "crowd". Such a shame but the burritos up the road were fantastic so not all was lost.

We booked out the upstairs. Food was good but a very poor selection of drinks available, just a couple of bottles lagers. More than one of us ended up going downstairs for more selection and draught.

Revolution, Durham: ❌ 1) it took an eternity to bring us the food. We came at 11:40 and FINALLY got the food at 1:30! 2) turns out the kitchen opens late, but the problem is that nobody told us! We asked why the food was late many times and all they said was: "don't worry, you are next" 3) when the food FINALLY came, it was a TINY potion and we were STARVING (because the food was so late). 4) and if that wasn't enough, they brought us the wrong order, but we ate anyway because we were starving. (We could eat the table) 5) the bread was really raw 6) there was lack of staff 7) and they only appologised to us when we complained 8) also they kept saying that they told us about the kitchen beign closed, but they NEVER DID! 9) rude and aggressive staff View was great and food was tasty but... BETTER GO SOME PLACE ELSE!

I would not have written a negative review had it not been for the behavior of one employee. Things go wrong, miscommunications happen, and I am generally inclined to let such things slide. Let me start at the beginning. I arrived with two members of my family and two additional friends with a view to having lunch. This was at 12:20. Their kitchen does not open until 12:30, and that was not conveyed clearly if it was said at all. Even so, it should not have taken more than an hour for our orders to be ready just because we placed our orders a few minutes before the kitchen opened. When the orders came out, we discovered that one of them was completely the wrong thing. At that point the server had gone on break and someone else had taken over. The long delay and not bringing what I ordered were disappointing and frustrating but forgivable. Instead of the Asian Bowl they brought me a Grain Bowl, which was good on the whole although the flatbread was undercooked. When we went to pay for our food, that's when the really poor service began. Someone at the till who had nothing to do with our order gave us a bill with the full price for items listed when we had gotten them as the lunch special. He claimed to be doing us a favor by knocking off the cost of beverages, except that (1) beverages are included in the price of the lunch menu and (2) a couple of us even so did not have anything but tap water. Being rude while trying to overcharge us after subjecting us to such poor service throughout, and then to claim while overcharging us that they were doing us a favor, is simply unforgivable. For this reason I would advise anyone who wants to have a pleasant dining experience in Durham to go elsewhere.

Service was fine as it was extremely busy on Saturday afternoon. There was a good friendly atmosphere the terrace was jam packed.

Had an evening here with work and was a great place and the view of the castle and cathedral is 2nd to none

We went to Durham and continually went back to Revolution. The cocktails were amazing and the food was fantastic. It is also right on the River and has the most beautiful views. Also they were quite happy for me to take my little chihuahua in with me. Tho she is so tiny she sat in her backpack on the chair. Thanks for contributing to our lovely weekend in Durham.

We had the vegan afternoon tea. It was lovely. However just double check if they substitute any of the food as we had the fruit pots substituted with the waffles which contain eggs. Otherwise I would have given this five stars. The staff were lovely and very accommodating.

We attended a flower display which was good but ...Filthy tables so sticky from the night before we had to ask for them to be whiped. Ordered hot drinks which didnt come we had to ask twice ..when the tea was brought it was on a filthy tray..toilets were disgusting . I understand this is usually a pub venue ..but think the levels of basic hygiene was very low .

Drinks were fine went downstairs seats are all stained, no decor on the walls falling to bits. Not the place with nice clean clothes on. Needs doing out.

Came here for a hen do and did the cocktail masterclass with a three-course meal. Jacob and the other young lad (didn't get his name) were lovely and we all had a really fun time. The food was delicious and the portions plentiful! It was great.

So we entered today at 2pm and got greeted by a member of staff and let us sit down stairs by the window which was great as the deck was too busy. Fair enough! So at the window with the sun and very happy and we just putting the order for food and drinks via the app as we had no service and unsure if there was table service. So waisted 20 mins trying to download and register to the app and just to about to order then get told by another member of staff saying we can't sit here no more and will have to wait till later to find a table as it's now reserved for someone else! I'm only glad I didn't order and we took our service else where!

Unfortunately a couple of mishaps when delivering our food and my burger(buffalo chicken) was dry. The location is nice with the terrace especially in the warmer weather. And the drinks are reasonably priced, shame about the food

Good pint of Guinness and a good selection of drinks on offer ,however another establishment which is cashless which I don't agree with.

Yesterday 8⃣ friends and myself had Bottomless Brunch at Revolution Durham. The service we received was amazing, the duty manager and his team kept us topped up with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Food was great too and we took along a birthday cake which they served when we requested it to be brought to our table. We are women in our sixties but still know how to enjoy ourselves without taking advantage of too much alcohol. Atmosphere was great too. Thanks to all the staff involved, shall certainly recommend Revolution and we will return again soon.

I got a gift voucher for afternoon tea and we went yesterday at 3 as arranged, we waited an hour and a quarter for the food ,we noticed that the table next to us also had to wait the staff apologized to them and Gave them a free cocktail 🍸 each ,I asked if they had forgotten about our order , we did not get offered a drink, when it did come it was beefburger I don't eat red meat we we were offered more chicken which never arrived , the ice cream was served at the same time which started to melt ,I asked for spoons and they never arrived , disappointing experience

Absolutely awful service, had a member of staff walk over to me getting cheeky and trying to start an argument after I coincidentally pointed in her way. Don’t know how she has her job.

If a place could be obnoxious this would be it. Absolutely awful.

We came for bottomless brunch. The place was packed and I thought (like previous brunches I had been to) that we wouldn't get that many drinks as bar was so busy. We had absolutely amazing table service. All the staff were straight on it and made sure we always had a drink. Joni was great. Very friendly, helpful and attentive. Alex was also lovely and friendly. Will definitely be back.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat, I got the Buffalo Chicken Burger. Suppose to be a breast, I think it was a chicken dipper sorely disappointed. This is what puts me off going to these places £12.50 for a chicken dipper in a bun. Just aswell my wife got a Classic Beef Burger, that was fine and she couldn't manage it all so I got a bit of that. Service on ther otherhand was 5 stars the guy who sat us down and served us was great.

Not too busy but service at the bar was very slow. 3 rounds bought, 2 of them needed drinks changing due to very dirty glasses, 1 had not been washed at all. Looked scruffy inside and bar area was a total mess.

Visited last night for a table of 4 at the restaurant. Wide choice of food available and every bite was fresh and delicious. Lots of soft and alcoholic drinks available with a 2 for £10 offer on some lovely cocktails. Was given a lovely table by the window so could enjoy a view of the river by night. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Had a small issue which was dealt with quickly and we were more than pleased with the outcome. Look forward to returning. Thank you

Came in at half term with my 2 children. Ordered a meal that said it came with coleslaw. What was actually provided was basically a very small side salad. When queried, i was informed that this in fact was the coleslaw and it was vegan coleslaw. Absolutely laughable. Myself and my daughter had a diet coke each, which were in exactly the same size glass. I was charged considerably more for mine as it was apparently an adults. Bang average and we wont be back.

A not so bottomless brunch! My friend booked bottomless brunch for her birthday here, it was originally for four of us, then due to people being ill, it ended up just being the two of us. She tried to contact Revolution for two days, including leaving multiple voicemails, to try and amend the booking. But nobody bothered to pick up the phone or return her messages. She had already paid for four people, which is a lot of money! When we arrived at 13:30, we explained that there was only the two of us, we were asked if we had tried to contact them, and we explained yes! For two whole days. We were then told we couldn't get a refund and would have to spend that full amount there. This wasn't ideal but we thought, we may as well do that to save any hassle. I must add we were there for two hours, so we assumed it was plenty time to spend that money. How wrong were we! Not only did it take numerous attempts to get someone's attention to order a drink, when we had ordered it, it would then take at least 20 minutes for them to be given to us. In the whole two hours there, we had three drinks each, from the brunch menu. We tried ordering more drinks from the main menu with the money we had to spend, to be told we couldn't use that extra money until we had finished the allocated brunch time. This seems ridiculous as we had already spent that money, I was then told we could use it now that the brunch was over, but I explained we had plans (as it was my friends birthday) I then asked if we could at least have that remaining money put on a gift card for my friend to use at a later date, again, I was told no. This is absolutely absurd. I understand that notice needs to be given, but that was attempted! The staff here need to pick up the phone or listen to voicemails. It is clearly understaffed here and the management need more training! Extremely disappointing, do not recommend at all. Turtle bay is much better.

I contacted Revolutions regarding a booking I made and spoke to a lovely member of staff called Jessica Wynn. I had come queries regarding a Virgin Media Voucher and didn’t know you had to book before hand using this. She offered to sort my booking out for me and asked me to email the details to her. I emailed and she sorted the booking out for me without any delay. Fantastic customer service. Thank you Jessica! Asset to the business! 👍🏼

Went in December and had two drinks one was JD and coke had to send it back as didn't taste like JD,also 15 pounds for two drinks and had to send one back isn't exactly worth it

Friendly bar staff, nice laid back atmosphere on new years eve. Nachos were superb, a real kick to the chilli vodka salsa.

Payed £80 for bottomless brunch for my partners birthday (£10 added fee for the PS martinis and perfect serves) was definitely worth the upgrade if you wanted more of a variety as personally we didn’t think there was much options for cocktails or drinks in the normal brunch menu. We really enjoyed the night the male and female serving us were very attentive and didn’t have to flag them down for a drink which was lovely. After an hour or so more staff turned up for shift, some made us feel a bit uncomfortable as we asked questions about the shots (we weren’t aware it was the companies own blend) as we fell in love with the Mr Whippy shot but they just kind of laughed and shrugged their shoulders. All in all I think I’d come back but wouldn’t go for the brunch again. Some of the cocktails we received weren’t made properly as they were missing garnish and shots that come with them, which isn’t the best when your paying that much for brunch. Food was okay. But just wanted to say a special thanks to the younger man who was serving us he was thoroughly genuine and lovely. Don’t think I would return for brunch but maybe just for some of the beautiful cocktails on the menu
