The Theatre Cafe in City of London, Westminster

Table booked for next weekend. Just went into the website and found out that it is CLOSED for 3 months. Customer service????? No Phone call/email informing me of this closure.

The staff are all incredibly talented . Would recommend to anyone with a love of theatre . Service was good and the atmosphere was fab .

We didn’t know this place existed. It was fabulous. We loved it.Not dissimilar to Ellen’s stardust diner in NYC but much better and not cheesy😄 Great staff, great singing, great food, great atmosphere. Its a big thumbs up from us👍👍

We hadn’t booked and so went in on the off chance there was space and we weren’t disappointed. The staff there were so very helpful. The host was lovely (couldn’t remember her name) and gave us a couple of choices, made sure we were seated comfortably and introduced us to our waitress. Alison was then amazing in her customer service. She regularly checked in on me and my daughter, making sure we were ok. The food we had came fairly quickly and was absolutely delicious. Very filling and not too expensive at all. The staff we very talented, extremely friendly and we had thoroughly wonderful visit. Highly recommended

Second visit and MOUSE RAN ACROSS FLOOR!!!! They didn’t even apologise to us…. Look closely and it’s grim. Down by the bat area. Dirty. Sorry but I won’t return!!!

After seeing this online my mum and I were very excited about dining here, for the food and the entertainment factor. However, we wish we had gone elsewhere. Yes, the diner is different and design was fantastic but that is about it for the positives we encountered. I know that this is based on the staff singing and entertaining, however, I think they sometimes forgot that they are also supposed to be servers as service was very poor and at times we saw staff making comments/looks to each other about customers (especially those coming in to check if there is any availability). I know they were busy but a bit of kindness goes a long way instead of making comments to each other about people wanting to come into your restaurant. Food was very basic and the burger my mum ordered was unfortunately raw and therefore she couldn’t eat it. Although, we couldn’t send it back until we received our bill because nobody came or looked near us after we received our food. So, I ended up giving her 1 (of my 3) chicken strips that I got as part of the chicken burger I had ordered. We did get it taken off the bill (after the server took it to a few different staff members to comment on how we said it was raw - he did come back to agree with us though) but with no apology or any other gesture. The staff are fantastic singers (and I am sure they will all do well in terms of theatre) but it is very loud so just keep that in mind if you’re looking to have a conversation with whoever you have came with. If you’re looking the experience, I would suggest just going for a drink to get that experience rather than going for food.

A restaurant themed around musicals, with really fun decor. Best of all the serving staff perform songs from various musicals, and you can leave a request for your favourite song. The food is basic diner fare, burgers etc. The real attraction is the lovely sense of a different, highly enjoyable experience. Close to Theatreland, so perfect before or after a show.

Wonderful cake, great entertainment and friendly staff. My girlfriend's favourite cafe and we visit every time we go to London!

Dropped in on a Thursday evening for dinner. Told before we were seated they couldn't do burgers due to a cooker issue. We stayed ordered drinks and chicken dishes and were thoroughly entertained by the staff. What great talent singing numerous songs from various musicals. Unfortunately it wasn't overly busy for more people to enjoy the show. Food was good despite the lack of red meat and reasonably priced considering the location.

Came here with a friend as it’s a place very close to her heart. On her suggestion I had the pizza and a milkshake. Pizza was exactly like the sort you would get in school except round not square. The milkshake was tasty, but it was like every milkshake I have ever had, but at £7.50. We were there on Sunday afternoon so it was dead, only a few people in. Apparently, before/after a show is when it gets busy and the atmosphere livens up so I don’t feel I can give a fair judgement except on the food. For 20 quid on a pizza and milkshake, there are umpteen places around there which do a much better food offering at the same price or cheaper.

Unfortunately, this went from being my favourite place to the one I avoid at all costs. There is a severe problem of hygiene at this venue. Tables and toilets aren't properly sanitised, and the floor is sticky even on a slow, quiet day. The worst of all is their rodent problem, which doesn't seem to concern them. On two separate occasions, I visited the café and was met with not-super-friendly staff but overly active mice keen to get on stage. On the first one, my friend and I pointed this out to the staff/manager. They didn't do anything about it, brushed it off and ignored our concerns. We received no apologies, and it became so bad that we couldn't finish our drinks and just ended up leaving. The second one, the mice problem, was worse as there were more of them running back and forth from the kitchen to the stage, and no one batted an eye nor seemed to care. I'm not sure how they can still keep their license to serve food...It's really a shame. I do hope they get a handle on this!

Fabulous little cafe. The decor is amazing for theatre fans and the constant show tunes playing was wonderful. I had a decaf oat milk latte and it was the best I have had in London, including the big coffee shops. My daughter had the chocolate milkshake named after Bruce Bigtrotter from Matilda I keeping with the theme, which was huge and looked fabulous. A must go for musical fans.

Having been turned away from Prezzo which was heaving and had a 20 minute wait for a table, a colleague found this little gem. All I had was a toastie as I was going to see a show later and wanted to do a bit of shopping and see the sights before. Service was quick, food was lovely and the staff were friendly and accomodating. Fantastic decor and very reasonable prices, especially for London. It's also in a brilliant location, not far from the London Coliseum, Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square. Would definitely visit again. I was only there about 15 mins in total, but it certainly left an imression as so many places in London are a rip off, wheras this was the total opposite.

Paid a quick visit with a few hours to burn in London. Food was decent- ham & cheese toasties. Drinks were excellent - hot chocolates. Chilled out atmosphere with the occasional 'open mic' musical theatre performance - fantastic.

Amazing little Cafe, stumbled across and went in as it was my daughters birthday. The staff were amazing and the vibe was fab. They even played Happy Birthday for her and brought her a small cake which she said was delicious. They really made her day. Thank you

Great concept walked into the restaurant and noted the fab atmosphere so was excited to be seated . We were then taken to our table downstairs… no other diners… cold due to air conditioning. We then asked your manager Mcaulay to be moved explaining we had travelled from Scotland to celebrate my 60th birthday. He wouldn’t budge even although there were free tables upstairs. They were prepared to let us walk out but reluctantly we took a table downstairs and it did fill up with other diners. The singers did come downstairs but not for long and there was absolutely no atmosphere. The experience we had hoped for didn’t happen. Food was great.. staff were eager. Some nice talent there. This place is quite small upstairs but looks very cool and has a nice atmosphere when you walk in. When we arrived we were ushered to a table downstairs & reassured that half the singing takes place upstairs & downstairs, this was not true! Downstairs is dark & lacks any atmosphere. We got about a third of the songs if even, mostly the last verse and the singers would run back upstairs to finish the song. Very very disappointing, could have been a soundtrack on instead of live singing. Our server, Elliott was very friendly. The singers were fantastic we would have liked to experience more of it! The food was nice. Based on our experience I would only return if I could book a table upstairs!

We visited mid week and although they were short of some items on the menu, the staff were lovely, apologetic and sorted us out with some great alternatives. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staging, they even accommodated my niece asking to sign when they were very busy with the lunch rush. Lucky to have these great staff, look after them!

The place and interior is supercool. However, the live music is good, but so extremely loud that it hurts and you struggle to hear the people you’re sitting with. It was uncomfortable. The food is also below average which made the experience not really worth it.

Rip off. Nice enough surroundings but no singing. Staff not particularly friendly. Food was a rip off. Hotdog was £8. Can get same in ikea for 60p! Kids didnt finish £12 pizza because it didnt taste nice.
