Very attentive staff, very clean and comfortable restaurant, great selection of regional and traditional dishes on the menu. Good value for money. Well done

Myself and a colleague had been based in Waterloo whilst away on a business trip, we both enjoy an Indian meal and after walking passed The Thames Indian restaurant and seeing that they was proudly displaying that they was an award winning establishment, we both thought we had dropped on a gem. Once we sat down the menu was very dated and looked like it had not been refreshed for some years, then we noticed the restaurant had won its award in 2011 so we both thought that things may not have changed since their recent award winning success. I ordered a pint of Cobra and my friend requested a cider, the waiter abruptly advised cider was ‘no’ so he opted for a Diet Coke, this arrived flat and lifeless and had clearly been poured from a bottle that was also, like the menus, passed the sell by date. I’d like to tell that my Cobra had more life, but other than resembling the colour of lager it wasn’t much to get excited about. The poppadums and dips arrived and we thought maybe we had been to quick to judge as they were definitely a bit more like what we are used to from such an establishment, not the most difficult dish to master, granted - but at this point we was looking for positives. The staff were fairly attentive and visible when needed, the one waiter was moving around at such a pace he arrived at our table airborne at one point after tripping up the top step whilst carrying some plates and cutlery, we checked he was ok but it was difficult not to get the vibe of an Indian version of Faulty Towers. The main dishes arrived and sadly, my lamb rogan josh and my friends chicken jalfrezi looked like they had come out of the same pot, we just about determined who’s was who’s by the chunks of meat. Disappointed to say that they both had very little flavour and taste, possibly the worst curry I have had whilst dining in an Indian restaurant. The atmosphere was also a bit strange, the music was a gentle recurring tune on repeat, it sounded like an iPhone alarm and it just went round and round and round, after a while I did finally fall back to sleep. As far as value goes, I’d have to say it wasn’t great and I’m pleased that I’ll be claiming my expenses through the company. My advice is read fellow diners reviews before being charmed by the window display.

Avoid this place if you are looking for a decent reasonably priced tasty lunchtime curry. Grim. It says something when the only menu items you'd have again are the poppadums and green mint dip. Really bot sure how two sheek kebabs and a chicken jalfrezi can be so bland. We arrived at 1.30pm to be told the kitchen is shutting so order quickly and starters and mains will be served together. Heres a suggestion. Dont advertise you are open at lunchtimes when youre not able to cope. The foods expensive but as I wasnt paying I feel a bit churlish complaining about this. Suffice to sat that all 3 of us were disappointed and wont return. Arrogant unfriendly waiter. This place doesnt deserve more customers.

It was the first time I have booked an Indian food restaurant for my colleagues and everything went very well. The service, the food, the accommodation to diverse dietary requirements such as allergies... All fantastic. Next time I will go with some friends. The location is nothing but ideal.

Völlig teilnahmsloses Personal ohne irgend eine Gefühlsregung. Nett eingerichtetes Restaurant - leider ohne indisches Flair. Die Gerichte waren durchschnittlich, dafür nicht teuer. Vielleicht lieber woanders Essen gehen.

We happen-chanced upon The Thames after wandering around London for hours while on holiday. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff were attentive and friendly. When I described the level of spiciness that I preferred, I was recommended to try the chicken noorjahani (a sweet and spicy dish). It was fabulous! There were 7 of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. I'd highly recommend this place.

Easily takes the title of worst of ‘worst curry’ I’ve had. Low quality fare and totally tasteless. Everything came out the same ‘beige’ colour and dry. Staff could do with attending ‘charm school’, not once did they smile or crack their sullen faces. I ordered one of their ‘specials’, was especially bad. Did complain but got no where. Was tempted to get it bagged up and take home for the foxes but feared the RSPCA would lodge a case of animal cruelty at me. Revolting and inedible soo much waste. Best bit was the very ‘low grade’ chocolate at the end. So bad, it’s almost funny. Avoid.

Nice food, good service, pleasant ambience. Felt a bit rushed by staff who wanted to take away our plates before we were ready.

We visited for dinner, it was my first time here. The food we ordered was all really good! It was all hot (despite the tandoori chicken not coming on a sizzle plate). The tandoori sea bass was a very reasonable price considering it was a whole fish. The restaurant is a convenient location for Waterloo station. The service was a bit odd. It took us a long time and asking multiple people before we got any tap water. Eventually we got a jug for the table but then one of the waiters decided to take it and use it to top up another table's glasses! That was quite funny. I would probably return here though for the food and convenience factor.

I enjoyed the food but it became a rather uncomfortable meal because our waiter hovered around the table and was leaning in and removing plates while we were still eating. I had to protect some dishes were not empty, but I was not vigilant enough to prevent an unfinished drink being whisked away.

Friendly prompt efficient attentive customer service, cosy warm atmosphere, delicious food, reasonable prices. I highly recommend this restaurant, I'll come back here soon

This is a small restaurant and ideally they like a quick turn around. I ordered sea bass and they told me it would be 40 minutes. They clearly wanted me to order something that would be quicker. However, when it came it was delicious, a whole sea bass with delicate spicing. My companions had curries in bowls that looked slightly less generous. There are lots of different rice dishes to go with it - paella, lemon, vegetable and others. Desserts are commercial ice creams of various sorts. Recommended for a fast meal before going on somewhere not really a restaurant not spend a whole evening although that is what we did and it was fine.

A rather narrow dining area under the rail bridge at Waterloo Road. Had a good meal with excellent food and drink. Would return but felt we should have gone earlier as we seemed to be hustled out at the end.

The grade required just about says it all - shame really because the food was better than average - personally I found the staff distant and unfriendly. It's the kind of place where you ask a simple question but can't understand the answer. I suppose the prices were okay for London.

As a family group of 7 we were a little concerned at being 15 minutes late for our booking, however we still received a warm welcome. One of our group is vegan and the Manager was extremely helpful with knowledgeable menu suggestions, thank you it was really appreciated. Tuvimos que esperar bastante tiempo para que se tomara el pedido de comida, y como no comemos mucha comida india, el camarero, creo que era el gerente, se tomó el tiempo para ayudarnos a decidir las opciones que teníamos. prácticamente hecho, así que respondí las preguntas que teníamos. Pedimos el Chicken Tikka y el Tikka Mixed Grill para tener una muestra básica. La comida llegó bastante rápido y en mi opinión fue muy buena con la cantidad correcta de especias, no demasiado caliente en mi caso. Una vez más, no hay ningún experto en comida india, pero cumplió con mis expectativas. Amigos que conozco recomendaron otros lugares en la ciudad, pero no tenía ganas de saltar en un Uber o el metro para cruzar la ciudad, el Támesis estaba a poca distancia, así que estaba bien. Volvería otra vez y probar otros platos solo para probar la variedad.

Really awful food. As an Indian, I was frankly appalled at the dishes served. The excessive use of onions, the 'creamy' looking curries and the terrible taste of chicken (fresh???)...and to make it worse, a hefty bill! Also very crammed space! Never again!

Guys - we had to be moved, which you managed well, and great food (despite the fact that you wouldn’t mix meat - which is unusual). The fact you wouldn’t take Apple Pay was a bit weird!! What century are you living in!!!

Queríamos un poco de comida india rápida y esto estaba cerca de nuestro hotel en el South Bank. Es pequeño pero pintoresco. Nos sirvieron rápidamente lo que queríamos. Los popadums eran muy crujientes y ligeros. Realmente nos gustaron. El pollo Tika Masala era un poco más dulce de lo que normalmente nos gusta, pero el pollo estaba tierno. Handy location for average Indian food, if one wish to experience extremely rude Indian hospitality. I would not go back.

Tiny venue and as a solo diner was a bit awkward to be jammed in right next to a family enjoying their dinner. Food was great though, I asked for extra chilli and the staff were accommodating.

We visited The Thames primarily for its convenient location across the road from Waterloo station - having attended a show at the National Theatre during the afternoon.

We should have walked out upon arrival. There was no welcome, staff seem put out when we said we had booked a table, they never asked for a name or details. The place wasn't busy at the time but all the tables are so close together. After being seated we were offered the menu and asked what drinks we would like. The beer was ok, the pint of cola was warm and flat, yet they charged almost £5 for that. Poppadoms and dips were good, very nice pickle dip. Starter of paneer was burnt on the outside, tikka achari starter was like rubber and flavourless. Side salad was brown. Ordered Naga chicken as a main, came like a soup. Wasn't spicy at all, tasted of tomato soup with a fee chunks of rubbery chicken thrown in, and I was cold. Staff all the time whisking plates away whilst you're still eating. No customer service, tables weren't strong enough to put you're elbows on. Wouldn't recommend at all.

We reserved a table as we were a large group of people. They had absolutely no regard for our booking having filled up the restaurant and had no space for us or the group waiting ahead of us who had also booked.

Least sounding Indian restaurant I've ever been to and although we had the seat by the door it didn't affect our meal. Restaurant was packed given it was a rugby international evening and that was the main reason for booking being so close to Waterloo station. Food was delivered quick and hot all as expected. Nothing negative to report. Perfect for what we needed. Will definitely return.

Good food but staff were quite rude. we also had to use the same cutlery which we used for our starter for our main. They literally took them off the dirty plate back on to the table.

This is a real hidden gem. Really great curry, great menu & great service. Very reasonably priced & the food is very authentic. Would definitely come again. My friend I came with is Indian, and they loved it.

We haven coming to The Thames Indian Restaurant at Waterloo for some years now.

Booked a table for 7, only enough seats for 6. Bad start. Two hour wait for the food and dreadful service. When curry arrived (ordered chicken dansak) it was a case of hunt the chicken. Dreadful. This is the worse.indian restaurant I have been to. Go elsewhere.

We were due at the National Theatre for a 7.30 performance and wanted a quick but nice meal before - we struck just the right place. The food was served promptly, the staff were welcoming efficient and polite and we were fed and out again within about 35 mins of arrival. We have eaten much cheaper curries but not in such a central location.

Went there on a Friday evening with 3 friends from Spain. The waiter was really rude, we got the impression that he jus5 could not be bothered. The food was nice though but because of the service I wont go back again.

We were pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. So close to Waterloo it could have just gone through the motions, but the service was excellent and attentive, the food was particularly good - none of this cook a sauce and throw some cooked meat in it, and the wine was acceptable and not too expensive. Tap water was brought promptly on request.

Being near Waterloo Station and the London Eye, this was a good meeting place for us travellers (from Aust and U.S.) to get together. It is small, so we were lucky to get a table without booking, but we were glad we did. Damn good curries and just the best garlic naan served hot and promptly by very helpful and attentive staff. Like most curry restaurants, bigger tables would have been appreciated to fit our proliferation of share dishes and drinks. But with upholstered chairs, booth seating, etc - The Thames is very comfortable and clean. It is a lovely, warm, intimate place to be on cool London evenings. Highly recommended!

This is very handy for Waterloo station and had a decent menu of interesting and spicy dishes. My main dish of lamb shank was tasty, the pasanda was less impressive but poertions of both were good. Space s a bit limited and I felt a bit wedged in but would definitely go back.

Three of us went to dinner at The Thames. It's fairly handily located to the London Eye - an easy ~10 minute walk.

I work with a charity that feeds the homless that feeds the homless on a Thursday evening nearly outside this restaurant. Well this evening we ran out of hot water due to high demand. Well this was nothing for this restaurant who supplied us with a lot of hot water. WHAT A GREAT BUSINESSMAN A CHARITABLE PERSON MR SHAHAB KHAN.

Authentic indian food with many options for vegetarian as well. Staff is friendly and its near to station. Food taste is nice and price is also fine compared to other restaurants.

Restaurant was very busy. Waited 5 mins for table. Unfortunately was seated next to a table of extremely drunk men, one especially who was asked but the Manager to tone down his language as there were females present. This was the only thing that put a slight dampener on the meal. The food was really tasty. I went for one of the specials a chicken lasani and butternut squash side. My partner went for his usual chicken jalfrezi ! He said next time would go for a special as was so tasty. Waiters were very efficient , every table was taken, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal, will deffo visit again.

Un montón de platos que no habían oído hablar de en el menú, así como el casco antiguo. warhorses Es posible que pedir estas especialidades en vez de como el warhorses pollo Korma es la clave para una mejor comida. Pedimos dos platos de cordero que tanto eran sabrosas chuletas de comenzar con lonchas de cordero estilo seguido de Hyderabad. Con tres cervezas cada uno la factura era de 72 libras, lo que me pareció razonable. Mi compañero era un regular en este restaurante y me gustaría volver cuando en esta parte de Londres.

Recomendado por nuestro conserje, terminamos en este restaurante sabiendo este es un rango indien, así que esperaba una buena comida y una cálida bienvenida, pero nada especial. So. . Puedes olvidar la acogida. . . era una lucha a la orden. La comida era buena pero no cálido. tirado literalmente. It's a decent Bangladeshi masquerade of Indian cuisine, visited by me due to convenient location, near the big wheel. The waiter "Mo" was welcoming, although the other was a bit brusque. Ok for naan and aloo gobhi!

Este lugar es una joya! El personal siempre contento y la comida es excelente. Los peces Bhuna es mi favorito! Siempre una comida deliciosa y el personal es muy informativo sobre sus platos. Si te apetece un curry, este tiene que ser uno de los mejores de Londres. Nos visita casi cada vez que vaya a Londres.

Les quantités sont copieuses, et savoureuses, pour un raison assez raisonnable! L'endroit est sympa, et le service est top !

Popped in for a late night curry and weren't disappointed. Friendly helpful staff and excellent food. Buzzing atmosphere too. We will definitely return when next in London. Thank you very much guys.

Dropped in for a Friday night dinner with friends. Perfectly adequate curry house. Nothing special, but clean & friendly and service was very good. No surprises on the menu. Would recommend.

We went to this restaurant, having booked quite late in the day. Our table was ready and we were pleased we had booked as they were very busy. The food was first class, I had the Adrak Gosth which was superb and my husband had Hydrabad Bhuna Gosth which was also delicious. The naan bread was soft and the wine was excellent. Service was very good for such a busy restaurant. The only downside was lack of atmosphere. If you want a really good Indian meal and are near Waterloo I would recommend The Thames

Close to the station, this small restruant served us a lovely curry, the waiting staff were very attentive. Can recommend.

I ordered the chicken pasanda and pilau rice which were very good, full of flavour. I found the onion bhajis and naan bread to be average at best. The service was good, decor nice.

Not a lot to say really, it was all very average. I had the Lamb naga which wasn’t great, it was bitter. All in all very average and I wouldn’t go back.

We have just left this Indian first of all the curries came I noticed that the chicken was very flat and long not chunky like every other Indian I have been to. Reminded me of frozen chicken pieces.

This restaurant is situated 3 minutes walk from Waterloo Station. It serves authentic Indian cuisine. I had the Adrak Gosth which was delicious. It was finely sliced lamb cooked with ginger and chillies. The tables are slightly close together but the food makes up for this. Defiantly worth a visit when you are in the Waterloo area.

The curry was good here but not the staff I thought the waiter was not your usual Indian friendly quality. The curry was awesome all of us thought the same the resturant is very small not a lot of space but food made up for it after a long day at the office.
