The Thai House in Plymouth

Delicious Thai cuisine served in a quiet, cosy setting. The food was great and hit the combination of frash yet flavourful that you expect from Thai cuisine. We went for a noodle salad, thai red curry, and some rice, and all of it was great. They also had some homemade Thai Iced Tea, which was the perfect finishing touch to make the place stand out. The service was really quick, prices very reasonable, and I would want to come back again next time I am in Plymouth. This was one of the best Thai places I've been to in the UK so far.

Delicious food, good portions (all served in good time too), friendly attentive staff and a great atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend The Thai House, and we'll be coming again soon!

Really enjoyed our meal here. Great ambience. Took plenty of notice regarding allergies before ordering. Food was proper Thai with plenty of options including how spicy/hot you wanted the food. Nice drink options as well. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Defo go back

Had my daughters baby shower in the thai house in the afternoon they were amazing nothing was to much trouble had professional come and dress venue and the owner came to open up I can't thank you enough The food was amazing and plenty of it we did a buffet everyone said how much they enjoyed the food and the taste was wonderful would highly recommend this restaurant. It looked amazing the decor is beautiful. Staff was wonderful polite and nothing was any trouble thank you so much will definitely be eating here again 😊 😀

Fantastic place had a private venue a baby shower and they couldn't do enough for us opened so we could hold it there Food was amazing and plenty of it and choice we went for a buffet menu Staff where polite and couldn't do enough place was lovely and clean can't fault it will be back for a meal along with alot of guest who really enjoy your food and the ambience Thank you

Lovely evening , good food , attentive staff

Average food, and pretty expensive. Don’t get me wrong, the Thai green veggie curry is good, but it was quite a small portion for the price (nearly £10 for a takeaway with cling film wrapped over it…). The tofu satay sticks were also incredibly expensive, nearly £6 for 3 tofu sticks that were stodgy and not crispy. The same for the spring rolls, these were inedible - nearly £6 for 3 spring rolls?? Not sure how you can get veggie spring rolls wrong! The Thai veggie crackers were nice and so was the coconut rice. The spicy mixed vegetables were not spicy at all, tasted more Chinese like vegetables in a black bean sauce. All in all would not order again, food mediocre and certainly not worth £40 for 2 mains, 2 sides and some rice.

i ordered spicy mushroom soup and got a creamy sour soup, couldn't eat it, there was even an option to choose mild medium or hot, i chose hot, was no spicy hot atall. also it came with coconut rice which was soo starchy and overcooked, all stuck together, the chicken satay was nice but disappointing as couldn't enjoy my whole meal.

just eat app was telling me the restaurant was still cooking and the delivery driver was ringing me need to.be up to speed

Strange but the papaya salad only tasted of salt, a lot of salt and no chilli. And the Pad Thai tasted like it had no sugar or sweetness. Is something really wrong with my taste buds or perhaps there was a mix up?

Food came really well packaged and hot. It was all delicious and would definitely recommend for a Thai in plymouth.

By far the worst Thai I’ve ever had , warmed up from the day before , £60 for crap , defo won’t be going back !

It is ok. It is a bit overpriced for what you get. Service is good if you are served by the Thai waitress, who makes the experience a bit more authentic. I suppose you fill yourself if you eat here, so it’s ok based on the fact that you do not really get a much better dining experience these days, particularly in Plymouth. So, it’s ok, if you can’t be bothered cooking your own food for once and want to eat something else, it’s ok.

Loved it. The waiters were wonderful. The food was great. Larger choice than normal for a Thai restaurant - one is not limited to red yellow and green curry...

Wonderful meal here on Friday evening. We had a late dinner and thankfully they were able to accommodate us. Our server was very helpful and quick. I had a Massaman curry with Pineapple rice which was excellent. The flavour was incredible and the portion was huge. Knocked a star off the atmosphere because it was a little quiet and the music was too relaxing (although that's not a bad thing). Would happily recommend to all.

The portion sizes are now so small but the price is so expensive, this will be the last order we place, the chicken satay was three of the mini fillets you get from a supermarket for over £8 !! The pancake rolls again three very thin and for £6 a joke. I wouldn’t recommend on this alone

Our server was lovely and he showed us what they could do vegan and gluten free which remarkably was most of the menu. The food was really good and the papaya salad on the specials especially!

The general service and attitude of the waitress was good, but two things were missed. I asked if the pad see ew noodles were made with wide rice noodles (which is typically how it is made), and she said yes. When the dish came out, it was with the thin rice noodles. And our juice had an insect in it. She offered to replace it, but we were already packing up and getting ready to pay the bill. At that point, she should've just taken it off the bill.

Wow that was lovely. Ordered 5 menu items and every mouthful of each item was delicious. The ordering process was simple and delivery time accurate and trackable on map. I have not rated atmosphere as I had my food delivered. Would I order from them again = yes I would!

Nearly received Torbay for a Plymouth company

it states that the mixed starters are served with a sweet chilli dip and cucumber salad , this is rhe second time in recent weeks this has happened, we call the restaurant and all they say is we will give you a discount on your extra meals

This food is very stinky it smells like frocking poo from a cow,I don’t recommend having it

Great portion size, nice and hot. Not too much veg.

The food was ok. Shame that whoever’s packaged it has done so so poorly that the lids on two of the items were not on properly and the food has spilt all over the inside of the carrier bag making it uneatable. The delivery driver just told us to “contact the shop” and disappeared. We’ve still been charged the full amount with only half of the food arriving in a consumable condition.

Absolutely delicious! I ordered the pineapple red curry (veg) with white rice - such a treat to my taste buds! Big fan of the Thai curries. The waiter was kind enough to patiently explain the items on the menu to me where I was a bit confused. Excellent service. Pleasant ambience. Very clean and tidy. They have good vegetarian options, which otherwise is a challenge for me to find at some places.

I really not sure what has happened to this place over the last year or so and can’t quite put my finger on it. Whether it’s under new management I do not know, but most definitely not as slick service and quality wise as it used to be. I still go occasionally but has lost its edge which is a shame

Quite a small restaurant just off Plymouth Town centre. The service was excellent, and the food is very authentic Thai. I had the mixed seafood Thom Yum to start, and it was flavourful with an excellent balance of hot and sour. My main was the beef short rib massaman curry, deliciously rich flavour, spicy without being overpowering, and beef so tender you could cut it by looking at it! Absolutely first-class restaurant and I will definitely be back again soon. Very highly recommended. P.s. the only proper Satay in Plymouth... you must try it, thank me later!

shells still on muscles and gritty no scallops and prawns still had shells on and had not been gutlined...overall paid 40 odd quid and the only thing relatively decent was the rice

Food was delivered 25 minutes after requested time. i phoned the restaurant at 1945hrs asking where my meal was, only be be told they were still awaiting Just Eat to collect it from them. Can I have a refund for the delivery charge

It's been a year since I last visited this Thai restaurant, which used to be good. The menu seems to have changed and is different, kind of simplified but not as good. It's certainly a lot more expensive than it used to be with less food on your plate. For a Friday night, there was hardly anyone in, suggesting others think similar to my thoughts now. Service and food were mediocre. it's just not the place it used to be, and next time I visit Plymouth, I'll go somewhere else. We thought the mixed starter, in particular, was expensive and poor value. Looking at the list of recommendations, I can't find anything in particular that stands out anymore, which is sad.

Lovely food and very helpful staff. My daughter is vegan with some allergies and they were very good and telling her what was in the various dishes.

Lovely atmosphere, attentive happy staff, lovely authentic food. Tables facing the barbican so can see the hassle n bussle outside whilst enjoying a romantic meal.

Ordered. Pad Thai. The taste was over seasoned. Had no individual flavours. Have eaten this in many places . Not authentic at all For a Thai Restaurant Will not go back. Suphas is the place to go . Never fails to disappoint

Lovely food, portions could’ve been a tad larger for the price.

Tonight's experience was terrible. The curry was very salty and had no sauce. It was a very dry curry. I had to return the curry and wait 20 minutes for it to be ready. Their stir-fry veg and pineapple rice were “stone cold”. No wonder we were the only customers in there.

Popped in for a meal, after seeing a matinee at the theatre yesterday. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The two ladies, front of house were excellent in taking our orders and delivering our food. The food was beautiful, full of flavour, light and fresh. We will definitely be returning. Delivery said 25-40 mins when ordering, after order it was delayed 3 times and we waited over an hour and half to find out the order hadn’t even started to be prepared by the restaurant. Beans on toast tonight..

Came to visit Plymouth from the US and went to The Thai House for dinner one night. This restaurant is a gem! Delicious, spicy food and friendly service. Exactly what we needed on a cold, rainy night. Highly recommend the green curry with mixed seafood and the Basil Stir Fry. Absolutely delicious!

Delicious Green Curry and Pad Thai 😋

Order was incorrectly made. One was meant to be spicy and the other mild but these were made the wrong way round. Too mild was at least edible but the other was too spicy.

When fish and chips diet starts to get too repetitive, head to Thai food! Try a spicy stir-fried pork basil with rice topped with a fried egg, and there you’ll have a moment of satisfying Thai taste. The portion is generous. I left the restaurant full and happy. Also props to the server lady! She’s fantastic

Good place for Thai food in Plymouth

I lived in London for 23 years and frequently went out and tried different thai places, this is still somehow easily the best thai food I've had, I had the Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Satay.

OK but not keen on the monkfish with skin on.

Eaten here a few time and always found the food to be good. This visit, the food was more tasty than normal. Presentation better, portion size better. Service was really good. Great job

We visited this restaurant whilst staying in Plymouth for the weekend, I can honestly say it was absolutely delicious- I had the red Thai curry, my husband and friends had the massaman with beef, and chicken, the food was absolutely perfect as was the excellent customer service - we all felt very looked after by lovely friendly staff and will definitely be back! Thank you all!

Ordered spring rolls, fried noodles & chicken pad thai. After about 40 minutes, had to ask what was the hold up? When it did eventually come, chicken was burnt and hard, noodles were chewy, par-boiled and salty. Servers never once asked if we were ok, or showed any interest in service. Poor all round.

Prawn Tom yum (hot) was as good as any I have tasted in Thailand. Penang chicken was really fresh and well presented. And Singha on draught!!! Great service front of house and great to see a Thai chef in the kitchen. The whole experience was fantastic!

Really authentic Thai meal in a friendly restaurant the Tom Yum soup was absolutely delicious I will certainly visit again when I’m next in Plymouth also very good value for money so definitely worth a visit

We ate Panang Curry and Red Curry with fish. Both dishes were amazing! We went again the next evening as the taste of the dishes was so good. We can highly recommend this thai restaurant! It is very authentic and the food tastes heavenly. Wir waren schon in einigen Thai restaurants und haben auch schon Urlaub in Thailand gemacht! Das Essen hier war unglaublich lecker und sehr authentisch! Wir können es jedem empfehlen dort essen zu gehen! Die Gerichte sind außergewöhnlich und vor allem die Fischgerichte haben uns begeistert!

It takes a lot for me to give a 5 star review because I like things to be very good. I have had a lot of take aways from this restaurant which have all been delicious however the dining experience was even better as you get to see the beautiful presentation of the food on a plate and perhaps order dishes which you wouldn’t have on a take away. As an example we had the seafood platter which was not only cooked to perfection but with a delicious sauce you could dip perfectly cooked scallops, king prawns and mussels into! The deconstructed monkfish patang curry was an utter delight ….beautiful perfect fillets of monkfish wrapped in a banana leaf parcel of deliciousness with the pouring sauce next to it. It’s nice to experience a dish presented slightly different to what we would expect. The vegetarian starter platter was also fabulous, I am not vegetarian but one of my fellow diners was, mushroom skewers with a peanut sauce and homemade vegetable spring rolls….I can’t wait to order this myself! Nice champagne served in a good glass….so important! Lovely smiley staff who were kind and you could tell genuinely wanted to look after you! Every table was full with a nice atmosphere. Cant wait to go back.

Absolutely gorgeous Thai food. Very authentic and extremely tasty. The dishes are traditional but with modern twists using good produce and flavours. The staff and chef made us feel very welcome thank you for a fabulous evening and wonderfully delicious Thai food!

Delicious food, the satay tofu was lovely and there was just the right amount of heat in the chilli and basil tofu.

What a beautiful welcome to Plymouth (despite the heavy rain). The food was mouthwateringly good. The salmon pangang curry made the tastebuds dance as did the homemade spring rolls and cake. The staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable about their food and did not rush the meal. Thank goodness the service charge was not automatic. They deserved (and received) more than the standard 12 percent. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Unfortunately the spring rolls in both the extra order of rolls and the one in the mixed starters were off. When cut /bitten into, they smelt awful & had to be spat out. We cut into them all to see if it was just one but it was all of them. Also think we were given the wrong curry. it was very nice, but not the one we had ordered.
