Ok so would I think of Exeter Street as a place to go to look for an amazing restaurant, yet here it is. Boon Tong Dha is tiny and can only cater for 16 people max. It is well worth going to though. The food is authentic, plenty of it and very reasonably priced. We have already been there 3 times this month!!! There is an extensive menu, starters such as crispy chicken wings and tempura veg are our favourites, mains the red Thai curry and Massaman curry are amazing along with lots of delicious stir fries. Chose how hot you want it but be careful if you ask for Thai Hot!!! There isn’t a bar so you need to bring your own chilled alcoholic drinks as they don’t have ice. They charge a tiny amount for corkage. We just love it.

Seven of us had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious. We all had something different and we were all happy. The staff were helpful and good humoured. Corkage was £2. Starters were under a £5. Main dishes under £10. We had a wonderful time. Many thanks to all those concerned. You should try it!

BEST thai place ever. Authentic thai food, Boon is the place we go every weekend to enjoy an amazing meal. We have been to thousand of other thai restaurants but we keep coming back to this one. Incredible!

First time in Boon Tong Dha service was lovely, nice to see chef and waitress at work behind counter. Food was amazing and the corn cakes are huge. Chicken green curry I had was one of the best I had in Plymouth. Price excellent a nice little clean restaurant will eat there again.

Ordered a take away as usual place had closed and changed hands. Ordered takeaway over the phone. When I went to collect I regretted it straight away looking at the dirty door with signs ‘ rolling’ half stuck and the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Behind the counter I could see dirty cloths, food spilling over the delivery pots onto the kitchen work surface. And it generally looked messy. There were only 2 staff the one that served me was polite and pleasant. When I got home to eat the food ( 5min drive) the chicken spring rolls were almost cold. The mains piping hot but the rice that it said was served with it was missing. My noodle meal was supposed to have a thick sauce and it was runny and the noodles were goopy. A great disappointment

Fantastic fried rice dishes, quick and friendly service, and amazingly cheap. We were staying nearby and got take out from here 3 nights in a row!

The first authentic spicy food place I ve been to in a long time. Thai spicy is really 🔥. Calamari is good as well.

Unfortunately the yellow curry was very very salty, so I didn't enjoy it. Its a shame because the reviews I read are excellent.

This wasn't just a great Thai food experience, it was an incredibly great dining experience overall. It is small, but has really nice decor that doesn't go over-the-top as many Asian restaurants do. There was only one table for four and the others are all small tables for couples, but the bigger table was available for me, my wife, and children. We were waited on by a cheerful, polite, absolutely charming young woman. The food was excellent. My kids, who like prawns and consider themselves prawn connoisseurs remarked that the prawns were so juicy and the best they'd ever had. My wife and I will return on our own for date night as the atmosphere in there is oh-so lovely, calm, and comfortable.

Just had a takeaway from this place, very disappointed! I had the Massaman curry and it looked like mushroom soup! Really odd colour and smell. Also had chicken satay for starter which had a nice flavour but was very dry. Wouldn’t order from here again.

Now Thai Thai. Same people same delicious dishes in renewed decor. A delightful Thai restaurant eat-in or take-away.. "Boon Tong Dha" hints at the mystic, supernatural or blessed character of this establishment. Simple no frills service, decor and tables. Very amiable service and not rushed. Seating for about 16 people. Popular and traditional menu options cooked by Thai national "Bute" or "Boote". (Please excuse incorrect spelling). Bute checked we were happy and comfortable even we we mixed up our orders. You can get most menu options in mild, hot or extra spicy. Possible also to BYO bottles. Other Non-alcoholic drink are available. Contrary to expectations there are no Dessert options. All in an inexpensive delight in Plymouth starry night economy. Thank you Bute and staff for a fine evening meal.

My husband and I had a rare evening away from the children and booked this place for a meal out. We had a wonderful time. There are only 4 tables in the restaurant and there was only one other party when we went. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to move the time of our booking and they were very accommodating. We hadn't realised that it is unlicensed and that you can bring your own alcohol for a small corkage charge. My husband went to the corner shop and bought us a bottle of wine so that was a nice bonus. I love Tom Kha soup and this one was one of the best I have eaten. We then had number 48 and 49 and they were both utterly delicious. The portions were big and we just couldn't finish our food even though it was so wonderful. The prices were incredibly reasonable. We will definitely be returning. 😊

What a find! We ate in (only four tables... very homely ambiance) and loved it. Being able to bring your own bottle in an amazing bonus. Tom Kha soup was one of the best and Khao Soi was one of the finest dishes I have ever had. Huge portions and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If I lived in Plymouth, I'd be back all the time.

Visiting Plymouth and searched online for a Thai Restauarant that delivers to the hotel I was staying in Tried Mr Wok but they were too too busy..Tried the Thai House but they only had a collection only service Ordered Prawn Pad Thia and Crispy Beef from Boon Tong Dha as the web site clearly stated authentic Thia food cooked fresh to order I didnt mind waiting 75 mins but when the food arrived in two flimsy cheap plastic bags I sort of sensed that things might not be what I expected The Prawn Pad Thai was absolutely tasteless...Bland...wet prawns and plain noodles and no where near anything I have ever tasted before and I am a Thai food junkie.. The Crispy Beef was inedible as the amount of salt was overwhelming and I could only manage one mouthful. I called and spoke to the cheery lady that took my order and she actually said to me that the owner told her top tell me that she cooks bland tasteless food for the western taste! I asked for a full refund and was refused as she told me that this is what they serve and its not supposed to taste spicy. Angry and hungry and absolutely disgusted with the owners attitude to a customer complaint... STAY AWAY

Fantastic Thai food! The Penang curry was a highlight but everything we ordered was good. Generous portions and lovely staff. One of those unassuming gems.

Some food was gone off so was taken back, owner poured it down the sink and refused money back but eventually refunded some back after slight abuse

Shocking! We recieved our food and called them immediately as the calamari had an awful smell which filled the room making us all feel sick and no longer wanting to eat our food as all of our dishes contained seafood! Also the rice I recieved came out of the container in 1 whole lump it was that congealed I could hold the hold tray of rice in my hand. When we spoke to the restaurant and gave them the chance to refund us they refused calling us liers which we then were told to bring the food to them which we did and the owner then decided to shout at us after us being nothing but polite! Avoid at all costs!

Not just the best Thai food in Plymouth but some of the best I’ve had in the U.K. Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior, the food here is out of this world tasty, and really good value for money. The owner is a complete sweetheart as well. Easily an instant favourite and highly recommended. It’s bring your own bottle by the way, so you won’t ever be disappointed by the drinks selection ;)

We ordered a few dishes for delivery. We were told it would be around an hour for delivery it took abound 1hr 45 . When it finally turned up, the portion was not of a decent size . It was greasy and watery . The chicken and beef was dry and chewy . The soup was that spicy I couldn’t eat it as it was burning my lips and tongue. My sons order was missing . I heard my partner read this out over the phone and the staff read it back so we are baffled . We called to advise that my sons dish and a rice didn’t turn up. He was told that it wasn’t ordered or paid for ! We payed around £35 for this meal . My partner and I didn’t eat much of ours and he had to take our son to McDonald’s and he ended up having another meal himself as he was still hungry ! Needless to say we are that disappointed that we won’t be ordering again.

I feel sorry for writing this as we had high expectations of this Thai. I cant fault the taste and heat of the dishes we had, but I was expecting some authentic Thai food. What we had was some greasy eggs noodles with frozen vegetable and not good meat. We had a Thai in paignton last week and that was proper authentic. Hopefully you can improve as your service was great, just the food let it down.

Great little resturant. Pick up only currently. Quick service ordered and picked up within 30 minutes. Park outside the resturant. Green Curry was excellent family loved it. Great portions well wrapped so it stays hot. Best Thai in Plymouth. Very good value. Pay around £10 a head.

Amazing food served here. We ordered a couple of dishes for takeaway and it was ready within 15 minutes and tasted incredible. Highly recommended.

We have ordered from here a few times now and every delivery has been exceptional. Good quality food and proper 'thai spicy' and always piping hot on delivery. The pad thai especially good as is the massaman curry. Highly recommended!

This is our favourite Thai restaurant in Plymouth, but seeing as we can't visit at the moment, we had a take away instead. They do home delivery for a small charge. The food was as good as ever, piping hot and delivered at the promised time. Really made our Saturday night. Thanks.

Have eaten there a few times in the past. Last night we had a home delivery. Food arrived within 5 minutes of our requested time. Food was good, still piping hot, and our red curry was "spicy" just as we asked for it. Well done to all the team!

First time I've ordered from boon tong dha as I usually order from Mr wok. But they were closed so ordered from here, and I have to say excellent very very tasty and loads of it. We had sweetcorn cakes and beef slices both very nice chicken satay again delicious, and chicken Pad Thai all very nice. Ordered same as we do fom Mr wok and I've got loads left over for same money. Will deffinatly be ordering from here again.... Can't recommend Boon Tong Dha enough.....

We love pad Thai and thought we would give this place a chance.It was so awful, greasy noodles with burnt egg, only 4 prawns and a small amount of spring onion and no peanuts!We also ordered fish cakes and prawn toast. Also swimming in fat.Such a shame, we will not be returning. The girl taking orders however was lovely.

Nice find Had lunch for 2, starters, main and soft drinks for £22. Authentic food. Very good stir fry. Intimate setting. Friendly and informative staff.

This food must have been cooked by students from college I believe the chef cannot possibly cook this bad as the reviews seem so much better Unfortunately the food was watery TastelessThe stir fry was in an overflowing sauce of blandness The red curry was yellow and watery The rice was worse than Mr bens ready cooked I just gave my dog the duck and it wouldn't even touch it The noodles were like a cheap Chinese dish Nothing was thai about this I been to Thailand 5 times and this has to be cooked by English students

Reading the reviews this place sounded great. However having travelled to Thailand many times this does not resemble Thai food in any aspect.All dishes were over cooked and swimming in bland sauce. The stir fry dishes which in Thailand are fairly dry dishes have the same amount of sauce as the a curry. Worst of all steamed rice is over cooked ! !I can only assume the chef is on holiday?

Read the great reviews and was looking forward to the food having not been able to get into suphas. It is small yes and basic but if the foods great who cares- however it wasn’t. The starters were bland : pork rolls, tasteless, fish cakes rubbery satay passable - mains even worse, out of 4 mains, the Phad Thai was about the only edible meal, though it didn’t seem fresh. All in all disappointing- will stick to Suphas or the B bar in future . Gave a generous 2 stars based on friendly staff and byo!

Small, unpretentious place with real Thai food cooked by real Thai people. Very reasonably priced, with most dishes coming with rich included. Reasonable size portions, but order more if you are a big eater. You can take your own wine or beer for a small corkage charge (£2).Really enjoyed our meal here as we love Thai food and this is one of the best places we've eaten at.

Run by the same friendly lady who also has a stall in the market, the food here is "proper" Thai. It's all freshly cooked to order by real Thai cooks. Fresh, zingy and spicy.Prices include rice and are very reasonable. The fact that you can take your own wine / beer for a modest corkage fee (£2) is also a plus.It's only a small place but seems to have lots of regulars, both eating in and for takeaways. Definitely a good sign. We'll be heading back there again soon.

Chicken Satay good. Penang curry tasty but no Bamboo shoots. Noddles with Duck bland and without doubt the most boring tasteless Pang Ti ever. King Prawn spring rolls, where was the Prawn? Mike Ford
