Beautiful interiors and the views from the terrace. Attentive service and delicious and nicely presented food, unfortunately, I'm unable to upload pictures for some reason.

Average service and food wasn't good. Calamari was tough, the rice overcooked and the fish and chips was way too greasy. The venue is beautiful though.

Been here a few times before we catch our trains. Love the cocktails and reasonably priced. Good choice of nibbles in the bar. We had salt and pepper squid and pepper hummus. Very good. Quite cosy space in the bar but not noisy. Very comfy.

This is the restaurant of the Clermont Charing Cross hotel, on the first floor. So it's a great location, literally right next door to Charing Cross station. We ate breakfast here each morning of our stay, and we ate dinner here one rainy evening. The restaurant is beautiful. The tables are close together, so you may not have the opportunity for a quiet conversation. Our food was very good. Service was slow--our server sometimes disappeared--but otherwise we had enjoyable meals here.

After reading all the good reviews we were looking forward to dine at Clermont hotel's restaurant. The service was mediocre from the begining however the food started on a good note. Both the Calamari and Falafel starters were delicious. Unfortunatelly the rest of the food didn't meet our expectations. The mains were absolutely tasteless, okay at best and with the lack of service that was all I could say when they asked how was it. Dessert were also just okay, nothing special. I wish we could have had that 5 star experience as everyone else. Maybe we went on the wrong day at the wrong time, but not worth a second try..

FYI this is situated within the beautiful Clermont Hotel, we didn't realise this at first ;) My friend and I had an impromptu girly afternoon out in London and we found this Afternoon tea experience purely by chance, we hadn't booked but the staff were lovely and accommodated us in the pretty conservatory area so we were very lucky. The Afternoon Tea with Prosscco was delightful and plentiful, with bite size treats so you managed to eat it all even the Scones (which at other venues we leave as no room!) We throughly enjoyed it here and will definitely pop back in the Summer for another treat! Thank you to everyone.

I am giving the restaurant two stars because the staff here are lovely. They're polite, welcoming, kind, friendly and actually engaged with us. However, I'd give the food half a star because the nicest thing I ate yesterday was mashed potatoes. My mother ordered her mash with no butter and it came with butter which meant that she couldn't eat it... I ate it instead because it was the nicest thing on the plate. The goujons were over cooked and the fish inside tasted frozen or just not fresh at all, very fishy. Just not at all good. I ordered the red mullet and it was literally the smallest plate of food ever plus again, the fish wasnt fresh. Not good. My cheesecake tasted like gelatin. NO FLAVOUR AT ALL. NONE. It was literally a wobblish firmish mess, Wetherspoons do a better cheesecake. Now, I understand that this was a groupon deal and we really did have a nice time with the staff and enjoyed our prosecco but the food gets half a star. I was quite embarrassed to be honest. I was embarrassed because I'd bought it as a treat to celebrate my mother and sisters for overcoming a hard family challenge and the food really was a let down. Thank god for alcohol. I would recommend the bar but NEVER the food. Chefs, you need to do better.

Priscilla y Konrad merecen una mención especial, ya que son particularmente acogedores para nosotros. We went to The Terrace Restaurant for a pre theatre meal and used a Travelzoo voucher We were very pleased with the wonderful food on offer. The two of us made different choices for starter, main courses and dessert and experienced delicious and varied the tastes for each dish with such exquisite and subtle flavours. The service was outstanding and the surroundings luxurious yet very hospitable.

Met up with friends in The Terrace Restaurant of the Amba Hotel. It’s in a very convenient position for travellers coming through the very busy station which is just next door. The Strand is always a busy thoroughfare and it’s a good meeting place with buses coming through frequently. The Foyer And corridors were nicely decorated but on arriving in the bar nexr to the Terrace restaurant it felt rather under dressed. There were Christmas trees and decorations but it felt. Bit open and not very warm..as we had just come in from the very cold street it didn’t feel very welcoming. The Table in a long narrow room over looking the Strand again had a good view not much else going for it. The staff seemed distracted ..I don’t know what by, there seemed to be a few young Waitreses around , none of them rushing to take our order, we had to call them over for everything. . Gin and Tomic was good and 2 glasses of wine picked from a not very good selection. We ordered the Chicken thighs stuffed with some filling, cream sauce, four thin slices of radish and that was it? The chicken round the outside of the five thin rounds on the plate was so thin and quite dry you would not have known what you were eating. The sauce was good but that was all. The Fish and Chips was Ok, 8 messed up peas, chunky chips in a basket were about the highlight of the lunch. Not very good at all! The prices were not reasonable for the quantity and quality of the food that was served. Ice creams were 3 ballsof 3 flavours and then Coffee..but that arrived nearly cold. It was clean and nice table cloths and napkins. Lots of nationalities in the staff but Very disappointing to say the least.. I was surprised because they have so much competition there you would have thought it would have been good. I shall not be rushing back..can do better I think?

We booking on-line for an early (6pm) supper. On arrival at the restaurant the greeting was very lukewarm and it took the waiter quite a while to locate our booking. We were then seated next to a table where a pensions advisor was discussing terms and conditions with his prospective clients. We asked to be moved as there were only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant. The restaurant lacked atmosphere; soft background music would have helped drown out the pensions advisor. The decor was very tired with mould/rot on the terrace windows. Considering the time of day and the cold weather, we were surprised to be bothered by small 'fruit flies' hovering around the table throughout the meal. The food was very disappointing : the chicken 'curry' dish had 5 pieces of chicken but lots of rice, popadoms and naan bread. My husband asked for his steak to be cooked medium/rare but it was more medium/well done and quite tough. He asked for English mustard and was presented with French's American mustard in a bottle with a hotel quality control sticker on the back which was 2 weeks out of date (26/10). 2 beers, 2 mains and a small glass of wine £73. Not a restaurant to recommend or return to.

Absolutely loved the chicken thigh stuffed with pistachio in a leek sauce it was delicious. Had chunky chips to go with it and they were really good. Restaurant has a lovely calm atmosphere. Eton Mess for dessert which I would not usually choose but was very good. Would highly recommend

We were in London to celebrate three big birthdays and popped in to the Amba to have some cocktails in the Terrace Bar. The lovely chap on the door was politeness itself and showed us to the Bar where two happy friendly ladies greeted us and ran through the cocktail menu. We picked three and chose some snacks (to line the tummies). the cocktails were superb and I can thoroughly recommend the Negroni, expertly prepared by Martinou. Probably the best Negroni I've ever had. As we finished our delicious snacks, Martinou brought us a plate of absolutley exquisite cakes as a present as it was our birthdays. They were gorgeous, and no sooner had we thanked her for that than she appeared back with the manager and a chocolate cake with a candle and happy birthday piped on the plate, and singing happy birthday. and thank you to the lovely people at the next table who joined the singing and kindly took photos of us blowing out the candle! We were already overwhelmed and thanked them profusely when a little box of truffles appeared for each of us. It truly made our day and it was so generous. the staff were lovely and it made our birthday treat even more special. I'm speechless with gratitude for their kindness . thank you againMore

We paid £25 per person for afternoon tea as part of a Hidden London tour. What a mistake. This place is badly organised and has poor quality food and drink. When I go to Betty's for afternoon tea I get proper loose leaf tea not teabags, I get clotted cream for my scones and we get actually edible cakes rather than the garish ones offered to us. I wish I had seen the reviews for the afternoon tea specifically rather than for the hotel (which seems good) as I wouldn't have booked. Avoid, and go to Fortnums.

Went here to eat only. Friendly nice staff. Great food and a glass of Prosecco. When the blinds go up you can see though Trafalgar Square. Lovely cooked chicken.

We held our School Reunion Lunch here for the 13th year running. Konrad and his team always look after us and we have an excellent time. The food is amazing value for a central London location and the ambiance conducive to our annual gathering. We all enjoyed ourselves and are looking forward to meeting again next year.

We purchased an afternoon tea for 4 people using the Groupon voucher and it was fantastic value. The restaurant accommodated all of our dietary restrictions (1 was vegan, 1 was vegetarian, and 1 didn't eat seafood). Our server (Marta? Martina? can't remember name) was excellent! We were there on a weekday afternoon and didn't feel rushed and we were offered complimentary refills on tea and sandwiches.

My daughter booked afternoon tea for an early mother's day treat via groupon. The room we were shown to was lovely and we were shown to our table. The waitress asked to see the barcode for our booking which my daughter managed to find on her phone. My daughter had booked afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly. We ordered our specialist teas which arrived promptly and then we were served our afternoon tea being informed that if we wanted any refills, just to ask. My daughter asked where the glass of bubbly was and the waitress said we were not entitled. My daughter again had to show the confirmation email to prove that she had in fact paid for this and the waitress went away and then came back a bit later saying we had paid for the bubbly and this then arrived. When we asked for some more sandwiches we had to wait about 20 minutes for these to arrive. When we were leaving, they gave us a bill for a service charge. I asked if this was optional and was told it was so informed the staff we would not be paying this because of the above. Food was nice but we have had better and would not return as felt we had to prove what we had ordered and noticed that no-one else in the room had these problems.

If you want to get away from the crowds, this is the place. We were attended to by Martina, a charming and thoughtful young woman. Our drinks were to our liking, as was the atmosphere.

I booked a summer afternoon tea 25% off offer online on the hotels website on Tuesday 28th Aug for 5pm on Wed 29th as we were spending the day in London & going to the theatre in the evening.

I arranged to meet friends at what I knew and grew up with (and stayed at) the Charring cross hotel. I did not know it is now Amba hotel and two of my guests spent over 30 minutes searching for the Charing cross Hotel - so beware - Nice place nice food small bar and restaurant area. Bar server did not understand Pint only large nor did he understand Drambuie even when pointed out to him - he had to get assistance - not what you expect

The food is very good here and the staff very attentive. Lovely atmosphere too and great if you can get the pre-theatre package which includes dinner, accommodation and breakfast. We will be back.

First time visiting the UK and went here with my significant other for afternoon tea. The restaurant is located inside the Amba Hotel. We were seated next to the huge windowed balcony which supplied a lot of beautiful natural lighting into the room and a lovely view. The staff were super friendly. The food came out beautifully presentable and the staff explained the menu items. Amazing experience for our first afternoon tea.

La terraza está en la 2ª planta de la Amba Hotel Charing Cross y tiene vistas a la ribera. Compramos un bono de Travelzoo para una cena de 3 platos para 2 con champán por 39 libras y valió la pena. El personal era maravilloso, tuvimos una mesa ventana precioso y la comida era deliciosa. Para aperitivos - la remolacha, queso de cabra y ensalada de berros contaminados y los calamares, para platos principales tuve el risotto de Cangrejo con bacalao y mi marido tenía el pato y de postre tuve la banana buñuelos, que era uno de los mejores postres que he tenido. Todo estaba delicioso y volvería.

Para el 12 año consecutivo hemos celebrado nuestro almuerzo reunión escuela aquí. Konrad y su equipo nunca dejará de dar servicio extraordinario. Que elegir entre un menú delicioso y sentarse en el balcón con vistas a la ribera. Su ubicación es céntrica y fácilmente accesible para huéspedes que vienen desde Londres y más allá. Trajeron mis padres para un té de la tarde, y estaba destinado a destacar su visita Londres, pero terminamos en la peor experiencia posible. Té era barato y no muy sabroso, y fría por el tiempo que nos dieron los pasteles. Uno de nosotros nunca consiguió su té, así que compartimos algunos con ella, y cuando informar al personal que se molesto y se tomó su taza. Me había informado al hacer la reserva que uno de nosotros era un cacahuete y no alérgica, indicios de que sería un problema, pero cuando las bandejas y tartas llegamos todo bollos fueron reemplazadas con un plato pequeño de fruta y algo de frambuesas (por el precio vale la pena de 40 libras cada uno! ). Si el interrogatorio cuando scones realmente contenido maní, dijeron que no, pero aún así muy de mala gana, ponerlas en la mesa. Una de las galletas de avellanas (que contenía dicho no era un problema), pero se negaron a servir a ellos. Tratando de razón con ellos era bastante inútil debido a su pobre inglés. Compré el cupón en groupon, si no nos hubiéramos negado a pagar. Podría haber comprado té y frambuesas de Tesco y hubiera tenido una mejor experiencia.

Vi hade sett fram emot ett riktigt häftigt afternoon Tea, men tråkigt nog blev det mesta fel. Teet var billigt påste, och det fick vi före bubblet- men långt innan kakorna. En nötallergiker fick en skål med hallon och lite frukt, trots att kakorna och sconesen inte innehöll nötter. En av oss fick aldrig beställa te och när vi påpekade det, tog de hennes kopp som vi delat med oss. Oerfaren personal med dålig engelska. Mycket pengar för lite o ingenting.

We picked the terrace restaurant for convenience of location and the good reviews but were a little disappointed with the food. There was nothing wrong with food or service but it was also quite unremarkable. The portion sizes were good but i can't say i took any real pleasure from eating it, everything just lacked taste. Im sure this would be very adequate if you are staying at the hotel, but would recommend dining here otherwise.

Had a wonderful dinner overlooking Trafalgar square. Very delicious food and wine. Charming staff who were courteous. Will definitely come again.

Came here at the weekend for Afternoon Tea. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were absolutely delicious. They top the sandwiches up for you if you would like more which I thought was a nice touch as many places don’t do this. Unfortunately, the tea was nowhere near hot enough. The tables are also so close together that you feel like your dining at the same table as other people. The service was pretty good, happy and friendly staff but we had to ask for our jackets 3 times after we paid the bill which was a mild annoyance. Overall, it was a happy yet average experience.

I came here today for dinner with my mum after having been to the theatre and we were both really impressed with the terrace restaurant. The food was really tasty and great sized portions with lots of different items to choose from. The atmosphere was really cosy and it had lovely views. Would highly recommend and I will be coming back here soon

Had a window seat overlooking the Eleanor Cross and Nelson's column. Tea arrived promptly with a glass of bubbly. The finger sandwiches were tasty, I particularly enjoyed the ham one also the fruit scone. Didn't care for the little cakes or the tea.

This is a great location for afternoon tea, and it was just ok, but could have been really special with a little more thought and effort.

We had a nice table in this quiet ans cozy bar on a Friday evening. Decor is trendy, staff was attentive and quick with our order . We only had drinks there so I cannot comment on the food. The location is so central and very convenient. Would most certainly go back.

The location and setting was lovely. Window table overlooking The Strand and St Martin's in the Field Church. Service was good and overall the Afternoon Tea (Sparkling) was good value for money. The Chef catered well to the request for a gluten free Afternoon Tea and a Vegetarian Afternoon Tea (both requested in advance) and we were offered more sandwiches and tea.However, I have had a better selection of top tier cakes and nicer scones (gluten free and normal) as part of the majority of Afternoon Teas I have experienced (I have Afternoon Tea in Plymouth every 6-8 weeks with friends).Overall, a great afternoon in a lovely setting with good service that was good value for money.

Not a huge menu but the poached sole and salmon with a saffron broth and minute squares of veg with broccoli followed by warm syrup Tart and clotted cream was delicious. The only thing I would say was that the meals took a while to arrive but if you're not in a hurry then it doesn't matter. Watching others have afternoon tea would entice me back for that!

The waitress named Priscila who served us tea this afternoon was AMAZING! She's a credit to the restaurant; beautiful lady- she was warm and lovely and couldn't do enough for my mum and I. When we told her that we were celebrating my birthday she got really excited and five minutes later she walked out with two glasses of bubbly and cake with a candle in it, to which she also sang me happy birthday.She made our afternoon special, we will come back only because of the fantastic experience that Priscila created for us, she made our day and didn't want to leave!Thank you, Priscila we hope to see you again!Mollie and Bev.

A very enjoyable, relaxing lovely afternoon tea at The Terrace. My relatives and I really liked the afternoon tea here. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially Fely.The ambience is lovely! Highly recommended.

The Terrace Restaurant at the Amba provides a quiet location with views down the Strand in which to enjoy excellent food, great service and a relaxed atmosphere.The varied menu and good wine list will satisfy the needs of a wide range of tastes, all delivered with delightful service and very good prices, this is seriously good value for money in London.Enjoy a cocktail as well while you are here, they are very tasty.Thank you all we will be back when next in town.

I was taken here recently to celebrate my birthday. When booking my partner had asked for, and been promised, a table with a view, but when we arrived the table was not what had been promised, however to make amends we were initially moved to a slightly better table and then after our starters once the restaurant had emptied more we were moved to a much better table by the window. To start we were given a glass of complimentary champagne each (a nice touch), we then shared a meze platter as a starter and for main course I ordered lamb shank and my partner a rare steak. The steak when it arrived was not rare and after pointing this out to the maître d who totally agreed about the steak, both meals were removed, and replaced after a short wait, with new ones. The replacements were both well presented, very tasty and cooked exactly as they should have been. Although we encountered a number of problems they were all dealt with quietly and efficiently and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful throughout. Overall for central London the prices were very reasonable even the wine, and despite the problems I would recommend the restaurant and come back again myself.
