The Tavern at Cameron House in West Dunbartonshire

Utterly disgusting food. The kids meal was shocking. 2 overcooked sausages with 6 chips for £10 served on a side plate. Come on it’s a kids meal not a toddlers snack. Fish was overcooked so we returned. The young staff are lazy and don’t seem interested. Really is this a 5 star?? I don’t think so. It’s more a 3 star. Management should be asking why are the restaurants not busy at this time of year. Yesterday the young staff charged me a service charge for 2 drinks that I went to the bar for myself for!!! It’s absolutely ridiculous!! Come on get your act together….

Disappointing all the way around. Mediocre food, indifferent service, very slow. Waited more than an hour for a couple of burgers and chicken sandwich.

The food was excellent! The chicken burger was superb and the fish finger ciabatta very good. The negative is that it was in a “sports bar”; noisy, kids gaming machines etc. limited lunch options on site (stopped doing food in the bar which was very good on our last visit). La Vista is good but limited options elsewhere for a light lunch. Views to die for!

Visited The Tavern today for lunch with my husband and children, and just let me say before I start, had it not been for the lovely Joseph on shift I would have been rating this visit a 1 star or may even have just walked out! We walked in to The Tavern and it was busier than I’ve experienced before but tables were available, just unfortunate that these tables either had dirty dishes on them or had simply not been wiped down yet! No member of staff to welcome us in so we chose our own table, took a seat for a good few minutes, still no attention so I had to ask a member of staff if it would be possible to wipe the table down. Should have noted the servers name at this point, but without a word of a lie he could not have been more disinterested! Our table had dirty glasses on it, that the server knew were not ours, but he proceeded, without any acknowledgement or apology for our wait at the dirty table, to wipe the table down and around the dirty glasses, he walked off so I had to call him back and ask that he take the glasses away! His rude approach to serving continued and unfortunately must have rubbed off on the manager, Connor, as he also was extremely rude and unwelcoming. I noticed it was not just us that was receiving this kind of service as the table next to us, tried to thank Connor as he cleared their table, he didn’t even raise as much as a smile to them. Connor then brought out the food to our table and again no communication or pleasantries, not even to the children. We also sat with our food for a good few minutes with no cutlery, napkins or condiments waiting for him to return with the final portion of chips. By this time our Mash & gravy was quite cold but I had no energy to complain as it was clear the manager would not have handled our complaint well so we just wanted to eat and leave. Not the 5 star experience I was hoping to have as a celebration for my daughter finishing her exams!! Thankfully Joseph who had originally taken our order then came over to check if everything was ok for us and to see if we required anything else. His smile and genuine interest lit up the restaurant, so a HUGE thank you to Joseph! The hospitality industry would be a brighter place if we had many more Jospehs!!!

Such a pleasant experience today at the Tavern. We arrived with out dog Ace and were given such a warm welcome by Joseph and offered to sit anywhere we liked as not so busy. Josephs service was friendly and attentive and he made sure Ace had enough water and was comfortable!!!! Top member of staff. Kudos also to the young man who appeared to be the Manager or Supervisor who presented us with our bill. (apologies, I didnt catch his name). Thank you.

Visited The Tavern for the first time at Cameron House. Will stick to using the Cameron House Hotel facilities. Full of kids and dogs! Ok if you have to entertain children but if you want a quiet relaxing drink give it a miss. Service was very poor waited 10 minutes for a pint and coffee… we paid a service charge and still had to collect our own drinks from the bar sent coffee back is was less than half a cup the bar staff concentrate on taking orders rather than getting the drinks to the tables.. if they get distracted by a customer query they leave the job they are supposed to be doing so you wait even longer for your drink.. posh version of Wetherspoons.. not impressed

Fabulous service and most helpful staff, Iona in particular who made our day with her friendly and helpful manner. Thoroughly recommend.

We became proper regulars during our stay at Cameron House lodges. Great atmosphere and the food was always good. Kids loved the free pool and darts. A big shout out to Connor especially for making us feel so welcome and looking after us so well. The whole team in fact were fab. Until next year!

Really great service. My family had the fish and chips, hamburger and chicken goujons. We shared mozzarella sticks and nachos for appetisers. Our server, Connor, was outstanding! The girls were also exceptional. Highly recommend for a day out. Beautiful setting.
