The tasty kitchen in Colchester

Food delivered was tasteless (Beef Kung Poo), Chicken satay was as tough as old boots with a spicy hot satay sause (!)...........Even a staple of a crispy pancake roll was awful, more a commercial steak bite type thing from Greggs. Avoid this place. We called to inform them of our disappointment but all they could say was 'yeah, yeah, yeah'. Perhaps something was lost in translation. All in all, £42 was wasted. AVOID.

Awful. When the delivery eventually arrived, (via Deliveroo 2 hrs 15 minutes later) all the food was cold. The prawn toast was so brittle that it shattered when bit into, the Kung Po was congealed and stuck together, the noodles clumped (and a very odd colour..) and the entire meal went straight in the bin in favour of Fish & Chios. A complete waste of £90 (For a meal for four!!!) When contacted to lodge a complaint the manager/owner simply laughed and asked what we expected on a busy Saturday evening. We will NEVER use this Chinese delivery venue again, and strongly encourage others to bye food from elsewhere!!

I ordered a chinese from here as my local one was closed for 2 weeks . Worst Chinese I have ever had . Chow mein and rice appalling and sweet and sour sauce tasted like bbq. Waste of my money I would not order again

We have ordered here a few times now and picked up our order for speed. The food is very nice and never disappoints. The mushroom curry is a pretty big portion! Would recommend.

Very very disappointing. On 2 occasions it has taken 2 hours to deliver food. Been a loyal customer for 2 years since opening but won't be using again. Don't bother if you want your Chinese the same day as ordering!!

We have been ordering from Tasty Kitchens since it opened and we are very lucky to have it in our town. The food is always fresh when it arrives and delivery is speedy. Would definitely recommend.

My & partner both live in Wivenhoe having moved here lierally week before Christmas. Had their tasty chinese dishes previously and never been disappointed! As it was the last chinese before the whole world shuts down, we ordered our favourite. Amongst other dishes we ended up with half portion sweet & sour pork balls & chicken balls having been very busy and run out of some things. Thank you so much, I wasn't disappointed "Tasty Kitchen". Used to order takeaway from them when I lived in W'hoe, always delicious and promptly delivered. Miss their prawns with ginger and spring onions! Very affordable too.

This place is literally on my doorstep - so its very convenient, Incredibly hospitable and most of all - very delicious and reasonably priced. The menu is extensive - give them a half hour heads up and then collect. Recommend:—))

This is the best chinese takeaway for miles, excellent food, well prepared, cooked and always served hot ( local). We have used these guys regularly and they never disappoint! They have always delivered before the time set and the food is always delicious...... So glad we have a Chinese again! Their standards should be commended. The whole experience from order to delivery is excellent. Long may it continue.

I use this place regulalrly and can highly recommend it. I live locally and have tried many Chinese take-aways and this is up there with the best.

We live in Wivenhoe, we usually use another takeaway in Harwich Road but that has only a 2 star hygiene rating now. Last Kitchen order was placed over the phone, it was delivered 10mins quicker than the ETA, food was tasty, plentiful and hot, I will use these from now on and also a 5 star hygiene rating.

Good size portions, tasty and hot when delivered. Now had 3 meals from there and very happy with all. Twice delivered on time, once waited a bit to long, but that’s only gripe. Will definitely use again. Definately value for money.

Great food. Always pipping hot. Deliver wen they say or there abouts. Never had no problems. All though just lately they hardly pick up the phone and not sure y?? Apart from that best food I've tasted.

Huge portions, good value for money. Very tasty with prompt delivery - highly recommended. The set meals are way too big for 2 people so may be best to under order! The rice would feed about 4 people! Great value though.

Had 2 takeaways from Tasty Kitchen recently and on both occasions the food was piping hot and delicious. It was reasonable priced and delivered quickly. What more could you want from a takeaway!

Ordered at 530 for 7o'clock, delivered on the dot, piping hot. Ordered four dishes, plus extras, all good. This is the second time we have ordered and certainly won't be the last, lovely to have a decent takeaway in the town.

I'm so confused by the bad reviews as we've used them numerous times since they've opened and it's always piping hot, fresh and delicious! Delivery times always 30 minutes or under. Really pleased, we have no reason to go elsewhere now, one of the best chinese takeaways we've used

Exciting news that a Chinese was once again to be in the village. The first couple of times ordered the food was excellent. However the last two seem to have slipped in standard. We have had food delivered and found it could be hotter, not sure if delivery is prompt. We have collected with no problem, although it's always ready quicker than stated on phone.

I've been saying for some time that Wivenhoe needs a good Chinese takeaway. I don't know the proprietors of Tasty Kitchen, but when their menu appeared through my door I was eager to give them a try. I've now had two meals from them and both were delicious. Having tried most of the chinese restaurants and takeaways in Colchester and surrounding area, I would rate Tasty Kitchen among the best of them.

This restaurant only accepts orders for delivery, no collections allowed (presumably because of planning restrictions), so although the restaurant is quite close, we ordered a delivery. We were told delivery was about 45 minutes to an hour, it was just beyond the hour, so fairly accurate. We had three meals, which were fairly standard Chinese, good sized portions, the food was hot on arrival, and quite tasty, if perhaps a little sweet. Cost was £35, typical for the area. All in all, OK, I've had better and worse, but not the most exciting takeaway we've had.

We had recently moved to wivenhoe and was very excited when we heard there was a Chinese takeaway opening.

We tried this midweek and found the service to be excellent. Quick turnaround on our order and the food was absolutely delicious - no grease, just fresh and tasty in good sized portions. We thought it was good value for money as well. Recommended!

This pace has only been open 4 days, it was supposed to open a month ago. We really lack takeaway places in Wivenhoe as the previous Chinese closed many years ago, so we were really happy that we were finally getting one !! But what a massive let down. We ordered at 6.35pm and placed ordered , that unlike other takeaways wasn't read back, our email address was taken to send reciept to, and we was told that it would be 30mins. The meal was for 3 and cost £35. We always order the same , so thought that it being local it would be slightly cheaper as we are in the same town. We normally order fro Beijing in Colchester and they are cheaper and do charge for delivery. The order took an hour to arrive, and the delivery guy was nice. Took the food out and it wasn't very hot. Then noticed that 3 dishes were missing?? About a third of the order. Tried to call but the line was busy. Finally got through and the girl on the phone was talking to me and her boss, it really would have been better if she had just taken the call ?? After backwards and forwards I finally got to speak to the woman , who at first questioned if I was sure that I had items missing, then said I did receive some ?? Why when you have just started a business would you be so rude to a customer?? She then offered to send missing items, but the food we received was going cold and we would have to wait another 25mins ?? I insisted that resend meal, apart from the food my daughter had ordered. She finally agreed to that and the food arrived after 25mins. The driver thought he had to collect money, but it wasn't going to be paying twice! Order taken in and now there was something missing from this order that wasn't missing the first time ??? They really need to get there act together, as I won't be using this place again. The food wasn't great, as it wasn't very hot. The soup was very gloppy, the mixed starter was ok, the curry wasn't great. Everything was very sweet tasting??? I will stick to the Beijing in Colchester as I've never had a bad meal from there.
