Beijing Chinese Take-Away in Colchester

haven't been for 20 years or so still the same ladies and amazing friendly to everyone that comes through the door but more importantly food still sharp excellent take away i remember g for 2 at £14,95 ha ha

Quite possibly the worse Chinese I have ever eaten, and I’ve tried nearly every Chinese in Colchester this is the worse one so far, the food was horrible, the beef in black bean sauce wasn’t even edible the beef was so tough couldn’t even chew through it, the chicken balls had an appalling smell and taste! Even our dog wouldn’t eat them! The chicken Choi mein was bland had no flavour at all, the best things were the prawn crackers but that was about it, the worse £50 I’ve ever spent, will be trying to get my money back but I highly doubt that I will,

Best Chinese for most main meals

Long time customer, always been greatly satisfied. Service is quick, food is always delivered hot and fresh and staff are always friendly. Prices are respectable compared to other takeaways and I always leave a satisfied. Would definitely recommend.

Very polite staff quick turn around on our order, chow mein was a bit of a let down (smaller than most also a bit dry) but the rest was a lot better than most! Would recommend.

One of the best Chinese takeaways in Colchester

Always rated the food, but they have put their prices up to the point where I refuse to pay £7.60 per dish. I now go to the Hokkaido in Frinton, just as good, but £5.80 per dish. I can see the Beijing pricing themselves out of business!

What a rip off ordered a special fried rice it came in a side order container Feels like you're being ripped off

Last time will order from here, £7.40 per dish is far to expensive for the quality especially when other takeaways are at the £5.80 mark. also have to pay for prawn crackers wouldn't mind but I could eat in a restaurant for the 10 quid more

Slightly confusing. Ordered without Veg but food came with it anyway. Not a massive problem but annoying. Called to to try and sort over the phone. Lady said I didn't ask for "no veg". I have had the same no veg dish for many years. Maybe she didn't hear me. Would have been nice to have been offered a replacement. Also, has minimum card payment which is slightly annoying. Maybe, I should just eat vegetables!

Ordered 3x dishes. Both vegetarian dishes were so spicy, despite not being advertised as such. There was a whole tablespoon of chillies in one dish alone. The same dish contained tofu, which was very hard and chewy. Reasonable delivery costs, though we had to wait 1hr20. Spent £30 and no prawn crackers either 😔

Amazing food, So tasty, literally just the Best ive ever had as Chinese takeaways go. (And ive had alot)And the delivery service is superb. I wouldn't be bothered if Bejing charged a bit more for their services because i would be happy to pay it. Credit should be given where it's due I believe. Beijing, You're epic! 👌

The food was very nice. Not my favourite Chinese in Colchester but the food was very well cooked. The veg was still crisp and the dumplings were cooked well. It is the first time I have ever had to salt my chinese food.

Popped in for a quick Chinese and ended up having some of the best chilli beef I’ve ever had 👌🏽 With excellent service. I would defo recommend.

I used to love this takeaway but the last 3 times of ordering from the Beijing the food was very bland so when I ordered tonight's order I made sure of asking for my kung po beef to be extra spicy/Hot because of issues I experienced before. So when I picked it up the young lady even mentioned that the kung po beef was going to be extra hot So was looking forward to my meal and guess what my kung po beef was the blandist it's ever been even disappointed as this has always been my go to as its at the end of my road.

This has to be one of the best takeaways in Colchester. Every time i order I’m pleasantly surprised with the service, the food and the timing. The food is always so fresh delicious and very filling. I also commend the staff at Beijing for always giving me a very warm welcome anytime i step in the door. I had the pleasure to meet the owner and i must say what a friendly lady. The whole experience at Beijing is 10/10. A must go place if you’re in Essex! My favourite takeaway

similar to others - used to be the best in the area but now quality gone down. in a chicken dish where you used to get lots of high quality chicken now it’s a couple bits of chicken and a lot of bits of deep fried gristle. also the black guy has delivered to my house from here a few times and is extremely rude, snapping and shouting.

We were in Colchester for the night & needed some hot food at around 9pm. As hotel too far from town centre &, on the recommendation of a local, we went here. We all had a tub of chow mein & it was lovely. They even gave us a plastic fork to eat it with. Job done 😀

I used to love this place, used to be best Chinese in Colchester but our past couple takeaways have been disappointing, the portion sizes have gotten smaller, prices creeping up and now you have to buy prawn crackers, when you used to get a free bag when you spent a certain amount

Always have a reasonable takeaway from the Beijing. It can be pretty busy at times, and often your better off going down there to pick up. We had duck and some Chinese pork which was very nice, but also had a Chinese curry and a satay chicken that was a little liquidy, albeit still nice. Have had rice at other Chinese takeaways that are better... Have used the Chinese on / off for a number of years so not our favourite, but certainly wouldn't purposely avoid it.

First time going there excellent food loved it, and returned to get more will let my fellow friends and family know.

Best Chinese we have had for a long time 3 adults at least 6 dishes and cant find any fault at all top service and very delicious food.

I've just had mine delivered and couldn't eat it, it was the driest chow mien I've ever had and my chip's wasn't cooked, it was so dry it wasn't easy to swallow, my partner said he's was nice

Good food, waiting times change drastically depending on how buisy it is, but overall a good takeaway.

Possibly the best Chinese Takeaway in Colchester

Have always used Beijing and over the years the food has been great however when you pay for food to be delivered and the driver comes to your door smoking a joint with your food next to it you have to question why they allow their employed drivers to do this and effectively spoil the food. I called immediately and spoke with a Chinese lady who told me the driver was Andy and that they can’t control what the drivers do and that they had discussed this in the past with drivers and that she would pass on my concerns to her manager and put the phone down. They seriously need to handle their complaints better and take action as food should not be spoiled by smoke and contravenes health and safety.

Gone so downhill now.... terrible place... used to spend a lot of money here but never again.... they just don't seem to care... I think they got a bit above their station because they USED to be good!!!! China City much much better!

What a fab meal we have just had. The pancake rolls were full of meats, prawns and noodles and the rest of the dishes were great. As for the chips...amazing!

Since moving to Colchester I have tried 4 Chinese restaurants. This one is the best by more than a mile. Beautiful edible meat....lovely service. I highly recommend this restaurant 🙂🙂🙂🙂

Had a takeaway sunday, I must say it was very disappointing. Used to use Beijing a lot a while ago and always happy with the food. But this set meal for 2 was not very nice it was very bland and dry, even the ribs were dry. Will probably not use this takeaway again.

Our first takeaway from here for years and it will certainly be our last! The food was dreadful. Pancake rolls were literally flat and had no filling in them. Chicken with cashew nuts, had about 6 bits of nuts in, huge uncooked slices of onion, sauce was bright orange and tasteless and the chicken was very hard and dry as if it had been cooked previously and reheated. The prawn in satay sauce had no flavour of satay whatsoever, just tasted like curry sauce and once again, huge uncooked slices of onion in it. Very disappointed as years ago, this was a good place for food. Not anymore!

Have to say this was really, really bad. So bad I had to throw it away. I had Chicken Chow Mein and Chicken Curry. Both items had cooked chicken cut up and thrown in the silver container (the chicken never saw the inside of a wok, not good practice) and then the noodles dumped on top and as for the curry the same thing, just curry sauce and cooked chicken thrown in After ordering at 5pm (as they opened) we had to wait 1 hour for delivery The food was luke warm at very best. I could have gone to a supermarket and ordered better I will never go there again....dreadful

Absolutely awful food not one dishes good.mixed veg curry contained onion only in runny curry sauce.Veg.pancake rolls seemed to have no filling.The meat dishes were awful too.Our first visit and our last.

We always go to the Beijing for our Chinese takeaway, we can't fault the food, it is fantastic. The people who work there are lovely and always polite.

Have been ordering regularly with Beijing for around 6+ months. By far best Chinese around colchester area. Never had crispy chilli beef that is actually crispy and delicious. Always been spot on with everything.

second time I tried the food it's absolutely fantastic, definitely recommend it ! Later edit after 4 years of using Beijing, still very good but with the lemon chicken is sometimes hit and miss (sometimes it feels you’re eating chewing gum not chicken as some bits are not properly made). Last night was good !

Not the cheapest but in my opinion the tastiest meals in Colchester. They also give an accurate time for collecting orders. Highly recommended.

Food was so poor, ordered 2 egg fried rice, SS chicken & Kung Po, each dish came out of container in solid lump of congealed gunk, Kung Po was tasteless no spice at all, waiting 1hr 45mins despite being to only 1 hour wait. We couldnt finish the food it was horrible!

Just had a takeaway & what a disappointment, we had two tubs of solidified gunk, not much liquid or flavour & wasn't even hot when it arrived, very poor quality

Always get my chinese food from these guys nowadays. Their food is always consistently good and their golden fried wings are to die for. If they were on justeat, I would get their food more frequently. I guess a long walk to taste some good quality food isn't that much of a sacrifice. I highly recommend Beijing takeaway to everyone who lives in Colchester.

My favourite Chinese, I highly recommend it, they give great service on the phone, called today for food but they are inundated with orders and it’s a bit of a wait, just goes to show how popular this place is, if you haven’t ordered here I suggest you do I’d rate them higher if I could Keep up the good work x

Chow mein & kung po chicken was lovely. But the mixed vegetables and singerpore style chow mein was disappointing.

We have ordered from here a couple of times and the food was lovely but the food we had tonight was awful, the king prawns were really soggy, and the pork was very dry, the whole order tasted like it had been reheated, and it wasnt very hot when delivered. Wont be ordering from here again.

I’m a huge fan of Chinese. I travel around the United Kingdom a lot and this Chinese is the best I’ve eat in the United Kingdom. Excellent Sevice, Clean and everything has the fresh Chinese taste you are looking for. Highly Recommend.

So I ordered at 10:40 just before they’re about to shout they were happy to take my order and they have not delivered my order yet and it is 1158 and this is just not acceptable I have always come to this place I have had exceptional service and to be honest I am absolutely fuming me and my family are sat here starving no other places are open it’s just not acceptable I will be going further with this you will see me on Tuesday!

Very dry could hardly swallow the noodles and rice, nearly chocked it was that dry . Chicken balls were ok along with chips. Definitely won’t be going back there

We ordered nearly £50 worth last night and the order was double the stated delivery time and mainly cold. The honey roasted pork was so dry I just imagined it was jerky and it made more sense. Some of dishes were tasty but the late delivery and cold food let it down for me

I've used this takeaway a few times now and have never experienced a bad meal. I've had a different dish every time and everything they serve is always good. I don't know if it's the best Chinese takeaway in Colchester as I've not tried too many of them but of the ones I've had food from, it's certainly the best. The staff are friendly and meals are always prepared quickly. My last visit was on Friday evening which is generally a busy time but as always, the food came out very quickly and was cooked perfectly.
