The Tap House in Nottingham

Called in on Wednesday 5pm to try out. Told it was booked by some group and that we could not be served. Off the list frm now on for me and my friends. Dissapointed!

As a landlady we visited this place as my OH loves beer and it’s a great place to try a few different ones without committing to buying a whole pint. We know how to pour well so it was easy for us. The staff were friendly for the most parts and informative of the process. The problem with the place is it the fact that it is so expensive! A literal dribble in the bottom of a glass that barely covered the bottom was £3.25. The concept itself is good but I feel it is poorly executed. It would be more popular if the first taste of each was free, a literal taste or taste 3/4 for free before committing to a pint or a half. I feel more people would be inclined to stay and have a proper drink if that were the case whereas we just felt a bit robbed really. Over £15 for a little more than half a beer in total is pretty shocking. I’m not at all surprised that this place had two customers in and every other we went to was pretty full and had atmosphere because of this. Could do better

Lovely venue, with a great selection of beers from a wide range of breweries. Only down side was the staff member in shorts constantly on his phone whilst at the counter, very unprofessional.

This place is just GENIUS! Nuffink else to say, except if you haven't yet been then GIVE IT A GO! You can pull your own pints!

Pizzas are delicious and massive. Great atmosphere and a warm welcome. Good selection of drinks . Great place.

Really good fun! Pity that some taps weren’t on but the experience was good fun.

Really funky venue, fun experience to go with mates! I recommend tasting what you are gonna get before you get a full pint, also good to keep in mind that some drinks can be expensive for a full pint

Interesting place. Pizza was very thin crust, which was great. Beer is kegs not cask. I had a West Country cider which was lovely.

I have to give myself five stars for service because I know how to pour a beer but my Deya was flat, it’s my favourite beer and it was lacking in CO2. The concept is fun, the music is good but it’s too hipster.

Bars with an emphasis on beer can be a bit macho and silly. Not this place. Welcoming, helpful staff. An excellent concept of serve your own beer in any amount you like, charged by the ml. It means you can try small amounts of several, or settle on one and get stuck in. No waiting to be served either! A good selection of beer which changes regularly. Excellent choice of quality glasses to suit different styles of beer. It can get expensive, but quality and choice doesn’t come cheap.

Upon finding this bar by chance we were really glad we found it. We liked the idea of self service and it was easy to see how much each drink would cost. It had a nice variety of lager, cider and stout available on tap. We also had a pizza which was all hand made was delicous. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Hidden up an alley connecting two streets is this lovely little pub! It has a very unique system (although I suspect it will become more commonplace soon). Upon entering the staff take your name and you are provided with a plastic card. This is connected to your 'tab' and you place it in a slot on one of the many beer pumps and pour away. The amount you have spent to date is displayed in the corner of the screen and you can have as few or as many pints, halves etc. as you like! The choice of beers is vast and there were also ciders and lagers available as well as wine. Pizzas were also available to order although I didn't try these. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and happy to help you choose your beer and show you how everything works. I ended up having around two and a half pints in total over three different IPA's which cost me around £12 so given the average price of a pint it's pretty much on par. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if you like your ales - no more queuing at the bar!

Great venue and friendly staff, greeted on the door and instructed how the system works. Plenty of great craft, blonde, cask and sours to choose from and my favorite feature is that you can see how much you're spending as you pour. Great night out to try some delicious beers 🍻

Great place and good idea as people love the novelty of pouring they’re own pints. Not a huge drinker but for people who are this place is perfect . Guys are friendly and show you what to do . My one and only criticism is they don’t take cash but that’s my personal preference

Was recommended to the Tap House by a friend and was not disappointed. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great concept (pour your own beer and only pay for how much you have like a petrol pump) and a great selection of beers that were well priced. Not much more to say other than try it out!

Love the idea. You get a 'tab' card in your name and can sample as little or as much of as many of the available beers as you like. As with petrol, you can do it by cost rather than measure, if you wish. Prices are relatively a bit on the high side, so I probably wouldn't spend a whole evening there, but there were some good (and some strong premium) beers on offer and it's definitely a fun way of having a beer or two, or just having your own mini beer festival and sampling a lot of beers. And you can see on screen when you place you tab card in one of the slots how much you're spending.

First visit to this unique setup. Enjoyed getting my own drinks, no waiting around. Cool seating at the back. Would recommend

Saw this place on a map and knew I had to go and see it for myself. Was greeting by the lovely Finn when I arrived and he was excellent at explaining the system and talking to me about beers! Also the sauce on their pizzas might actually be the best pizza sauce I’ve ever had. I don’t know what you do but my god I left the venue happy Definitely dragging my friends here the next time I’m in Nottingham.

This is an extraordinary place. Self-service beer! It's such a good idea and you can try just a small amount of a number of beers to find your favourite. They serve great pizza too. A friendly place with very pleasant staff.

Had a great couple of drinks, met some great people

Great place to sample a range of beers. With lots of taps, you can pour as much or as little as you want. The tap tells you how much you're pouring and your cumulative spend. System works well as you're give a plastic card to record you're purchases. Staff really helpful. Love the place.

Very Polite staff for customers, I sat outside with my family and I asked for them for a seat and I got an very authentic seat that is amazing. The beers and the drinks are very valuable for money and atmosphere is very welcoming and know our needs I been here for my 28th birthday and been here today, worth very penny.

Came here for a night out with friends. I'd been to a place like this in Riga and have been on the look out for somewhere similar ever since. The staff are very friendly and helpful and despite a couple of the taps being faulty it was a great stop and i would love to go back one day

The family and I visited Nottingham and found this little Gem of a great quirky pub. On arrival was invited and instructed on how to use the Taps .Nice selection of Beers and ciders. Nice welcoming staff and atomsphere. Would I visit again ..... absolutely Thanks guys

16 or more beers and a handful of ciders in a serve your self type venue, fantastic for real ale enthusiasts who want to try a load of different styles of beer. The self serve thing was easy to use and a bit of fun.

Very friendly staff and a great way to sample/drink different beers. Prices are very good. Didnt try the pizza but it smelt awesome.

Warm welcome by staff, process and beers explained, given your charge card and off you go to enjoy your drink. You put the charge card on a card tab above the beer pump, it then records how much beer your pour and gives you the running total so you know how much you are spending, it’s great so you try every beer by small samples before commuting to a bigger beer. The only downside was the beer prices, around £6.25 to £10.10 a pint. Most of the beers were quality and strong, so overall we would go back to sample different beers.

Innovative set up, a beer bar with multiple taps and self-service. You're given a card on entry to track how much you pull, different beers are different prices, and you only pay for what you take, like a petrol pump. A great selection of different interesting craft beers. Great value.

Love this place, very good vibe in house, and the self pouring taps are a laugh. But it’s not just a good gimmick, it’s genuinely a great way to drink and try lots of different beer without having to drink full pints. Student discount is also a great deal monday-Thursday.

The best place in Nottingham for beer if you are into craft. The pizzas are insane my eyes were bigger than my belly so I struggled to finish mine x

Awesome. Terry was a star..... something very different. Pizza and drink on tap. A must try. Toilets need a little attention during the day.

A great selection of craft keg beers in a nice environment and a fun way to buy your beer. You get given a card on entry and you choose your beer from the 10+ on offer. You then present your card which unlocks the tap and you dispense your own - as much or as little as you like. It's a great way to try new beers. When you are ready to leave, you settle your tab at the till. 👍

Great selection of beers and because you pour your own you can have as much or as little as you like of all the ones you want to try 🙂 Top tip though, if you try too many you can end up with a pretty serious hangover 😜

Good selection of beers and ciders on tap. The tap and pour concept is great and allows the opportunity to try options why you buy without being subjected to measures - keeping costs down and in control. The fridge is also packed with a vast range of drinks.

Giving 4 stars because the concept is great, only thing that let's it down is the lack of non alcoholic drinks. I was driving the evening of our visit and I was limited to either a can of Sprite or Fanta, I would have preferred something non carbonated but no options.

Great experience pouring your own beer, bar style food is good too. Make sure you check what you're pouring before you start, friends were caught out by the prices and strength of some of the beers.

Great idea to tast several kind of beer without pay too much! And play: at the enter you will receive a card by wich you will be allow to open every tap of the beer you want, for the quantity you want, and ypu will pay just for that. So you can taste even a sip of every beer, and they have tens! More, there you can find board plays and a smokers garden.

Love the idea / concept of the Tap House. Always great options available (drink) and staff are great! Brought friends here when they’ve visited Nottinghams and they loved it too. We’ll be back again!

Popular for Sunday Roasts. Only popped in for a drink, but by the looks of the plates of food that were coming out, you definitely get value for money. Staff are friendly and the toilets were clean.

Visited their website to book and states no bookings walk in only, turned up and took us in with no where to sit, a bit awkward really as I could have gone to a local boozer to stand around.

A different selection of beers and spirits for you to try. Not the cheapest of prices. But worth a visit. A nice atmosphere within. You are given a card to activate the separate pumps, keep an eye on what you spend as you pay as you leave.

Love the idea of it & have seen the same thing in Riga (Latvia)...but on this occasion, despite there being loads of taps, there wasn't really anything we wanted. Oktoberfest was on so the taps were skewed accordingly. The staff were very helpful and the system was very slick...if they had 3 or 4 beers that we liked we would have stayed much longer, as it was we all had about a 1/3rd each & left.

Fun experience and a great place to spend anywhere from one drink to a whole evening. They rotate taps as well so not always the same drinks on offer when you come back. Particularly good for sours and pale ales. Also have some wine and cocktails on tap.

Great concept, executed well. You get to serve yourself, using a card given to you as you arrive to rack up drinks. Whilst some of it can be a little expensive, the offering is vast and the setting is great. The alleyway seating area is good for windy and rainier days, whilst the seating on Byard Lane gives the place a very European feel. If I’m ever in Nottingham to see friends, this place is always on my radar

Brilliant concept, you only pay for what you pour yourself which then gets charged to your tab. You can taste them all and then decide on one you want to drink more of. There was a great selection of beers as well as some cocktails.

Excellent bar, what an amazing way to sample cask ales and beers..you can choose your tipple try and buy.. Before you down a pint. !!..staff are so helpful..staff member Terry..was such a knowledgable guy and happy to explain in detail.. The ingredients brewing.. tastes..ect..infact.. what he doesn't know anout his business isn't worth knowing..!!.... Great vibe well worth a visit and a sample... We will return soon... Awaiting one of these amazing bars to open closer to where I live in Liverpool.. Fingers crossed

There is a lot to choose from, but I missed the milk stout. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

Such a good hangout, great staff and the beer selection is really good. Perfect if you want to try tons of beers/ciders and perfect if you want to drink gallons of the same one

Great place. You get a credit style card on arrival. You pay for what you pour,so you sample any of the drinks and just pay for what you pour. Great idea!
