The Taj - Lincoln in North Kesteven

Lovely staff and incredible food

When I first commented on the Taj, it was on the basis of being a 1st time customer. Now many, many visits later, I like to consider myself a regular and proud to recommend, especially as Harun only throws me out occasionally 😉 Although only available for take-away, the food is very well prepared and is piping hot. Friendly service and timely food preparation, ready bang on time against the advised collection time of 20 minutes. Good to see that you can also pay with contact-less transactions as well. Atmosphere is always friendly, whether you are a first timer or a regular, you will be greeted in a friendly manner. I have got to know all of the staff over the years I have been coming and it literally feels like being welcomed back as a relative. I cannot speak highly enough about the food quality or the hospitality

The takeaway is always excellent. This is our ‘regular’ and have never been disappointed. Always cooked to perfection and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. Food always ready at the time given so no waiting either. Cannot fault it. Highly recommend.

A wonderful local take away. The owner is friendly and cheerful. Always puts a smile on your face good value for money tasty food. Eaten from there for over a decade. For anyone that has uploaded a negative review for one sub par experience, consider how many positive experiences you have not added as a review!

Fantastic place, the food is always great and the staff are brilliant. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a takeaway in the Lincoln area! The best peshwari naan you’ll find!

Chicken vindaloo wasn't hot, the chicken was dry and chewy, the poppadoms were fatty and the saag bhagi was awful runny slop. Never had such a bad takeaway ever, also the menu on their web site is just a photo of their menu that is out of date as it shows prices from years ago. Had to buy a pizza as I could not eat this, total waste of money.

Absolutely amazing service amazing Food and amazing staff. They really all Absolutely amazing. I was a bit hesitant to try a new curry and rice biryani and onion barjees amd samosas from a new place but I was pleasantly surprised with the taste of the food. Wow. I loved the food so much I ordered everyday I was there for my Hols. 🙂🙏🏽🙂🙏🏽. Thank you everyone at the Taj and Arun and also the nice Sister at the front desk. I forgot her name but it's was nice too like the food. 🙏🏽🙂🙏🏽🙂🙏🏽. I can't wait to visit again. 10 out of 10. 🙏🏽🙂🙏🏽🙂🙏🏽.

EDIT TO ADD: shared photo on their Facebook page to be informed the half portions are intentional so to prevent them spilling in the bag. Shame the prices don’t reflect the half portions or they can’t use the rigid plastic containers that don’t leak that most other takeaways use these days. Been having curries from here for years. Absolutely adore them they taste amazing. Unfortunately not good value for money any more because not only does it cost £66 to buy 5 curries, 3 rice, 2 naans and a saag aloo… unfortunately when you open the curries they are literally only half filled. Was a bit embarrassing as had guests over and I had bought an extra dish so had 5 curries for the 4 of us and yet there was wasn't enough to get a full plate each. Although I didn’t attempt it I am certain that the curry provided in the large containers wouldn’t have even filled the small rice containers.

DON'T KNOW IF IT'S CHANGED HANDS BUT.... Use to love food from here but found it really disappointing chicken TIKKA had very weird texture and was really chewy my other dish was just bland Very disappointed 😞

Had multiple takeaways with my partner and the food and service never disappoints. We only have it as a treat (because it's so good) and it always leaves us satisfied. The owner is cool too, always cracks some funny jokes and has football on 😆

Very disappointed. When we ordered outr food on-line the website said 35- 40 mins, then 1 hr once the order was placed (ok Saturday night so only to be expected) but it was eventually 1 hour and twenty minutes!! With chaos in the shop when my hubby collected it. They then have the audacity to charge 80p service charge. We ordered Chicken Byriani and korma and i asked for chopped fresh chillies in my korma which they said they couldnt do as they were too busy. Chillies aside, it really was the worst Korma I have ever eaten. It was bland at best.....I know kormas are mild but they are still usually tasty and almondy....this was awful. The container was all sauce and only 5 very small pieces of chicken. When I rang I was told that that's the way the chef is making the korma tonight. It's the 3rd time I've had a curry from there and 2 out of the three times they've been running stupidly late with no update on your order on-line which would stop you having to go and sit there for half an hour waiting. I will definitely not be using this place again or recommending it. Food not brilliant and waiting times ridiculous.

I had the most amazing cheese on chips i ever tasted and the staff are very polite and friendly when u arrive and when ur there and when u leave complements to the chef as while i was there the food smelt fresh and beautiful.

Rather disappointed. Ordered 2 dishes along with poppadoms and chapatis. Neither dish had much meat in it and the chicken tikka masala was so sweet it was not enjoyable at all. The chapatis used to be massive, but the ones we received were very small. Very reluctant to order from there again. Service is good, but disappointed with the food.

Fantastic...Nice friendly staff lovely food which is consistently good everytime we get it. Always flat out busy which says it all would highly recommend.

Never ever had a bad curry from them in the last 4 years, and we eat a minimum of twice a month there! It is fantastic quality, very tasty and the staff is friendly. My favourite Indian in Lincolnshire!

Great curry house ordered takeway there tonight and everything was lovely only downside is that they forgot one of the rices but they did look really busy.

Very good food - all very tasty and good portions. I liked the menu because there is far more detail than on lots of other menus giving more detail of the ingredients and heat of the food on offer.

Ordered a curry for New Year’s Eve and it was ready very quickly. The chips weren’t greasy, the rice was flavourful and the curry wasn’t swimming in oil. I will certainly be coming back again

The food was tasty don't get me wrong but my madras was not hot at all all it all was very very oily the chips were dripping with it and the currys has a thick layer on top that I could pour out
