Fish and chips were excellent and the service very good

Visited here for a drink with work colleagues and have to say this little pub is a hidden treasure. Original intended in going to Cardiff but glad we changed our plans last minute.

What a gem. Really friendly pub with a great pint of Doombar and the best vegan burger meal that I've ever eaten and only £10! My friend had a huge fish portiin with chips Outstanding. It was our first visit but it definitely won't be our last. Thank you for the exceptional bar service too!

Lovely pub, very dog friendly (and Beagle tolerant 😅) When we arrived staff took out order and immediately offered the dogs water and treats which is 5 🌟 in my book

A welcome sight on our way to Taffs Well train station after our descent from Garth mountain. Friendly, welcoming staff, we enjoyed refreshments as we rested then decided on an early dinner. Great menu selection, just what you would hope for, classic pub food, served hot and fresh and at a great price. By the time we left there was a sizeable crowd and it seemed everyone knew each other, which shows it must be a favorite of the locals. Will definitely return when next in the area and we highly recommend.

Out for a walk ,were going to call in for a drink but were asked at the bar if we wanted to eat.(Sunday Lunch) decided we would and had two great meals,well presented ,well cooked.staff very friendly ,would recommend.

Most of our food was cold , my brother in law curry was dry , fish was awful disappointed as we ate there 4 wks before this and meal was lovely don't know what's gone wrong , staff did not seem concerned when we raised these issues only only 1 was refunded , such a shame it's a lovely pub !

Lovely and cosy. Dog friendly. Staff v.polite and accommodating. They've even a dog menu for your fluff butt. My 4 legged walking buddy had got rather muddy, the owner let me use his hose pipe out the back to rinse my dog off. Real fire roaring, loved it!

Visited as a large group, which these days most pubs won't accommodate. Our designated area was all ready for us and we were all sitting together, no random people slotted in anywhere. The landlord was excellent, just as landlords used to be. Friendly, funny and could not do enough to make sure our afternoon is lovely. The other staff were smiley, efficient and worked really hard to get us all fed. Would recommend for one person or a large group. Get down there if you are looking for a pub and not a chain. Loved it, thank you 😊

Stopped off at this lovely family run pub this afternoon. The meal was genuinely delicious, I have been searching for a local pub with a nice home made dinner and I have found the one! Great service was waiting for less than ten mins for food. This is probably up there with one of the best I have had in many years. What A Roast Dinner! ❤️

Had a very pleasant few pints with friends here last Wednesday. It's got a nice ambience and the staff were all helpful. I noticed a sunny balcony out the back too, and they were serving food. We'll worth a visit I'd say.

Exceptional. A warm friendly environment with great quality and range of beers all very competitively priced. Had a lovely evening with the family trying the 'Grazing' board. Would strongly recommend.

Always a great experience, a proper village pub supplying the locals with chilled beer and a place to meet, food is basic but filling

Went there May 15th, before going to see my grandson who was performing in Grease in the village hall. Had a couple of pints of dark fruits in their lovely beer gardens. Kids were able to play in the nearby park. Didn't have food on this occasion. However, a nearby group of ladies had ordered the cheese burgers and chunky chips, which looked fantastic and judging by empty plates, was. Really enjoyed our visit and planning to go there yo sample the menu soon.

Much anticipated visit was a big disappointment! Booked after seeing the pub advertised on Facebook. On arrival all was fine, the pub is small but cosy. We were shown to our table by the waitress who took our drinks orders, when she brought the drinks she informed us there would be about a 20min wait which was fine, so we ordered our Sunday lunch which I was really pleased to find lamb was on the menu! Unfortunately we were sat in a corner next to a large table with a few children who were really loud and being a low ceilinged room it was quite painful! We waited about an hour for our food which had not arrived and when my wife heard a waitress tell another table they had run out of cream for desserts, we decided to leave which was disappointing as the meals looked really nice! Seemed as if they were unable to cope with big tables, hopefully if we return it will be better as I said the food looked really good and the smell was nice! Ps waitress was very apologetic and did not charge for our drinks!

Lovely and cosy family pub. We went for a Sunday lunch. The roasts and desserts were superb!! Would also recommend the Neck Oil IPA. Staff are very friendly and accommodating, they really do make you feel welcome! Will definitely be back again.

Just had sunday lunch with the wife. Had a choice of Beef , Lamb or chicken. Had all three. Vegetables were plentiful, gravy spot on. Service second to none. We can honestly say this was the best sunday roast we've had out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all day long.

We had Sunday lunch here, you get a choice of small, regular or extra large portion. We chose a regular portion, which was actually quite a lot and very filling. The meal was very tasty and the service was excellent.

Really lovely gem of a country-style pub. Haven't tried the food yet, looks and smells great though. Good variety at the bar, friendly staff. Respectful clientele. Autumnal additions to the decor inspired me to do some DIY at home. The board outside shows some evening activities and events. There's a few dedicated off road parking bays or free on road near-by. FYI no food Mondays.

The pub is a family business total infighting between the family which is done infront of customers. Marsha can't keep kitchen staff and even the best chiefs leave. Mike make racist remarks when drunk. Avoid this pub, false horrible people. In response to your pathetic response, it was me that refused to use your pathetic little pub and did not for weeks that's when you pathetic Marsha own step daughter quite the business over you decided to ban a customer who spoke out against your abysmal running of the pup pathetic woman More so your a control freak, Jordan was lovely and you caused her to quite her job, your own step daughter and I am liable for what stupid pathetic woman

Recently visited this lovely family pub with my young family, the beer garden is a fantastic outdoor space with lovely views. The service was fantastic and the staff were so friendly, especially good with the kids. All our meals were lovely and after discovering they do doggie roast dinners too we will be back very soon for Sunday lunch. A special thank you to Mike the landlord for the free icecream when my youngest was having a meltdown, which allowed us to finish our meals.

Love this family run pub, always a warm welcome, and a great menu and choice of drinks. Summertime is Specially good at this pub with a fantastic beer garden and pods with TVs no need to sit inside when the sunshine in when you can watch your favourite sports team in the sun, The management are always trying something new to improve the service they provide making it a happier place for all to come.

We were recommended the Taffs Well inn i’m well looking forward to a lovely Saturday night steak meal but unfortunately we are very disappointed. We had a lovely warm welcome service was great and staff very attentive. We ordered the 10 ounce rump steak with peppercorn sauce which looked really nice but very small portions. We bought a nice bottle of red wine that’s when it began to go downhill. We asked for medium to well but when we cut into our steaks blood came out and was not cooked inside. The staff were very apologetic and took it away to cook the steak for a few more minutes then came back, cut into it again and still bloody in parts also the steak was poor quality and just full of gristle. I mentioned it to the Landlady’s son who is very accommodating and said sorry.I did say the meal was awful and we paid £43.50 and left feeling hungry and wished we had gone somewhere else because we were so disappointed after it was recommended to us. The Son did mention that they did not have a chef and his mum was doing the cooking and she was not professional and I perfectly understand that she was doing her best, but at the end of the day we left disappointed, didn’t have a good meal, that had to be returned twice and still not right. We paid £43.50 for a substandard meal. If we had known that there was no chef that would’ve been fine and we would’ve just gone for fish and chips something less complicated but we’re not told this. It’s a cosy friendly little pub and we were just really disappointed with the end result. These circumstances happen that is life but after complaining three times due to circumstances have no chef, undercooked food I understood these things happen and I only complain when necessary and do it in a quiet diplomatic manner. It would have been nice to be compensated in someway may be a free desserts a reduction in the cost of the meal that we did not enjoy it but unfortunately we were not offered anything just oh sorry about that.!! The staff were very pleasant and attentive but at the end of the day it put a dampener on our Saturday night meal that we were really looking forward to and paid £43.50 !😔

Cold food, congealed gravy. To top it off a couple on the next table, who had a dog with them, not a problem - pets are allowed in quite a lot of establishments these days, I did take exception when the said dog fouled beneath the table.

Done a lovely job of Thr bar,furnishing,decoration, but ......... What they have done with the beer garden,is nothing short of BRILLIANT!!!!!!! I wil attempt to attach photos,best just go see for yourselves,you won"t be disapointed. For all those dowting thomases. MOST UNWELCOMING INN Having visited this pub previously when visiting relatives nearby, we thought we would meet up there again. As there was a Ireland v Wales rugby match on (Wales were trounced by the way) we called ahead and booked a table for 3 for 2.30pm. On arrival prompt at 2.30 we were told some others were sat at the table. Personally....had I been the manager I would have turfed them off but no, all we got was a shrug and a half hearted apology. If that's how you treat customers...you can whistle. Would I visit again?: Not a chance and I suggest you avoid them too...unless poor customer service is your thing.

A group of us had a wonderful lunch here yesterday. We were let down by another venue at very short notice, but The Taffs Well were very willing to accommodate us in style. Very friendly staff, superb menu and delicious food. Couldn't fault it! Thanks so much.

If you're hiking the nearby trails and are looking for a relaxed place to recover after, then the beer garden here is perfect. Staff were very patient as we came enmass needing a recovery adult beverage after the hike.

We ate Sunday Lunch here as a party of five, two vegans. First impressions: cosy, modern interior, spotlessly clean, and very attentive staff. The roast lamb lunch was well presented, with a side selection of carefully prepared vegetables including gourmet variety carrots. There was a vegan roast option too, although the vegans chose the burger which they both said was delicious. We were made to feel welcome, the food and service was consistently high, value for money was outstanding. We’ll be back, thank you!
