Don’t take your Nan here thinking you are treating her to a morning at a tea rooms, because you certainly are not. The furthest removed from tea rooms that it could possibly be. It’s just a pub selling breakfast baps‘s and Panini‘s. The coffee would have an Italian looking for something to hang himself from and the chips were the thickest, pretty disgusting and still raw in the middle thing I’ve eaten in a while along with a half filled anaemic baguette. The back garden gave me flash backs to Kosovo in 1996. Drink the beer, play skittles yes but don’t go here thinking you’re going to get a nice pot of tea and 10 cakes to choose from.

Lovely friendly pub. It's a bit like stepping back into the 1980s though. Traditional in look and feel and the clientele much the same.

No nasty "Bistro" revamp here. Just a friendly pub with an open fire for winter nights and a garden for the summer. Dog friendly too. Casks of Abbot Ale and London Pride.

It's been around 40 years since I last frequented this fine country pub.... It's a real drinking pub with Abbott Ale, one of the best beers in my opinion, on tap. In days gone by, barrels used to be on brick plinths and beer poured into the glass from wooden taps. Sadly one of the things that's changed as the breweries want their drinks metered. Will certainly visit again as the weather improves next year and the doors are opened to the rear garden. The publicans were lovely people, friendly and great conversation.

Michael and Sam run a great pub. Finest pint of Abbot in Northamptonshire. Warm welcoming, regulars are friendly. Great garden in the warmer days. Food will be available soon. Dog friendly pub. Skittles table, soon to part of the Skittles league. To be honest these days most pubs are not late drinking places, busy times are early with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Highly recommended.

I love this place. ..This pub is made by the local people who use it... There is no passing trade, so it's only people who know it's there which keeps it going.. Loose them, loose the pub ... If it keeps its identity and old charm it will do fine, if it changes to much it will become like the rest. ..Boring and clinical ...the locals will eventually dissappear so will the pub...

This pub is actually in Newton Bromswold not Rushden so the details need changing. It’s a great little pub in the true sense of the word. No food served at present but great beer and lovely views across the countryside from the conservatory or garden. Now under new management following the retirement of the previous landlord but just as good. Very friendly and quiet surroundings and it really needs some more local support. We can’t afford to lose these lovely old pubs so please pay it a visit if you can, you won’t be sorry.

Is in lovely setting in a sleepy village. Car park is small but plenty of parking spaces along the road. It is mainly a drinking pub but on Thursdays it is steak night. (Gammon is available for non beef eaters.) You won't get this price for your main course anywhere else . Food freshly cooked. Tables need to be booked in advance. On sundays you can try your luck with a small fee for raffles .Raffles prizes are Prizes normally are hunks of raw meat. Beers especially Abbot's Ale 5% is kept at the right temperature & is like 'honey dew'. The best in UK. Some people travel twenty odd miles just for Abbots Ale.

Locals country pub which hasn't been modernised a great deal. Friendly welcome and pleasant service though..... Good straightforward pub on the face of it but it doesn't make CAMRA Good Beer Guide. Hoped it might be a bit of a gem but... Beer-wise Greene King IPA drinkable but not particularly fresh. Bottle of Magners for one of the party was beyond the sell by date. Bottle of the classic Newcastle Brown a can't-go-wrong alternative. Guinness was fine. Shame! Will revert to the much better St John Arms near Melchbourne in future.

We called into the Swan half way round a circular bike ride. Not our first time in this pub, we had visited many years ago, and nothing had changed. Two pints of Abbot ordered, the landlord disappeared to fill the glasses direct from the barrel, very nice indeed. There were several other customers, obviously regulars, and it made for a pleasant atmosphere. We asked about food as it was lunch time, the landlord asked us what we fancied. No menu or prices, he just rattled off what he could provide - scampi, steak or ham with eggs, all with chips, sandwiches or rolls. We gave our order and the landlord disappeared to cook our meals. The food was quickly cooked to perfection, the steak and ham options, as pictures show. A good old fashioned pub, with a very obliging landlord, located in the small village of Newton Bromswold, near Rushden. Two very full and happy cyclists left to cycle back up the hill.

I've been a regular at The Swan for 12 years. On our very first visit we were made very welcome. There is no razzamatazz, just excellent beer, (particularly draught beers straight from the wood) and sensible, adult company provided by a host of regulars from local farmers, labourers, professional businessmen and women and many pensioners who gather regularly to enjoy the company of like-minded people. Basic food well cooked and presented.

Just came back from here after finding it by mistake, what a lovely quaint village pub this is,you walk in and instantly feel at home, there's definitely an atmosphere here. Only had a quick drink served by a lovely chatty lady, who by the time I had left felt as if I had known her for years. Apparently they do hot food Thursday & Saturday evenings and as it's so popular it might be worth while booking a table in advance. You have a darts board & skittles table, plus I noticed on the bar they had a cribbage board & cards. Outside is a small grassed area with tables & chairs and a smoking shelter, although if you vape your most welcome to do this inside the pub, which pleased me tonight. Will look forward to coming here on a cold winters night after I took note of the wood burner, this certainly would make the pub warm & cosy Overall I will definately go back and try the food & once I've done this I'll report back here.

I first visited this extremely quiet pub about 10 years and had a pint and a game of darts with a work colleague.I visited again recently and thankfully the pub had barely changed. The Swan is is in the small village of Newton Bromswold, about 2 miles from Rushden. There is ample car parking,a smoking area and the pub is dog friendly too.The Swan has a good sized garden and skittles and darts are played here .There is a smallish room which is now an eating area(do not remember that before)and although we only had drinks,we are going to book up to have dinner here shortly. An extremely cozy, warm and friendly pub that has retained so much of its charm by merely staying virtually the same.10/10.

We were led to believe this was above average - ho hum... Service, whilst friendly, was slow. Finding a wine list took some 20 minutes. After another reuest when it arrived it was crumpled and stained. As it was warm night we decided to eat outside - tables could have done with a good wipe, and the floor had obviously not seen a sweep for some time - cigarette ends all over the place. Menu was nothing more than average selection of pub food, and from arrival to food arriving took one hour. On the plus sign - food was hot, and acceptable, portion size - substantial. (No need for a starter.)

We stayed here on two occasions, in our campervan to the rear of inn. Quiet and good location. We enjoyed a nights sleep during both our stays. The staff at the inn are fabulous, welcoming and friendly and the owners are really doing a great job. The food was delicious and the ambiance of the inn was just what you’d hope for, log fire burning in the hearth, dog friendly and lots of positive chatter. I’d recommend this as a stopover and eatery.

Me and my husband arrived at the restaurant with our 6 month old for my sisters 18th birthday meal, we have been here on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed our time here, however this time was different. My mother had booked a table for 6 people and a baby , which was accepted over the phone, when we turned up we were greeted very rudely by a staff member , who pointed out children are not to be in the restaurant past 6 o clock, the lady then stated that this information is ‘plastered’ over the website, however when looking on the website there was nothing stating this, or certainly not ‘plastered’ all over it. I do understand rules are rules and I respect that, however the tone in which this information was delivered was very rude, it was almost as if we had brought in a disease, I really feel these rules need to be made more clear. Following this myself and my family left. We then headed over the road to the Duke of wellington where we were accommodated excellently by polite friendly staff , they even moved chairs around for us. We had a lovely meal , the food was so tasty, cheese board was great, worth every penny. We will not be returning to the love of wine, however the Duke of wellington we definitely will be.
