The Super Mare in North Somerset

I called up on Wednesday to ask about the pub quiz that is advertised on their website. I was told on the phone by a member of staff that it started on Thursday at 7pm. I then organised to meet my friends and booked a table under the “quiz night” option on the website. When we got there, we waited and then asked a member of staff who told us they haven’t been doing the quiz night since January. We wasted our time due to the first staff member just lying to me on the phone and the website advertising. It’s a shame because the pub is decent but this has made us question if we would want to return.

Great experience all around. The food was excellent—well-prepared, fresh, and nicely balanced in flavor. The atmosphere was relaxed but polished. What really stood out was the service. Our waiter, Brad, was professional, attentive, and knew the menu well. He struck the right balance of being available without hovering, and his recommendations were spot-on. Definitely a place worth returning to.

I have eaten at various Hungry Horse pubs and usually have gammon, but I have to say that I've had the best gammon steak right here in Somerset at the Super Mare. My compliments to the chef, would certainly recommend and will eat here again, should I ever be in the area again.

Jo was amazing. My son has autism and was very distressed that he could not sit at table 1, after family members tried to calm Noah Jo came over and offered Noah table 21. I want to thank Jo for making my sons mood and birthday a lot more special x

Waffles Benedict absolutely stunning and the kids had full English breakfast they loved it and my partner had full English also amazing value and service is excellent

Daily deals are well worth looking at as massive savings can be found Our personal favourite is Friday buy one burger get one free

It's a quick, cheap meal venue, more family oriented.

Good food, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff very reasonable

Drink quality is always good here, as is the service. Have had a couple of meals which were good too. Lovely garden. Always our ‘stop off point’ on the way back from weston as staff are always welcoming and friendly and it’s close to the motorway. It does get busy periods but we usually go around 5pm and it’s always ok then. Great for kids too 👍

Stopped here on the 17th May 2025 for a drink and some food. Was not too busy at the time so plenty of availabile parking. Were were asked upon arrival, greeted by a very friendly member of staff and was asked if we had booked which we had not, however was invited to find an unreserved table and order, brilliant 😀. All seems clean and tidy however some areas looked a bit tired. Gents WC's were ok but my wife said the ladies was awful. Food was ok to be fair and good size portions!! We would definitely dine here again. Using the app to order was a doddle.

Much improved overall. The food is excellent so are the staff. For a 'Family' style place to eat I think it beats it's rivals in this area. The menu is much better and plenty of deals each day. We haven't had a bad meal here and good value for money.

In response to your comment, I genuinely feel 3☆ was fair, the food is good, I can't give you 5☆'s the same score as Marco's. You have a nice pub & I will revisit because it cheap n cheerful & good value for money.

Brilliant food Tuesday offer amazing gammon on a sizzling plate

Was very good, good value for money, service was brilliant, minutes after ordering it was on the table, piping hot too...

A massive thanks to Jo and the staff at the Super Mare for hosting a family party / meal on Sat 10th May. 22 of us there so not easy for them but it was handled brilliantly with all food coming out on time and at the same time so nobody was without. Food was hot and very well cooked. Staff were all friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Made us all feel very welcome. Will definitely be back.

Sam was a delight, she brought me my pint with biggest smile on her face. The food was delicious and the service from Irene was even better, they even came and asked how it was. Would definitely recommend!!

Had food there not long ago, food was absolutely tasteless. Costa more and portions are a lot less, Onion rings barely cooked. Service was quick and staff polite. Full of unsupervised kids and kids basically almost naked running around. Really putting us off the place. Used to have lovely food but now food tastes horrible or doesn’t have any flavour. Second time we’ve have a bad experience, don’t think we’ll return again as it’s a waste of money now. Most items were out of stock and very few options to choose from.

The staff are brilliant at this place friendly great everyone with a smile the manageress is really nice to all including the children has a joke with them. Will keep coming back to the place to eat

Ella was brilliant, nothing seems to much bother for her which made our visit feel even more special. everything was done with a smile, Food was served very quickly and was piping hot and tasted so good made even more better by the fact I didn't need to cook it!!! Highly recommend.

Bank Holiday Madness! After an exhausting day on the seafront, what better place to eat cheap and cheerful, family friendly but delicious! The dog even came too which there is a sectioned area out the front and in the restaurant for furry pooches! An inviting environment, where staff are welcoming & polite. The food is great and an added bonus there is a play park for the children in the garden. All the staff work hard to go above and beyond for the customers with excellent service qualities. The kids very much enjoyed their ice creams too! Thankyou for the visit and we will be back again no problem!

This place is consistently always going above and beyond. I don't think there has been a time where I have been here and been disappointed. The food is prompt, and even though it can be quick to come out, it's always good quality. The play area is well maintained and my son always has a lovely time. Emily, Ella, Jo, Irene (and the rest!) are all really friendly.

We went for lunch on a Wed at around 1pm. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table. As one of our party is disabled the took extra care to ensure that we were happy with the table and comfortable. We ordered food and drinks at the bar and served by a really friendly and helpful team member. The food was brought out quite quickly and I have to say was the tastiest I have eaten in year. I had triple gammon with chips, peas and onion rings. Absolutely delicious. The barman was very friendly and helpful to us helping to make sure that we ordered everything we needed. The restaurant was clean, warm and so welcoming. Toilets were immaculate. I was on holiday from Kent visiting family, but will certainly be on back when we go to visit again. Many thanks to you all.

Visited on Good Friday in the evening. Had booked a table. Was asked to order using the app if possible which we did but it meant that interaction with any staff was minimal. Haven’t been to a Hungry Horse for years but from memory, was looking forward to a good amount of food at a reasonable price. Unsure what happened to my sad bacon and cheese burger. As pictured, it was very sad. One teeny bacon slice and no sauce whatsoever. Also barely a handful of fries. My husband had the mini mixed grill which he enjoyed though. Sports on the tv was quite loud. Probably wouldn’t visit again because there are other pubs closer by to us that we’ve tried and tested. Bit of a shame.

Just visited with my mum and little boy who is 3. The staff were amazing, and I especially wanted to say a big thank you to Irene who was just lovely with my little boy and have him an Easter egg which just made his day! I have one super happy boy and we will definitely be recommending and visiting again. The food was lovely, and even the lady who brought out our food was super polite.

People were lovely and very kind to our little girl. Food was tasty and well priced!

Easter bunny breakfast was well presented. EllA F our server was fantastic. Her customer service was outstanding. She was great with our little girl. Nothing was too much trouble even though she was very busy. She's a credit to your company.

It's all becoming automated! Scan the code, order on the app! Did it work! Flawlessly! Quick and exact! Just impersonal! Might as well have been a cafeteria with a wall of plastic doors to pick your food from. The food was cheap, volumous. If this all you want then the super-mare is perfect, functional and a success. Just not for me.

It's a bit out of the way on a busy road but the food, drink and staff have always been great here

15 of us turned up to order had good food and friendly staff all food was very good and we didn't have a long wait plus it wasn't overly expensive a real win win

Pop in after work to watch the football and have a beer and some thing to eat. Because I was my own move me twice because of bigger tables. The food I had wasn’t that nice.

Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon. The staff managed to find us a table near the kitchen. The food was good and service was quick. The kitchen door banged every time someone walked through it which became very irritating. The overall decor is rather tired and has the token filthy carpets which seems to be common in hungry horse.
