Great music, unsure about food

Staff not friendly, poor selection of beers. The place looks and feels like it is being run down (may be trying to turn it into flats?) this use to be a great pub, I will not be going back😥

Not been for a while, but went tonight to celebrate my 70th and was disappointed. Unsure if it's changed hands, but different bar staff and different DJ, nothing like it used to be.

Went for drinks on a Friday night, there was an amazing disco on playing music from all eras. There were drinks offers on and was reasonably priced for a town centre pub.

I went in with my friend and my dog . My dog and another had been playing and they were thirsty so we asked at the bar if they could give us some water for the dogs and we were told that the dog bowl had been stolen so they couldn't give us any water . I ended up nipping 2 the charity shop and buying a tin bowl so they could have a drink . I'm sure they would have had something they could have put water in

Top place, great prices...great staff. Love the Sun Inn.... I call it my local!,as I don't live in town...atmosphere great...prices brilliant...it will always be my favourite pub...give it a try,you'll love it.

Drinks are incredibly cheap but if you like to spend your time with druggies and complete drunks then this is the place to be

Good music, but I thought George Michael had died but turns out he works here. All seriousness though it's a decent pub but could do with a good IPA on draft or some cans or something for people like me but music was great and tv in for sports in every alcove. They seemed to allow well behaved dogs but I would ask as you walk in.

Liveliest but friendliest bar in Chesterfield. Had a great couple of nights here with the top class bar staff and DJ and will no doubt call in next time we're in town.

Brilliant pub with amazing staff, made us feel so welcome, me and my partner (Katie) absolutely loved it, such a good atmosphere. Best in the town and we tried them all and made this our adopted local. Couldn't wait for our daily visits. We will be back soon I hope.

Landlord is fabulous. Actually speaks to his customers & genuinely cares about their views. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff who you can have a laugh with.

AVOID THIS BAR!!!! over charged and took advantage of a single girl ordering drinks! Charged £5 for a single vodka and coke. And when the manager was challenged on the situation he told us to “F*CK OFF OUT OUT BAR” do not go to this bar!!!!!! Avoid at all costs!! Very rude! Very unprofessional!!!!

Good down to earth pub. Only popped in for drinks. Made to feel welcome by the blonde barmaid who was friendly and jokey.

Nipped in one Saturday night for a swift one, stayed a lot longer, DJ was on playing a mixture of 80's/90's and modern day music, filled up quickly around 9pm,drinks were well priced, 2 bottles for a fiver, pint of Carling and Carlsberg both less than £3,there was a good crowd in enjoying the music plus great to see this pub open.

15 of us travelled to Chesterfield from Langley Mill on Sat 31st July for my birthday. The bar staff were extremely friendly, very efficient and made us all welcome. There we're a couple doing a disco , which played fantastic dance music 🎶 and all our requests. We more or less took over the pub. Thank you for your kind hospitality. We will definitely be back. I used to have a drink in the Sun Inn many years ago when working locally. Called in recently to see the newly refurbished Pub. Friendly service and reasonable prices. The Pub has a more modern look despite the traditional exterior. Covid restrictions were followed and a pleasant experience was had.

Love this place, warm friendly welcome.. we always go when we stay in Chesterfield.

Now part of The Hawthorn Leisure Empire after initial disappointment with a few ex Spoons pubs they have a done a Craft Union pub is spacious with beer garden that could be better if permission and money was available but nothing to moan about breathing new life into what has been a very good pub in its time.

Visited Chesterfield this weekend,for a meet up with friends..Called in round lunch time for a drink and were quite impressed with the place...It has a warm friendly atmosphere and everywhere was very clean,especially the toilets,which makes a nice change..Went back in the evening for a couple of hours and had a great evening..Drinks reasonably priced,and we again received a warm welcome..We are back in Chesterfield again in a few weeks,and will definitely be paying a visit.. First visit here friendly staff 3 real ales I was drinking Banks's not seen that for a long time also reasonable price £2.50 a pint

Massive improvements throughout, once clientele is similar then it will become a top venue.

Decent pub pop in if you're in the area and have a pint in nice friendly surroundings

Lovely bar man and free jukebox

I usually park here because it's cheaper when doing a quick errand. There have been times when the machine was out of order but I still paid because I use Pay by Phone because I don't want to get fined when there is am alternative way of paying. The day I was fined the park was particularly busy. As I drove in someone was coming out so I waited then parked in their recently vacated parking space. The parking meter was new with a new code so I needed to redo my parking app. I paid via the app and went about my business. I returned, opened my car door and turned down the window as it was very hot that day. Waited for the steering wheel to cool down and off I went. A month later I receive a £60 fine from Smart Parking stating that I did not put the correct amount in and that I had overstayed by 6 minutes coming in and 8 minutes going out. So now I disputing because I was back to my car at the correct time but due to circumstances didn't leave straight away... So be careful if you park, you need to according to Smart Pay, pay from the time you enter to the time you exit! Needless to say I'd be using proper car parks from now on who give you a proper grace period and do not try to extort money fraudulently. I do have my parking receipt to show the time my ticket was purchased and for how long. But smart parking doesn't take into consideration the fact that the car park is small and it might take a some time to get parking if someone else is parking or leaving or if the beer truck is blocking exit or entrance.... So BEWARE!

Didn't actually visit the Pub, but beware of the sdmall car park to the rear of the pub. A rip-off parking company called ParkingEye manage the car park and have a tendency to rip off the public and charge between £60 and £100 for the priviledge of parking - even when you have a ticket. BEWARE.

Great service, landladies are both welcoming, pub has never been ran this well before, used to come in all the time and it was empty now you're meeting new friendly people each day as the pub is always full

What a lovely place very welcoming and in a great spot. Over the road from The Portland Hotel with parking at the rear (metered). If you want a nice quite drink at reasonable prices you can't do any better. You are just off from the bustle of the town centre but in easy walking distance

I first came here last year but I was very disappointed with the standards , however I register as I heard it was taken over. To my delight it was clean and a great choice of drinks. A great night out Thanks guys
