The Stumble Inn in Powys

I am not sure how much the meal cost as i was on a coach trip and so the meal was in with the trip .it is a lovely place the roast dinner and apple crumple and custard was great could not fault the service all the staff where very welcoming and friendly would defiantly go back this is the second time i have visited and would go back next year

Three of us went here in July this year and I had to come back to write a review. We ‘Stumbled’ across this pub and it didn’t disappointed! All the tables were reserved for Sunday lunch, which speaks for itself, but the landlord sorted us out the last table by adding an extra chair. I thought it felt ‘pub’ cosy and the food was off the chart. Best roast by far. Simple but absolutely delicious! The turkey and beef were faultless and the cabbage had the best seasoning! We had broccoli cheese and baby potatoes too. We went back a few days later (without a reservation) and they were once again fully booked. If you’re lucky enough to get a table here, you won’t be disappointed.

A most unfriendly welcome, and basically told to go away. No problem! Edit to add, as the owner has responded; we drive past, oh that looks a nice place to eat, we walk in, literally greeted with, and the only sentence said to us: "Whatever you want, we're full". Not, "hello, how are you - apologies, the restaurant is full this evening". There's a way to talk to potential customers, and that isn't it.

Friendly welcome, a huge choice on menu and delicious food. I had Chicken Korma and my husband had the steak pie. He said it was the best pie he'd ever eaten! Prices good value to. Would recommend and return if in the area.

Very tasty Sunday Roast. Even though it was actually fully booked, they gave us a place in the bar room. Nice host, good portions, good prices.

My wife and I Visited here with friends on there recommendation. Has you drive through the village if you blink you'd miss it. The owner was very friendly, helpful and loved banter (even with his Man utd shirt on. There is a excellent choice on the menu and the food was fresh and piping hot. Worth a revisit.

First time visit. The landlord Dave was very welcoming, told jokes and made us feel very welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, piping hot and accomodated our required variations of potatoes etc. Highly recommend and definitely recommend.

Helo,my mum and I stopped here on the off chance of some Sunday lunch as we were returning from Llyn Efernwy and it was the 19th of May. We initially stopped for a soft drink and sat in the garden. It was a beautiful afternoon and there was a group of four in the garden praising the lunch. We decided to order and we weren't disappointed. It was delicious! I even had a play with the pubs dog in the garden. A lovely find and well worth a visit. I hope it will do well during the Eisteddfod week .

We decided to try this pub after passing by and checking g reviews. We were not disappointed. We phoned and booked a table, we had a friendly greeting and great service. Food was very nice and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended

Our party of four stopped at the Stumble Inn for Sunday Lunch while passing through Bwlch-y-cibau and were blown away. The staff were warm and welcoming and took our orders promptly. Our food arrived swiftly and was fabulous; the best roast dinners we’ve had in a very long time. The portions were generous, the meat fabulously cooked and we could have eaten a bowl of the flavoursome mixed greens on their own. The homemade puddings were lovely and well priced, as was all the food. We sat in the beer garden which has a fabulously kept lawn and a view of the village church which made for a delightful experience — we were even able to watch the local tractor run. I wish this was my local!

Another excellent meal at the stumble inn with great service from all the team. Great selection on the menu and all of our family were very happy with their choices. The veggie lasagne is amazing!!! Awesome chef!! Great hosting by Dave who always creates a great atmosphere. Be back again very soon

Food and service up to usual good standard and a good pint.

We are on a family holiday and visited the stumble inn for an evening meal. When we got there we had a lovely warm welcome off the manager. They didn’t start serving food until 6pm however we had our two girls with us and started on our order straight away. The manager cracked some really funny jokes which kept us all entertained. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The food was AMAZING especially the t bone steak it was cooked to perfection. Deserts just as good especially the biscoff cheesecake. Thank you for making our visit fantastic. If we are in wales again we will definitely be paying another visit :)

We had a delicious veggie daal and a lovely rib eye steak. Such yummy food - the type that leaves you wonderfully warm and full. Had the most amazing sticky toffee pudding for dessert - it was probably the best we’ve ever tasted. Can also recommend the chocolate fudge cake. Landlord entertained us with his tales and sarcasm (and cheese jokes - he’s got hundreds 😄). We’ve been a few times before and will definitely be back again. Thank you!

Best roast dinner of my life, genuinely think I may as well stop eating them now because nothing will ever match up to how much I enjoyed this! The owners were lovely and the pub has a really nice atmosphere. We were really lucky to get in without booking but would definitely recommend booking to make sure you can get a table as we saw some people get turned away after us as was fully booked. Also a plus point that it was dog friendly which was great for our dog.

Mine hosts husband and wife were a treat very welcoming lovely old world style pub not many left now well presented a real pleasure to visit hopefully a return visit soon 😊

Great hosts and excellent food - catering well for our vegetarians and carnivores alike. The Talisman beer on offer was much appreciated and well kept.

Sadly the attitude of the gentleman (I use that term lightly) behind the bar was not very nice. He snapped at someone who asked for a tea, saying he does not employ a barista. He was very short with us when we asked a question, we left and went elsewhere

14 of us came here today at short notice and they couldn't have been more welcoming. The Sunday 3 meat roast was beautiful. Everyone of our party really enjoyed their food. Prices were very reasonable too.

We had a meal for four people, two of us had lasagne one had gammon and one had chicken balentine. The food was delicious - cooked to perfection! Thanks for a great evening.

Visited for the first time for our 20th wedding anniversary, we ordered steaks each and they tasted fantastic, for desert we had the raspberry pavlova ohhhh my gosh they arrived they were so beautiful it was almost a shame to eat them but we was over joyed the flavours were spot on. We would happily recommend to family and friends. The owner was also fantastic and was a joy to chat too.

After not finding any open restaurants around where we were staying, we decided to call The Stunmble Inn. And it did not disappoint! We had a table booked for us, all the locals were super friendly and the food was phenomenal!we both had steaks and they were perfect! Drinks were great as well and the whole service was flawless. Would definitely recommend to any hungry traveller who finds himself in need of a hearty meal!

We had a dining voucher as a Wedding Gift 🎁 for the Stumble Inn, we live locally and have dined before…but not on a Sunday Lunch. The menu was appealing and lots of good choice 👍, today we opted for the breaded mushrooms - it was tasty indeed, hot, plenty of (strong) garlic mayonnaise and a colourful side salad. Main course we had a Lamb Roast & a Beef Roast - outstanding plates, meats tender and melt in the mouth with roasties and a carrot / swede mash. Good portions of side vegetables also, flavoursome and plentiful. Staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. Prices very reasonable and fitting for the current food costs situation nationwide. As a bonus, we left with 2 Goose Eggs - 2 for a pound, breakfast 🍳sorted for Monday morning. Will be back again with the outlaws for another Sunday lunch soon ☺️

Fantastic warm welcome for us and the dogs. We were early for dinner but hungry so they kindly opened the kitchen for us. Excellent food in a cosy setting. We would highly recommend.

After numerous fantastic Sunday lunches at The Stumble Inn, decided to book for New Years Eve. Wow, what a meal. 5 courses which were all fantastic and for £40 each was a bargain. This was no budget menu - lots of choices for all courses including fillet steak which was one of the best hubby had ever eaten. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Reasonable pub food in good location with decent real ales

Been here a number of times now, food is always excellent and service spot on, landlord is great and is always pleasant and keeps the grandkids entertained with his jokes.

Nice little place. Food was good with large portions that you dont always get. Also has a beer garden at the side. Only thing letting it down was the swings were so loud may be need oiling or maintaining. Not relaxing in the beer garden at all because of it the people next to us left early and they seemed too busy to tell someone about it. Shame as apart from that it's a really nice pub restaurant, worth a visit and not far from lake vrywy.

Would I describe this place as 'ok" or even 'adequate ' only if I was feeling somewhat mean or got out of bed the wrong side as they say.But according to Dave the owner this comment has been left.Anyhow, quirky interior, bar used as extention to restaurant in quieter times.I thought the menu was great,unpretentious pub grub with an emphasis on quality as well as quantity. Moroccan lamb tagine was great, maybe served in a tagine would have been a nice touch.Service also swift and polite and bookings seem to be spaced so as not to stress Chef ! Overall,I will go again and recommend to others.Judging by the fact that I could only get one a 6.30 booking tells you how popular this place is so Dave &Co you must be doing something right.Oh yeah the car park was adequate almost OK 👍

After a long period of isolation it was a double pleasure to eat out at this lovely hidden jem in Mid Wales. We have used the Stumble Inn on numerous occasions and each visit has been excellent. This was our first Sunday lunch out for some considerable time and we were really looking forward to being looked after. We were very pleased with the quality of food, the quality of welcome and also the service. What a find! A traditional country pub with the warmest of welcomes.Had Sunday lunch which was faultless. Great choice of meats (plus good veggie options) with a great array of accompanying fresh vegetables, all cooked to perfection and great value for money.It's understandably busy so booking is advised but plenty of room in the restaurant and bar.We visited with friends and found the Stumble to be a real 'home from home' where hours pass without you even noticing!

We enjoyed the food today but we thought maybe more veg. When our plate was delivered it had on it 2 roast potatoes and one slice of beef, tablespoon of mash carrots and one small yorkshire pudding. On the table they placed a bowl of cabbage and new potatoes just enough to go round - but more cabbage than potatoes. The food was really good but perhaps a slice more meat

7 of us took a long walk to here for lunch Saturday afternoon. Probably the warmest welcome we’ve ever had. The food was delicious especially the chicken tikka wrap. Our kids had a great time and again were made to feel welcome. They even helped us get back to our holiday home when we realised we were a little stranded! Great time had by all thank you.

I find that once again I have to put pen to paper and thank the staff of the Stumble Inn, Bwlch y Cibau for another lovely Sunday lunch. My wife and myself had three of our eight grandchildren staying with us last weekend and decided to take them out for a Sunday lunch. We all enjoyed a really a super lunch at the Stumble. We've been returning to the Stumble Inn a few times now in recent years and the food and friendly service has always been second to none. There is masses of choice on the menu of tasty, high quality meals and the portions are extremely generous and cater to all types.The pub area is cosy and also offers food as well as the more formal and stylish sit-down restaurant area. Be sure to book as Elaine's culinary skills are unsurprisingly always in high demand.The locals are friendly and fun and you can even bring your dog along for a fuss and a warm welcome.What's not to like! :)

We stumbled upon (excuse the pun) this little gem of a pub while staying in the local area. There aren’t a lot of places to eat locally, as it’s a very rural, so we expecting your standard ‘pub grub’ type meal. We couldn’t have been more wrong! The menu was very extensive & had adventurous & different options! I have coeliac disease, which was catered for fantastically. All items on the menu which are gluten free or adaptable are highlighted & there is a separate gluten free dessert section - very impressed. Portion sizes were generous & the food was delicious. I had duck which was cooked to perfection & the lamb shank jus was one of the best We’ve ever had!The landlord & landlady were very friendly.. they even taught us how to play dominoes! This pub has a very ‘village-pub’ feel, as all the locals were chatty & welcoming. The food however is definitely not ‘village-pub’.. we would definitely recommend!

Great stop off for a ploughman’s and couple of ciders with our pup! Lovely food, great people and a fantastic garden complete with some toys to keep the dog entertained! Really reasonable prices too. Highly recommended.

Great food at a good price. In mid wales for our holiday and popped in with our 3 boys for a meal on our anniversary. We were not disappointed. We all enjoyed our meal choices, and found the pub to be very friendly. Dog friendly too

We have been using the facilities of the lovely Stumble Inn for numerous years, I admit mainly on a Sunday but at times during the mid week. Never, ever , ever been disappointed -a centre of excellence in both service and food quality. If your needs are for something different, perhaps not- but for quality of service, and value -please give the Stumble a try. I would be very surprised if you are disappointed. Manager and owner is quite a character. Enjoy true Welsh value.
