Lovely place to have a birthday party.

Called in today, greated with a lovely welcome, great choice on the menu and a carvery. Our food was cooked perfectly, we asked to see the chef to thank him, Craig was really nice and happy to chat for a few minutes. We will be back.

Decent pub, but it is a plastic pub. I've given 4* for food. It's far from the nicest, I think some is pre-made/packaged/frozen as the quality just isn't there - but I think this is the same as other Green King pubs. It's plastic pub food - you should know what to expect. OK but not great. Beers / Soda's are always served perfectly and chilled perfectly. I'm diabetic and often pubs get my order wrong which causes health problems (I need sugar free alternatives). The storyteller has always got it right. Cocktails are available - the mixes are done right, not the greatest (e.g.daiquiris use mixes, not real fruit) but I think these recipes are dictated by Green King too and they're perfectly serviceable for what they are. The reason for the review is the lovely accommodating staff who really will move heaven and earth for you. Good atmosphere and good facilities too. Always clean and tidy, and always welcoming to people of all ages and walks of life & they don't mind you having a laugh. Find ourselves here for a drink and some food often, sometimes with kids, sometimes with grandparents.

First time here in a few years, I visited with my sister and my 1 year old. The food was lovely, fast at coming out but they weren't overly busy. I had the chicken with the Parmesan sauce and cheese and my sister opted for the BBQ sauce and bacon topped chicken. My little one had fish fingers, chips and peas. Food was fresh, chicken was not dry at all and service was lovely and staff friendly. I wouldn't say it was bad priced either. I will visit again.

Me and my best friend went here to celebrate her 24th birthday the atmosphere was amazing food was to die for we both had a carvery only one bad thing was the roasts wasn’t nice taste like they been warm up repeatedly but other then that staff was friendly rest of the food was lovely definitely come again price is fair for what you pay for We met a wonderful lady called Rachel she kept checking in on us through out our stay she was warm welcoming and friendly very polite she very fast on her feet great service if you come here please give her the love and positivity that she gave us during our time here thank you for making our day even more special ☺️ x

One of the best carvery's in the area. Nice spacious pub and modern clean indoor soft play for the kids (chargeable). Nice outdoor play area for the summer months. Lots of outdoor (hut) seating with heaters.

second times visit, ordered standard carvery, standard fish and chips, hunter chicken, lasagne. they all were tasty, value for money. the fish was not too small and was coated with crispy batter.

Me and my partner were greeted and served by a member of staff called Amy. She had been brilliant, polite & consistent throughout our stay. She is a credit to your company. One thing I would comment on is the Carrots on this occasion. Some were extremely undercooked, almost inedible. Apart from that, food was lovely.

Came in to eat and relax and that is exactly what I got! From perfect service by the wonderful Paige and excellent food from the chefs in the kitchen, I felt I was relaxing at a hotel! Give the girl a raise she worked her socks off from what I was seeing!

We stopped in for a drink whilst out shopping and went out to the play park. The area seems a little run down but otherwise it's your standard Greene King, decent food for decent prices. Ample parking.

Lovely staff carvery looked nice but I only popped in for a snack.

We arrived here and the staff were very welcoming and helpful so we had absolutely no problem with the staff at all however the food was the worst we’ve ever been served anywhere. The gammon had no taste at all and it was on quite a dry breadcake with a thick layer of margarine on it. The worst bit were the roast potatoes which looked to be very bad quality frozen ones. Not a bit of colour on them and a strange texture and smell. They weren’t edible at all, we left very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Lovely breakfast friendly and welcoming and good on price

I went here for breakfast with my grandchildren, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, there was a play centre for the children with the option of eating outside. The staff were lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I will be returning when I next come to see my grandchildren. Highly recommend for families

I had the pleasure of having a full breakfast, staff were friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and the service was quick. Will definitely be visiting again when I return to Rotherham

Well the biggest burger advertised was definite not the biggest burger as seen standed burgers come out looking bigger was very disappointing. And a very rude member of staff came to empty plates wilst I was eating just because 1 of the children had finished yet there was 3 children and 2 adults at the table old blond hair excessive weight sorry I don't know how to description her to be polite but definite needs some training as this is rude and should never happen you only take plates if all done meaning falls and knifes of plates or the table is empty definitely not when people are still eating and the ice cream has way to much cream in not enough ice cream that was watery Apert from that very lovley carvary

We came today 20/07/24 for dinner. We each had a carvery. The food was lovely the staff we and the place was clean and tidy. We will definitely be returning

The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is for the only fact that the meat slices are not to the standard of size not thickness. And the roast potatoes was not very nice at all. But all round the meat was cooked well an the veg was lovely. Gravy gorgeous/onion. I know from working in a carvery pub that the slices of meat should be to a certain weight but what was given was not a slice. Maybe a chef that's had more experience would know this.. keep up the good work and the friendly service. Well enjoyed after a days fishing

Yes the Storyteller usually does a good Carvery so we booked for six people for Father's Day and surprisingly it wasn't that busy hardly a queue at the bar and the Carvery so far so good, the service was good the ambiance nice and relaxing, so we all tucked in to our Carveries and generally all good the only thing that let it down was the beef it was on the chewy side but then again beef can be like that sometimes.

Took my daughter and grandson for lunch, we had the carvery, and it was delicious 😋 would recommend it highly. The chef and staff were very welcoming and helpful too, so all in all I very good day out.

The server and people on carvery went out of there way to help me food and service is amazing! 1000 percent be back again !

We visit quite regularly, usually for the carvery, and always book a specific table in advance, as it caters for my mobility needs. Unfortunately some rude people choose to ignore the 'reserved' sign on the table. A few times now we have arrived to find people sat there when other tables are available, putting me.in the uncomfortable position of having to ask them to move, and explain why I need that particular table. People who have any decency are understanding and find a different table, but some do not. I think the staff are great, very friendly and very hard working, but I feel more should be done to stop people sitting at reserved tables, although it says more about the people who do it and refuse to move than I does about the staff. The food is always good, whether it's a carvery or something from the menu, and reasonably priced. Ive had many meals from the menu and never found reason to complain. Still our go-to pub for cheap grub, i just hope in future when we reserve a specific table, more effort is made to keep the table free. EDIT: I gave a 4 star review for our overall experience of the food and hospitality over a period of time, not for the way this particular situation was handled. We accepted the compromise but feel, as we had booked that particular table for a particular reason, that we were not the ones who should have been offered alternative seating arrangements. I'm not one to let a poor experience distort my overall view, after many good ones. But it should be understood that this was a very poor experience and was not handled well.

Went for a carvery food very good

What does it take to reserve a table and make sure that the table of choice will be waiting for you, and not already occupied by people who say that it did have a reserved sign on it but staff said its OK. No, it's not OK. My son reserves the same table because he is on crutches due to severe rheumatoid arthritis and he can somehow raise himself up and get seated with minimum discomfort at that table. They are regulars at this establishment unlike myself, but I have been with them when this has happened. Your staff need training on how to support valued customers and follow requirements.

The food from the carvery was very nice however served by a very rude man called John. His customer skills need looking at. When we asked for gravy that wasn’t like water he replied with you will have to wait 15 minutes cos ya know which by then our dinner would be cold. Failed to do anything about replating food or keeping the customer happy Several customers complained about the gravy but he still didn’t nothing about it. My son wasn’t happy with how he spoke to his mum. Very rude

Very nice carvery and reasonably priced!

Came on my way fir my weekend walk place just opened spoke to male who was behind the bar extremely friendly asked about breakfast explained menu asked him for glass of water. Did not try charge me for the water like other places food came served by the man very very clean place. Will be their again on my travels

Greene King Pub - at the better end of the scale, nice to have a choice of ales.

Sunday 4pm, walked in looking for a table for two, met with a lovely smile, escorted to table. We went with the carvery for £10 and it was absolutely lovely. Both beef and gammon cooked to perfection, wide range of vegetables and a nice pint of IPA. Excellent!

Nice roast, didn't like their potatoes but everything else was nice

As the place was very busy we expected a wait , altogether about 25/30 mins so not too bad with the number of people in the pub. Ordering was very easy. The menu was set out so you could find what you wanted without too much fuss. The meals were cooked to perfection, hot fries,chicken, onion rings all still hot and the cheese burger my husband had, that came with a jug of homemade cheese sauce was perfect We have been to other pubs for meals but this one out shines 99% of them .

Pretty standard for a Greene King, but plenty of seating space and some quieter tables can be found. Food is good and consistent for a carvery. My wife and I come here as our local option.

Worst food ever paper thin meat new potatoes rock hard, roast potatoes dry as a bone don't know how they did that cooked in beef dripping supposedly. Usualy eat at Elmwood Farm same company much better food prepared.

Decor was rather tired. Food was ok, though the veg with our roast was undercooked. Staff were friendly and helpful

What a lovely place! I've been to a few greene King places, but this one was just great. A lovely atmosphere and a great carvery. Just what we wanted after a busy morning round the park way.

Table of 7 on mother's day food was awful & staff avoid our table trying not to acknowledge it. I had 3 plates 1st served was all cold. Send time the nachos were over cooked, chillie dried & even the sour cream was hot so obviously not a fresh dish. The prawn were tasteless & rubbery. The crust chillie beef was very cris but the just about editable.

I came in the other day with my family I think there was 8 of us and we had main menu and carvery and the food was so nice I wanted more and the service we got was so good chloe I think it said on her badge she was so polite and so welcoming even the bar and the floor staff was so nice asking if I wanted any desserts or any drinks, I will definitely be coming back

This is my favourite place to eat, the staff are so welcome. You feel chilled and relaxed. It’s very tidy when you walk in, one thing I did notice was at the end of the carving station needed cleaning but I do understand times are busy.

Just been tonight, absolutely great fish and chips, better than the Harvester went to last week. My wife's steak also really good. We'd certainly go again but its a 30 mile round trip - when next visiting the retail park however it will be certain for another meal here.

They discriminate against special needs children. Banned a child from returning due to her ‘dangerous behaviour’ if it was so dangerous why did they wait until the family was leaving to ban her? Oh but she’s allowed there on SEND nights?! Disgusting - boycott this place!

We were very much looking forward to having a nice carvery here today. We've been here before and had main menu and quite enjoyed it so at just before 12pm we arrived and we're seated by a lovely team member. As for some reason we can order everything but carvery on the app we went to the bar to place our order and were helped quickly by another lovely colleague. Then the food...I had turkey which was chewy and fatty. The carrots, brocoli and red cabbage were massively hard, cold and undercooked. I get people like veg cooked differently but this was almost raw veg. The cauliflower cheese was watery and rock hard too. Compared to the Stonehouse (young vanish) we visited last week greene king are way behind. As I sat down to eat it became apparent that I'd poured Lukewarm gravy on my food. Within 5 mins my whole meal was stone cold. Not that I wanted to eat it anyway at this point. I really do not like to complain but this was truly awful food that set us back over £40 inc drinks. The staff are doing their best and were all lovely but the food just wasn't good with the exception of the roast parsnips. I don't understand how food can even be like that so early in the day? We've been to Kingsmill farm and Donkey Derby which I believe are the same chain and were both good but today's visit to The Storyteller was very dissapointing foodwise.

Booked a table sun 4th Feb when we arrived was shown to our table went to get our food once we sat down we realised we were sat under air con asked member of staff if it could b turned off in which she said no they had no control over it so we rushed our food down before it went cold on leaving the premises I stop another member of staff who turned out to be in charge and told him that the the cold air con had spoilt our visit in whitch he replied it could have been turned off if I had asked them and explained I had asked for it to be tuned off and was told it couldn't he then apologised and that was that bit disappointed arrived at 3.45 left by 4.15

Could've done with a clean where we sat. Tables were sticky and floor looked like a bomb had gone off. Food was ok.

Not good booked a kids 5year olds party here and was told we could only have 10 adults there to 15plus kids so we said no and they agreed to sort the space for us but as family arrived they was given attitude and told to sit away from the party table so as I arrived my partner went straight to women and told her to get it sorterd are we want a refund but the attitude and how staff acted towards us was disgusting so would not recommend having partys here as kids only played 15mins before they brought the food out whoch the only got 10mins to eat before they cleared all food away and then we got rushed out about 20mins after and paid 150 for the party and was charged extra 50 on the day for extra kids who did not play are eat .

Went today for lunch well what can i say absolutely terrible.Yorkshire puddings were like cardboard literally mashed potatoes were definitely definitely instant and the carrots were rock hard.Wont be going again

Fish came out oily and overcooked, after sending it back, another was cooked but it came back frozen on the inside. My dad's steak was too tough and chewy he left most of it. Very disappointing family meal. I won't be coming back.

We were informed on arrival that the menu had a 45 min wait, but the carvery was available immediately. Consequently we had the carvery which was good.

Didn't eat wouldn't want to, Not an experience I want to repeat, service ok but no where near enough bar staff so really slow, drinks ok.

THE CARVERY The carvery itself is very good apart from meat is very sparse and thinly sliced.Need more meat to be served.

Had our great granddaughters birthday party plenty of seating meals average price though drinks are expensive.

Went with friends to the play area. 4 adults 5 children. We tried to use 2 4 person tables as we are a group of 9 people. The till woman (older woman with a lisp/odd way of talking I’m uncertain of which) came and said we could have one table for the adults, we asked where the children are to sit, she pointed to the other end of the room as some long tables with children’s chairs, so effectively we can’t actually sit with our children while they eat. One of the children is disabled and needs support while eating and to sit down in between playing, young children don’t want to sit isolated on their own but would of had too given what the till woman said. Been coming for years but won’t come back after this experience and will tell friends and family not too either.

1st time trying this establishment, myself and my partner enjoyed the food ,not our usual menu as we like the flaming grill menus but still filled us up The staff were very friendly and helpful,not sure if we would come again,I had a burger which tasted a bit tough on the outside but tasty nonetheless, partner had hunters chicken she enjoyed it but prefers the hunters chicken skillet on the greene king flaming grill menu.

Beautiful carvery , good choice of veg. Staff helpful and pleasant. Can't beat the cost for the quality.
