The Stitching Pony in Kettering

Both myself and a friend of mine were spiked in this pub 25/10/24. Kettering town is a dangerous place to go recently. I wouldn't recommend.

Only been once. but friendly good beer great garden plus sport on.

Extremely friendly bar staff, great deals on drinks, and because it's a traditional pub, and not a restaurant, there are no children running around. There's different things going on most nights and live music on Sundays. Customers are friendly and have good banter with the bar staff.

Not been in this pub for a few years, the beer was good and cheap. The rock music was excellent.

This is a pub. Sounds strange but it doesn't have any fanciness. It has cosy alcoves to hide in for a chat. The staff are pleasant and quick. On the night we were there it was a rock / punk night. It was nice to see a full house. As for the age group it varied from 18 to 60. I must say the drink was cheap with offers galore. Call in see for yourself.

Excellent today , staff were dealing with various football matches , and kept everyone happy .Nothing was to much trouble .

Good place to meet, although the music is a little loud when trying to talk.

False advertising. There are no ponies in there at all especially ones with seamstress skills.

It's a good well priced local pub. No pretence just relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Staff are friendly, cider is good.

Unfortunately I cannot give the Stitching Pony more than 1 star due to the fact I was denied entry to the door under their dress code. No jogging bottoms allowed - now generally I have no issues with dress code because what the pub says, goes. The issue is I had an operation recently, jogging bottoms are currently the only comfortable trousers I can actually wear. Jeans etc (and normally my go-to) trousers are incredibly uncomfortable for me. I explained my situation to the security door staff, while not sympathetic and unwilling to change their minds (It's their policy, not ours) they were very polite, their only offer was 'Can I go home and change?' which wasn't an option. In the end we found somewhere else to go - I felt like I explained my situation well enough to the security staff but I still wasn't allowed in. I'd say if pub management read google reviews (and by the lack of responses to any, doesn't look like they do) I'd advise some sort of exception to the rule for situations like this. In the end you turned away 5 paying customers, unnecessarily, because of a blanket rule that wrongly identifies clothing with a class of people you clearly don't want in your pub. I will not be returning (or trying to return) any time soon.

The last time I went in this pub it had a different name and I cannot remember what it was. Anyway this was a reunion visit to Kettering to meet up with friends from the 60s. This was our second pub. I liked it. service was good, prices reasonable and the place looked clean. What more do you want. Shame I live in Nottingham as I would use this place more often.

They only do bar snacks, so if you're looking for somewhere to eat this is not your place. Service is good with reasonable prices and the atmosphere is good.

A very good pint of Hobgoblin Gold

It is a great pub with great bar and door staff and would have otherwise received atleast 4 stars but on the particular night I was in there, England were playing football and it was my experience that the door staff had opted to let to many people in, to put it in a pc way, it made the experience less than wholesome to say the least. I stayed for about 25 minutes, that's how long I was waiting to be served at the bar then gave up and left. But I can't judge this pub on the mistake of one night. Generally it is quite a nice place to go, to meet and to catch up with friends with good service, average seating comfort, average cleanliness toilets, a small but reasonable rear outside smoking area with limited rain cover. It has no car parking but there is plenty of local pay and desplay car parks within a 3 minute walk away in the vicinity. I think this pub offers food but I've on partaken in the bar snacks. Overall its not bad, worth a visit on your way home from work for a cheeky drink.

If could give 0 stars i would .Wouldnt recommend at all bar staff are all liers and little snowflakes.more worried about there feelings because they cant handle the truth .will bar anyone for telling someone the truth .PATHETIC....

I've always liked this pub even when it was known as Watercress Harry's...great atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks...

Pubs alright, a bit crowded but then from where I was it was a small area, didn't check further back.

Lovely pub and lovely staff, but terribly dirty smell, Guinness undrinkable, pool table which only dispenses 13 balls and they refuse to put a pound in to get the other two balls out, you have to do it at your own expense. Never again! oh and probably the dearest pub in town.

Nice pint, severe lack off haberdashery material and ponies, kids and lonely 90 year old widows need not set foot in the establishment.

Have a really good range of gins

Cheap as chips, they don't do chips by the way, it's a great drinks only and adults only pub too - 5 stars More modern music and less sport please, (stick a music channel on some of the screens) thanks. Friday night do is....not very good ....first 2 weeks were great just plays heavy metal grunge bring on the dance music!!!! It is Friday!!!!!!!!

Beer choice on 3 real ale handpulls was hobgoblin Ruby, hobgoblin Ruby or hobgoblin Ruby. Had cider instead then left.

Went in on a saturday night the pub was buzzing. Will go back

Great evening evening if it was quite. I felt and slept welcoming. The staff did ensure as we entered that we completed covid 19 track and trace

Perfectly selected and well trained staff. I like them all that know me. Mon to Sat a well trained and loveable mob, including the lad who always wore the 3/4 length grey overcoat. He has moved on. Be assured of a friendly welcome.

One of my favorite pubs in kettering. I rarely go on the weekend but during the week they have 60, 70, 90s on the speaker. Staff is super friendly. Love it here.

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. The drinks were cheaper than some of the other nearby places and tasted a lot nicer too. The seating was really comfortable and the atmosphere really relaxed. I would definitely recommend it as a place to sit down with friends, chat and treat yourselves.

Arrange to meet someone in the pub 29 years old didn't have I'd so was refused to be served she only wanted water embarrassed to say the least not good for trade I

The Stitching Pony is a true gem of a pub, where you are always offered a warm welcome when you enter. The dynamics between the bar staff and customers is amazing, and if there not busy, they are always up for a chat. The staff are so friendly, and they pretty much have every drink you can think of. The pub is a child free venue, so if your out with friends, on a date or you have a meeting, you don't have to worry about kids running about everywhere. They hold special events from St George's day (which is very rare these days) all the way up to New year's eve, and show every sports game you could think of. I would highly recommend this pub!

Probably the best pub in Kettering be far. Very nice interior and the atmosphere is for the most part nice, but can be very busy at times. Not that that can be helped but it can mean long waits for drinks or having to scrum your way to the bar

Nice to go have a pint and socialise.

Great place for a football match. Great service and great cask ales that are regularly changed. Nicely priced. Shame there's no food menu. Certainly got the outlay for it.

Needs music louder to live up the place and maybe put a few ponys for dec! !

Great pub .no kids .no food .just like pubs use to be

Absolutely terrible. On Christmas lights with all bars allowing children (even Aura). Walked in with 2 year old son and partner for one drink before bus home. Young lady (looked under age herself) said adults only, on Christmas gala night. Talk about Santa scrouge. ☹️

Very crowded but that was for England Vs Croatia so understandable - service seems decent and it's definitely roomy, just seems like there's a lack of seats compared to how much it could actually fit in
