My friend and I went in tonight for carvery, the place is understaffed and took ages to get served, we went for carvery you could clearly see the food was dehydrated the ham must have been lying ages it had changed colour vegetables were really cold so was the potatoes.i would never go back and would not recommend to anyone

Great food I had the cowboy burger with onion rings and hash brown (and extra that isn't on the menu need to ask) my fiance had the 8oz steak medium rare and she enjoyed that her daughter had the chicken burger which was massive! And we shared dirty fries with pulled bbq pork which was amazing aswell. The staff where very friendly, and helpful too. The atmosphere was good, no kids around as that section i think was around the other side of the bar where the machines are. All in good night.

10 adults and 3 kids had lunch here 2 had carvery lunch rest had burgers I had the carvery and was very disappointed with how poor it was the choice of veg was poor and what was there was not cooked properly undercooked potatoes in particular were very hard I had turkey and beef turkey was just ok but the beef was dry and chewy to eat I left half on my plate it was just inedible and the other person that had the carvery had the same problem as me the others that ate burgers said it was fine except the chips all saying the chips were cold I can only say from my experience and over 200 pound down don't waste your money here the quality and standards just aren't there

Yesterday I went to steam wheeler for my friend birthday once again we were served by Thomas. He was touch notch on his costumer service he check on us regularly to make sure everything ok with our food. He make us feel so welcome. The food was delicious I had large carvery it never fail to disappoint. I really enjoyed it and bannoffe cheesecake was superb. We definitely be back again. Looking forward to my next visit.

Used to visit here a lot and remembered tonight why we stopped going. Both ordered steak pie. I’m not really sure how you can get this wrong but honestly worst steak pie I’ve tasted, and I’ve eaten a fair few!! Very little steak and not sure if it was microwaved but some pastry was so hard couldn’t be cut. Picture shows how the gravy was dried into the pastry. A nice waiter asked if everything was ok. I explained it wasn’t the best, he apologised and went away and came back to offer another. I said no thanks. My dads was equally as bad. He said he would speak to the kitchen as that shouldn’t happen. Another older waiter took out plates away and didn’t even mention that nearly the whole pie was left. At nearly £13 each will definitely go elsewhere nearby.

We were welcome for our first visit they had the drink my mum drinks as she loves pineapple juice the food was lovely my mum loved the fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce and I enjoyed the gammon steak and chips with garden peas my mum really enjoyed the fish and I really enjoyed the gammon steak anywhere else I go to get it they say they don’t do it so full marks for the food from us both

We've found this to be the best of this type of chain establishment. The fish and chips was very good and the food generally looks appetising and well presented with good portions. The staff are busy but do their best to check if you need anything. We've eaten here several times and will continue to do so.

Came for the 1st time after an IKEA trip so a carvery and drink were well needed! Food was lovely, as were the drinks and fast service. We did wait at the door to be seated for a bit while staff members walked past.

I had family from England there was 27 of us phoned at 12 o'clock had a booking for 2pm so grateful to them for their help just like to say a big thank you to all the staff 😀

I had the pub classic Fish & chips. I liked it. Dill tartar is excellent. The waiter was a little hesitant to stop by my table and ask if I wanted another beer. Plenty of parking spaces.

Awful experience, the waiters were great but the wait time was awful, my companions food looked disgusting it looked like it was sat under a heat lamp for ages as the gravy looked awful. My other companion and I had to wait 35 mins for our carvery although no one was at the carvery area, there was no beef left, hardly any ham or turkey. I payed extra for stuffing and a extra bit of meat and the person serving completely forgot to give me some until I had pointed it out to him. Staff were okay.

Had lunch at Steam Wheeler at Braehead today, at door got asked any allergies and given gf menu, got told waiter take order rather than order at bar, my son went for huge mixed grill...they confirmed have separate gf fryer so chips are safe, brought out separate ketchup for him and his meal had a wee allergen flag on it to reassure, food was lovely pub grub! He was too full but there was a choice of 5 gf puddings!!! Defo good for family meal, we had carvery which was lovely 😍 family with one coeliac it always hard to find nice easy food this was brill, our Waiter Thomas was brill so friendly as were all the staff, be back soon.

We arrived for dinner as were booked into nearby hotel. Restaurant was quiet and staff seemed fairly disinterested to be honest, felt like we were an inconvenience. Food was average if that, but we were hungry after a day of shopping and theatre. Would advise anyone staying at hotel to eat elsewhere.

Have been going to Steam wheeler for years as it’s serves brilliant food, has great staff and has a lovely homey/chilled atmosphere which not many restaurants have and this is why I enjoy coming here! Thomas was an amazing server.

I am a regular at the steam wheeler. It’s quite local to us and we get the bus along. It’s always such friendly faces and always really warmly welcomed. We are now on first name terms and the service is just outstanding. The food is always incredible. Not a bad word to say about the restaurant. Always such a happy customer when I leave. I look forward to going back after each visit.

It was a very pleasant meal, the food was very enjoyable, the service was fast and the staff were really nice. Overall my experience was amazing!

This has become our local for dining. Myself & my wife had yet again a beautiful meal & drinks tonight whilst celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Staff as always very welcoming, friendly & accommodating. Great atmosphere.

The service was top notch seated very quickly by manager and within a few minutes a young lady was over for drinks orders manager came back once we had placed menus down and took our food order, she ment to ask my mum chips or potatoes with her meal but asked if she wanted chicken with her chicken and mushroom pie, was absolutely hilarious, not long after we placed our order our starters where brought out with a smile, my big thing was we finished our starters and the girl came and took our plates making sure we enjoyed our food all while still smiling, we weren't rushed we where looked after and giving a great gap between starter in main to be able to have a chat and our starters to settle, I had a steak which I asked for medium rare. This arrived absolutely perfect, overall food great and a very welcoming atmosphere

Been here a few times. Food is generally good. Outdoor Garden in summer is great. The service can be a bit slow / inconsistent.

Had a lovely late lunch here. Was my first visit but great quality and very reasonable price of our food. We will definitely be back. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Don’t miss the chance of a visit.

Great restaurant. There were 4 of us and we were all made welcome by staff who were friendly and nice and chatty. Food was excellent with plenty of choice from a varied menu. Well priced, relaxed atmosphere and we stayed for extra drinks after our meal. Will be back and will highly recommend

Went there last week. So disappointed. Staff were arguing in front of customers. It took a ridiculously long time to bring out 2 teas. Food was ok. Seems to have gone down hill

Every meal I’ve eaten here has been nothing but up to my standard. The meals are always tailored to my need if there’s something I like or don’t like, or fussy about. Put off trying the hotdog for a while but I did I asked for it to not have certain items and it was better than I expected. I’ve had a few of them now. Not the biggest of eaters so something get a smaller meal and even those are always good aswell. Good is always great and everyone is always smiling and chatting away

ordered a carvery, very poor. 1st was disappointed in the fact there was no mashed potato however the food was extremly bland. gravy also very bland. came with a group of 18, was looking forward to a nice sunday roast and was extremly disappointed with it and was not the only one of the group

We went as a family of 3 craving a carvery Sunday Dinner. Staff were lovely and very helpful as we weren't sure on how it worked with being table service. Carvery was beautifully cooked we enjoyed every bit of it and shared a dessert. Will definitely be back.

Service was a bit patchy but pleasant. Carvery was not the best experience we have had. Pork was too fatty and overcooked. Beef was too far overcooked and a bit dry. Turkey was pretty good. Veg was acceptable. I very much doubt we will be back.

Didnt bother with lunch it was a bit much to hard work to get a drink tried to approach the bar to get served for the same person to follow me to my table to take the order surely save yourself a journey take it at the bar? Wont bother again

I would avoid this place Food was of very poor quality although the service and staff were pleasant and attentive food described as co ered in cheese wad instead doused in a very unpleasant cheesy sauce the steak was dry and overcooked as was the chicken

One star! Entered the pub at 18:55, tried ordering a pint at the bar and got told to sit down as it’s only table service. I waited until 19:10 and walked up to the bar for the second time and once again got told to sit down. I then had to go and find a member of staff to order my pint as nobody was coming up to the table. I received my pint at 19:25! 30 minutes of waiting and waiting for one pint. Terrible

Fabulous! Excellent service, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff, great outdoor play area and plenty of outdoor seating too.

We where ignored when we first came, then shown to our table, the chair seats were dirty and covered in stains, I went to change it but the waitress said, it's ok and wiped it with her hand...We had the carvery, the turkey, gammon and cauliflower cheese was very nice but the rest was not, disappointed because on previous visits was very good.

Imagine this. It’s a warm sunny day (for once lol), you’re sitting in a quiet beer garden. You have a cold shandy and a delicious cheeseburger. In fact one of the best cheeseburgers you’ve ever had, and I eat a lot of cheeseburgers (even though I know they make me ill, gotta live a little lol). That’s the exact experience I had at the Steam Wheeler. I’m still shocked at how good that burger was. The service was polite and quick and the chips were delicious. I’m very happy we live nearby and we will definitely be back! As a haiku: Sun’s out, beer in hand, Steam Wheeler's cheeseburger land, Joy close, return planned.

We went in just to try it,we both had the carvery which was very good value and quality....Will definitely be back.

We booked a table for 4 online and received a reminder text which was good. When we arrived we were seated quickly and told someone would be over soon to take our order. About 10 minutes later, we asked a server if we could order or did we need to go to the bar. She said she would take our order, which she did. Our starter arrived before the drinks. We had sharing nachos which were cold and barely had any cheese, the cheese was like it was from a tube and no time had been taken over it. When the mains arrived, the burgers were burnt, the bun was crispy as if it had been left out too long. The gravy was cold and lumpy. The kebab had no flavour despite being salt & chilli chicken, and was cold. There was more mayo on it than chicken. We ordered a second round of drinks from the bar which never arrived. We eventually gave up waiting, didn't have desert as the rest of the meal had been so disappointing. The staff avoided eye contact with us at all costs and it was so hard to get anyone's attention. Was very disappointed, would not recommend and definitely wouldn't return.

Nice to have a carvery where the meat is well cooked next to no fat and generous portions. Veggies nice and tasty and potatoes that are not dried up and resemble cricket balls like another carvery I shall not mention. Ps staff were very polite and helpful WELLL DONE 👍👍👍

Firstly the senior Staff member who showed us to a seat was unsmiley a bit dour,not rude but not very welcoming ,young lad who served us was fine,once again only one choice of soup should always be a minimum of two and once again it was Tomato at a fiver ? The carved was poor the three meats are never all good at the same time,once again Turkey slightly dry,the beef I never opted for as it also looked dry,the Gammon was a tiny joint and the portions are meagre, the Yorkshire puddings are too big and tasteless the stuffing was mush no taste of sage or onion or whatever its composition was,the Roasters have hard crispy edges and the knives which I mentioned last time are blunt ,I'm not saying throw out cutlery every three months ,have them routinely sharpened ,we arrived at the Carvery no chef and no bell to ding like a Hotel receptionist, a waiter walked past us with plates for washing and never said " I'll send out a Chef for you " or something similar 5 mins later a Chef appeared I got my meagre amount of meat and chose the vegetables that I liked ,to my surprise you've STOPPED the black under plate to save your fingers getting burned?? Why would you do that? They can't be used for anything else, baffling decision! I couldn't wait to get out ,I left hungry ,if I go back ,and that is a big if I'm done with the Carvery ,I'd choose something else a big drop in standards from 5 years ago when I was more regular, £ 3.20 for fresh Orange and Lemonade ridiculous.

As a group of friends we planned a catch up at Braehead and went for some lunch. Decided to give Steam Wheeler a try and we weren’t disappointed. Jade was our server, who was extremely friendly and attentive. Nothing was any trouble even though we kept changing at desert. Thank you Jade and the friendly team for your service today.

Loved it. Everyone super friendly from the server outside to the the team bringing our food and drink. Everyone engaged with our kids and our dogs which is nice to see too. Food was delicious and loved the vegan options for my daughter who doesn’t take dairy very well. Vegan ice cream that isn’t a sour sorbet is really really rare so we were delighted. We ate outside and the place was spotless. We also used the toilets which were also spotless. Overall a really nice visit. Thank you!

This is a place with a great atmosphere , as soon as you walk in your greeted by very friendly staff who make you welcome and show you to your table . The menu is extensive with food to cater for any dietary requirements.. all in all everyone is very friendly and the food is to a high standard , would recommend to anyone.

Had a beatiful steak here yesterday.Cooked to perfection (medium rare) . The Guinness is a great pint, so many places can serve a bad Guinness.Price was very reasonable, the service was very good and with a smile. I have eaten here a few times now, when stopping over for work, and yet to be less than impressed.Keep telling my Mrs how good this place is, but being 300 miles away from home, she has yet to see for herself. lol
