An absolute gem, the likes of which we don’t have enough of nowadays. The walls of this totally unique community pub are bedecked with arcane treasures and curios in glass cabinets, art and photography, items of historical interest and perhaps a dozen Best Pub awards, which are well-earned because it’s a centre for community and arts activities as well as a proper boozer where strangers receive a warm welcome and a cold beer. The beer itself is perfectly looked-after with a good selection in the traditional pub style, the pub dog is a charmer, the building is phenomenal with grand high ceilings, sweeping red curtains, a conservatory and cozy alcoves with a real log fire blazing beneath the ornate Victorian hearth. The poetry night is superb on the 3rd Sunday of each month. An unusually high standard of work. The Station has heart and soul and history in spades. Best pub in Ashton, and depending on what you’re looking for, a contender for best pub in greater Manchester.

An amazingly preserved, grade 2, listed building. Many of the original fixtures and fittings are still in place. There's real ale, various lagers and ciders and soft drinks available. The large, fully enclosed, beer garden, to the rear of the pub, is the perfect place for people with children. There's a conservatory that connects the beer garden to the pub. In here is a piano, a selection of books to read and table football can be found. With chesterfield sofas to sit on, a long, low table for your drinkarge windows that allow not only a clear view of kid's playing in the garden. Recently, one of the regulars re-upholstered all the seating. Pauline and Andy, the pub managers, host various events throughout the year raising thousands of pounds for various local charities. While all this is going on, besides the daily running of the pub. The pub is also a place where people, who for whatever reason are having to sleep on the streets, worrying if they are going to get through the night without being robbed of what little they have and being beaten up. The pub hands out packed lunches and food boxes daily, all made up by the generosity of local people and businesses. If all that's not enough they also help people to not only get a flat or house from the council, housing associations and local estate agents. The People being rehomed, usually have very few possessions. Once again, the pub tries to help as much as possible to furnish and decorate their new homes. All new faces, old or young are welcome and dogs are also welcome. So if you feel like trying somewhere new for a night out come on down and become one of the family.

A very special place. Brewery free, real ales, large back garden in the summer, roaring open fire in the winter. Very cosy feel, more like being around at a mates very big house. They also do a lot of great work in the local community (which they are a real part of because they're not owned by some corporate entity). Regular live bands in the evenings, especially when it comes to local rock, punk and metal. This is their life rather than just a job, and it shows. No fancy menu, just very reasonably priced drink and pub snacks the way it should be. Oh and of course when you are done, there is a ton of fast food and taxis to be had very close by.
