I live in harwich, never been before , as was waiting for a friend while they had an appointment. The young girl that took my order was very helpful & friendly. I ordered a breakfast , I can’t remember what I ordered as there was too much choice . I received 2 eggs , 2 Bacon , 1 sausage , mushroom , Hash brown , toast & a tea . It’s prob the worst breakfast I’ve had in a long time !! I payed 9.95 … the eggs was ok , sausage was disgusting so oily obviously the cheapest!! for that price I thought I would get a quality sausage !! mushrooms was ok again very oily . The toast I couldn’t eat , as they obviously use cheap margarine as it was so soggy … definitely not proper butter . The prices they charge is disgusting, as the produce was very poor quality . Would never eat there again.

We visited Harwich for a week and ate here a few times, we just couldn't stop going back, the breakfasts were so good. They were very accommodating, they had high chairs, we could order specific breakfast items etc, our kids and my mrs can be particular sometimes but they catered to their needs. The waitresses are so friendly, great with the kids, very attentive and helpful, gave our kids lollies and took our order very clearly and perfectly every time. The food is just delicious. If you need a decent big hearty breakfast for any reason, in Harwich this is the place to be. The owner/manager, a male, does come across as an elusive character, you get the impression that he is a bit of a bossy / grumpy boss, he is nice enough to the customers, just about conjures up a smile but I can imagine he is quite impatient / strict with the waitresses. They did not do a kid size milkshake, we had to pay £3 for a milk shake that was huge for a 5 year old, think this was because it was in a bottle so couldn't do half. It cost us about 20 quid for 2 large and 2 small breakfasts - not cheap cheap, but very affordable. It would be great if it opened a few hours longer, 7 instead of 5, they sell all sorts of interesting potential dinners but it shut too early for us to try / enjoy them.

I think the single most important aspect of a cafe always has to be the food, thus the 2 star review folloiwng my recent breakfast there. It is a shame because it is a nice looking place with plenty of space and excellent, friendly staff. However, my breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage and toast was poor - hard but thin very poor quality bacon with no taste, unedible sausage with an interior texture akin to a soft hot dog and again completely tasteless and toast that came pre-buttered but had so little butter it was in fact almost completely dry. My efforts to drown out the poor taste of the food with sauces was unsuccessful as the brown and red sauces were watery and tasted terrible. I always think you can judge a good cafe by the simple things, one of which is the quality of the condiments. Any cafe that has, for example, HP brown sauce and Heinz ketchup on the tables - in bottles - scores well straight away. The awful tasting sauces here, in their horrible plastic bottles, let it down. To be fair I have not had lunches or sandwiches from here, hopefully they would be better but I will definately not be having breakfasts here again which, as I say is a shame as the staff are so nice.

Popped into this cafe whilst visiting Harwich for the "Mayflower 400 Illuminated Festival" and enjoyed a great meal. The cafe is quite large, but the tables are well spaced out giving customers ample room to enjoy their meals. I have eaten in here before and there is always a warm welcome and the food is cooked fresh to order. There is a fantastic choice on the menu including breakfasts, salads, sandwiches, roast dinners, burgers and vegetarian dishes. I ordered the "sunside up" breakfast of 2 eggs, 2 bacon, chips, beans, 2 rounds of toast and a mug of coffee, for a very reasonable £6.75. My partner ordered a cheese and mushroom omelette, served with chips and peas, for £7.00. The food was served freshly cooked and piping hot to our table and were of a good portion size, and tasted delicious. Will definitely be returning when next in the Dovercourt/Harwich area.

I arrived here at opening time (8am) having just got off the overnight ferry from Holland. It was obviously popular with the locals as within minutes many other customers had turned up. From the vast menu I opted for the vegetarian breakfast which arrived promptly and was hot, well presented and cooked to perfection. A large cooked breakfast, tea and 2 toast for £6.95. A typical English cafe serving the usual unhealthy fare all day. The waiter could have been a little more communicative and cheerful... Just a note, but why these days is a cup of tea just a tea bag thrown in a cup of hot water? Bring back pots of tea please!

Visiting the area for the day we decided to take refreshment at this cafe. I have no complaints with the food but having visited the rest room I met with a very nasty accident. I tripped up the step which leads into the cubicle, only a small incline but one that caused me much pain, I ended up on the floor having firstly hit my right side, arm and wrist against the toilet. There are two toilets, one had yellow and black hazardous tape stuck to one of the steps but the one I had used did not. I was in so much pain that I had to wait for a customer to enter the restroom to help me up. My clothes were wet and I can only imagine what I had fallen into was urine waste from previous customers. Having shuffled my way back into the cafe I mentioned my fall to a male and female member of staff, both didn't have a clue on how to handle this incident. I paid my bill and left. The following day and days that followed I was in complete agony and the bruising had come out, all down my hip, bottom, groin, arm and wrist. I would show a photo but being the injuries are in the most intimate part of my body I am unable to. I wasn't able to go to a hospital as we had to join our cruise ship, but instead I had to spend the rest of my holiday in the cabin on the ships doctor's orders until I reached home. I should have insisted this accident was recorded with the cafe owners and took a look at their health and safety paperwork. A lesson learned but failure with the cafe owners on not doing what they should at the time needs looking into!

My friend wanted to go for brunch unfortunately i wasn't keen from the start as i had been once before and was not terribly impressed. Ordered egg, chips and bacon. Was edible nothing special but noticed on completion a eyelash hair on my plate. Mine are long this was short. Luckily i had already eaten my food so wasn't worth mentioning. The drink however was worth mentioning. Pepsi can (can't go wrong surely) first can brought out to me unopened had coke spray on top so this was immediately replaced, in my opinion it should not of been brought out in the beginning. Waitress very apologetic. Second can started to drink and although was ok shortly noticed it was out of date, only by a month but i refuse to pay full price for any out of date item which i believe should not be sold in the first place. I did not continue to drink it so therefore i deducted a few pence from my bill. Being a good tipper myself i tip on appreciation of food/service quality, although serve was ok food was unworthy of a tip so left just a slight underpayment. After 2 visits now i will never ever return now.

There are three things that greet you as you walk into the Station Café. Firstly, its a bright, clean, nicely decorated space, secondly theres a warm friendly welcome, and thirdly its always busy and bustling. These are all promising signs when you're looking for somewhere to eat, especially if its a cheap and cheerful caff for a spot of well deserved lunch after a long walk on the beach, or a bit of shopping in town. The menu is vast, six laminated pages offering everything from a veggie breakfast to apple pie and custard via a roast lunch, fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, and various sandwiches and jacket potatoes if you fancy something lighter. Its good hearty 'British' fare, that is nicely served on hot plates in surprisingly quick time given that almost every table is almost always occupied. There is a well priced childrens menu although it doesn't have many options that don't include chips. Then again I guess there aren't many children who would turn their noses up at chips, so the menu caters for its audience. In freezing cold weather with numb extremities, I was grateful for the cup of delicious filter coffee that was promptly placed before me, and I opted for the roast pork dinner. The meat, Yorkshire pudding and gravy were all great, but the surprise was the plentiful and fresh vegetables. A quarter of a steamed cabbage, heaps of carrots, peas and potatoes made a pleasing plateful, at a spot-on £6.30. My sons veggie breakfast was nicely done and also reasonable, but the knickerbockerglory which was taller than he is was his undoing. Clearly a favourite with locals, and although you're not going high end dining, its budget friendly with helpful chatty staff to make you welcome. The free WiFi is a real bonus.

Having used from the day it opened as Cup of Coffee we have stayed loyal and as mentioned in my last review it seems that the lounge type area with soft seating has now been taken over by the local married and un married mothers and their children.Today one entire window side was being used by three or so women taking up four settees and two tables along with the number of pushchairs filling the spare spaces, we were about to sit at the area opposite when a woman taking up four place stood up and shouted something to people she was obviously with at the next table using the F word a couple of times. This is really not the sort of place that you want to hear people using this type of language or behaviour and as my wife says she isn't a prude but doesn't really want to sit and eat with that type of behaviour going on.Perhaps management should place signs limiting the amount of time an area can be taken over and we also noticed that the children were eating brought in food.I know Harwich is a port but lets keep these people and the language in a place where it might be accepted????

Gave this a rave when the new owners first took over but not looking as clean and smart and gives the impression that it's sometimes being used as a social club for the local women who in my opinion out stay their welcome as far as other diners are concerned as they are sometimes loud and intimidating.I always judge a restaurant by it's toilets and during the last visit found that the male toilet was disgusting with the whole of the pan below the water level black looking like it needed some bleach and cleaner.Sorry to the owner but if your toilets look like this how about the kitchen? Will update review if things change.

The Station Café is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants to eat in the area for basic good value for money meals or snacks.Having completely been taken over & revamped by new owners, the Station Café is one of the very few decent places to eat in Harwich.Great wholesome food, freshly cooked & prepared at reasonable prices.Hardly surprising then that this is part of the Jenkins Café chain which has acclaimed great popularity with its other premises in Colchester.Sadly,no wine or beer on offer at the time of writing, but hopefully the new propreitors will take note.Definately up there with the best!

We have been using this café / Restaurant since it first opened as Cup of coffee a few years ago and have watched it go down hill slowly under a different name BUT after being closed for a short while we tried it under the new management and new name.Gone are all of the casual arm chairs and tables leaving one small area for this type of seating and the rest equipped with chrome and wood continental looking tables and chairs. The menu is more extensive now catering for those wanting a small snack to those wanting a full meal. What impressed us most on our first visit was the fact that when the waitress put the cutlery on the table she quickly removed one knife as it had a water mark on it, Something that is normally ignored in more expensive establishments. We both had Panini's as usual but my elderly mother who has a small appetite had a child's fish and chips which although not on the menu for adults was allowed. This is something I think this and more UK restaurants should add to their menus as most US ones do for senior citizens.I

This is a back handed review as I’m extremely let down and would not return if it wasn’t for a particular member of staff. I have followed from the olive tree and was excited to hear the vine tree o
