We only had half-an-hour between trains but we were quickly served in this traditional GWR style cafe. It has outside seating as well and the ham and cheese rolls were a walk back in time to my childhood at Ilfracombe station cafe. Friendly staff, good prices and refreshing tea with all the trimmings. No food allowed in the First Class areas.

I struggle to walk and arrived in Llangollen needing lunch with children. After trying several places and being rudely spoken to across the road for not knowing exactly what they were doing I was about to give up. My husband found the tea room. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was delicious and fresh. It was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch in the end.

We arrived early for a “Mince Pie Special” on Boxing Day, we were able to grab a quick tea and hot chocolates before the train arrived. The service was quick and friendly, I suspect that they may struggle a bit when it got much busier just before the train arrived. There is seating outside on the platform with a good view of the train arriving.

Afternoon food was desired after arriving in Llangollen via the canal. We were recommended to try the Station Cafe and Bar for a late lunch. The setting is great, at the Llangollen railway station and it was open till 5pm - perfect, unless you wanted anything hot, which they stop at 3pm - whats going on here ?. Very disappointed we headed into the village and found a great cafe on the river where we could get something that was not cold. While I cannot recommend the Station Cafe, if you visit at other time you may have a different experience.

We only had time for a quick drink before our train ride. The good thing about this café that I would like to point out though, is that by the time we got our train tickets the dining car was full so we were unable to 'dine on the line', however food and drinks purchased in the café can be eaten on the train so that is a good compromise.

Having had a meal in the town earlier we decided to come here for afternoon tea as the railways of yesteryear hold a lot of memories for us having met one another whilst we were both employed by the then British Railways and today we were celebrating our forty ninth anniversary . Very quiet here in fact only us two so we ordered our food and sat in front of the old fire place, not long before the young serving lady came with our tea's, we asked if she would take a photo of us which she did with my phone and it came out as a really good snap, so thank you miss. The station itself is quite unique as it is steeped in history which the staff and volunteers are all to eager to tell you about.Would recommend this small cafe to everyone if they want some good food in old world surroundings, nice staff and obliging manager.

We wanted to get something for lunch and went to the station to get some nice sandwiches + a drink. Well, this has been a quite disappointing experience, because we had to wait quite long for our sandwiches. Also, I ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich, but there weren't any pickles on my sandwich. Not the quaint old station tea room you would expect on a heritage railway platform and not very nice food either.Mine and my Dad's egg mayonnaise sandwiches tasted of absolutely nothing except very strange, sweet mayonnaise and the chopped egg had a weird slippery slimy texture. Not nice to eat at all. The cheese in my Husband and Mum's sandwiches was also tasteless. We have had far superior food in a supermarket cafe.Coffee and tea were no more than OK.The cafe in the railway carriage, situated just before you enter the station itself, was much, much better.

The carriage tea room looked so lovely and welcoming and a sign states that you should take a seat and someone will come to take your order. The weather was warm and we chose to sit outside. The only other customers outside were a familly of three and the waitress was just delivering their order and saw us sitting down (she walked right past us as we read the menu) After 15 minutes and having seen another family arrive and sit inside with their order immediately taken, I wandered inside and asked if I could order. The waitress said she would send someone out. 10 minutes later we decided to leave because it was clear that no one was coming. The staff saw us walking away and there was no apology etc. Such a shame they could not cope on a really quiet day where only 3 tables were occupied...2 with their orders delivered and 1 totally ignored. Really disappointed and will not return.

We visited on Thursday June 12th. We boarded the 1 o'clock train and had a lovely scenic journey down to Carrog station. We returned to The Station Café and Bar at around 2.45pm where we stopped for a late lunch [Ham,egg&chips for my partner and a ham&cheese Panini with salad for myself] both were delicious and fresh. After catching a glimpse of the homemade scones we simply HAD to try the traditional Welsh cream tea! The scones were like none we had ever tasted and certainly nothing like mass produced ones at supermarkets! We were waited on by a very pleasant chatty lady who could not do enough for us. The whole day was one my husband and I will remember for many years to come...We will be returning later in the summer!
