I thought I was in a different pub then wetherspoon. The food was actually tasty and well presented ( Burrito salad bowl) I had. The tables were clean. Staff made conversation & polite. The seating area separately from the bar. I will definitely come back here again. All for £26.26 with drinks.

Food is basic, I got a buttermilk chicken burger and I literally got a dry bun with a burger in it, very bland food.

Food was good for your average pub lunch, the price was good. The only thing that let it down, was the local customers using bad language and being very loud.

Me and my partner went for food, first time they brought breakfast out it was cold, second time the egg was runny after asking for it to be cooked properly and now we both feel massively sick.

Have always had good food at this Wetherspoons, but our experience yesterday was traumatic to say the least. The table we sat at seemed to be enveloped by an icy draught from the air conditioning, but it was fairly busy as usual. On ordering food we found that there was a special on the fish & chips. My son ordered his separately, which went through o.k. When he ordered for my partner it seemed to go through, pay pal had taken the money, but there was no Wetherspoons receipt in his email. Food didn't arrive after 20 minutes, so son went to the bar & was told by staff to re-order. When he went into the app to re-order they had taken the special off (probably prompted by son's visit to bar). Son went back to bar, manageress said there was nothing she could do. Son said the least they could do was honour the special price which she reluctanly agreed to & he paid at the bar. Today the original payment isstill pending on his bank account & we are having a heck of a time trying to get it cancelled. Wetherspoons have recently updated their app - I strongly advise you check your bank account if this happens to you.

It’s a spoons!! Had a large mixed grill Mrs had scampi n chips both tepid at best. No one came and asked us if the meals were ok!! When someone came and took the plates and asked how it was. Terrible to be honest with you . Just picked the plates up and walked off with them. We were starving so anything would have done us but dissatisfied with the experience and food

Love going for my breakfast here. I'm usually there once or twice a week for my Vegan breakfast, packet of ginger biscuits and two cups of coffee, all for Less than a fiver (it's a couple of pounds more at the Darlington one). I never leave any food on my plate!

Had tea here tonight. Nice old pub in centre of Bishop that is very spacious and spread out inside. Usual Wetherspoons menu. Steaks were very nice and came out fairly quick after ordering. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Nice atmosphere.

Just popped in for a quick pint in passing ... a large spoons that serves food ..seemed popular especially outside in the sunshine ...yards from the entrance to the bishop auckland tower and the park

Better burger and chips than you would get at maccys, and a pint ut optional. Its spoons, pub food with some some random special 2.75 foreign lager on the board. If you're not on board you're not English.

We are regular customers and food has been good in the past but we're disappointed this time with the breakfast. Poached eggs overcooked - we complained and got another egg but it was also overcooked. Breakfast muffin and bacon was tough. Hopefully it's just an off day for the chef but felt disappointed nevertheless and complaining didn't achieve much.

Visited today with a friend, as we do most Fridays for 1 glass of wine each (as we were both driving) and a coffee. We asked for a glass of wine each to be told there was no wine in the pub. The only thing we were offered was a whole bottle of wine- which obviously we couldn’t have as we were driving or a small bottle of prosecco. When I asked why they couldn’t pour 2 glasses of wine from the bottle, they said they weren’t allowed to do this. How can a busy pub have no wine? I think there are going to be a lot of angry customers tonight - Friday which presumably will be really busy. Extremely bad management !!!

Had a burger and a Guinness for less than a tenner, can't ask for much more, food, service and beer all excellent

Nipped in for a quick lunch with my boys. The food was good especially the deals with a drink included. Also do a good breakfast.

Nice breakfast, BUT, not keen on cold bacon and cold beans which tends to spoil the enjoyment of the whole breakfast

Came for a hearty meal and a pint with my freinds. Didn’t asked to be harassed. Been stared at non stop by the staff whilst trying to enjoy my meal. All because they think my freind is underage and he hasn’t even ordered a beverage. New staff should be fired for making customers feel this way. Not good Wetherspoons have a word

Rainy day in Bishop Auckland. Vegie sausage and mash as comfort food. Look what Supermarket's have done to the High Street.

I love this pub in Bishop. It's cheap and has a nice little beer garden at the back.

My first visit here and it was very busy as they had a food festivalon the market square outside

One of the better Wetherspoons. Clean and comfortable. No long waits for food. Could use more staff. Or better deployment of the ones they have. I experienced a deserted bar. But still 4*

Can be very hit and miss, sometimes spot on, tables cleaned, food good, quick service served hot and correct. Other times service is very slow, food is cold or not cooked properly, tables left uncleared for long periods. Always worth a visit but be prepared for occasional disappointment. Good value and unhurried experience. Free parking out front but limited spaces so usually have to park a few hundred yards away

Fish and chips was good for money. Pick most expensive alcoholic drinks and even cheaper. Plates were hot and food was hot. One or two chips undercooked but overall good. Good choice of ales.

Lovely building with lots of different seating areas.

The burgers are not as big as they use to be and the size of diner have gotten smaller. i am still hungry after eating. Since prices have gone up. But all in all stil reasonable to eat there. They need to make a bigger choice on menu. A dog friendly seating would be grate even if it is only 2 tables at a time.

We stopped going here for months because of the food but we tryed again to day for breakfast it was stone cold told a member of staff that had a attitude not be going back again staff need training in manners

It's a Wetherspoon but the usual good value and helpful friendly service. We had vegetarian breakfast could dunk toast in egg which was cooked but runny so thoroughly enjoyed.

Went to spoons for breakfast worse breakfast we've had it was cold 🥶 and the toast was only done on one side other side was white n soft that's twice been there wouldn't go back Crook is far better 😑 🙃

Sat with six people drinking 4 on 1 table us two on other table mate went to the Bar I went too the toilet 🚻 came back to find barstaff had removed the drink from table and beer mats yet left 7 empty classes so if you need the toilet I suggest you take your beer / drink with you or finish it or they will remove with out asking I will NOT BE GOING TO ANY WEATHERPICKS AGAIN there are loads of better pubs in BISHOP GOOD RIDONS when I told staff no sorry half a pint stolen rip off company

Excellent place for dining catching up with friends or just to chill. Table service is excellent and plenty on the drinks menu to choose from.

Cheap beer, cheap food, untidy, messy pub. Fine if you want bang average at best food and get drunk with like minded people. Basic no frills pub. Which is similar to other spoons I've been in. Seems to be the business plan.

Large spacious Wetherspoons in the Market Place at Bishop Auckland. Quiet in the mornings for breakfast, but they have some breakfast deals and food deals which other Wetherspoons do not. Staff are pleasant and the food is served fast. My only issue is the heating is not as warm as it should be.

Loved it! Initially wasn't keen on seeing a 'spoons' in the market place of my home town on a recent visit (first time in twenty years) but it turned out to be absolutely superb! And Double Maxim on tap! Yeah, full marks.

ZERO stars if it were an option- they do not cater to basic requests. Silly staff. Retraining required

Nice spoons. The food is exactly what you would expect and it had a pretty chilled atmosphere so depends what your looking for but for a Monday night it was alright. We have been before and will no doubt be back again

Disgusting food in fact it was a joke American burger with 6 chips brought out within minutes so obviously was not fresh so warmed up absolutely pathetic and the katsu curry was probably a £1 from Iceland in fact the rating for food should be zero

Strange , wanted to order to sit outside with our dog , was told by very rude staff that you cannot be served with a dog outside , strange as a couple were sitting outside today with a dog drinking?!! , pub favourite??? , right type of dog ???. , face fits ????, worst pub I have ever.been near , will never touch this dump with a barge pole .

1st time in here on Saturday ordered a breakfast and my wife had the breakfast muffin. Service was really quick and friendly my wife enjoyed her food and mine was good, would definitely return.

Called to have a few large breakfasts , told that we would not be served if we sat outside on the pavement!!!!!!!!, We have used this for years and given it a huge amount of money today it stops , the two businesses next door both serve food and both have dogs, they now have our money . Shame one you all .

Was OK. Decent enough pint at a good price. Must of been a busy afternoon with staff missing as there was dirty plates and glasses all over. Sticky table didn't help much either. Just had the one pint.

Another Witherspoon's, another town, but genuine different history. Not just one half of Laurel and Hardy. But Hardisty, Dixon, etc, etc, so rich in history.

Nice food. Although looked a little overcooked. But tasted fine. Would be nice to have a choice of thick.or thin fries. Place looks as though she needs an uplift. Tables are very sticky. And flooring looks grim. Toilets clean.

The Stanley Jefferson is a lovely pub and since it is a Wetherspoons it has great food and drink at a cheap price. This place is very clean and all the facilities are very modern.

Often frequented by King Charles and his Jack Russels, or that's who the bloke at the bar told me he was.

Popped in for a cuppa and breakfast, there was a queue of 4 customers at the bar, there were also 4 other members of staff chatting and laughing behind the bar. I asked the group of staff if anyone else was serving, a young man with multi coloured dyed hair with what appeared to be a southern accent and I was guess was the manager. He said, no there’s only one serving, she’ll serve you when she can. I don’t think I’ll be returning soon. Wetherspoons need to sort this venue out.
