The Stag & Monkey in Hartlepool

Come here for a breakfast and it’s probably the worst iv had in Hartlepool. The bread wasn’t even toasted properly, mushrooms were freezing and the rest was clearly just microwaved. Do not recommend

Ordered Half A Chicken as part of the mix it. Got a leg and a wing of a small chicken and no breast. When I complained we received a Humf sound and told he would pass the complaint on. Waited 15 minutes and no one came back to apologies. Very dissatisfied with the meal, went back home for a chicken sandwich out the fridge.

Went for my 18th birthday. My mother ordered my drink and when asked she stated it wasn’t for her because she was driving. Got 2 for 9 of the cocktails and after drinking one was approached and asked for ID. The only ID I have is passport and didn’t have it on me since… who carries passport everywhere. They said I wasn’t aloud it which fair enough she was only doing her job and I didn’t have any ID. Did offer a fresh picture to be taken by my sister or a call to show it but was turned down. The drink was offered to my mum who was driving so was turned down and they took it away. Staff was very rude and so we asked for a refund on the drink too. Drink was untouched but we got 3 pounds instead of the 4.50 paid!! When we got the food it was also cold and lasagne tasted completely disgusting too. Had been before and all was well but this time was a massive let down which kind of ruined my mood on my 18th birthday. Spent 50 pounds here and was very disappointed

Great boozer in the town, plenty of screens showing sports and always a discount to be had on match days using the app. Plenty of choice on the food menu, same with the drinks. Decent beer garden with a park for the kiddies to blow off some steam and the staff are friendly and chatty. See yas again

A great welcome in by Sean and Stuart to set up a warm atmosphere in the stag, the Stella was very good pint and the nachos were beautiful followed by a lovely chilli cheese burger and chips. Well worth the money. Chef Lizzy 10/10

Served by Sean and Stu who were both excellent. Food made by Lizzie was tasty and generous. Nice relaxed evening meal.

Me and my partner come very often. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Been served a few times by sam and she always let's me know the promotions for the day. Good for football aswell for my partner

Popped in for breakfast this morning. Had the breakfast wrap and the hash browns with gravy, both were very nice, took my dog with me and she had chicken. Price was brilliant too as well as the service. ☺️

Went to the Stag and Monkey for lunch and chose from the mix it up menu. All 3 of us were impressed with the quality of the food. The service was excellent. The bar staff were very patient with me as I had trouble bringing up the QR code for blue light discount. We didn’t wait very long for food either so would definitely recommend and go again

Cheap and cheerful brillaint staff

Had a good time at the stag and monkey for a family members birthday meal. Sam (the girl that served us) was really lovely and was extremely helpful with her recommendations for drinks to try. We had a really good time playing pool are darts and I would recommend the food as Hannah is a really good chef. We will be going to the stag and monkey again!

The steak was good and the chips were amazing The chocolate fudge for pudding was incredible and the waiters were very friendly. I highly recommend

Hi my wife and I are regular customers we try to get here once a week staff are always pleasant and polite the young lady today was Sam who works with Oscar very polite with a great attitude. The chef was Kaz the food was spot on no complaints at all about it. Thanks Ken & Sue.

Visited today for a cuppa while I waited for my car to be repaired. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable and Tom, The server was friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again. Cheers!

We had the steak mix up and it was gorgeous. We eat in lots of different restaurants and pubs from cheap and cheerful to high end, and that steak could compete with any of them. The staff were lovely, especially the woman with the long hair in a ponytail.

Had christmas dinner here, its was a great day, the food was beautiful and staff were lovely!

Excellent experience and great value for money on Christmas day. Food was very fast but didn't lack in quality as a result. Service from the staff was excellent but not overbearing, just right. Sam was lovely with us and the rest of the team working the Christmas shift too, not a bad word to say against them 👍

We booked for Christmas dinner 2024 at The Stag & Monkey and we couldn't be happier. The food was so good, the staff were incredible. They were attentive and so welcoming. The atmosphere was just perfect. My family and I had the most wonderful time. For the first time in a long time, I was able to actually enjoy spending time with my family instead of being in the kitchen and cooking. Thank you so much to all the team for going above and beyond. We came straight from xmas shopping hoping for a quiet stress free meal and a couple of drinks, we couldn't of been happier , we got parked straight away , seated immediately and got comfortable. I ordered our drinks and starter/meal by app and within minutes our drinks were on out table , 3 minutes later our starter was served . We just finished our starter when our plate filled piping hot mains were served . The food was more than enough for each person and was beautiful. The place was very clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We had an excellent experience. It was our first time here and we will be back.

Awesome and quick service, family oriented and friendly staff. Food was great, came over a couple days to try different items from breakfast menu while visiting family in the area, well worth the trip.

We both had burgers and fries with onion rings. The burgers and buns were really overdone, got just 2 small onion rings which were not good.

Food was tasteless, would not recommend, people of Hartlepool have no taste buds yet everyone recommend you eat their.....

Very lazy staff , in Hartlepool stag and monkey today, two stood behind bar today , 20-09-24@ 1.30 onwards, but when food was brought the lad told us we had to go get our own cutlery and sauces. No one asked if our meal was ok . My sister only wanted half a coke , but was told they only do pints , this is not good service .I would not recommend anyone go here

Staff very friendly, unfortunately you have to get your own cutlery and when you're dining with a 3 and 1 year old with no one else you can not leave them alone to get the cutlery needed . I understand they may be too busy to get everyone's cutlery, but I think they should offer for single diners with little ones to young to be left alone.

The The toilets have no locks on the door, and they’re always blocked. I’ve been coming to this pub now for three months and the toilets are the worst thing about the place. I’ve complained today which has fell on deaf ears, which is a shame because I do like the pub in general, but if you can’t have decent facilities and that there is a problem !!! I never leave reviews, but today I think I have to !! DIRTY TOILETS LET A PLACE DOWN !!

Best pub in hartlepool, food and staff amazing

Staff were friendly and helpful. We had to sit outside as we have a dog. The beer garden is right next to a very busy main road, meaning that it was very loud. Also, the food wasn't great. Why ask how you want the steak cooked if they're going to over cook it any way. The chicken breast was also very dry. At least our dog liked it. Finally, the portion size was also small.
