Nice pub go there every time I'm in Hartlepool

Awesome and quick service, family oriented and friendly staff. Food was great, came over a couple days to try different items from breakfast menu while visiting family in the area, well worth the trip.

We both had burgers and fries with onion rings. The burgers and buns were really overdone, got just 2 small onion rings which were not good.

Food was tasteless, would not recommend, people of Hartlepool have no taste buds yet everyone recommend you eat their.....

Very lazy staff , in Hartlepool stag and monkey today, two stood behind bar today , 20-09-24@ 1.30 onwards, but when food was brought the lad told us we had to go get our own cutlery and sauces. No one asked if our meal was ok . My sister only wanted half a coke , but was told they only do pints , this is not good service .I would not recommend anyone go here

Staff very friendly, unfortunately you have to get your own cutlery and when you're dining with a 3 and 1 year old with no one else you can not leave them alone to get the cutlery needed . I understand they may be too busy to get everyone's cutlery, but I think they should offer for single diners with little ones to young to be left alone.

Staff are friendly & welcoming. Food and drink were lovely and well priced. Atmosphere and music choice was fantastic and Stu who served us all night was exquisite. 10/10 would recommend.

The The toilets have no locks on the door, and they’re always blocked. I’ve been coming to this pub now for three months and the toilets are the worst thing about the place. I’ve complained today which has fell on deaf ears, which is a shame because I do like the pub in general, but if you can’t have decent facilities and that there is a problem !!! I never leave reviews, but today I think I have to !! DIRTY TOILETS LET A PLACE DOWN !!

Staff were friendly and helpful. We had to sit outside as we have a dog. The beer garden is right next to a very busy main road, meaning that it was very loud. Also, the food wasn't great. Why ask how you want the steak cooked if they're going to over cook it any way. The chicken breast was also very dry. At least our dog liked it. Finally, the portion size was also small.

Service is very good and staff are very helpful and polite. The drinks are good and very reasonable priced. Any problems are very quickly resolved if possible.

Went with my Mam at lunchtime had 2 for £11.95, had fish, chips and mushy peas. Very nice and good value. Staff nice and friendly.

We had a fab time here recently, Tom was super friendly (as were all of the staff!) and everything was absolutely top notch. Cannot wait to be back again!

Food was shocking again today. None of us are the food. It was stone cold undercooked and the portion size was tiny. Second time at this establishment, first time was lovely we recommended to friends this time was really bad experience paid over 20 quid for two meals, first time had been out in a long time. One Meal was wrong, off and split sauce and overcooked steak. no one came to check if meals we're ok so had to hunt down a member of staff to change the meal. They did so graciously but that was their only saving grace. The meal came back the second time and wasn't what was ordered. Nobody came again to check the meal was okay but my husband had already eaten, so we left and reported it the bar. The Best they could offer to make up the horrendous food and service was an eye roll and a half-arsed "sorry about that." Clearly, the staff and supervisors and chef are not really all that bothered about guests. We won't be going back. Don't tell me!? you will take my feedback on board because this isn't your usual standard. 😉

Nice place, good food and the duty manager was lovely, very accommodating, didn’t catch his name, I would return.

Came in yesterday evening and I will be returning in the future had great food great prices drinks and the manager and syaff where spot on and couldn't do more for us. Really impressed thanks for a good meal and service

Lovely place to bring the kids to eat. Excellent prices, food was enough and tasted nice, good choice. Thr lad who served me was lovely , really pleasant and willing to help. Kids loved it.

This is the second time at this pub first time was great, but very disappointing this time round, very sloppy food and the burger barely resembled what we asked for would avoid ordering food here i had a burger replaced and even then was terrible hot chips freezing cheese burger, i asked for a refund in the end.

Came in for a game of pool with our daughter. We didn't realise it was an over 18s area as we entered through the carpark. We were told we could finish our game of pool and go into the other side the extremely rude bar lady shouted at us to leave. I've never felt so belittled in all my life the way she shouted at us, please sign post an over 18s area if you don't want children in there. We wouldn't of intentionally brought a child into one.

Came for breakfast choose to have the waffles for the first time with sausage bacon and cornflake chicken was absolutely delicious will be definitely having it again

Tried this place again. Shouldn't have bothered. Floor and tables looked and felt as if they had been cleaned with a dirty mop. Your feet stuck to the wood floor and your arms stuck to the table. Food was mediocre, fish was over cooked to the point the batter was solid and inedible. Lasagna needed another 60 seconds in the micro wave but the salad looked nice. Will I use this place again. No. You've had several chances but yet again. It's gone back to very poor experience

Loved my last visit to the Stag, great food and massive selection of drinks, loads of TVs so didn’t miss the footy!

So if I could give no stars I,would for this reason.my family and I go here regularly for Sunday lunch we went on the 30/6/2024 Sunday 2.30 and asked for 3 pints of larger and the manager set up 3 plastic glasses and I asked for proper glasses he then said no because the football was going to start which was wrong as it didn't kick off till 5 a clock I looked around the bar and people were drinking out of proper glasses I pointed this out to the manager again asked for glasses he said no.if you can turn away 70 to 80 pounds worth of business then more fool you just remember when the football is over and the fans have disappeared and you're looking for you're regulars then pop around the corner to the travelers rest and give us a wave where we get a lovely welcome for the staff.

The most delicious steak I've had in a long time. Gorgeous.. Perfectly cooked. My husband had gammon with the most delicious looking eggs Definitely worth another visit!

Frequent this pub often, staff are always cheerful and make us feel very welcome, lovely cold beer and clean tables with a beer mat! Chilled background music! Great variety of sports on good screens, over 18’s section and excellent children’s play area! Well done Oscar and team we will return 😉

Stag fest was amazing we need more events like that been coming since the stag opened and honestly best event that's happened!! Over the moon quiz has returned too should be every 2 weeks though! A LITTLE FOR EVERYONE! this venue is perfect for a family meal , meet up with the lads , or just a few after work.... I went in on saturday evening with my wife and daughter , as a football fan (toon army) the atmosphere was great as it was the mancheater derby f.a cup final day. Pints were cold , food was hot football was on the big screen , daughter was very happy making new friends in the play area. This venue is exactly what it is advertised to be , a family friendly PUB.... if its gourmet michellin 5* food you want , then give this pub a swerve. If its a cold pint and nice PUB grub , friendly atmosphere , value for money , then i highly recommend paying this venue a visit!

Full mixed grill couldn't eat it all decent sausage not bangers and steak was done to my requirement n staff were extra helpful it's the norm if there's s problems they solve it

Been in stag and monkey all day spent a fortune a certain staff member has an absolutely rotten attitude.Speaks to customers like dirt no please or thank you this us not the first time his attitude has been disgusting

We dropped in the Stag & Monkey on Wednesday 29th May. We got the feed the family for £15 deal, the kids got chicken nuggets & chips (one with beans) with a millionaires brownie and a fruit shoot each, me and the Mrs got a chicken tikka each which we added a naan bread and a side of chips to. The food came out quickly and was delicious, the desserts were different to the old brownies and weren't served with ice cream anymore but the kids still loved them. The chef Declan spoke to us and he was very nice and the managers Charlene and Wayne were lovely. A lady called Sophie brought out food out and she was very friendly and waited on us hand and foot. We will definitely be coming back. Good value and good vibes.

Rundown , dreadful . Food takes ages . Don’t have half the stuff available on the menu. If this was my business and I had the reviews It has below , I’d be absolutely embarrassed. Abysmal .

This place is fine if you want a cheap meal, I.e microwaved lasagne and smash for your mash. My salad looked like it had been there 2 days. Cheapest patties they could find for a burger too, but if you're wanting to watch football and snack then this place is great for your family! Trying to eat food and speak to family is next to impossible whilst there is a football match on! Instead of having football on in one half of the room, they have it on where dinner is set. People screaming as you eat your food.

Been to the stag and monkey a few times for food now and can honestly say I won't be returning. To over priced for what you get. Came in today and the food was cold and over cooked compare to the night before where it was hot but spoilt by dousing the chicken strips in powder seasoning which was to much and ruined the meal. Today I did ask for the pot of curry sauce to be changed for a hot one for my mum and by the time I got back to the table she informed me that all her meal was cold. Chicken looked like it was from the night before as it was that overcooked and dry. Really not impressed by the food whatsoever despite trying several things off the menu.

Went for tea ,food was great lovely family atmosphere was made to feel welcome by front of house staff ,our server Libby was very attentive and made sure we were happy with everything was great with the kids,bar staff were very friendly and Adam was very helpful when asked about certain drinks ,would highly recommend for food and drink and exceptional with the kids.

Me and my partner visited a few weeks ago. She ordered a burger which was dry and had hardly any salad or sauce on it. This however was gourmet food compared to the "chicken wrap" I received. Cheap reformed chicken, a cheese slice, the tiniest bit of salad all folded up in a rock hard and cold tortilla wrap. Totally overloaded with cheap oily greasy mayonnaise it was without doubt the worst thing I have ever received on a pub menu. 2 bites and I literally couldn't face it, the staff came nowhere near to clear the table, I'm guessing incase I told them how bad it was. Manager was informed on the way out and seemed to genuinely not care one bit when told I'd never set foot in the place again and leave a bad review. Utterly shameful

Roast dinner come out as if it was for my 5 Yr old ? Chicken burger looked like it was covered in sawdust and dry as cotton wool. Drinks were fine like 👍 but for the price I would expect a lot better. Dont get me wrong the food was good but must of ran out of ingredients

Worst place for food we been here 3 times since it’s been here and every time it’s been terrible staff were there home clothes in and out of kitchen food hygiene terrible a customer complaint about there food and you could hear the staff laughing about it in the kitchen full of kids and no care in the world
