Came here to celebrate a 70 birthday I had steak chips the steak was cooked perfect the meal was great at the price,s was good Staff was polite couldn't do enough for you We will be coming again in the near future

I've eaten at the Stag a few times. The pizzas are excellent, the hunters chicken is fantastic, unfortunately last week I had the Sunday roast. We ordered Roast chicken, and were given grilled chicken by the staff on top or roast potatoes and pretty tasteless microwaved vegetables. It was a pricy meal, £15 a head and honestly, they should have been upfront about what they were serving if they had run out of roast chicken. As it is, it was a poor meal, even though we have had good experiences previously, now I'm not sure if we will go back.

Unfriendly towards younger adults, bad atmosphere, aggressive staff. Refused service. The Worst pub Iv visited. It was very quiet in there for new years. the atmosphere was weird, the music was low , and it was overall very bland. I felt like I had to speak quietly, it was quite uncomfortable. Me and my friends sat down for about a minute, the manager asked for our IDs. I showed him mine first he looked at it and asked us to leave and we don’t know why. I’m 22, we were not rowdy and it’s a real ID. Honestly I didn’t mind being kicked out, I wanted to leave anyway. But some of my friends asked why and the manager got in my friends personal space and was being aggressive towards her, when she asked him to move away he didn’t. the woman behind the bar started shouting “bye!” Repeatably. Very strange. I wouldn’t recommend this pub for younger adults, the staff are very unfriendly. The pub across the road from it is much better. 👍

Me and my mates thought we would go in here for a drink as we was waiting for a taxi and it was lashing it down on new years eve. Was fairly quiet for new years eve witch was strange but we soon found out why. Sat down and was immediately confronted by one of the seven dwarfs. Soon found out it was grumpy. He asked us all to get out for no reason and then when asked why, gave the response that he doesn't need to give a reason. He then got confrontational with my partner who is a 4'11 girl who started to feel very threatened by the man. Strange how he was only confrontational with her and not with any of the lads. Tosser We left but will not be coming back. Asked around at the pub across the road witch was packed by the way and was told no one goes in there for similar reasons.

Absolutely disgusting place to visit. A group of my friends entered the pub and sat down. After a few mins the a worker came over and asked for our id’s. We all obliged and prepared to hand over our id’s, after only checking one he abruptly said “all of you leave”. We contested this decision and asked for a reason on why we were asked to leave the pub. The member of staff said he does not need to tell us and would not give any indication of why we should leave. This was quite a shocking experience, especially on New Year’s Eve. Would not recommend entering if your are young as it seems there is some discrimination going on. 0/10, was dead anyway.

Absolutely awful place. Was not allowed service by the manager and was not given a reason for this. I politely asked for a reason and was told “I am not in any authority to give you a reason for this” and while getting extremely close into my personal space as a clearly young 20 year old woman where I told him this intimidated me, where he did not move. If the manager could have a reasonable reason to refuse our service then it would be fair enough but we did not have any reason and got abuse when asking why we was being asked to leave. For reference we all only sat down and looked at the menu, where we were asked to see our IDs and all 20+ where then we were asked to be removed. Disgusting.

As always the food is fabulous, the staff friendly & helpful. A lovely atmosphere throughout.

The food and the service was great. Meet the manager and he was very friendly and helpful. The place was pretty busy and not very big so suggest you book in when you can!

Fine beers and great food, what more can you ask! Steak and chicken fajitas was excellent and the portion size was more than generous.

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos during the food service due to me being so hungry and the food so tasty. Ordered the steak diane and my god it was awesome. I'd go as far saying this is the best steak ive had in Lancashire and im well travelled. Steak perfect (medium rare) chips perfect, sauce perfect and the side of peas as you would expect. Good selection of cask and keg beers on offer also. And a very extensive menu so something for everyone. Would recommend to anyone. Thankyou so much to everyone at the Stag.

Everything was great the only thing that I was a little disappointed with is we booked a table for food and we were put in the bar area where there was a lot of drinkers and it would of been nice to have sat away from the drinkers side of the pub.

I been to the Stag 5 times now and I've never had a bad meal everything has been brilliant! Is has good beers with fast service and a homely, friendly atmosphere. Front of house has a cracking sence of humour too.

Short notice booking and they got us in. Food was great with a good atmosphere. Dog friendly and even a chopped sausage on the menu for dogs. Will be going back to try some of the menu.

We are so lucky to have this as our local the food is amazing from pizza to burgers and so much more. And the service is 10 out of 10 all the staff are great and roe is a brilliant character ever time we Go he's warm welcome and the guy never seems to take a day off always in when we go lol. And another great thing we'll behaved dogs are allowed to so all the family come. And great out door area for eating and drinking when weather allows it with heating :)

Haven't been in this place for a while. The bar tender was polite, professional and friendly. Didnt catch his name.. but a short ginger hair guy. Clearly an assest to this business.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Parsnips done to perfection..compliments to the chef. Atmosphere fantastic, Roo is the perfect host. The bottle of wine he recommended with our meal was superb Will be back again. Thank you to all the staff! First class ❤️

Just had THE best Sunday roast... the only place to go for it.

This is a regular haunt of ours. As a family we frequently pop over for a drink, food and family meet up. Tonight I had the chicken Fajitas.it was superb. Highly recommended by our family .

Recommended by a Leyland friend for decent, reasonably price meal and was not disappointed. We both had the "special" chilli chicken kebabs which were really delicious. Then we had one steak and ale pie with chunky chips and another "special" chefs home made spaghetti bolognaise which was amazing, and so plentiful that I couldn't shift more than half. Luckily I was able to bring the other half home for a meal tomorrow. Thankyou The Stag force great dinner served by very pleasant staff.

Lovely meal at The Stag Leyland. Not been before so no pre conceptions. On entering realised this place is busy, especially for a thur evening. Luckily we had booked. Ordered the steak and chips, it was great! Good quality and cooked well. Staff are super friendly and made conversation even though it was busy. It gave the whole place a great buzz with lots of happy diners enjoying themselves. Had a wonderful meal and will definitely be returning. Thanks to all the staff working this evening.

Roo and team are all amazing, the service is always great. Eaten here on several occasions and it’s always fantastic. Special mention for this weeks special, the Steak Ciabatta… wow! Just phenomenal.

The food is exceptional here - we eat at the Stag regularly and I have never had a bad meal - full of flavour, generous portions and cooked to perfection. Hats off to Andrew and the team. Always a welcoming atmosphere and refreshing to be able to sit and chat without loud people and music. Very warm and cosy decor - cracking place!

Had my Sunday tea here yesterday. The food was really tasty and plenty of it. Will definitely be coming back here x.

Lamb to rare uncooked for me couldn't eat 15 99 each is alot of money I couldn't bring myself to complain but I wont be going back for food again 😕

Always try to eat here with my partner when he comes to leyland, the most amazing cheese & potato pie. We LOVE it! Staff are always friendly and manager is lovely, welcoming and so friendly. No place I'd rather go! Lovely little pub and cosy setting inside

Had a lovely meal on Easter Monday eve. We were a group of 6 and everyone’s meal was fab. Service was fast and polite, Thank you . Perfect evening .

2nd time we have been to The Stag. Absolutely brilliant. They were busy when we arrived so we got drinks. The landlord kept us up to date as to how long it would be, before we could order food. He took our order at the table. Starters and mains were spot on. Steak cooked to perfection. All the bar staff were helpful, pleasant and accomodating. We will be eating here again. Well worth it. All home cooked food. Compliments to the chef.

Excellent warm friendly place with log burners and outside searing withheating. It is a good local pub which sells good food, better than weatherspoons but similar priced. Its not a Michelin star restaurant so that's why I use my honest star rating, it's good cooked food with a walm friendly face behind the bar always happy to see our return.toilets are clean, Local pubs have toilets that tent to be slightly less of an attraction than restaurant facilities, don't let this put you off. Very reasonable priced alcohol, wine and pop. Very cosy atmosphere with a jolly team of professionals working there. It's also pet friendly and kid friendly so a top mark here.

3 barking dogs totally spoil the night.

Visited yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was busy as usual but didn't have to wait too long for food to arrive. The roast beef dinner was superb, loads of fresh veg and the beef was lovely. Highly recommend

Honestly I’m an avid drinking in and around the leyland area and honestly I always find myself wanting to come back to the stag it’s interior is on the older style but with all the lighting it creates a very nice warm welcoming vibe. The staff here are always lovely been served by Roo and Kayleigh and they are always smiling welcoming and chatty making sure they are making the costumers feel welcome and cared and catered for to the best of the abilities. The food is amazing with a good variety of different food and all at very good prices I recommend the hunters chicken is so full of different flavours would recommend 100%. Overall I love this place and the people who are there along with it from the staff to costumers everyone made to feel welcome and cared for 100% would recommend.

Good variety of beers and value for money pub grub. Staff are very pleasant with a good sense of humour. Always made to feel welcome. It's a local pub atmosphere without the jukebox stopping when you walk in 😂.

I had the most amazing pork tomahawk steak when I visited a few weeks back….perfectly cooked …honestly was one of the best meals I have ever had anywhere in the world ! Very impressed…will return for sure next time I’m in the area.

It's OK except I took a dog bowl in for my dog when Leyland festival was on with a bottle of water that I used for him on the park. Was chatting with a friend, looked down and it was gone.Asked for it back but got refused so never been back. Sure its a great pub otherwise.

Now I'm quite fussy when it comes to food but we heard great things about this place so we gave it a whirl. We had a rump steak with extra veg n all the trimmings and a gammon with everything. It was lovely and hot when it came, even though he Apologised for it being a bit of a wait,and during the wait he kept in touch which was fab, it still wasn't as long as iv waited in lots of other places. I have a real thing about frozen or horrible veg but it was all perfect, exactly like you would get at home,spot on. The onion rings were big and super crispy too. The steak had no gristle whatsoever and was perfectly cooked. The pepper sauce was fab too, nice consistency and great kick. Gammon spot on too, not meaning to go on but it was all hot on arrival which makes such a difference. The manager was lovely, a great host,doing his absolute best even though you could see he was up to his neck in everything, no detail was missed. A young lady member of staff also asked during the meal if everything was ok, to me that shows they care, little details like that go a long way. I have been a chef in various places and I don't go out much as I'm usually disappointed, I will be visiting again definitely. We recently went somewhere else in Leyland on recommendation but definitely won't go again.. The stag gets a 10 out of 10 from this fussy woman!

Good pub, good selection of cask ales, which appears to be well kept! I had the Wainwright's and a pale ale by the three B's brewery, the name of which escapes me.

Special Ribeye Steak cooked to perfection! £19.99. Swap garden peas to salad for an amazing extra side salad!! They also do an amazing rump. Highly recommended. Great quality & price every time x 👌 Southern Fried Chicken Burger also in pics x 😋

Happy to find this pub when visiting Leyland. Great atmosphere, music volume was perfect to have lunch and be able to speak with others. Great for families. Impressive amount of food with good quality.

Enjoyed the fish, chips and mushy peas washed down with a couple of pints of stout. This place and the others in the WA group have really got it right in my eyes, good food at reasonable prices and a wide selection of independent beers. On that subject I'd recommend the WA pale ale which is ridiculously cheap but doesn't taste it. Atmosphere is what pubs should be, traditional without any 'ye olde fakery'.

The V was not very good but for meat eaters very nice

The Stag is a fab pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere, and amazing friendly staff led by their lovely manager Roo. The food is AMAZING (shout out to Chef Michael), in particular the pizzas, sizzlers, curries and specials. Also the Sunday Lunch! Everything that is gluten free on the menu is clearly marked. The weekly quiz is also great. 100% recommend :)

Amazing food, great selection of beers, nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. A vast improvement from when it used to be the roebuck!

Really enjoyed our visit, good pub grub and enjoyed the fine real ales, staff there are very friendly and welcoming. It's not of restaurant quality and doesn't pretend to be but worth stopping by for a visit, I must leave an update on the above comments.....since the above review was for the previous Withy Arms establishment and not for the present 'The Stag' my review might not now be of any worth as I haven't yet visited the latter as of yet.

Popular eating place. Service was good, despite being very busy. Food was tasty and plentiful. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

We needed a venue at short notice to host a 50th birthday party for 16 people. Roo, the landlord couldn't do enough for us considering he had 2 other celebration parties to satisfy. The food was excellent as normal. The atmosphere was as lively as it always is. All in all, a great afternoon and night time. Thanks Roo and your wonderful staff.

Fantastic place lovley meal and the staff have great sense of humour and the beers and foods are AMAZING Absolutely fantastic I loved the place it has quality food and drinks they are very professional also with a great atmosphere I'm definitely visiting again also the slug and lettuce have Great drinks and prices with excellent quality of food with a short waiting time and friendly locals with a verity of drinks and meal including their house beers. It's also child friendly also has a good sized beer garden where you can some and/or vape and to drink and eat upside it really is a fantastic place for a night out or just for a quiet drink also the staff are very approachable and patient it's always been clean and tidy and also when you have a meal there is a good verity selection of sauces thehe ale is fantastic in my opinion such a lovely draft also they pervide colouring books and crayons for the children to keep occupied also with a great verity selection of coffees and hot chocolates it's not really a good place for parking as it's in the middle of the town centre but it's close to plenty of takeaways which is always good. I have been going for years now and haven't had any trouble with any locals I really do suggest that you give the a visit also to toilets are always have been clean and tidy and easily to access and the have a down stairs toilet facilities for people when struggle to go upstairs and table services are pervided and great customer service also. Definitely a five star rating

Cheese and potato plate pie was TINY, with huge mound of (frozen?)peas. When queried chef said that was the portion, end of. Rest of party had substantial meals and photos here look good too. I left still hungry. Come on guys you can do better.

It was a bit cold. Atmosphere 2/5 & no music. Prices a little high but as the competition pub opposite is awful you can see why they charge on the higher side. Toilets decent. The outside area is the high point and I will now only go in Spring & Summer, to sit outside.

Went to eat last evening, 27/03/23. It was a surprise birthday celebration. The food was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful and attentive. Would recommend

Roo is a fabulous landlord. Very friendly and happy amd his staff are a credit to him!

Place was dirty waited over 45mins for meal it was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. Definitely won't recommend this place.
