The Stag in Breckland

Called in on the off chance for breakfast. We were welcomed by a lovely young man, who took our order. Great service & food. Very reasonably priced. If I'm ever passing again I'd definitely call in.

Food was excellent but had a bad Southwold bitter told the lady the barrel had gone only to be told it hadn't it smelt like vinegar she smelt it and said it was fine she needs to tone up on her customer service skills

Haven't visited for a good while, had the carvery. It's still as good as I remember. The place still looks great. Sadly, there was never a member of staff when you needed one. Bar service was very slow and it wasn't busy. Had to wait for a member of staff to pay in the carvery for a few minutes. Went into the bistro and had to wait for a member of staff to appear for another few minutes, plus the counter was covered in dirty cloths and tea towels. When the staff member came, she took our order but didn't clear the mess. Things that can easily be rectified, let's hope they are.

Can't fault it, always good food, good selection of vegetables and meat, lovely friendly staff.

Carvery was most excellent, the noise in the room was slightly overbearing some dampeners might help, also was pushed out to bar quickly after eating but other than that very nice

The Stag is a very popular place at anytime the car park is always fairly full. They have a good selection of food on the menu for adults and children. You can go for breakfast and coffee from 7am everyday. They do a lovely carvery and the restaurant is lovely too. Some people hold Birthdays, Xmas Parties in there and as far as I know you can still there as well

An all round great watering hole. The pub, coffee shop and restaurant are all ten out of ten. Simply the best such place for miles around.

Visited for lunch & was pleased to see they do a carvery. The carvery was wonderful, lots of choice & so delicious & even better Mon-Thurs Desserts are just £1 with the carvery. Service was great & fast, staff really friendly & helpful & really great price too.

This place is great. Good pub and outside areas, good carvery and a late night cafe for when you want something a bit different from being in a pub setting.

Beautiful food. I had the Norfolk sausages and they were gorgeous. 3 of them but I couldn't eat them all. Such a shame. A bit expensive but worth every penny. The staff were very helpful and friendly , certainly would recommend it to friends and family. We'll done The Stag.

It is a nice place to eat with good quality food at reasonable prices. There are too many pub restaurants now that charge a lot of money for substandard food, and I've tried a lot of them. This place gave me hope again that you can get quality food that won't break the bank.

My favourite Norfolk carvery. The staff are super friendly and the food is the best tastiest selection I have ever had for a Sunday carvery. Book up and you will not be disappointed.

Busy place, carvery seemed popular. I had a burger which was tasty, chips disappointing, very skinny and very small portion, would have liked some sort of salad or maybe onion rings with the coleslaw

Great place for a carvery or set menu. We took our friends from Australia who loved the experience also. The staff were friendly and professional to us. Lovely food and the restaurant was clean and well looked after. I eat way too much!!!

The atmosphere and service is so nice. We always have a carvery and it’s always really nice! Expect the beef and potatoes. The beef is dry and the potatoes, every single time, are dry and so difficult to cut. I think they are frozen. Everything else in the carvery is really nice.

Great food and service. A large choice on the menu to please everyone and a great carvery as well. Would definitely recommend, but remember to book!

Really nice restaurant. Menu was amazing I would have ordered anything it was hard to choose and the carvery option was also tempting. Service was great and the place was so nice to be in.

Have been visiting The Stag for over 25 years and have always had a nice meal. Over the last year or so it has become very hit and miss. Lasagna is small and dry. Jacket potatoes come out cold and hard without much filling. Chips, cheese and chilli is now with liquid cheese. Breakfast doesn’t come with a pot of coffee and toast anymore yet the price keeps increasing. Such a shame as it’s a lovely pub and the staff are always friendly

Good food but not exceptional. But they certainly helped me with my DF options.

Enjoyed a relaxed evening eating and sleeping in a comfortable,quiet room.

Went during lunch time for a special occasion ,the veg wasn't fresh, and both the stuffing and roast potatoes were very hard. The beef was very chewy,the desert, however, was excellent

I haven't been into the coffee lounge for a bit but do like it here. Cakes are lovely and homemade, service is very good. Though the food selection is a bit limited.

The carvery was piping hot, including tender meats and crispy parsnips and potatoes. Reasonable range of vegetables. Friendly service.

This is my MIL favourite place to eat, and it never disappoints. An unfortunate event occurred, in which an elderly lady fell down the steps near where I was sitting. I quickly attended, but was immediately followed by the manager James, who reassured and calmed the woman, assuring her he was a first aider and letting her know he would help her. Another guest was an A&E nurse, so I was able to leave the woman in their caring hands. The husband mentioned to me they were celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary, so wanting to help, I quietly paid for their meal and the staff were so helpful in finding out the table number, without fuss, which allowed me to do this. I hope my small contribution brightened their day, but I know the care they received here would go a long way

Carvery was baked up and almost inedible. Rock hard roast potatoes, tough Yorkshire puddings and the beef was tough and sinewy. Not impressed at all.

Breakfast stop. Good food and worth the price but nothing amazing.

Good stopping point on A11 for me. Good range from menu plus nice cake, homemade scones. Also good pub menu in the bar and a very popular carvery.

Great service and lovely food, we had the carvey, which was delicious, they even brought me gluten free Yorkshire puddings as I'm gluten intolerant!

Nice pub. Really good feel to it.

Main Course: Carvery Cold plates, under cooked roast potatoes, barely cooked stuffing balls, over cooked roast miniature potatoes very chewable, cold veg and very difficult to reach as it was at the back of the counter. The cauliflower cheese; under cooked cauliflower, runny cheese sauce and cold, runny and cold gravy. Pudding: Excellent, 5 Stars Service: Waiters, Excellent 5 Stars 4 adult carvery 4 puds 2 alcohol slingsby with tonic 1 large cola 1 bottle water £110.36 including 5% tip We won't be going back as the main course was dreadfully poor.

Just an all round excellent customer experience.

Food was delicious. The speciality dish Steak Hogie is my favourite. Prices have increased as everywhere has. Had a pint of coke with my meal. Staff friendly and helpful. My 93 year old Grandma asked for a scampi and chips. The waitress suggested a smaller portion which worked perfectly and my Grandma was very grateful. My husband had the Carvery which was very yummy but £15 now for a carvery.

A really good roast carvery all day every day. So much to choose from. Great value too

Visited yesterday for a nice family meal. We always go for bangers and mash and the Stag burgers. Even though they were super busy(Sunday) the food was just as lovely as on a regular day😋

Lovely food, good service, place very clean, very busy but had enough staff on to be on hand if you needed anything. I can't tell you how much it was as i didn't pay for it.

I live 2 hours from here but I wish I lived closer their roast dinner is incredible. I honestly rate it as the best carvery I've ever had in the UK. Reason being, the chefs are very creative and create extra dishes you wouldn't normally think to have with a roast. These extra dishes are full of flavour. And cooked to perfection. I always recommend this place to friends and family. I suggest you book before hand to avoid disappointment.

The snug area or coffee lounge is a nice area. Always migrate to that area. Great flat white coffee and food be it lunch or just scones or cakes.

This may just become our number 1 carvery pit stop. Lovely food, nice staff and very clean. The prices are good too.

Surprisingly good carvery! Visited whilst at a Snetterton race weekend and very impressed by the range and quality of the carvery.

Food was great, and service from everyone was first class, will return again soon.

Booked breakfast for mother's day, We ordered our food then got told that they had run out of black pudding, we had ordered a croissant with jam for our 4 year old to then be told they run out of croissants, so we ordered porridge with strawberries, to then 5 minutes later be told they'd run out of strawberries, We then all received our food, which was nice but a few of us ordered poached eggs and they came out hard boiled. One of our members order beans and poached eggs and only got eggs which were hard so they complained and got them recooked. Embarrassing for the servers I bet. All this and we had booked and were sat down at 9:30.

Only had bangers and mash. Sausages were nice, the mash could and should be a hell of a lot better, especially for the price.

A pleasant pub to enjoy lunch with friends

One of the best carveries I have had. Despite the beef being a bit overcooked for my liking it was very tender and juicy. Great range of gravies and vegatable, together with all the usual trimmings for a roast, piping hot and really tasty. Backed up with excellent service and great value what moree could you want.

Have not been for a while and from what I had today it has gone downhill, used to be so much better food wise.

You are greeted by a very warm atmosphere. The carvery is scrumptious, and the puddings delicious. Its not expensive and your left feeling this is a place you can truly relax in. And Its a place you always want to come back to.

No booking system available so took a chance for a sunday roast but was disappointed when told they were full and would be an hour wait

Always go here for a roast but the quality of food is slipping a bit. Carrots were all different sizes which meant the big slices weren't cooked properly inside. That's a pretty basic thing to ensure during food prep. The potatoes tasted strongly of oil, dry inside and just not great. There was also no pickled red cabbage or creamed leaks. Does the French chef still work here? The food that guy made was amazing!

Had staff Christmas dinner, phew ...there was even left over sweet & sour chicken on the display. Most veg & trimmings looked & tasted as if carried forward from lunch or worse from day before ( hope not ) drinks on bar were ok. Service was good

Great menu choices and polite staff. The restaurant where the carvery is situated is fantastic and the service is fantastic polite and nothing is too much trouble. The bar has a lovely atmosphere but can be loud. However the food is great and the service is wonderful.

Lovely place to go for a drink or food. Nice members of staff. Plenty of parking. Four areas to eat - the bar , the main restaurant, the coffee lounge and outside. Would recommend the Camemburger its delicious. Have also stayed in the hotel. Room was a good size with coffee machine , kettle and biscuits etc , iron/ironing board ,tv ,shampoo shower gel and shower cap in bathroom. Beds were very comfy. Ordered room service breakfast which came quickly. Would stay again

Veggie option at the carvery was down to only two ,nutroast or vegg.sausages lovely buttered roast potatos.didnt have a pudding was too full after the roast ,we would definitely visit again

This is a regular stop for breakfast. The food is always good but service can be a bit slow.

My son is not a fussy eater but didn't enjoy the burger as the bun was stale. I tried it, and it was. Carvery choice of 3 meats and veg with all the trimmings of a roast. Service was slow and felt a little disorganised at times.
