The prices of food and drink are all in line with other national trusts, a little more on the expensive side for someone with an average wage, but that’s ok. Of all the national trust restaurant we go to, I seem to enjoy this one the most, the staff seem really friendly and kind and are always doing their best to get through the hoards of people that visit on the weekends. Keep up the good work, you’re doing great.

Dogs in eating area should swap with no dog zone so general eating area has more room for people as leads etc trip hazards and the smell of wet dog is horrible.when trying to eat. Excellent service by young waitress called Ellie who went out of her way to help us. Seemed to be doing all the jobs cleaning and serving food. Same there was no toasties.

The coffee is good. The scones are tasty. The staff are lovely. BUT the indoor seating area is filthy and shabby. The fabric seat covers are stained and sticky. The paint is peeling off the tables. Yet the venue and room are lovely so come on guys please get this sorted. We love coming over for a walk and a coffee but we now keep finding other things to do as we are so put off.

Our experience at the cafe yesterday was very disappointing. We arrived at 1pm to find there was very little choice of food. There was no sandwiches, only gluten free ones, and only 2 packets of those. The other choices were Pasties, sausage rolls or cheesy chips. We finished up having cheese scones which were very dry. Tables were messy and some not cleared. National Trust cafes have always been very reliable. We came away very disappointed.

Lovely cafe with indoor & outdoor seating in a picturesque setting. The food and drinks are excellent quality, although a little expensive, and available seating can be hard to find at busier times, especially around lunchtimes. Queues are long and slow to clear in particular when coach parties arrive, but otherwise a wonderful cafe overall. Recommended!

Nice cream tea at a reasonable price. However it was hard to find a table and when we eventually did it was covered in crockery and general debris. Folk are meant to clear away, a la canteen, but don't!

Disappointing experience. Despite being surrounded by local produce, there is still an inclination to take the easy route with many of the things that they sell here.

One of our favourite places to dine out. The food is freshly cooked, tasty, and varied. Part of the week they have an eat all you want menu (as long as you eat what's on your plate). My plate has always been cleared as the food is too good to leave. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Recommend to anyone.

This has to be the poorest excuse for an indian takeaway i have ever known the food is vile, The chef needs to go look at the recent reviews. When we walked in it was a cold unwelcoming experience waiting for the slop to be cooked. Tasteless watery, hardly any chicken and what there was was disgusting. How this place is still trading is beggars belief. Used to be a great place now the worst takeaway restaurant i have ever known.

I picked up a takeaway from this little fish and chip shop in Devon and honestly, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made all trip. No frills, no view – just seriously good food done right. The fish was perfectly cooked – light, crispy batter with beautifully fresh, flaky fish inside. It wasn’t greasy at all, just full of flavour and cooked to perfection. You could tell they really know what they’re doing. The chips were just how I like them – thick cut, golden, and crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy in the middle. Everything was still piping hot when I got home, which is always a good sign with takeaway. Even the little things stood out – the portion sizes were generous, the mushy peas were spot on, and the service was really friendly and quick. You can tell they care about quality and keeping their customers happy. If you’re in Devon and want proper, traditional fish and chips that hit the spot, this place is a must. No gimmicks, just amazing food. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in the area. 5 stars – can’t recommend it enough.
